Has anyone noticed that with the latest google navigation, the nice phone lady no longer warns you when your turn is coming up? She just blurts out, "Turn left." when you're in the far right lane maybe 20 yards from the intersection. She used to say, "In 200 feet, turn right," then after a bit, "Turn right." Is there a way to get my verbal warning back, or has Google really just made their navigation almost useless?

I noticed that as well. While I don't use navigation that often, it was very noticeable when it was missing. Almost missed my exit.
I thought it was just a glitch, or that I missed it being said. Glad to know it's not just me.

The only thing I can think that makes that make sense is they're assuming everyone is using a mount and keeping the screen on like a real GPS nav unit, so they can see their turn coming up. But that's a bad assumption.

Hmmm, could be. It would be a huge oversight on their part if that is true.
Funny, because I would be using a mount if they made one that fit the phone while in a case. I bought tje docks (both car and desk) and returned them because of this. I'm not going to take my phone out of the case every time I want to use a dock.

Yah. I dont know why they did that
Maybe we should make a fuss in the comments in the play store.

Hadn't noticed this, but that does suck. My gf got me a dock from radio shack that fits the hercules with a case on it

Yeah I noticed that as well but I had already given up google nav for Waze. Waze has much better fluid directions ahead of time - plus it has speedtrap and traffic alerts as it's a social networking navigator app. Way way better.
i use both Google Nav and Copilot. Nav became more convenient so I use it almost daily. However after the update came the "New (soft) lady voice" and I hate her. She speaks to soft and I can't hear her as well. I want the loud booming robotic voice back but don't know where to find it.
That leads into my second issue with Nav. The two ladies seem to start and finish each others directions.
example:
(slv - soft lady voice): now take upcoming left... (LBRV takes over) IN 300 FEET, NOW TAKE LEFT
CONTINUE ALONG GENERIC... (slv) road for 100 feet and arrive at your destination.
Its annoying.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the new voice either.
Has anyone else noticed their instructions getting cut off? Usually when I'm using navigation I'm also listening to music over bluetooth. Since getting ICS it seems like the music doesn't get turned off fast enough, and sometimes gets turned back on too soon, so I can't hear if I was supposed to turn onto Cedar Rd, or Cedar Ave or what.
Okay this is getting weird now... I got a third lady in there. Cheerful & Perky. Where the hell did she come from?
Now I get directions from all three.
I just want the original booming robotic lady voice again.
To top it off on my S3, I only have SLV and C&P.
C&P is a step up from SLV but still not as loud as BRV.
C&P sounds exactly like the voice in this Google Search comparision:

You may have a separate issue altogether. Do you have more than one TTS engine installed? If so, you may want to try getting rid of one or two. Check settings under language and keyboards and see if you can disable all then check one to work.

Thanks but nope, that is not it. I haven't installed voice packs. The only thing I can think of is that happened after a Google Maps Update or after the ICS update. All three ladies will speak during Navigation. I swear I'll have to get video of it somehow.

Clear data/uninstall reinstall? After that, I'm out of ideas. Maybe flash AOKP, since it won't let anyone use any voice other than Google TTS.

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere in this sub-forum. I did a search and nothing turned out. So, I just got the OGP and have been extremely happy with it. Tried Google Now voice search, and while it has no problem recognizing my speech and giving me answers, it will not speak back to me. I have language set to English and Speech Output set to Always Speak. Apps volume is set all the way up too. Will anyone here have any suggestions to solve this issue? Thank you in advance.
Anyone?

I guess it depends on what u asked I tried a few things. Only got the webpages without a response. I said "talk to me" and Google voice talked to me. Try it and see if that works for u.

Thanks. At what point did you say "talk to me"? My wife's Galaxy S2 talks back with any simple question (like "what is the capital of Illinois?") The OGP just shows the answer and the map. I set Google Now to always speak back (and the app volume is up), so I am trying to figure out why it's not working. It's a bummer.

