Enhanced messaging?

So i finally got my phone updated. My buddy told me to turn on enhanced messaging. I dont seem to have the option in my messaging settings. Anyone know how to activate it, it seems like a cool feature and i want to try it out. But no clue if we were excluded from the feature or not
I believe AT&T disabled enhanced messaging on the Galaxy series. They tend to do that -- disable some of the cool features that Samsung put in (i.e. download booster, and certain toggles in the drop down menu)
Edit: is your friend on another carrier with it enabled?

Yea he's on a sprint note 5 and he was telling me about it.
Bummer.
Why in the world would att disable this feature??

I know the LG G3 with the marshmallow update has enhanced messaging. I was hoping for this feature and am disappointed that it's not there.

SMS APP for android phone

hi,
been away for quite some time as I have switched to iphone 6 plus and iphone 6s plus.
just bought the new note 7 and want to know if anyone can share what is the best free sms app for android phone or namely note 7
If you want the option for end-to-end encryption I'd recommend Signal.
I have been using the stock messaging app since I got the phone and it's not bad at all. I have always used Textra on my previous devices.
I've been using go sms pro. I've tried others but keep coming back to rhis one

My choice was always default or Chompsms"android"/Bitesms"ios"
I used to use Hangouts, and switched to Google Messenger a few months ago. I'm enjoying it thus far.
Material messenger. Fast. Pretty. Fluid. Closest thing to iOS messaging as far as aesthetics go
I've been using Google Messenger for a while now. It's decent but it does do the sound alert even when you have it open. I dislike this a lot and wish it just did something subtle like iMessage does but I like the clean interface so I keep it. I will say that Textra is pretty nice. My personal opinion is that Hangouts should GDIAF but that's just me.
Textra, best by far imo. Fast, neat features, customizable. Enjoy
I really like YAATA. It's very customizable.

Handcent (also called Next) SMS is my favorite. I actually DL'd and installed a bit older APK I found on google because they borked the newest update to Next/Handcent SMS somewhat, so I am using the previous version before the update. I installed all my themes I have been using for several years for Handcent and it looks and works just like I had it on my N2, N3 and N4. I really like the "private" option to put some contacts texts into a private folder separate from the main text screen. This app is so much better than messenger + or the stock sms app IMHO.
i've actually used all the sms apps mentioned here. I'm now using mood messenger. Pretty good..cute animations too hehe.
can you install all mentioned sms apps and tried them or it will crash as all will try to alert when there is sms received ?
or i must download try one for few days then delete and download another and try and see how it goes ?
sorry for being lazy to try but if anyone have previous experience, can share their experience.
I've been using android for years and while I know there are a lot of sms apps, it still surprises me how many different opinions there are on which is best. I most recently have been using textra on my note 4 and I enjoy it. But with the note 7 I decided to see if I could find a better sms app. Still looking, but thats why I came here. Textra is worth a try though.

I think you can try them all, but it will clog up your notifications with several different ones running. I disabled the stock messages app and the messenger + app and only use Handcent/Next SMS. I have tried a few others before but for me personally I really like the features, look and feel of Handcent/Next. I hear lots of people who like Textra but I personally didn't like it more than Handcent. You can try them all out for yourself though.

I like signal but they simply suck when comes to MMS. They lower the resolution on images waaaaay too much

For me and for most people, I think they would like using WhatsApp.

Dialer replacements

I kinda hate the HTC dialer, no heads-up notification, looks outdated.
I tried the Google Phone apk but the no Loudspeaker is a huge dealbreaker. (Plus it causes a double notification with HTC's dialer and Google's dialer)
Any other dialer apps that natively work with the HTC 10?

I just don't wanna go through the trouble of unlocking the Bootloader, installing a Custom Recovery and possibly rooting. Too much hassle for a Dialer :S

best texting app for pixel 2?

Issue just me... Or is the Verizon messaging app actually really good? Better than Textra dare I say?
YAATA is what I use. Best and I have been using sense alpha stage a few years ago. You can customize anything. Give it a try.
pulse
I've been using chomp sms for 5 years? here's a great review: Chomp SMS is a relic in the world of Android. It’s been around since the days of Eclair and FroYo and it was known as one of the two best SMS replacement apps. It’s still wildly popular today and for good reason. There is theme support that lets you make your text messages look how you want it to look. Included also is over 800 emoticons, widgets, quick reply pop ups, and even SMS blocking if you’re tired of getting texts from a number. If you need something with a lot of theming options, this is among the best options out there for you. Beware, though, it is a little bit bloated.
I really like Signal, really solid.

No way in hell I would actually use the Verizon app, if for no other reason that Verizon is shady as hell when it comes to data/spying on customers.
I've been using Textra for years and it has always been rock solid for me.
I've tried so many, yaata, chomp, pulse (today), etc., and I always come back to Textra.
It's the fastest, has great features and always works.
Yaata is choppy and I keep trying to like it.
I just tried Pulse today and it's smooth but the settings panels get weird colors and it force closed every time I tried to schedule a text.
Textra is always the winner, but I keep trying

I second this. Signal's been great for me on my 6P, and I plan on continuing to use it when my 2XL arrives in about a week.

Textra is the best.
I've used Textra for quite a while and it has never let me down.
For those using Textra (on Verizon) , do you use legacy or system setting for MMS?
My question is can any one recommend an SMS app that will let me add another number so that I can get text messages from two phones?
Evolve sms is really good
x3 Signal! Cuz... **** the NSA!
Pulse. Used to be qksms but not been updated for a while now.

October security update brought a few new things

Today's October security update brought changes to the SMS app compose box area. Now to the left of the compose area a toggle appears which reveals the camera, gallery and Samsung apps chooser menu.
I haven't noticed any other changes so far.

I got the October patch on November 1st. I am pretty sure it was just security patches. I have noticed better battery life on my G960U1 S9 but that could just be me.
I think there is also an extra LTE bar now. Other than that I think that's it.

I've also noticed in messages that if you use words like "today" or "tomorrow" it hyperlinks it like Facebook messenger does. I'm curious if the changes to the messages app is starting toward the adoption of RCS messaging.
Another subtle change in the Device Care screen, different graphics now.

I just read in the Samsung Members app that users of the S10 are complaining about this feature being turned on by default, without an option to turn it off. In my case I haven't seen links to other apps when typing words as "today" or "Monday" for example.

OK, my bad! I just tested my Messages app and indeed I'm getting links as you mentioned.
Anyone on Tmobile? Since updating to J2 all of my phones have horrible call quality.
