I use portable. I see the problem seems to happen with adaptive storage. I usually use it as portable since I have a v20 as well and sometimes switch back temporarely (when I send the phone for warranty) lol

It must be the Evo in conjunction with the update. I just ugraded from a SanDisk 128gb and saw no issues. When I put the new Samsung Evo Select 256gb, it too has "doubled" and it showing 512gb. I can't seem to add photos/screen shots from from my phone due to some forum moderator block, but it shows I have a 512gb SD card, with 216gb of system files on it. Btw I am using adaptive internal, not removable storage.

I had this issue too, it was because my card reader didn't support SDXC specifications. I had to use the built in reader in my fairly new laptop to format.

I have also an old mac book.
Maybe I will try with my wife Acer laptop in the evening

I have the 64GB class 10 from BB when they ran the 49.99 promotion a couple of weeks ago. I used the Easeus to format the card as FAT32 in one minute. And it had 59.48GB , which is what it's supposed to be. Idk if it's the same for the ultra . Just FYI

Guys, be warned that SGS3 DOES NOT support UHS-1 (i.e. class 10) cards.
There's a thread some on here where the exact card is supported.

does not support, but it works fine if you format the card in the phone. exFAT does not work, however, so you are limited to files < 4gb in size. Kind of defeats the purpose of having such a large microsd card though
UHS1 is simply a speed classification typically used by high power cameras. C10 refers to the minimum write speed of 10mb/s.
This card will work in exfat format for stock GS3, however cwm or twrp recovery only supports fat32 which this card will format to.
I have used this card before so don't be reluctant to to purchase it.
I have been using this exact card since the date I got my GS3 (mid June). It works well with everything and never crashed. It also works with backup and restore within CWM. YMMV though. It is exFAT formatted.
Phone will format it as fat32 and all will be fine. Tested and works well.

What are you guys talking about? Have anyone actually tried this out?
I have this exact same card UHS-1 Class 10 (not the old Class 6 one) in exFat format and everything works fine in CWM and in Android.
EDIT: BTW, I formatted the card with SDFormatter on my PC, not on the phone.
S3 doesn't support UHS-1 speed but it does support exFAT format. The card itself came as exFAT, S3 won't even ask you to reformat it as FAT32. Just pop it in and everything works 100%.
Sweet, just nabbed one. I check the price every day also and was just about to post it here...beaten to the punch as usual .
ps anyone want to buy a Zune80gb heh heh
Is there a good way to utilize an "external" sd card to store apps and nandroids? It seems like the GS3 (and maybe just ICS/JB in general) is setup to use the "internal" sd for everything.

SD formatter is awesome software. I had issues with a 4speed card jumping in my canon. The SDformatter, made it stop. Dunno how it works, but it does.
Saw this on another android blog this morning and picked up a 32 for the gf, and a 64 for myself. Thanks for posting guys.

I bought the very same card at the beginning of the month and after 2 days of use the Card stopped working...
The card became unusable and I had to fill a claim with Amazon since the seller didn't reply to any of the emails I sent...

As far as I know there is NO 512gb micro sd card available for purchase.... I would believe it to be fake...
It's in this line here - "with the way the card is made and formatted it may hold varying storage from card to card. Errors may be experienced once the maximum capacity of the memory card has been reached."
In other words, if you can't hold more than 2 gb on it that's your problem and we hold no responsibility... Jerks out looking for suckers...
n this is why i ask questions before i do anything lol. so then is 128 the current size thats legit then? and which brand is more sturdy aka less likely to corrupt/fail
ASUS Zenfone 2 supports up to 128GB but only FAT32 format.
Sincerely
ASUS_USA
@Asus_USA are sd's pre setup with fat32? or would i have to put it in an adapter n reformat to fat32
does it have to b sdxc? or can it be a regular sd
previous question: safest brand to go with?
If SD card cant be detected then you may need to use an adapter to format to FAT32
Zenfone 2 supports microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC, with speed class up to Class 10
Unfortunately we dont have a specific brand to recommend
Sincerely,
ASUS_USA

exfat supported... I never change the format.
Fat32 has 4gb file restrictions, I have 8gb+ files there...
NTFS NOT natively supported.
Recovery however needs 32gb or less or Fat32 formatted card to install updates if you download the OTA from here.
Cheers...
Hi, you can purchase 512gb micro sd cards inexpensively around $20 ea. from OUS sites legally and with assurances. I used aliexpress. I put one in my samsung avant 4 4 2 from tmobile, and it seems work. I also put in my older samsung, ExhibitII, also tmobile, with gingerbread but it seems that version cant handle the memory volume. I guess size does matter.

