Mine is Vodafone too, but from Italy. I have version 4.17.161.11.
My battery life has evened out to be kind of close to what I used to get but it's not as good as mm. I did do a factory reset and calibrated the battery and I'm now getting almost 3hrs of sot but it's about 30mins to 1hr less then before. I'm going to be putting my m9 in for a repair (hopefully free) to get my battery replaced before my warranty with Vodafone is up so if the battery does get replaced I'll do some tests to see if it's my battery or the update itself. If it's the update then I can light a fire under their butts to hopefully get Vodafone au and HTC to release a fix.

Good to know and I don't know about any work around but just check what apps are sucking battery. I did delete the one gallery app or whatever it's called as it was using over 25% of battery usage. I'd recommend calibrating your battery to get the best out of your phone. (I drain my phone to 0% or as close as I can get then charge it up to 100% with the phone off, unplug then turn it on drain it close to 5% if I can then charge the phone like normal and that usually works for me) I'll still put my phone in as it always turns off at 15% battery left or around that and won't turn on so it thinks it's dead with no charge when it's got 15% left.

I'd have to disagree as no phone in the world new or old has the ability to say,it's okay, you can root me now,it s the right time lmao, imo it's the 1st thing you do when you get a phone lol
back on topic: underclocking seems to have helped a little but to early to tell, also removed google chrome as that was sucking the most power & I ain't even used it once

See u are having 32gb memory and more over rooting is done to optimize apps and battery usage , optimization can also be done by disabling factory apps , root is my choice to install new rom
my battery dran now is like watching water go down a sink hole. I can literally see the drain go by one percent at a time ....i already disabled alot of my usual apps. but "HTC dot view" keeps coming up and i cannot disable even though I didn't activate it? didnt have this problem in Marshmallow.
i didnt disable Chrome (to save battery) because it now (in Nougat) apparently handles what Android System Webview app used to do in Marshmallow. (OT ,TL;DR I got a blank screen issue for Google play app because of Android Webvoew app problems not being updated...only solved it by auto-updating all my entire apps then updating the Android webview app and then switching back to Chrome and updating Chrome, for it all to work in Nougat..ie..Keep Chrome or Android Webview updated seems is required , or you may get blank screen on some apps ).

I deleted chrome from my phone and it's working just fine. There must have been some other issue with your phone.
And in regard to the battery drain: My phone's battery actually lasts longer than on MM. I only face a drain when I update Magisk from version 10.2 to 11.1. But I guess that info won't help you much since some of you are using a non-rooted stock rom...
Oh, and you better don't let your battery reach 0%. Lithium-ion batteries can get damaged by doing so. Android calibrates the battery automatically during the normal usage. And the memory effect only exists on Nickel–cadmium batteries so you don't have to fear losing capacity if you charge your M9 at higher percentages.

tks. I agree never let battery goto 0%. I never have either.
btw is your rom also vodafone Nougat? could be related to that rom?? , only because a few users here and I heard others seem to have same serious battery drain issue?
I had the "Blank app " issue when I updated to Nougat which (after gpogling and searching for a long while i found) some other Sony device users so had same blank google play app problem. The dev said that App System Webview had not been updated 'prior' to upgrading from Marshmallow to Nougat which caused thr problem.. apparently some bug in Nougat?. (I never updated Android webiew nor Chrome in marshmallow before). But after updating it, the blank screen on GooglePlay problem was rectified immediately...
apparently if you do disable Chrome, then Android System webview is automatically activated (for non rooted phones)? seems like we 'must' use one or the other now in Nougat stock?
TBH I just dont want to have the same ( really annoying) Google blank screen bug come back again..ya I could root this M9, my previous M9 was rooted, but after a 2nd replacement M9 , having had the previous one die suddenly, I decided keep this stock for the meantime.
Anyone know is there anyway Disable Dot View in stock Nougat? it keeps waking up. I think I recall I could disable it in settings Marshmallow? cant seem to do it in Nougat. Appreciate any advice.
Webview is needed for every app that has access to the internet, shows you data from the internet and isn't a browser (e.g. the play store). Therefore, it's always recommended to keep it up to date. On the one hand due to all the security fixes the updates contain and on the other hand due to all the bug fixes and compatibility fixes.
No, I'm using the European unbranded firmware and the latest venom rom which is based on the firmware I'm using. But there are more than enough reports about battery drain in that thread, too. The same applies to the Nougat OTA discussion thread in the General section. The strange thing is that no everyone is facing them even if those "lucky" users use the same firmware as those with the drain.
I can't help you with dot view since I have a dot view case and never tried to disable it on older firmware versions.

Hi all,
Quite noob on Pixel 2 XL, just rooted it with Magisk one month ago; so I'm still on February image.
How can I update to April image without losing anything, please? (Already downloaded the image, btw)
(Directly or with Skipsoft tollkit)
Thanks a lot!

Just follow the guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/how-to/guide-unlock-flash-root-pixel-2-xl-t3702418
1. Download the image and adb, twrp image and magisk zip
2. Flash the image without the -w parameter
3. Temporarily boot into twrp, flash the magisk zip and you're done, takes 5 minutes

What kind of issue? Screen not turning off when covered or screen not turning on when uncovered? Either way, I was on a call earlier and it turned on and off fine.

