[Q] [URGENT] Corrupt Nandroid Backup with Bitcoin Wallet - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Backed up old N5X, wiped it, sold it to friend, stuck a new board in mine with 4GB RAM and reballed CPU, set it up, created a nandroid backup to get the device ID etc. Here are the ID's:
OLD PHONE:
02580e6e8582d4b8
2018-02-06--17-07-34_NZH54D
NEW PHONE:
00cad250a0599972
2018-02-06--17-41-28_NZH54D
I first tried making a backup of the old phones nandroid backup on my PC for safe keeping, but it kept failing on copying "system_image.emmc.win" which is a 3.145GB file, it seems to be corrupt.
After copying as much of the old nandroid backup as I could from the USB stick (FRACK SANDISK CRUZER FITS THEY ARE BAD DO NOT BUY THEM) to my PC I tried renaming the backup to the new phone ID anyway and tried to restore the nandroid backup - it fails on that data file at the very end with some error about corruption.
Essentially I need to recover the data from the Coinomi app because I have lost my passphrase for the app / my account so I can't get access to my bitcoin wallet and get my keys.
What can I do here? Does that file actually contain the app data that I need to restore, or is it in another file?
Here's a pic of the backup files I have:
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Do any of these contain the app backup data that I can somehow extract, or even paste into a working nandroid backup and restore that, or just restore a part of it? Or am I completely boned here? Is there any way to try and extract data from the corrupt system_image.emmc.win file? Does it even contain the data I need?
Kind of freaking out right now as I had a ton of money in bitcoins on my Coinomi app and, well, yeah.
ANY help here would be greatly appreciated. If you can help me get this working I'll paypal you 20 bucks or something for your trouble.

Titanium Backup has the ability to restore app data from a nandroid, the nandroid only needs to be stored on the same device you have titanium installed (check screenshot) - if you have issues to copy the huge nandroid archive it as zip before copying, just unzip it when successfully copied to the device...

Haha, that was more for if someone needed to help extract the files and all sorts which would take hours of time etc, not just point me to an option in titanium

He didn't ask for it or send me a paypal address, if he did I would have, I'm not gonna be guilted into giving someone money for a 2 minute forum post if they aren't that bothered, seems other people care more than the guy that actually helped me. Eesh.

Thanks for your reply, not sure what's the issue there (fixed it, stupid typo), my www.PayPal.me/samuelhausmann should work unless there are any restrictions by the county you're in, I don't think there're restrictions for Germany but it's not that important anyway, important is that you came to an important insight and finally decided to stand by your words, that's actually what means the most to me and is good to see - respect for that, I never did anything on XDA for money and money wasn't the motivation to help in your case, in fact I was made aware of your offer later by the other user's response, I don't insist on anything - it's truly up to you!
So no worries :good:

IGO MyWay Android - external SD card

Galaxy S - how to put dem files, buildings, maps, pois etc to external SD card. Well, that can save some time MB from internal SD memory. You need: ROOT, SU, and file commander which can enter some folders as root.
First, there is a need to look on located in internal SD file - sys.txt:
in section: [folders] there is line:
content="%SDCARD%/iGO/content"
after changing it to:
content="%SDCARD%/external_sd/iGO/content"
and after moving the folders: dem, map, poi, buildings to the external_sd/IGo/content IGo will... not work.
There is second sys.txt file, located in \data\data\com.navngo.igo\javaclient and this one must be same as first one.
After that - voila, several MB is free on the internal SD

I thought you should put them in fileserve or filesonic?
Why? Pls tell me where I have mentioned something illegal? There is a lot of legal users and I think that if you have this app illegally, you shouldnt assume that everyone got it from same source as you.

Ahhh, you are about completely different thing, so sorry. Then:
One simple thing: pls explain me how the term: GREEDY is related with the trick mentioned here?
Sorry, but contrary to YOUR friends, I didn't posted the sys.tst (assuming your position, it should be with some mp3, to increase its weight) as two separate files: original and corrected to the server which requires premium account or which makes profits to uploader. Maybe this is because I have normal work, and such things are my hobby, again, contrary to YUOR friends, not primary source of income.
I think this is clear for you now?

I'm just doing what you have done to the other thread, nothing more. Before pointing a finger at someone, 3 of them is pointing back at you.
Why don't you answer in that thread, since you still think that Ramad is making money off the users by uploading to multiupload sites. Is there any proof based on your claim? I guess YOUR friend had already made enough to buy 2 new phones just by the downloads he put up. Why 2? You go figure...