[Q] [Micro SD] Anyone having issues mounting a Lexar 32gb?

Hi guys,
I doubt I'm the only one here.
I got my G4 (h812 LMY47D)and im ecstatic about using my micro sd slot (S6 was the main deal breaker paying top dollars for more storage) but now I'm running into issues with my Class 10 micros sd from Lexar, This darn software does not want to mount the thing (tried several format including a full 40 minute format @ fat 32 default allocation).
The G4 detects an SD card but won't mount it. This thing works flawlessly on my old S3 so it has to be software related as using a cheap Kingston 1gb class 4 works fine.
Anyone else running into issues with their sd card?
Thanks for sharing any info or tips.

FIX
Just taught of leaving what got me to sort this out after playing around... Fun times :good:
After tinkering around with another SD card, the LG device formatted it to FAT16.
I've formatted the sd card using http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html under FAT/Primary
It created a 4gb partition and left it the remaining untouch
Popped the SD on the G4 and it finally mounted the partition
Performed an erase via the phone 2x to make sure and the entire 32gb is now accessible.
Hope that helps others having mounting issues.

I have facing same problems with my 64 GB sandisk sd card on new LG G4
can you explain the procedure to make it work
I've been using an AData 128GB for the last month or so with no problems. I turned the phone on yesterday morning and for whatever reason it went straight to my home screen but locked up and took half a minute or so to unlock and then goes to the lack screen, then I also got a SD Card inserted notification, I figured nothing of it and ignored it. The micro sd runs fine on other devices (formatted as ex-fat) but it causes that issue on startup i mentioned above as long as it's in the phone and it also refuses to mount.
I'm using the SanDisk SDSDQUAN-200G-A4A 200GB ULTRA MICROSDXC UHS-I since 2.5 months ago formatted in exfat with 128k clusters which was what it was out of the package and it works fine.

SanDisk is the only one with something larger than 128GB at this point in time and notice it's 200GB instead of 256GB as size usually doubles in capacity, heard the 56GB was used for something else or maybe not usable. I have a new 200GB card in there now. There is a 512GB card coming soon from Microdia as well.

Question to all owners with stock ROM and 128 GB mSD card

Hi all,
I have the Tab S 8.4 with stock ROM and some time ago I've upgraded my mSD card from Sandisk Ultra 64 GB to Samsung Evo Plus 128 GB U1 and I've noticed a strange thing. The 128 GB Samsung card works fine - read, copy, everything works just fine, except delete. When I delete a file from the mSD card, it is deleted just fine, no error message, file is not visible anymore, but the system indicator of free space doesn't get updated - it shows the same capacity as before delete. I have to unmount it and mount again to update the real free space. I tried different file managers - ES Explorer, Solid explorer, Total Commander - and all behave the same except Total Commander. If I delete the file with TC it behaves correctly - free space gets updated right away.
SD card is genuine, works fine in other devices, PC...
My question to other Tab S owners using 128 GB card - is it working fine for you? No weird issues? I know that the device officialy supports only 64 GB cards, but I have seen forum posts confirming also 128 GB cards working... Unfortunately I don't have another 128 GB card laying aroung so I can't test it, I'm just curious if it's a general behaviour, is it mSD card related or my Tab S related....
With 64 GB card I had no issues what so ever...
Thanks for all replies,
Peter
I am on stock MM and have been using an 128gb micro-sd for a year or two with no problems.
Are you certain you don't have a fake like a 8gb pretending to be an 128gb?
You can download tester apps to check the size though i do not know which is best.

Must be something with my Tab S - yesterday I bought another 128 GB card - Samsung Evo+ U3 and it has the same issue... both cards are original ones, I got them via official retail channel. Never mind, I can live with it, it's just a little annoying... otherwise both cards are working just fine. Now I have one more 128 GB card i don't really need... I can upgrade the 64 GB card in my phone
