Pixel 2 XL, as I see many people say, is the best phone i've ever owned. I've owned Nexus 4 and Nexus 5X. My last ones were Xperia XZ and S7 Edge. Sincerely, Pixel 2 XL makes XZ and S7 look like a toy when I hold then in my hand
It was very hard to find a defect on Pixel 2 XL, however unfortunately it happened. Travelling to another city I set Waze and then google maps just to see GPS fix was not successful, only at times. Then I searched here this forum a user saying that turning off mobile data could help. It did, most of the time I disable mobile data, GPS fixes instantly.
It would be hard for me to get a replacement, since there's no google store in my country.
Can this problem be solved? Thanks!

Try reflashing the stock firmware then doing a hard wipe to see if it's a defect. If that doesn't fix it then you're SOL until you get home I think

I would argue that it is Waze's fault. I hate that app more than any other app. jk I know it's not waze's fault...I just seriously HATE it.

ya the directions aren't as good for me and it is impossible for me to log into old accounts sometimes (I've lost 2 crown accounts). Seriously...you are owned by Google now, attach to my Google account.
Sorry about the hijack of the thread! I haven't heard about any GPS issues so the suggestion to start from scratch is the best I can think of

if the root process is available for the vzw galaxy nexus by the time i get home, i will root it instantly. like you said, google wallet is the biggest reason followed by the fact i need to tether. google wallet isn't unsecure, i use it on my nexus s daily and wouldn't give it up for the world.

That is an extrmely good point. I left part of me behind when I left my 3vo, and this is the first thing that came to mind when I get home with it from work tomorrow. Not now. Def gonna leave it the way it is for a week or so.....but we'll have to see how that goes haha

The big security flaw is using your phone on ANY cell phone service. They track who you call, how long your calls are, who you txt, what the txt is, what cell towers you're connected to, when you pay your bill, with what credit card or check, also your name, address, oh and they know your phone number!

I plan to use a lot of time exploring the phone on stock for about 10 days and then root.
Won't be rooting, see no need for it.

i rooted mine on the first day, mostly becouse i want a recovery backup on the stock rom from day 1 with clockwork recovery.
I guess there is some consumer appeal, but really, why buy a Nexus if you have no interest in an unlocked phone? My decision to buy a Nexus was far less about firmware updates than it was about my right to own the hardware that I paid for.
To be honest, I didn't read the thread (shame on me), but these topics puzzle me. To each his own.

I'll root when CM9 hits beta or if a good stable nightly.
Yes, but so far only to be able to restore app data (ie Angry Birds) from my old phone. I'm totally cool with the built-in ICS disable/freeze feature for the apps I don't want, I think that's an extremely fair compromise over rooting and deleting the apk/so files.
Not too concerned about Wallet yet, we'll see how that pans out if it's something we'll need to root for or just something we can head to the Market and install without any issue. I would like to try it out and have zero confidence that the competing ISIS thing won't completely suck in comparison, so if root is needed, root it is!

If you want a private conversation phones are not the way to go. Back in the day we had to hard tap your line for LE with warrant. Now with CALEA and digital switches they can monitor traffic anywhere anytime w/o warrant.
Sometimes we put lines on speaker all day to monitor for noise. If your neighbor had wet line issue or cross talk we might monitor your line for noise. I worked in a 900 number telephone switch in California we have to check lines for "traffic" or people talking before working on them. It was awkward. Now I can monitor phone calls from my computer. Of coarse I don't unless it is for work I don't want to end up in Guantanamo.
Wow how off topic WTF happened?
Are you guys experiencing the same issues as release week~ units? or have custom roms eliminated the issue...?
Its $679 for 2 yr Snap 600 or same price for Exynos5 on newegg at the moment...so, choices! I received a broken note 2 and have gone through hell & back again with tmo to put a GS4 Replacement EIP up with remorse because they botched up the first order for the GS4 EIP Replacement so badly.
I doubt there will be many people here with the 5/16 Batch since there werent so many to begin with since it went right into backorder again to point they're shipping as received with no real date anymore.

