Help please! - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

I have Mi 6, Miui 9.2.3 global unlocked bootloader, updated to 9.5 GLOBAL, found latest modified twrp 3.2.1.0 (with whom I was able to create backup) flashed it, made backup, wiped data, flashed EPIC global, ended in BOOTLOOP, wiped it flashed xiaomi.eu 9.2.3 couldn't even start properly, restored backup of 9.5 global, and flashed magisk 16, verified NOT rooted, tried to root with king lingo root, NO Success. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
HELP PLEASE.

Phone bricks when trying to flash new ROM?!

I'm currently running my OP3 on Resurrection Remix 5.7.4 (MM 6.01), the phone has the latest version of TWRP and I've flashed other ROMs in the past without any issue
RR has proven to be quite unstable for me, the system UI keeps crashing, which renders the phone unusable until after a reboot so I wanted to flash Freedom OS as that worked quite well for me previously. When I tried to flash the ROM in TWRP the ROM seemed to flash successfully but when I rebooted, only the boot logo showed and then the screen went black and the phone refused to respond at all for about two hours, after that exactly the same thing happened. I managed to boot into recovery and tried flashing a different ROM but the result was the same every time, the only way to get the phone to work normally was to flash RR again/restore from a Nandroid backup, either way, the result is the same, I'm stuck on an unstable ROM and I don't know why, the last time I flashed these ROMs they worked fine, I followed all of the instructions for flashing said ROMs to the letter, I have the latest version of TWRP, etc.
Seems TWRP can't mount /system, in TWRP under "mount", system is unchecked, I checked it and tried again but found that whenever I rebooted the phone or attempted to flash a new ROM, it would always uncheck itself and flashing the ROM would fail, however strangely flashing the same version of RR was always successful. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
I would suggest you clean flash OOS first before going to Freedom.
I think RR is based on Lineage OS while Freedom is based on stock OOS.

RR is based on CM. I'm just scared to flash OOS in case it goes wrong because stock OOS will overwrite TWRP with its stock recovery and then I'll be screwed because I'll have no way to restore from a backup if it goes wrong

Yeah I thought it seemed a little out of place but I don't know where to post it? Is there a general questions forum?

I don't think that there is a risk in flashing stock OOS. But if the custom recovery is overwritten then flash it back, your backup files are stored in your internal memory and unless you wipe it you are safe.

Even when I tried flashing other CM based ROMs, including ones I'd flashed before, it failed, only flashing RR actually worked. I don't know why this is the case but I'm not sure flashing OOS without knowing what the issue is, is the solution because if I lose TWRP there's no telling whether I'll be able to flash it back in fastboot if the phone isn't working properly

I once flashed RR based on android 7.1.1 and because I did not like it very much I wanted to go back to Freedom but at that time it was based on android 7.0.1 thus I was unable to boot. Maybe you are facing the same issue. But in my case I hardbricked my device and used the unbricking tool from OP3 forum.
If you download the latest OOS zip file you can flash it through TWRP and you won't lose you custom recovery.

All of the ROMs I tried with were android 6.0.1, I'm avoiding touching android 7 because I'm not a fan
The strange thing is that in TWRP under "mount", system is unchecked and it won't stay checked when I reboot or try to flash something and then the flash fails. Strangely however, I can flash RR afresh and it will work but nothing else works
Therefore I don't think OOS would work either

Can't install custom ROMs

Hi all!
I'd like to share a problem that I've been having for two days now and that I can't solve by myself.
See, I can't flash any custom ROMs. I had no problem unlocking it and flashing TWRP but while I can flash the Global or China version of Miui, I can't flash Lineage or RR.
At first, I had the error 7 code, and I did the assert trick I was able to flash but then my mix 2 was stuck in bootloop.
I tried a fastboot format userdata as it was suggested in RR's thread but it didn't work and the method quoted didn't work either.
I've read a few threads where they talked about how the partition were encrypted and had to be formated but I didn't find any clear tutorials (or i'm really blind an idiot, which is possible)
I don't know if it can help, but I did wipe dalvik/cache/data every time before flashing
For now, I've switched back to Global but would really like if anyone could help me going stock ;_;
EDIT: I've also used the Format Data option in TWRP but it didn't have any effects or I used it at the wrong time, which is, once again, quite possible
don't give up bro
Did you find out any solve?
Full wipe- type yes
Reboot back into recovery and then try installing the roms

Maybe try going completely back to MIUI9 global with Miflash/XiaomiTool. After that re-flash TWRP. Format data, reboot recovery, Full wipe, Install ROM and Gapps, reboot system. This should work fine.

