Bought a Olixar Genuine Leather Huawei Honor 9 Wallet Case and I am impressed with the quality. The only problem is when closing the case the screen doesn't automatically turn off. Have installed a few proximity sensor apps which turn off the screen but when opening the case you need to put in your PIN as the screen is administrator locked, finger print unlock won't work. Anyone got a workaround?

I've made a few phone calls and when i pull the phone away from my head to look up a contact or go to speaker phone, the screen stays black. It's happened every time and i have to hit the power button twice to get the screen to come back on again. Anyone else having this issue?
Do you have a Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector installed on your phone? Or any screen protector that covers the proximity sensor?

Yup, totally do! I forgot to search for "proximity sensor". Duh, sorry about that.

Just activated my Nexus 5X is this is driving me crazy. I have a screen protector, but that shouldn't be an issue.
Seen here that's this is an issue with Android 6 - wondering why they haven't fixed it with 6.0.1 etc

If the screen protector is covering the proximity sensor you will experience this issue.
I'm having this issue as well. No screen protector.
Hi
Bought the XA1 ultra couple of days ago. I've noticed that it doesn't have the double tap to open feature. However i was hoping that it would work in a flip case with magnetic closure. Bought a case with that function but the phone doesn't do the sleep too wake. Is their an option in the settings to enable this ?
Thanks
There is no option in the software. I have the official Smart Cover, and I believe there is some sort of magnetic placement in the case that triggers it. Hard to tell whether there is an NFC chip or something like that, but as far as I know, only the OEM cover has this feature.
Keep in mind that lifting up the cover to wake is no faster than pressing the power button. This I can confirm this first hand. The delay seems to be the same as the button, which to me is slow anyway with around a half second delay. You're not missing out on much, trust me.
Thanks for the info. Any idea if rooting might help me find a way to unlock from sleep.?
Thanks
The phone has a hall sensor and a tiny magnet triggers the Sleep - Wake feature. The position of the sensor is on the top left corner of the phone just below the bezel - where the carrier information appears. I had a T2 ultra before with a Nillkin flip case that had the sleep wake function. Ordered a Nillkin Qin case for the XA1 Ultra and found out that it did not have the sleep wake feature. Just popped the magnet out from a old and torn case that I had earlier and positioned on the inner flap of the flip cover so that it touches the sensor position when closed. Pasted the magnet with a bit of glue and covered it with a patch of suede so that it does not scratch the glass. Voila - I have a working sleep and wake flip cover for the XA1 Ultra. Any small and thin magnet will do , preferably from a old donor case , else look for a thin button magnet from small Fridge-Magnet stick-on pieces.
Thanks for the Info
Will look for a magnet. Have a couple of fridge ones will try them first ?
Hello, has anyone already tried s-view case - the flip case with window? I had one for Honor 5X and the phone was able to determine if the case is open or closed using magnet in middle below the screen. BUT i tried to find the position of magnetic sensor on Honor 9 and was unsuccessful. Can anyone share the location of sensor or another style of detection? Thanx.
Tried two different tempered glass screen protector s with my S20 5G - one claiming to allow the fingerprint reader to work.
Neither work as it seems that the distance from the finger to the reader is too far (when trying to set up a fingerprint it only shows a small section, around 30%, of the print in the centre, and not enough to store/recognise it.
Has anyone found one that actually work.
PS: I have a tendency to drop my phone, so am only after a tempered glass one - I would hazard a guess that the problem does not exists with a silicon protector.
Does anyone know of any S22 screen protectors that actually has a cutout for the fingerprint reader? I can't find any (I only see S22 Ultra protectors with the cutout).
Call me crazy, but I'm upgrading to the S22 from a S10e which had the side power button fingerprint reader. With the S10e, in the time it took to reach into my pocket, grab my phone, and look at it, I could locate the power button by feel and input my fingerprint.
I'm thinking if I find an S22 screen protector with the cutout I could do something similar - reach into my pocket, feel the cutout for my finger and unlock the phone by the time I actually look at the screen.
Anyone? I'm beginning to think that only the S22 Ultra has a screen protector with the fingerprint cutout?

I'm also looking to upgrade from S10e to S22, and would probably be interested in this as well.
I ended up trying something on my old screen protectors laying around:
I took a grommet making kit I had laying around and tried punching a hole through a glass screen protector with a hammer and the hole cutter, but it didn't work (the screen protector came out virtually unscathed). Then I tried it on an old film style screen protector and it worked perfectly. Only problem was the color temperature difference for whites between the hole punch section and the screen protector. I'm hoping its just because that screen protector film had yellowed after 3 years.
So I ended up ordering https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09RZVPTKZ and I am going to try this on the weekend. I confirmed in the S22 settings that you can set the fingerprint unlock to both wake and unlock the phone in one shot so I think this will work out great.