If you go into QA & Help and in general theres a multitude of issues many people are experiencing...
Well I've had mine since the 30th, and I think I'm like most in saying I've experienced no real issues. An update came out within a week that improved performance among other things. Every phone as bad copies, and it's luck of the draw if you do get a bad one. Fact is, people are 100x more likely to leave a review of something is wrong verses everything being OK. So I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Nor do I think they've changed their production setup. If anything because of continued global demand, production line employees/suppliers may be under more pressure now and likely to make oversights.

i'm getting one from the 5/16 batch. going through exchange via buyers remorse. ordered yesterday morning and will be here monday. my brother got a release day (online) phone and his is perfect. it's become the norm for me to usually have to exchange the first phone...
whats wrong with yours if I may ask.

Lol ... paranoid people find issues in all batches. Have zero issues from the device bought on launch day.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2
I was one of the few (many) that got the phone from the original batch on launch day and had problems with the wifi. After much research, attempting every "fix" I could find and my own trial-and-error I determined that it had to be a power-related hardware fault within the Broadcom chip so I sent the phone to Samsung. They either couldn't fix it or didn't even try because they've shipped me a new phone. Hopefully it'll be from the newer batches - I'll know Tuesday and will update with results!
I dipped my entire phone into glitter then pissed on it. And it still works flawlessly.
...
I got my device on launch as well, so far the only thing that has been bugging me is the lag due to getting the T-Mobile My Account app keeps FC'ing. I'm thinking if I should root the phone and get rid of a few stuff or just flash a new rom altogether. Still waiting on when the Google S4 will come into play. I still have time until the Google version comes out that I can return my phone =)

Had mine for less than one week and i have not experience any issues.... no problematic lag or heating... not sure what else was "real" issue?? i am running the new OTA update as well.. so that might have "fixed" some of these problems.
could be a case of a few (maybe very few) phones causing lots of "noise" (problems being reported) ... just my 2cents
the wife had the same issue - i uninstalled the "my account" updates from inside the play store - and then there was no upgrades the next time i went into the play store. works much better with the "factory version"
I have the dlink wifi issue. I tried running a linksys router to one of the dlink port which worked but I have to turn bluetooth off. Really odd. I'm getting another one tomorrow so I'll post if the new batch is any better.

Wondering if anyone has dealt with having to return a Nexus 7 2013 that has problems? I got my new Nexus 7 LTE 32g - JLS36C on Tuesday Sept.17 and charged it up then went through set-up. It immediately updated from something to JLS36C as I set up the wifi. Walked out of the room and wifi went away. After extensive testing found that if I get more than 10 feet away it will not stay conneced on 2.4ghz and will stay on 5ghz up to 15 feet from my router. So I called, followed their script of re-setting the unit and going through setup again. At that time was told I would have a new Nexus 7 sent out. Then got an email that said it could take 2 days for a response from a "Specialist". Two days later the same person wanted to know what router I had, so I sent that back and asked where the shipper was on the replacement. By email she said a specialist had to review my case. WTF, I have given them detail test measurements with 2 other devices, one being my Nexus 4. It is now 5 days and nothing. So what do I have to do? Has anyone had this problem?
Call them and ask to talk to a floor supervisor. Be very persistent no matter what they say. They don't actually work for Google they work for a third party company. So the initial people who answer the call will only do as their manual tells them too. Tell them also that u tried on someone's else's WiFi and still get the same result. But u want a floor supervisor cause they can actually make a judgment call.

Yea buying directly from Google is a pain. But I always end up doing it because they will replace your device for up to a year no matter what. It can be BS dealing with them but if I'm 10 months down the road and my screen stops working I can get a replacement. Compared to let's say Walmart I have 30 days and then I have to deal with asus directly for any issues. But I feel your pain bro trust me. Also like if the n7 gets some hardware fix a few months from now I can call Google and tell them my n7 is Rebooting like crazy and get the newer hardware which is always a positive.

As the title asks, anyone regret buying this phone? I will be ordering mine shortly, but I have seen a few issues, like aluminium coating peeling off, purple tint in camera photos, back glass part being awfully scratch prone etc., so got me thinking a bit. Who are already using it, does it feel like worth the most expensive Android phone on the market?
I've been nothing but pleased with it. I always keep my phones in a case. I was really happy with my Nexus 6P and this phone has been the next logical step from that. Haven't once been disappointed by it.
No regrets so far after 2 weeks. Normally I've been the type that goes back to iOS after I play with Android quite a bit, but in my opinion, Google has achieved the stability of iOS on this phone. The only thing I miss is iMessage but it's really not that huge of a deal.
I just don't like the size. When i go back and hold my Axon 7, it feels tiny in comparison!
Thanks guys. So 100% positive feedback then. The main two reasons I am considering this are the software experience and the camera, while former is the main thing. Just having a mental cancer using these Samsung phones for long term. I have been told Pixel has THE BEST Android experience so far, I just wanted to know whether that's true or not.