I think it's too early to tell the impact of most of those changes in my usage so far. Fingerprint sensor response has improved for me.
The biggest thing I was looking forward to was all the mentions of battery life improvements. Unfortunately battery life doesn't appear to be any better but so far doesn't appear to be any worse. The February and March updates really hurt battery life.

No issue for me. I don't think that's a software issue. I think it's a hardware issue. The same thing happened on my Nexus 5X
I am on my second day of the April security patch and my battery life has gotten much worse. I got it launch day and I have always gotten 5-6 hours SoT for 18 hours off charge and still have 30% battery left. Yesterday I got 3.5 SoT for 18 hours and was at 4% when I plugged it in. I never had any adverse effect of battery life with the monthly patches until now. I havent factory reset since I bought the phone.

No. But we still see teaser posts that some whiz just discovered something that Google and Verizon simply don't know.
It's locked down tight on VZN models.
Have people been able to use the tethering module through magisk on the April update?
for me the initial install of April the battery life was better than March by far, but the next few days definitely doesn't seem much better, so pretty scary how quick the fall off was for the battery life fall off when looking the the battery stats pages. Touch responsiveness is much better, and generally the phone now feels like it should have been from the beginning.

Usually by the end of the day im left with about 15 -20%. Now im to 15% around 5 or 6PM. Battery definitely draining much faster
My battery life has gotten stupidly better. First day was close to 5 hours SOT with 50% battery left at 20 hours off charger(normally would have been 2-3 hour SOT pre April patch). Right now I'm at 2 hours SOT at 75% battery left with 11 hours off charger. Most of my SOT is games(Clash Royale, Final Fantasy Pocket Edition) so it's not like my usage is lite. Though personally I feel as if the patch has gotten my battery life back to how it was at launch before the first patch. I'm thinking some of those carrier optimizations were for Project Fi as that's what I have.
Has anyone updated their 2 XL with the March release of TWRP since the April update hasn't been released? Any issues?

Most twrp users did that the day the Google April update came out. As always, there are always going to be some users that have issues for whatever reason. However, from the majority of things I've read, most users, including myself, have had little to no issues with using twrp :good:

Whats the best solution then if its software based? Currently on the latest revision and would preferably want to avoid rooting as I use a lot of banking apps

Hello,
a few days ago my Mi6 (4GB/64GB) upgraded to Pie (9.5.9 Beta) by OTA.
After that, the phone isnt smooth as in the past.
Sometimes starting apps from links while browsing - like ebay or amazon- fails.
Phone take little brakes.
Soundstreaming to a Bluetooth Soundbox is horrible, many little stops.
Does anyone has the same experience or issues after upgrading?
Best regards Christian
I always have this rule, if i upgrading. Example: from Android 8.0 to 9.0, then i doing full wipe, but older system leaves so many trash in system files.
I install 9.5.9 on my Mi6 128GB with MiFlash and dont have any problems, very stable rom, good battery performance.

Yes thats true. In the past i charged every two days. Now i have to charge ever day.
Is it true..?
Android 10/OneUI 2 update is worse.
1.Charging time increased & Battery drains fast.
2. Front camera of 32MP is depromoted to 21MP.
3. Quick Panel is restricted to 2 screens. It's feels more bulky(optional)
4. Font size is little bit high compared to usual sizing.
Yes alot of user are stating about battery issues and finger print reader problems along with increased charging times.
It looks like android 9 update for time being is stable enough for daily driver.
Some people are also stating that android 10 feels lots smoother and fingerprint scanner animation is reduced so it feels quicker with less fails
Let's wait a couple of week for all the news and fixes to pour in before deciding to upgrade

Ao which region do u have A70..?
The fingerprint animation is smooth and smaller than the previous one also the fingerprint scanner is faster than it ever had, plus minimal reading fails. Another thing noticeable is that face recognition is super fast now takes u directly to home screen if u want. On the down side we can say that the charging times have been increased noticeably as also the battery drain. Sometimes u may have heating issues it at random times. The overall ui is now fluid and smooth as compared to pie with smooth transtions and animations.

Can't really say much about that at the moment because I usually charge my phone during the night.
The only issue that I've had is higher battery drain, even when idle (overnight) but I flashed with Odin weeks ago and didn't factory reset (yet).
The benefits outweigh this higher drain even if it is permanent. Access to project mainline, more UI optimizations and noticeably better fingerprint reader is a trade-off I prefer. I didn't notice charging troubles unlike other users here.
EDIT: Battery drain is not as dramatic after a factory reset.
This is how my usage looks. All wifi except ~40min on mobile data. I'm pretty satisfied for now.
When I scroll up from the bottom to close apps, they fail to fade away into the background. They just disappear. Why cant I see this animation and how do I fix it?
Bluetooth Battery % indicator
Hey Guys,
I just bought this galaxy A70 (sm-a705mn), already upgraded to Android 10, One UI 2.0. My previous phone was Leeco pro3 and I Used AICP or Omni rom. I can't figure out how to enable battery indicator in status bar for connected Bluetooth headsets.
Hope to see Omni rom for it. I have not tried TWRP and Stock Roms yet (should I?)
Over all finger print scanner sucks if I could compare it to Xiaomi 9T.
Bests
