I reset my device in order to push the latest update. It worked but now its constantly prompting "OK Google". I tried restarting, resetting and yes using several voice commands. What am I missing?
Nvm. I had to initiate the voice command multiple times for it to go away. I was a little hasty between resets lol
Hello.
Finally i'm not alone!
Can you please help me dissolve it ?
I tried talking to the watch a lot of times it's still here o.o
As it seems you did the same, I really don't get it...
Thank you!
EDIT : Solved by doing like you said. You really really have to insist and do it tons of time...
Kind of annoying.
lol, pretty funny. I just came in here to see if there was a solution yet, since I also tried saying "ok, google" a bunch of times but it didn't go away... then I saw you guys say to do it a lot of times, sure enough, just one more time did it and it's gone now. I think it was around 7 or 8 times total.
Thanks fellas
I believe after u say ok google. U have to ask it some question to make it go away. If u keep saying ok google and back out. It will come back.

This does seem to be the case. I was getting frustrated with this, after about a dozen "OK Google" and backing out it was still coming back. Four loops of "OK Google, start stopwatch" seemed to do the trick for me!

Hey, it looks like you've already started a thread about this in the generic sgs3 forum. Let's answer some questions:
What network is your s3 on?
Is your phone on the stock samsung ICS or have you flashed something else?
Have you tried plugging your phone into the samsung Kies software to get an update?
Let's start there. The more information you can provide the better.
Ian
Phone > Menu > Call settings > Accessory settings for call
Make sure Automatic answering is turned off.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S III
At&T
Stock
Apex launcher
Ive tried turning off different settings. Im aware of ALL settings in this phone and have still not been able to remedy this...
Latest update....
Did the phone ever answer properly?
Sounds like automatic answering is on (even though you've confirmed it isn't) , or you have some kind of app that is interfering with the answer in process. As much as it's a pain, I'd backup important data (contacts, sms message history, bookmarks, game saves, pictures etc) and do a full factory reset:
Go to Settings
Privacy
Factory Data Reset
Reset Phone
Erase Everything
It would bring your phone back to day 1 and possibly correct a software glitch. I'm not confident that it would work but I would try it to be sure.
I cant remember if it ever did...
Im gonna wait till after the JB update to see if that changes anything. I turned off "answer with home button" and it didnt do it last call so maybe that worked?
I have no idea.
Factory reset is prolly the best option though
I subscribed to your thread because my wife's AT&T S3 does the exact same thing. Very frustrating because mine does not do it. Might have to try the factory reset as well.
yeah, its pissing me off.
It seems to only happen when i dont want to answer that persons call!

did that yesterday and it seems to be working thus far..
thx
It would be funny if the ringtone was being picked up and triggering the voice cmd..... kinda pathetic
Reminds me of my friend, who had sensor enabled and big paws. When he was dialing one of his fingers would come close to sensor, and screen would go black. He had SGS3 from Sprint. I disabled screen off - he was the happiest man ever!
I never would have thought of the voice command answer setting. Never used the feature myself. You'd think it would have some kind of noise canceling feature to prevent that from happening, or at least a prompt telling you that ring tones may interfere. Funny stuff.
Well at least if it's solved you don't have to wipe
Ian
I was fiddling with my phone settings and testing a few features. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT ENABLE THE TALKBACK FEATURE.
After enabling this feature, my phone began to freeze on every screen while the voice assistant keeps speaking as I try to press anything on the screen. The entire phone just bugs out. Can't swipe or scroll. Can't select anything. Can't get to the settings to disable the talkback feature because I can't scroll. Can't do anything basically.
So, here I am with a brand new unusable HTC One M8. This is my 2nd NEW HTC One M8 that has defective software. My first one couldn't read any SIM cards after 3 new SIM cards were attempted by a T-Mobile rep.
Try factory reset.

Can't. As I mentioned, I cannot swipe or scroll. Factory reset requires scrolling to 'Factory Reset'. Not only that, I cannot select anything unless I get "lucky". The phone doesn't do anything I want it to do. I have a vid of the issue but I can't link it to this thread because I'm a new user.
If you have an HTC One M8, you can test this feature yourself and let me know if you run into the same problem but I warn you... if you run into the same problem, you will need to get it replaced and your phone won't work. Would be nice to know if this is a common problem but I'm not sure people are willing to take that chance and basically break their phone on purpose. It's like telling someone to press the big red self-destruct button to see what happens lol.
Factory reset from the bootloader..... and talk back works fine. And if it does fail on my phone i re install my rom, i love my unlocked, s-offed M8. Makes it all so easy

How do I do that exactly?
Wish I could show you the vid, then you'll understand exactly how impossible it is to do anything.

Nvm, I figured out how to factory reset when powering it on. I guess my Talkback feature is just unusable?

