HTC Desire constantly restarting, 5 vibrations through restart then freezing restart! This happened 40 minutes after I bought the device - I immediately returned for replacement. How common are those problems in HTC Desire? I have never had a smartphone die in my hands less than an hour since purchase. Do these problems are limited to small amount of defective devices or they are common? Do they also appear late in using device usage? I am happy I bought it with a good warranty, not a second hand deal but still... I want a device I can use, not just carry for replacement...
Sounds like a bad flash, like a ROM update didn't complete properly. Don't really hear many reports of Desires failing, except for the ones people have been fiddling with.
Of course it is normal for a hardware defect to slip in on the odd device. The Desire is not plagued by many of these though, just the odd case like your own. I think its been out long enough for any failure trends to be apparent, and be in the news and all over the forums.
So reliability is great, and I hear reports that the warranty service is amazingly good. I doubt you'll regret your purchase.
Cyaegha, there are thousands with this issue....... i think its a buggy update that has been automatically applied to the phone...... they are all over the forums.
Just to let you know, I had my phone replaced in 3 very long days, and so far the new one has no issues like that.
Hey all, I've had my G2 for over a year now and I love it. A few days ago, the phone started going haywire. The screen has become unresponsive in some cases, while in other cases, it seems to have a mind of its own. It literally starts typing and keeps typing by itself (it seems to like typing the number 4 a lot). I tried installing another rom (CM7), but to no avail. Sometimes if I have the keyboard open, it helps a bit, but it doesn't totally stop the phone from doing things on its own.
If anyone know why this is happening and especially how to fix it, please give me a heads up.
Thx

Lets just say your device has come to an end or you probably overworked it during its "youthful" days is quite common but for the time you have used it, it should still have alot of life in it i've had mine for over a year and its still cool. For the solution i think you should send it to the technical guys maybe an HTC service center or any good mobile service center cos i totally think this has nothing to do with software its hardware.
HIT THANKS IF I HELPED

It's very likely that the screen digitizer has been damaged somehow, as this random touch signal behavior is a typical telltale. As you have verified that it's not a software issue by testing it in another ROM, a screen replacement would be likely needed. Send it back to HTC for a repair/replacement if yours is still under warranty, otherwise there will be third-party repair shops that you can consider.
Thanks for the responses guys. Sounds like dtt hit the nail on the head. I'm gonna look into replacing the digitizer myself. I think I can do it without a problem, and I don't have much to lose anyway if it goes wrong since the phone is unusable right now.
How are the tablets bought in the new yr? Does it still have screen issues like us early adapters?
My first run N7 2013 has no issues at all

I guess I should clarify the question is for people that bought theirs very recently like in Dec/Jan timeframe
My point is that like everything else it's more than likely you will get a good device, the percentage of bad devices is always low, forum posts aside

I bought my Nexus 7 in December. I am not noticing any major issues so far. Although sometimes there are ghost touches after many hours of continuous usage.

after having mine for a month im noticing what i thought were just software issues.
Screen stops responding to touch randomly or takes ages to notice you have your finger on somthing
and loads of coloured splodges on the screen when showing a dark image !
grr !
i love it though but once you notice its hard not to notice!!
Mine is just a couple of weeks old, it has difficulty registering touches when laying flat

You would think Asus and Google would quietly fix the hardware on new batches. Probably a design issue that cant be easily fixed. Yes yes kudos to the ones that doesn't have screen problems.
Have mine (LTE version) about a week or so, it sometimes fails to register touch when it's on desk.
but I notice another thing that , its back is not flat?? it can spin on my desk
Had this device since it was released, it had the screen issues(incredibly annoying on apps like PS Touch and the keyboard), now bought a Note 8, rapidly noticed the better screen responsiveness. I got curious about that too, I wonder if they fixed that for the new batch, I knew that not all flo devices had those problems but nevertheless still a shame if they haven't fix that by now.

Based on the responses....apparently not.
Mine had pretty bad issues when i first got it (initial release batch), the device was even crap enough that opening youtube app would hard reset the tablet every time. After the various updates that got rolled out, there is nothing wrong with my device. So they certainly fixed things for me following customer feedback.
I bought mine back in December and it misses touches in the upper region of the screen unless it is ground with either you hands or the charger. I did a few experiments to try and fix it, one thing I noticed when I tied a thin copper wire to the USB port is that it only took a finger on that piece of wire to ground it out and it worked perfectly. My question is whether there is a ground source inside the device where I could possibly solder this wire to in order to ground it out (ie. Battery ground or something)

First nexus 7 (2012) worked flawless for over a year, gave it to mother as she needs to learn technology and bought the 2013 in November
The non presses and random presses plagued me from the start of this one but I was naive and pretended not to notice, after a few weeks I did get annoyed and wanted my old one back! (But didn't) so being I needed mine for school I didn't want to RMA right away so I kept trying to find fixes for awhile longer. About 2 weeks ago I got fed up and was about to RMA it but then decided to just try the latest factory image (haven't used stock anything in a long time)
And well, haven't had one issue with touch since!
So to all with the common touchscreen issue I suggest trying pure stock KOT49H first along with bootloader, haven't had a chance to test any custom Roms for it yet as I've been too busy but I added twrp and rooted it and still zero issues so at least for me it has been fixed
Still one of the best buys out there, even with the 2 months of annoyances

