Puzzled - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

I have lost the ability to transfer files,in usb mode tried different cables and different computers.
Running Aquarios Rom just bstarted happening yesterday any ideas as to whats going on?
i can transfer pictures but not data'

Have you tried toggling USB Debugging?
You could also try uninstalling the drivers and reinstall by plugging your phone up. There's also the Google USB drivers.

I tried everything updated adb drivers
Google USB drivers
Cannot get into USB transfer mode
Ptp mode is fine,so I move data I need to dcim folder to retrieve it.
Very annoying.
I'm wondering if full factory install will help?

All of sudden it's working

[Q] Completely different connection issue (I think)

Let me start by saying I have read dozens of threads on connection issues from the original galaxy to the s2 and none of them have worked. Here is my problem. When I plug in my phone I get a MTP connected dialogue box but kies will not recognize my phone and odin won't recognize my phone in download mode. My computer's device manager doesn't even show drivers installed or any yellow triangles at all. As a matter of a fact, my computer does NOTHING when I plug in my phone. No installing drivers dialogue box or anything. I have tried manually mounting usb storage mode to no avail. I can not transfer files, root my phone or do anything. I'm running stock EK02. Also, with usb debugging box checked my phone just charges with no pc connection at all. with usb debugging unchecked it will show the mtp connected but my computer doesn't show anything
Here is what I've tried:
Installing and reinstalling kies about a dozen times.
uninstalling and reinstalling samsund drivers
rebooting my phone
tried different computers
I EVEN BOUGHT A NEW COMPUTER (brand new nothing installed)
Then I bought a new usb cord
restarted my computer several times
checked then unchecked usb debugging just in case
Please Help, I'm completely stumped......
I can get on multiple chats for anyone interested (gtalk, facebook, irc, whatever) or take responses here. thank you in advance.

UPDATE: so it was the USB cord the while time. Apparently you should really only use the USB cord that came with the phone, which I lost and had to borrow from someone else.

Mass Storage Fail?

Hi all...
For some reason, my device no longer shows on any of my computers, it only charges.
Drivers were installed and working the last time I connected it, but sometime between then and now it has stopped working. I've tried restoring a nandroid backup to a point I know it worked, tried manually enabling (it just says connect cable), tried to mount usb storage in recovery, tried multiple cables, etc... no go. Next I'll probably try flashing a custom rom, but I do not think that will work either.
Am I missing something? Any ideas? Or should I just return it as defective?
Thanks
Mael
Nobody? I'm surprised...
FYI, there was Kies update released recently that may update the drivers.
While connected to the computer using USB cable try manually configure your phone as the mass storage by going to System, Wireless and network, USB utilities.
did you enable mount USB?
have you tried on another computer? like on a Linux or Mac?
don't trust what windows tells you
Thanks for the replies. Tried all that...
Booted to recovery and mounted USB storage to, no go...
Tried on my laptop and my desktops at either of my offices.
Think I'm gonna return it as defective.
Sucks, cause now I have to set everything up again...
most likely the microUSB pins are out of place, loose or damaged

Galaxy S3 Charging But Not Syncing To PC

Hello my fellow xda peeps, I recently got my Galaxy S3 fixed because of crazy charging problems, and had to replace the charging port. Now it charges fine, but why can't I sync to the PC with USB connection? There's no "Connected To Media Device" in the notifications, it only charges. I have tried different cables and have wiped cache in the stock recovery(not rooted), I have taken out the battery waited 30 seconds and put it back in, enabled USB debugging, disabled USB Debugging, dialed *#7284# and tried MODEM and PDA and have tried under USB Settings MTP + ADB and MTP, I have also tried different USB ports in the computer. I have reinstalled Kies Drivers and troubleshooted on Windows. I really want to root again.
-Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey, I just had my charging port replaced and i'm having the same issue with not being able to sync / connect to my computer. I was wondering if you ever found a solution.
Thanks!
Chris
Not sure if this works here, but works like a charm every time and not many people know about it but try it:
Boot Download Mode>Hit Up>Connect to PC>Windows should recognize and look for updates for the drivers>Check the status of the driver install Note: If everything is complete, continue>disconnect>remove battery then put back in>
boot normally> Connect to PC>Voila
Hope this helps!

USB charges but no data

Hi, my phone stopped being able to get a USB data connection. The port is physically intact and does not wiggle. I've tried two different Macs and one PC, different USB-A to -C cables (all verified by Benson Leung). Also toggled USB debug, MTP and PTP modes from Developer Options, rebooted phone and computer. When I plug the phone in, it only goes to Charging mode. Android File Transfer doesn't see it and 'adb devices' comes back empty. There is no notification offering me to select connection type. Did I miss anything or is it time to send it in? Thanks, Tony
What OS are you running on your Windows - checking your Device Manager under Control Panels - are all the Google / N5X drivers installed and working correctly before this ? Try uninstalling, reboot PC and re-install them - and, use different USB port to connect the cable (what kind of connections are you using ??)
Can you run ADB ?
Thanks I'm primarily using a Mac (10.10.5) but the PC was running Vista. It was a borrowed PC so I didn't install the drivers. I don't think it's a driver issue though since nothing shows up in device manager and the phone doesn't offer to switch out of charge-only mode. Also the same Mac worked previously.

Unable to read internal storage.

I have tried three cables, three different ports, and all I get is something to install drivers. (See attachment) Is there something simple I'm missing? I want to transfer my backup to my pc before I flash global. ADB works fine, haven't tried fastboot yet.
Did you enable file transfer on your phone in the usb settings?
Also try disabling ADB Debugging. It also might be a driver problem so you could try to reinstall the android drivers.
If all fails you get transfer data via ftp there are a lots of apps for that.