I'm curious as to what things work with Google Now but not with the Assistant.
Assistant can't read you your text messages is the biggest one for me. Can't start stopwatch or do lists in Keep. Just does one list. There might be more but that's what I can think of right now.

Agreed. I have no problem with the dimensions and while many knocked it, I'm finding myself indifferent to the design language of the Pixel.
The phone runs like a dream. Unfortunately in my experience, Assistant does not. It really should be able to do some of the more basic things but to hold me over I've been using IFTT to somewhat offset it's limited functionality.

Also the Bluetooth problem with GM products drives me nuts. Google takes too long to fix things. I believe Apple would have fixed that already. If it's not fixed on this next update I'm going to try really hard to return it. Doubt they will since I'm past my 15 days. I almost returned it everyday. The phone is good just too many bugs. Some were there in the previews and were never fixed. Fix those couple things and this is the best phone IMO.

I was at first a little put off by the camera. I had a note 7 for like a week before the Pixel (The nexus 6p was my daily driver until I got the note 7). I really liked the Note 7 as well. Specifically the camera. And the Pixel XL camera seemed worse at first... Then I opened the pictures on my desktop. The Pixel XL was noticeably better. The screen on the Note 7 just made them seem better due to the super high color saturation, The pixel screen is much more true and neutral. Didn't mention it earlier.
It is in fact the best Google software experience I've had to date.
A solid no. I have had is a week now and I like more each day.

Yeah about that screen, well I really wish that they calibrated in even more naturally. In the sRGB mode even the phones like OnePlus 3 defeats it, in grayscale accuracy I mean, that's the thing I don't like, its still a device which can't defeat other flagship phones like S7, iPhone 7 etc., it should have been calibrated better. I HATE over saturation of any sorts.
PS: Decision is made, buying it, just now need to decide which one. God these bezels!
Thanks a lot for all your inputs guys, appreciate it.

So I've had my XL for nearly a month, and the jury is still out. I have a Mazda, and pretty much every other time I get in the car the phone will not stay connected to the car (and the car never recognizes the phone even when the phone says it is connected). There is a solution when this happens: turn off Bluetooth, turn it back on and then manually connect to the car. Then everything is fine.
Then there is the stutter-ringing. When someone NOT on my contact list calls for the first time, the phone rings for nearly a second, then acts like a hangup, then rings again, etc. until T-Mobile times out and sends the caller to voicemail. The call log shows 4-5 unanswered calls from that caller, and when it is stuttering, it is impossible to get the timing right and answer the call. Once the caller is in the call log, though, it works fine literally every time after that. Delete the call from the log, and it starts with that caller again. Does not do this with any contact or anyone in the call log.
Finally there is the weird times when the phone decides to lock even though it is connected to a trusted device, or is in a trusted location. Like 1-3 mornings per week when the phone decides sometime over night to make me re-enter my PIN even though it is connected to my watch AND at home, both with trust relationships. The rest of the week? No problem, no lock, business as usual.
The phone is great, it is fast and mostly works as expected. But there are just enough quirks to be seriously annoying. Plus this is supposed to be a consumer phone - I was more willing to be out there on the edge with my Nexus devices, but if I gave this to my Mom I would be on endless support calls. And I paid a premium price so the expectation is much higher.
What the hell man? I'm coming from a Note 5... Never had a problem with Bluetooth or wifi.
No matter what I'm streaming through with this pixel 2 xl, it skips and stutters. Often stops songs half way through and starts playing the next track.
Can't walk 10 feet from my house without losing the wifi signal.
Didn't have this problem the last 2 years with my Samsung.

You can check your manufactured date then maybe compare to your replacement, my production date was well after the device had any complaints. Just something to look into.
Mine works fine but Bluetooth is sketchy in my Ram... Meaning it works but doesn't display anything in the radio display. My s9+ works fine.
My Bluetooth and wifi are solid. Sorry you got a bad experience. I hope exchange fixes everything.
Exchange it if you are within the period or RMA it. At most you will be without a phone for a week while they ship you a new one.