Stuck on TWRP after trying to update to 9.0

Hey there,
I've been using an old beta of OmniROM Oreo for months now, but wanted to try the 9.0 ROMs that are out there. I followed the instructions in both the Lineage and Omni threads and updated to the TWRP that's needed, then flashed the chiron firmware that's needed, then wiped all and formatted data, then installed the ROM. When I went to flash the rom, TWRP told me that my filesystem was read only and suggested I leave it that way for security. I said OK, everything installed fine, but when it restarts it fails to boot the OS and then reboots into recovery (TWRP). I have tried flashing the firmware, different ROMs, etc., but not getting anywhere.
I'm assuming this is related to leaving the filesystem read-only, but not really sure.
Anyone know what I did wrong? And how to fix it?
Thanks

How to update 10.4.5.0 to 11.0.3.0?

My phone is running on 10.4.5.0 EU, rooted and twrp recovery installed. Preloader not installed (it was released later).
I'd like to update as safe as possible to 11.0.3.0 EU or 11.0.6.0 global (not sure about the differences).
Normally I would just backup, flash full rom, wipe cache and reroot if necessary.
Now I'm thinking to backup, flash preloader, flash full rom, reflash preloader, wipe cache, reroot and reflash recovery. Will this work?
Did someone successfully update rooted to MIui 11 without wiping data?
This is my daily driver, I can't afford risking brick and having to bring it to service center.
Thanks in advance
Bump. Anyone?
EDIT : Now i see that you have A9 MIUI 10. Think that preloader works, but not sure. Anyway, find FASTBOOT rom of EU version Android 9 MIUI 11, after that flash preloader and do everything like i written down...
I switched many roms with this method...
The most important thing is to have Android 9 and miui 11. I managed to install Android 10 with miui 11 indonesian with just flashing FASTBOOT rom with miflash pro tool... Reverted back normally with Android 9 miui 11 golbal FASTBOOT rom with same procedure...
The most important thing is that preloader. Before anything, flash preloader, after that you can go and play with different roms and recoveries. But beware, after flashing recovery MIUI rom with custom recovery, the rom will replace patched preloader, and recovery, so you will have to flash it again, but only if you are on Android 9 miui 11. As long as i know, i think that there is no patched preloader for Android 10, so if u are going to play only with Android 9, Miui 11, this is the procedure...
I did the update that way, without deleting the data partition. Everything went ok, but when I fixed everything, I had a strong battery consumption, at least with the gps, data, wifi turned off, even in airplane mode, my battery would run out overnight, ie my cell phone was constantly active regardless of whether I use it or not. I found no cause. Some icons have remained old regardless of the theme and type of icons. The Poco launcher was terribly slow to me and trotted a little while scrolling. I gave up and did a new installation. Transferred all my stuff to pc, downloaded 11.0.3.0 firmware (3.2gb) and with miuiflash made a fresh installation (delete all without locking). And that's all it works, I'm satisfied now, I have over 10 hours of sot with gps, data, youtube and other things. The best way is fresh install in my case. Later I put twrp recovery and magisk manager and that’s it.

Encryption TWRP Unbreakable

What has happened to the Redmi Note 8 in recent ROM updates?
After installing stock Global MIUI 12 I can no longer do anything with TWRP. Everything is encrypted and I can't flash Zips or ROMs or Wipe Data or Format. I can install TWRP and have tried several builds but I can do nothing. I've attempted to run verity and it soft bricks it, I've tried probably everything I can find but I get nothing but red errors and the system files are all gobbledeegok from TWRP. Can not install anything. What changed? Why did it change and how can I get this rooted again? Without root the Note 8 is nothing but a screen full of ads and is full of pre installed spyware and I hate it.
I have tried to back date as far as I can but the only flashes it allows me are the fastboot ROMs from their repository.

Try installing orange fox recovery instead for Redmi note 8

then why using miui in the first place
anyway, put the Ofox zip in external SDcard and flash it, then flash DFE and format data
Oh, it was because the custom ROM kept being junk.
