I received my moto z play today and when i opened the phone , the battery was 73 % then it started to decrease till reaching 53 % in only 32 mins screen on time , no WiFi , cellular connection or apps at all(nothing is open in the background) , screen draining only 1% , Is this unit defective? Need advice ,please.
Note: When it was 73 % , the time until the battery is empty was about 38 mins , but when it reached 53% it became 1 hour and 6 mins !!!

out of curiosity, why 4%?
wouldn't it be better to let the battery drain completely and then charge it?

Is this normal in this phone or just a defective unit? How would this method help if it is a hardware problem?...i was so disappointed ?

Hi guys!
I've bought Arc about month ago and I've noticed a problem with battery percentage, it has oscillations. For example, battery is on 25% and suddenly drops to 2 or 3% and for a while battery is on 18%, or battery is on 84%, suddenly drops to 74% and soon comes back on 85%. I've restarted the phone, repaired software but the problem is still here.
Battery life is very good, average life is 36-48 hours, but there is a problem with oscillation. Can anyone tell me what should I do?
Software version is 2.3.3.
Let me search that for you http://www.google.com/cse?q=Battery...sc.tab=0&gsc.q=Battery problem Arc&gsc.page=1
Hmmm... Why didn't I think of that?
My problem isn't 0% battery or short battery life. Read my post again and than answer me.

Best way to fix it is battery calibrate....but it needs root.
And when it drops and raise 2-3% its quite normal. My Neo doing thiskind drop raise trick when I make reboot and for me its not problem

Hi Sidious
It sounds like your battery are fluctuating more than normal, a drop of 20% is definitely not normal unless you are doing allot of booting and flashing at the same time.
One cause of the smaller oscillations could be that battery is not read as often when in deepsleep to save battery life. It might have some battery level estimations when you wake up the phone that are off by a few % when the next battery reading occur. Might also be temperature changes that also change the capacity slightly.
@ ShyamSasi
Arc isn't rooted.
@ hygge
I'm not sure what did you mean by saying that I'm doing allot of flashing and booting at the same time?

Battery sensing module automatically calibrates when it discharge from 100% to 2% or lower. So, let it discharge a few times to 2%, and try to do a light use (no games, etc) doing this, to help fuel gauge module to detect internal battery impedance and correct the % marking.

Hi Sidious
If you had the bootloader unlocked and was flashing new kernels or firmwares. I have noticed that the phone when in "fastboot" mode do not charge but consumes allot of battery, it usually shows as a sharp drop when the phone are booted up. "fastboot" can be used to flash new kernels on the phone, but I do not think this is the problem in your case when you are running the SE provided firmware only.
Hi. When I charge my HTC One X in AC Outlet, I check the battery and it´s bout 85% charged. Then I check it about 10-15 minutes later and it´s 100%. I always have a feeling like it skips the last 10%. Is this normal? I have 4.1.1. android and it´s new device, not rooted or anything ...
If you need any more info, just ask me, please. I have been using an iPhone and this is my first Android device, so I am not really familiar with everything, so I´m not sure what other specifications I should post here.
yea thats totally normal...if it's only some minutes at 100 % keept it on the charger.....even if it says it's 100 % it isn't let it then 15-30 min depends on your free time on charger and then it will be real 100

The battery meter is just an estimation of battery life. It shouldn't be expected to be that accurate (within a few or even 5 or 10%), nor should you make a habit of draining your phone to below 10% anyway.

My new honor 8 pro battery empty and shuts down exactly while at 3% when i try to switch it on. It turns on shows battery 3% and gives popup battery is low phone will shutdown in 30 seconds and it shuts down. I keep turning it back on until it stopped booting to main screen till 1% and put the charge when phone off till it reaches 100%. I did it like this for 3 cycles but still it turns off at 3%. Is it common in all honor 8 pro mobiles or mine is defective. I have tried factory restore and battery calliberation using an app in playstore at 100% still phone ****sdown at 3%. Do i return this phone for replacement? And charging battery tooks nearly 2.45 to 3 hours to full charge from 0 to 100 using provided fast charger. Please reply and help me as soon so that i can go for replacement option. Is my phone is normal pr defective?

It is normal, to save the battery, phone will shutdown at 3%. we should not dry the battery to 0% that is reason behind this. But you have drained your battery many times to checking purpose, so dont try this any more, because your mobile taking more time to charge around 2.45 to 3 hours. Normally this is not the case, it will take around 2 hours. So be safe with your battery.
Do you have Honor 8 pro? Are you also facing the same kind of activity on your mobile. Thanks.

yes of course, one month back i have checked. then i come to known i should not try this. We must put charge at least by 10%. By putting it between 15 to 20% is safe.:good:

Just don't keep doing this. Don't let your battery level go that low. It will reduce the charge holding capacity of battery faster.
It's normal for the phone to turn off at 3 percent. Nothing wrong.
And if you use your phone while charging, it will take more than 2 hours to fully charge so as the phone doesn't heats up.

My 8pro shuts down by 4%. I brought to such a low level only once. Usually I do not let it fall below 20%

Mine also shuts down at 2%. A countdown starts first.
Thanks for all the clarification. I am clear now. I usually do not check SOT. It varies day by day but battery backup is fine so far. It stays for 20 hours with moderate usage.
