Looks like this is default option. But there is a menu in developer options to change default.

It does not work for google stock rom, even changing the default setting in dev to mtp, my phone is not not recognising mtp as default for google stock rom.

Google stock ROM? Are you sure your USB cable is OK?

Same here.
Even though MTP is supposed to be the default mode, when I plug my phone to the computer, it is in "charging mode", and every time I have to open the notification and tap tap tap to select MTP… Quite cumbersome.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A (yeah it's unofficial)
LineageOS 15.1 (I used 2 different builds, both have the exact same issue)

[Q] CM Version 11-20140113, ADB, Developer options missing. New ROM or where?

With the recent availability of the Android Wear SDK, I thought I should try developing for it, and Android in general. Got some app ideas to try out. So, in short my current ROM does not have the Settings > Developer Options option to get to Enable USB Debuggingso I can connect to my phone via ADB over USB.
My question is two fold.
Assuming I am not blind, and Developer Options really is missing, what am I messing up?
or
Which 4.4.2 build gives me the option for USB debugging and the other developer settings?

Minor but Irritating - Can't set usb connection default to Media Transfer

Not much of a problem, as problems go, but I'm tired of manually changing "usb for charging only" to media transfer every time I connect to my PC. In Developer Options I've set the USB Configuration to MTP but it doesn't make any difference, I still get "charge only" when I connect. Have I missed a setting somewhere? Thanks--
Unfortunately this is how marshmallow is setup to run.
There is an xposed module, and 1-2 apps here and on playstore to help with this.

Thanks for the tip to a simple fix. The xposed module is Use USB for Marshmallow by FemBlack; http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-usb-marshmallow-1-0-t3272072
Note that there is a procedure: the module doesn't change the USB mode, it only retains the mode you set. After installing and rebooting, my phone still showed "USB for charging" when I connected and I jumped to the conclusion that the module didn't work. But then I read the developer's post and discovered my error. Works great.

Hey I have the same problem - any solution to this?
Try Settings -> Developer Options -> Default USB Configuration -> set to File Transfer
Had same problem, changed kernels suddenly went away
Flash kernel 1.02
my issue was fixed by a reflash of the image.

USB debugging mode issue with several apps

Sorry for my English.
There are a few apps where you are not allowed to use USB debugging mode while working with them (Fate/Grand Order, Fortnite, some banking apps, etc).
Two days ago I've run into a problem with Fate/Grand Order. I turned on the debug mode and after that turned it off. However, the app still throws an error about USB debugging. The support team said that I should contact my manufacturer. I've found a theme on Xiaomi forum (can't post a link because of anti-spam) about this problem. Some users with POCO F1 have this problem too.
The only solution is factory reset.
Does anyone have the same problem?

I've tried this but nothing helped. I flashed 10.0.3.0 ROM and now everything works perfectly even after enabling/disabling USB debugging mode.
My friend also has Mi A2 Lite so I asked him to check this bug. He installed the game (he was using ROM 10.0.3.0) and after turning on and off debug mode everything worked fine. Then I asked him to install new 10.0.4.0 firmware and check this bug again. He got USB debug error even after disabling USB debugging.
So new February patch makes unable to play some games (such as Fate/Grand Order, Fortnite and so on) where it's not allowed to use USB debugging.

You need to disable developer options for fortnite to work!I'm pretty sure that the other apps also require you to disable developer options

I know, as I said earlier, it doesn't work. If you try to enable and disable USB debug for the first time on 10.0.4.0 you will get an error about USB debug.
On 10.0.3.0 everything works fine. Seems USB debugging in 10.0.4.0 firmware is kinda broken. All applications detect it as turned on.

If I disable it nothing will change. There is a bug in 10.0.4.0 firmware. USB debugging doesn't turn off completely. I'm sorry, but did you even read my message?
Ok, I know 3 people who have the same problem. Does anyone here have the same problem with 10.0.4.0?

Google play & usb debugging

Hi. I recently installed Lineage 14.1 on a Samsung S4 mini i9190. I used Odin to flash TWRP and then used TWRP to flash Lineage 14.1 + GAPPS nano onto the device. Since installing there have been a few issues. Some of the bigger issues is that I cannot open developer mode, I cannot connect via USB to my PC and Google Play Store is stuck on "Download Pending" regardless of the app I choose to install.
Some forums say that I need root access to fix the Google Play problem but when I tried to flash that file (addonsu 14.1 -arm-signed.zip), it did absolutely nothing.
So I'm needing help with these multiple issues (perhaps they're all related)
1) How can I get Google Play Store to start downloading apps?
2) Why is developer mode not working? (Tap 'Build No:' 7 times doesn't do anything)
3) How can I get USB communication with my PC? (Drivers are installed. PC recognizes that device is connected but I have no USB options on the phone and cannot see the phone via Explorer)

Thanks for your response.
1) I have no idea what F-droid is. I'll look it up.
2) correct. No developer options.
3) there is no menu available (nothing to see when swiping down), when the phone is connected via USB.

Thanks. I was looking around for another OS for S4 Mini but couldn't locate one. Are you able to assist by pointing me where to look or maybe share a link? Preferably off the XDA site.

Why off XDA? Arco68 was the official lineageOS maintainer till 14.1