I don't know excatly. My guess is that it might has to do with lg software not fully working with all the Google now features? And I said it like after 3 tries.

You have to make sure your phone's sound is on. It will not work in Vibrate Mode, even if you have app sounds on and Speech Output set to Always Speak. Just tested and it worked with ringer turned on, but not when set to Vibrate.
Phone sound is on. Google Now speech output is set to Always Speak. Media volume is all the way up. Still, zippo, nada.
Worst part. My wife keeps on egging me that her two-year old S2 does it, and my "big and fancy-schmancy" G Pro does not.
You need to turn the System Volume up, not media volume.

I reset my device in order to push the latest update. It worked but now its constantly prompting "OK Google". I tried restarting, resetting and yes using several voice commands. What am I missing?
Nvm. I had to initiate the voice command multiple times for it to go away. I was a little hasty between resets lol
Hello.
Finally i'm not alone!
Can you please help me dissolve it ?
I tried talking to the watch a lot of times it's still here o.o
As it seems you did the same, I really don't get it...
Thank you!
EDIT : Solved by doing like you said. You really really have to insist and do it tons of time...
Kind of annoying.
lol, pretty funny. I just came in here to see if there was a solution yet, since I also tried saying "ok, google" a bunch of times but it didn't go away... then I saw you guys say to do it a lot of times, sure enough, just one more time did it and it's gone now. I think it was around 7 or 8 times total.
Thanks fellas
I believe after u say ok google. U have to ask it some question to make it go away. If u keep saying ok google and back out. It will come back.

This does seem to be the case. I was getting frustrated with this, after about a dozen "OK Google" and backing out it was still coming back. Four loops of "OK Google, start stopwatch" seemed to do the trick for me!
I've tried it with s voice both on and off. when I first turn it on after a reboot, it doesn't train the voice model, but it says it's on but doesn't work. It then turns itself off, and trying to turn it on results in the voice model training opening , then saying it completed successfully, then turning its self back off.
Help?
No one else has experienced this?
To shut it off...i think thats what u looking for?
Go to Google. .sertings...voice, then turn off voice detection

If you read the original post, it says I've tried with s voice and without
This really isn't unique to Lollipop, as it does this exact thing on mine which is still on kitkat. Sometimes I will hear the tone acknowledging the ok google, but will immediately hear another tone. Often the screen doesn't even turn on. Even more often it just never works, although it works pretty perfectly with the screen on.
It has nothing to do with disabling svoice, although it probably is related to Samsung's implementation of svoice. Once in a while, thE phone will fail to even acknowledge an ok google request, only to sometime later say, "if you're trying to say something I didn't get that." This seems to imply the microphone is locked in the listen position, but isn't working.
I don't know if this is just me but I cant seem to get this damn feature to work. I've trained my voice to this thing a hundred times and still it won't recognize it. I have to say it 3 or 4 times and finally, once I scream it, it might work. I look like a damn fool. Is this how it's supposed to work? By the time it does work, I could have picked the phone up and done what i was asking manually. What about when youre driving, you ask?
More than not, in the unlikely event that it will work, the phone remains locked until I enter my password. I've set the unlock-by-voice to "on" and still it will never work. What's the point if I'm driving and when it finally does recognize me, I have to pick it up and unlock it?
Has anyone else had these issues?
I'm left thinking that if Google was really pushing Google Assistant as the next big thing, they've got A LOT of work to do.
Nah. It even recognize my voice in noisy room. Although not every command would heard perfectly if its too noisy. But in a normal siatuation, it pick up 95-99% of my command and do it properly

Never had an issue with the Assistant. Works in 98% of cases. Could it be that the microphone on the phone is defect?
I don't think so. It seems like once it's woken up, it acts better. The super annoying part is when the phone hears me but requires me to input my unlock code. why wouldn't it just wake up?

Also using "Hey Google" which works a treat, by passes lock screen, and has a sweet voice!

You have to go into Google Now>Settings>Devices>Phone>Unlock With Voice Match
That should take care of the issue.