I got my N7 2013 in early December. There's a small piece of dust under the screen, near the middle. I didn't even notice it until a few weeks ago. I can see it when I'm thinking about it, but most of the time I just ignore it or just fail to notice it.
Got my N7 2013 at the end of January. No problems initially, then a few small annoyances with a crossword puzzle app that I was willing to blame on the small letterboxes. Yesterday it did a full freeze, no responses to any touches anywhere. A power reboot cleared it up. I could blame it on the 4.4.2 upgrade which I did pretty soon after I got it, but this thread leads me to believe I should be going for an rma.
I ordered the Zenwatch during those few hours they were first available online at best buy. I picked it up yesterday and only have a few days left before I need to return my Sony Smartwatch 3. I want to decide between the two, and was leaning towards the Zen because of aesthetics and I actually like the charging cradle design.....
BUT, this watch lags like crazy and then freezes completely within a few minutes of booting. Even the very first time I turned it on, it took forget to register what I had selected for language. After rebooting, I got past that and it eventually installed a software update. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to help.
After 1 or 2 cycles of dimming the screen and being woken up, the watch freezes. The phone still thinks it is connected and I can feel it vibrate when swiping down to mute/unmute, but the graphics are frozen. The side drawer doesn't activate and the only way to shut it down is to hold the power button for 10sec or so.
I've done multiple "resets" on the watch and repaired the phone, but it keeps acting the same. Is there a hard reset for this watch? Anyone else experience this?
I'd exchange it at best buy but of course they are sold out so who knows how long before they can exchange it.
This happened to me when I had the 360. It froze when I was trying to turn it off. I eventually got it off, just like you did. It never responded the same afterwards. It would freeze at random times. I assumed it was the TI processor in the 360, but I hope this is not something to expect with AW. I took mine back to BB and got a refund so I could get this watch. I hope this is an isolated event.
All the reviews have been stellar and people have seemed happy even on the fortune, so I'm sure this is isolated.
I wonder if there is a way to reload the system software from the computer to the watch? Best buy is a no-go at this time. Sold out and unable to help aside from returning and refunding it.

Based on the tracking status, I should get mine tomorrow. I'll let you know if I experience any funny business when I get mine up and running. Good Luck.
I really haven't noticed any significant lag. It's initially unresponsive sometimes which I attribute to an overly conservative cpu governor, but otherwise it's a pleasant experience.
I've had mine for almost a week now and definitely haven't seen those problems. There were updates to both the watch and phone app soon after starting up. Maybe you got a bad load on one of them. Have you tried the 'Resync apps' option from the Android Wear (Phone) settings menu? Have you tried the full factory reset of the watch? If so, sounds like dud might be the case. If of any significance, I'm connecting via a stock Sprint HTC One Max.
Yes, the watch did an update after the first successful boot, but it was laggy and had frozen during the language setup even the first time. I've done multiple factory resets to no avail, but it does not repeat the update with that (though it does require pairing to the phone again).
I wish I could manually reload the watch system software. I'm new to Android wear rooting, etc. Is it possible to manually completely reload the system software?
Yes, I've also tried the resync apps and have the latest phone software as well...

I would maybe try once with a different phone then call it a dud. I don't know enough about it either to go deeper than that.
Saga over. Returned the watch today after trying clean installs of everything last night. It would even freeze when not connected. Sucks to get a dud, but glad this seems to be a unique occurrence.
Trying out the LG G watch R (what a horrible name). Big and sporty instead of subdued, but nice nonetheless.

I was having similar issues but wanted a couple days with the watch before i posted, I just requested a RMA for the watch, love the look of it, but was having issues with random reboots, very laggy ui especially when browsing through watch faces..had one time where the watch actually locked up and required a hard reset via the button on the back..also got significant battery drain, 2 percent every it seemed 10 minutes....Hopefully the replacement is better than this one...I could live with some of the issues, but the random rebooting i can't deal with. If the 2nd is a dud mite get the sony, till then back to my trusty g watch.

Did you get your watch back? I have to send mine in too because the battery dies in 5 hours without even touching it. ASUS said it is a bug with the lollipop update so they are going to re-flash it. Also did you have to ship it yourself or did you get something in the mail.

I sent mine in cuz it wouldn't turn on. I received an RMA, shipped it to them and they had it back to me in less than a week.
Hi guys, so I bought my Find 7a from oppostyle pretty much a few days after launch, and while I had several problems along the way due to terrible software and ROM flashing not working (touch screen wouldn't work with any ROM but Color OS), I still loved my phone for it was a beautiful and a powerful device.. Yesterday it started behaving really strange, it basically doesn't let me control anything, it randomly turns the screen off and on, closes apps by itself, starts messing with my home screen, just completely uncontrollable. It got to the point that I need to keep my phone off during lectures just to keep my screen from randomly turning on and I need the battery. I'm using the latest STABLE version of Color OS (which came out a good while ago). This just started suddenly happening yesterday and I can't use the device, simply can't. Every time I want to do something it just turns the screen off mid way and when I turn it on again it's on the home screen again. I'm a little pissed since my warranty ran out (1 year warranty) and the repair prices are way too high for a device that came out as one of the first smartphones made by OPPO.
I really need your help guys. Thank you for your attention.
Here's a video of the behaviour. It acts like this on recovery too so it must not be a software issue.
