Hi, a few weeks ago I tried to get a new app so went to my Google Play account and it wouldn't let me open it, kept asking me to log in. Anyway I eventually left it as it was driving me nuts but since then none of my apps will update and none of my Google accounts will backup, the most important one being my photos. I can't use Google to seach either. I can log in to my account on all other devices just not my phone. I also tried to connect my phone to my laptop to backup my photos as I'm thinking I'm going to have to do a hard reset but all my older photos were showing but not the newer ones that I have taken and you can view on my phone.
Can anyone help as this is driving me crazy.
Thanks

I've tried this and it didn't help but thanks
What are you using to view your files? A file explorer or HTC Sync Manager? I would use the former.
If that doesn't show all your stuff, then I would use TWRP to backup everything or to copy files onto an external SD card and then plug that into the computer to copy everything before running an RUU and resetting everything, which is what I would do.

He should have his contacts on his google email account. Go online and login in to google and hit contacts, all of his contacts should be there, and if you add your google account to your phone it should sync your contacts, along with his email

The only prob with this is how he added any new contacts to the phone. If they added as phone contact then they will not be in google. If they were saved as a google contact then yes, when they sign back in, through the market for instence, they will auto update. From now on, tell them to always add contact as google contact when given the choice.
Not to hijak the thread but is there an easy way to move phone contacts to google contacts? I've been trying to do that for a while but haven't found the answer.

export phone contacts to SD card. Then run import and you can chose to import from the file on the SD card into your google contacts
Thanks for the info. I did that and was relieved to find that google contacts has a merge duplicates function.
For the past 7 days I've been unable to sync my Samsung account and receive the following message in settings: 'Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.' Has anyone else experienced this and is there a way to get it syncing again?
Thanks in advance
Have tried deleting the account and redoing it again (re-typing ur credentials)with sync enabled?

This solution seems to have worked, thank you. Before I removed my account, I did a full backup via Kies. I realised removing my Samsung account deleted my S Notes, so I tried to restore them from my backup, but after a 'successful' restore, half of my notes are missing.
The notes that are missing were in a folder named 'Notes.' I tried to create a new 'Notes' folder, but apparently this folder name is already in use. Searching for the folder brings up no matches, so where is it?!
Upon further investigation, all my missing notes and memos are still in my S Note directory, but for some strange reason they're not showing up in the app. Any ideas?
Hey everybody. Recently, a family member's power button on their Epic 4G Touch stopped working. I insisted it was a hardware issue, yet when they took it in to Sprint, they said it was a software issue. I figured I might as well try a factory reset to see if it indeed WAS a software issue. I copied all the files via USB, and I did a sync with the Google account, and then reset. They didn't need everything backed up, they just needed their contacts. Stupidly, I assumed the Google Sync kept the contacts. Tried to restore the contacts via Google Sync and looks like the Contacts didn't sync. I don't think I can root the phone as the power button is not functioning. I have tried several software on my Windows Computer that are supposed to recover Android files. The pictures, videos, messages, etc. all recovered. However, I was unable to get the software to recover the contacts. I tried "Wondershare Dr. Fone for Android" to no success. Is there anything else I can try to recover the contacts? I have all the external (I think that's what it is called) backed up on my PC. I plugged the phone in prior to reset, and copied all the files from there. Is there anything I can do to recover the contacts? Thanks guys!

I save all my contacts as google contacts and when I log in to my google account, they are all downloaded. If that did not happen for you, then they are probably lost.
Yea I use Google voice and it shows like a log of all my contacts are messages, calls, etc. In the future you could download an app called super backup. It lets you back up your contacts into a file that can be moved around. Then all you have to do is reinstall the app and look for that file to get your contacts back.

I put this hTC_Asia_AUS.zip to my sd card and install it. But the google account login is still there right after the installation of that .zip. any idea? this is the pictures i took while installing that hTC_Asia_AUS.zip
I've seen you post this a few times recently.
There is no way to bypass this as its a security so if someone steals your phone and does a factory reset, they still can't use it.
Try logging in to one of your many google accounts and check the 'last account activity' to see which google account used your phone last.

All:
Just updated to a custom ROM and did a user app backup using Titanium that I synced across to Google Drive. Now that I've completed the ROM installation, I'd like to retrieve my user apps. I can see the files on Google Drive, but TiBu is not behaving properly when I select the 'Sync to Google Drive' schedule.
I notice that it is prompting me each time that I select the option to Login to Google Drive, which is not typical behavior, but I'm not getting an error/warning either. I'm going to remove and re-install TiBu to see if that helps. Has anyone seen anything like this? Running latest version of Nitrogen ROM and ElemX kernel.

I might just be too lazy to figure it out...
But, I have never been able to restore from Google Drive.
Nor has a sync function ever worked in any direction except from devce to the cloud.
Whenever I performed a restore of the type you are referring to I always DL'd my TiBU folder from drive to my phone locally.
Then restored.
I started using swift backup and it's been outstanding!! The pro version was 6 bucks and worth every cent.
It works flawlessly with Google drive too. There is a free version available too.

Thanks for your reply. I finally got it to work with another ROM, not sure if the issue was ROM related or possibly tighter security from Google. I've never had a problem with syncing back from the cloud, although I'll admit that it is a bit non-intuitive when using it.
