Battery drain

I am losing about 2-3% battery an hour even when tablet is just sitting there. I've put it in airplane mode to see if it was the wireless but it has not helped. I've even done a factory reset and let it sit there in airplane mode without any of my apps installed and it was still losing about 2%/hr. I monitor the usage and it seems that three different kworker/u:0 process is constantly taking up CPU even during sleep. All I can find on Google is that it is a swapping process. Why it is swapping when system is sitting there is beyond me.
Anyone having similar issue?

Are you on the gen2 build? My tablet ate battery life like crazy when I first picked it up. I tried removing bloat, airplane mode, even factory reset. It didn't go away until I downgraded to gen1 and removed all the un-needed apps, now it will sleep all day in my car in airplane mode and be at 99 to 97% when I get home.
I was on gen2 but I downgraded to Gen1 with all the updates. I only froze all the bloat with titanium backup. Guess I'll uninstall to see if that makes a difference.

Try installing auto airplane mode by don and CPU spy so you can see if your tablet is going into deep sleep
By the way I have gen1 on my tablet
Have you tried the tweaked build.prop by crossix? It did quite a difference for me. He did some tweaks in there to lower the battery drain.
I am using the new buld.prop. I just need to track down whatever process is using kworker/u:1. Seems to be the main battery killer.

I used betterbatterystats on my GB phone to find the source of a battery drain at one point, it shows what apps are holding the CPU in a wakelock and what percentage of time they are held. Don't know if it works with HC though. Haven't had a reason to try it. :-\

Gonna check that app out. I did find one source of battery drain though. It was the Google docs app. Look like it was waking up every once in a while to sync. Uninstalled it and only losing about 1-2% /hr now. Getting better.

Disabling auto-sync and the Background data under settings>accounts & sync can help save some battery as well. You could only enable background data if you really need it (with Market, etc).

Autosync is disabled. Not sure why but Google docs just seems to wake the tablet up every once in a while from deep sleep.

[Q] Screen timeout resets to 15 seconds

My wife has a Captivate Glide running UCKL1 (2.3.36.3). She has changed the screen timeout to 2 minutes, but for some reason it periodically gets reset to 15 seconds. We've installed just a few apps from the Play Store (all of which are also installed on my SGS2 and it's not doing this), and some searches pulled up an app called Screebl that would cause this, but that's not installed on her phone. I tried rebooting it, and it stayed set at 2 minutes.
Has anyone seen this? My searches didn't really turn up much, at least for this phone or phones without Screebl installed.

I think it's the powersaving mode. When it activates it sets the screen timeout to 15 seconds.

Thanks. It was set to go into power saving mode at 50% battery, and was set to that out of the box. I set it to 30% for now.
Powersaving mode is a bit of a waste of time because there's no trivial way to set everything back to your preferred settings once you've recharged

Shame there's no way to specify a percentage to start powersaving mode at, like 20% or 25%, instead of just having 10%, 30%, 50% and 70%. If anyone knows of a way to do this I'd love to hear about it.

[Q] Wi-fi turning on and off randomly for anyone?

I was wondering if this was occurring for anyone especially when you turn on the screen and I can see that the wifi slider tab that indicates on/off turns on when I wake up the device. I also can't connect to any wi-fi networks since it just shuts off randomly within the minute or two that I connect to a network....
I am stock, rooted with Note2core kernel.
Me too
Yes, I just noticed this today, after having this phone for 2 days. I can start up a Wi-Fi connection to my home network, and after 3-4 minutes, it just drops off. Once it drops off wi-fi, it waits about 2 minutes and reconnects back to my home Wi-Fi.
Right now, I suspect that it might have something to do with power. Today is the first day that I have not charged the phone at all during the day. I am at 30% battery now. I started noticing the network shutoff this afternoon, I suspect when I was in the 50% battery range.
I put my phone on the charger to see if that might stop the wi-fi drop outs, but it hasn't yet.
I will tell you that I have done most of my fiddling using the Wi-Fi setup of the settings menu. As a check, I went in to the AT&T Smart Wi-Fi app and started my home Wi-Fi from there. My connection still dropped off after 4 minutes, but the AT&T app told me that my connection had gone into sleep mode.
I'm hoping that everything will return to normal in the morning after I get my battery back up in the 80%-90% range. I have been able to find any power setting that would cause the Wi-Fi to cycle like this.

Edited to add that I am stock, no roms or rooting.
From another thread... and it addressed the issue for me...
Delete all saved wifis.
Open the servicemode with
*#197328640#
Open the wifi menu via menu button and deactivate the energy saving mode.
Reconfigure your wifi.

ghicks, you are correct...
I tried this last night, and I have gone all night without a drop out, but I did sleep a couple of hours in there.
As a side note, I did have to reboot my phone after making this change.
Good luck
I had this issue until I froze the ATT smart wifi app with Titanium Backup. No problems since.

Thanks. This works. But only until I reboot.

I also have not had this problem since I froze the ATT Smart Wifi app.
I figured it was some power saving option that I had not yet found, but I never saw it happen again after freezing all the bloat. Didn't think about it again until I saw this post.
Can someone tell me how to freeze the at&t smart wifi?
Doesn't seem that freezing the ATT app works (using Titanium Backup, selecting app, and freeze). And disabling WiFi energy saver in the engineering menu resets after a reboot...

A few of us in another thread have disabled our AT&T smart wifi app and have fixed our wifi disconnecting problem. We've done this by uninstalling any updates for the app and then disabling the app all through application manager in settings.

Thanks for the replies. It seems one can un install the smart wifi from the play store? I have not done it, but that option is available in play store.
This problem returned for me today. I have tried to use the code to reset the power save setting, but it isn't working for me.
I'm at 57% battery, and I just noticed this at around 65%.

Been about an hoursince my last update...
I turned off the energy saver mode in service mode. It dropped the wifi a couple of minutes after I did so. I verified that energy saver mode was still turned off in service mode.
I rebooted my phone, and I haven't dropped my Wi-Fi since. I went back in to service mode and verified that rebooting did restore energy saving mode to ON.
So, simply rebooting the phone is what helped me today. Since I am presently at 46% battery, it doesn't appear that battery levels alone are enough to kick this behavior in.
I don't know...

Overheating?

Using CoPilot GPS, Bluetooth with music playing, charging.
Phone randomly turned off. Possible heat?
Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
Hell yea. Charging any phone nowadays gets it hot. Then you use GPS and its software which are also great warmers to any phone. These + G3's conservative heat management = shutdown. Playing music over bluetooth is not a problem.
Check temp?
Well I tried just using Google Navigation on the way home from my 2 hour 30 minute drive, and that didn't cause any problems...

Napster issue on nougat

Dear all,
After upgrading to nougat Napster stops playing after some minutes while screen is off. I didn't faced such a issue back on 6.0.1.
Any ideas why this may happens?
I just noticed the same thing. It doesn't close, it simply pauses playback.
It's probably just Doze OTG being too aggressive, I'll switch battery optimization off for Napster and see what happen.
I have disabled battery optimization and battery saver. The issue remains unfortunately