Sorry, I think you're misunderstanding my previous explanation. I cannot swipe nor can I scroll. I cannot select anything. The entire phone becomes bugged/glitched. You'd be amazed if you could watch the short video I made of it. It's more extreme than you think. Everything just goes haywire.
I'd like to say I'm a very tech savvy person since I do a lot of computer-related design, I can build computers, troubleshoot viruses, clean my registry, and "techie" things. I'm not just some average consumer who bought a phone and doesn't know how to use a smart phone. I'm very proficient with smartphones. With that said, there is seriously something wrong with the Talkback function. Enabling it almost feels like a virus is attacking the OS. I honestly don't need to use that particular function but what if one day I do or someone else might need to use it.
I actually got a new replacement yesterday and I'm not even going to touch that function whatsoever until I find some answers and a possible solution. I have everything synced to my new phone with my contacts, multiple email accounts, apps, social media, etc. and I'm not going to risk running into that problem and being forced to factory reset my phone. If you know the pain of having to reinstall your OS on a PC which I've done dozens of time throughout the years then you'll understand how painful that process really is because you have to reinstall all your software again.
I found another bug on my new phone as well and made a thread about it already. +/- for Selfie Mode doesn't work. Just greaaaaaat.
n
u need to use 2 fingers when scrolling
LOOOOL...ROFLLLLL...
I remember the first time I ever turned talkback on. "Panic" should be included as an official feature. Obviously, like our friend here, I didn't bother to read all the operational instructions that came with it, and thought for sure I had killed my phone.
Hint: you really have to use "2 fingers" to go anywhere!
Cheers

Having lots of difficulties with "OK Google" on this watch. Bluetooth stays connected fine and so does wifi because i'm getting all my notifications instantly and it doesnt say that im disconnected. When I say OK Google the prompt comes up to speak...but only like 4 of the 30 times I tried did it actually work and not show the cloud symbol. I restarted the watch a couple times and the same thing happens, i've also done a factory reset since purchasing the watch 4 days ago. Thoughts? Thanks.

I found it to be very hit or miss as well.

I've not had it work once yet. The mic works as if I manually launch it everything seems fine.
I've tried restarts, factory resets & all the above. I'm pretty close to returning in all honesty as the voice launch is a huge deal for me!
I use my Huawei Watch with a OnePlus One on stock COS12.1 and have the same problem.
A lot of times when I use the watch to say "Okay Google" it will tell me it's disconnected. The only work-around I found was to quickly wake up the phone and it would start working right away. It seems like the internet pauses if my phone has been idle too long. I receive notifications in real time so I don't know what's really causing it.
I had the same problem with the huawei and a dutch HTC one M8.
The problem was gone after changing "Google voice typing primary language" from dutch in english.
And teach Google the sound of my voice in "OK Google" detection =>> From any screen.
Try turning off the restricted data for google app and google play services under Data Usage in settings.

I find it very hard for it to recognise my Australian accent. However, when I put on an American accent it works 100% of the time!
Any way of fixing that?

Did you try going into Google Settings on your phone? There's an option to retrain the voice model in there.

HI mate, yes I've done that countless times to no avail unfortunately. It works fine on my phone, but it's like retraining the voice model has no effect on the Huwaei Watch.

Dang, I was wondering about that. Sorry!
I don't know if this is just me but I cant seem to get this damn feature to work. I've trained my voice to this thing a hundred times and still it won't recognize it. I have to say it 3 or 4 times and finally, once I scream it, it might work. I look like a damn fool. Is this how it's supposed to work? By the time it does work, I could have picked the phone up and done what i was asking manually. What about when youre driving, you ask?
More than not, in the unlikely event that it will work, the phone remains locked until I enter my password. I've set the unlock-by-voice to "on" and still it will never work. What's the point if I'm driving and when it finally does recognize me, I have to pick it up and unlock it?
Has anyone else had these issues?
I'm left thinking that if Google was really pushing Google Assistant as the next big thing, they've got A LOT of work to do.
Nah. It even recognize my voice in noisy room. Although not every command would heard perfectly if its too noisy. But in a normal siatuation, it pick up 95-99% of my command and do it properly

Never had an issue with the Assistant. Works in 98% of cases. Could it be that the microphone on the phone is defect?
I don't think so. It seems like once it's woken up, it acts better. The super annoying part is when the phone hears me but requires me to input my unlock code. why wouldn't it just wake up?

Also using "Hey Google" which works a treat, by passes lock screen, and has a sweet voice!
I have the same problem. Sometimes it takes forever to activate, and sometimes it doesn't listen when it does. I'm also having constant gps issues. May rma soon

You have to go into Google Now>Settings>Devices>Phone>Unlock With Voice Match
That should take care of the issue.

Wait seriously? I thought we were poking fun at the Italian grandmother trying to talk to the Google home...well, glad it worked for you lol.
PS if you don't know what I'm talking about, look it up on YouTube.
So I just recently flashed a build of DU to my phone and when I say 'Hey Google' the phone vibrates to prompt me that the command was understood and it is ready to listen. On stock it always would beep instead of vibrating when I did this. I prefer the beep cause if I am not near my phone I know it is ready for a command. Is there anyway to change this? I've looked through all the settings I can think of and can't seem to find anything to change it. I'm probably just overlooking it. Thanks in advance!
If you turn on any accessibility option in setting you will get it back. Sadly this is the direction google has gone with assistant. There are huge threads on this since you can't tell if the phone is ready if you don't look at it (like in your car). Many people are irritated by this and google has pretty much told us all to take a jump.