@ spamtrash,
Going back to the topic:
I cannot find the file sys.txt . Not in the root of the internal SD , also not in the iGo folder.
I was thinking about applying the changes on sys.txt file located at data\data\com.navngo.igo\javaclient and then copy/paste it on to the root of internal SD (or shall I place it in the iGo folder?) but shall I remove the existing lines at sys.txt in section [folders]:
Code:
[folders]
secondary_root_path="iGO"
has_secondary_root=1
those are the only lines there by the way...
Or just add the new lines?
Tks

One question: show me please ONE server between the multiupload links, which is NOT donating the uploader. Single one, please?
Otherwise, I'd have to add: hypocritical liar to the greedy.
Of course, if you will point to the free server, I'll withdraw this.

Do not remove anything from there... which version of the IGo do you have?
the section [folders] shall contain:
[folders]
;Please, don't modify "secondary_root_path" value!!!
;If you need to change it, please, there must exist folder /sdcard/iGO
;with resources moved from full apk (fonts, audio folder and sys.txt)
secondary_root_path="iGO"
has_secondary_root=1
user_backup_path="%SDCARD%/iGO"
data="%SDCARD%/iGO"
content="%SDCARD%/external_sd/iGO/content"
after the modification.
And check your pm...

You are accusing someone, and yet you are asking the accused to show proof? Are you from stone age? Withdraw? No apologies? Wow, a real eye opener for me, I must say. The proff: so called "free" multiupload link of Ramad: http://www.multiupload.com/LZQB839QHP does not contain any single free link. It contains instead:
Rapidshare;
Megaupload;
Depositfiles;
Hotfile;
zshare;
uploading
links, and NONE of them is free. You have to buy a premium account, otherwise - you are donating the uploader. Period.
If you want more proofs - check the Ramad's tread.
And please stop cheating directly to the eyes, ok? As I said - pure hypocrisy

Have you tried using multiupload before? Guess you haven't, but yet so condescending...
If what you said is true, then they would have advertised like filesonic or fileserve which Ramad had showed the proof. Just show me the adverts from those sites saying that you can make money and in your words, I will withdraw from this. Tell you what, i'll even throw in an apology.
Hypocrisy...
Sent from my GT-I9000
Just follow the link, smart guy who do not know anything, this is the link from Ramad's tread. And, download the file from Megaupload, first time in your life, kiddo.
So, please carefuly read Multiupload's terms of services, especially the point 1.1: "...The Services operate by sending and storing the specified User File on external Web sites, file storage services not maintained by Multiupload.com (collectively "Third Party Services"), on behalf of the User. The links to control the User File on the Third Party Services will be stored on Multiupload.com and then Multiupload.com will display and/or email two generated unique links to the User. The User(s) can then access the download links to download the User File from the Third Party Services by clicking on one of the unique generated links"
In simple words, as it seems that you are very resistive to facts and knowledge: no single file is maintained on Multiupload's servers, they are providing one unique link to the files stored by third parties. In this specific Ramd's case, as stated previously, none of these third party is free, and all are providing offer to buy premium accounts or downoad while donating the uploader.
This time: have you understood? If not, please ask someone adult, they shaould be happy to explain some base facts to you.

Where I have used: adverts? I stated: users are donated by the servers providers, like the Hotfile, for the downloads.

[Q] Logmein Ignition Broken on 4.2?

Well, this was certainly frustrating. I needed to use Logmein this morning from my phone, and it appears that the app is broken on 4.2

I unisntalled and reinstalled the app but it did the same thing.
Any one else have the same issue after going to 4.2?
Its going to take a little bit of time for everybody to update their apps to make them compatible, but it will happen. If you HAVE to have that app I would go back to 4.1 and download AppWatcher until all the apps you need are updated.
The last update to their software was Jan of 2012. I would suggest emailing android-feedback [AT] logmein.com and give as much information as you can, that way they can be aware of the issue and possibly hurry out an update.
i always enjoy the threads about "such and such app is broke with version <insert newest android version here> can you help me fix it even tho its the apps fault?"

Yeah, I shot them an email this morning but haven't heard back yet. Since the app hasn't updated in 10 months, I'm a little nervous about Logmein's agility and quickness to resolving this issue.

That's actually not what I said at all. I was asking for other people to confirm the breakage to make sure it's not a problem with my machine. But thanks for being an ass. Move a long little one, this thread is not for you.
Found this on Google. Same thing is happening on my Nexus 7 since updating...so definitely a software/4.2 issue.
Same thing here, just found this thread on Google. My issue though is LogMeIn is essential as I use it daily for work. I have a full Nandroid from right before the upgrade, can I just restore that or will I have to wipe and start with a fresh install of 4.1.2?

Yup, I have noticed RealVNC Viewer is crashing too. Oddly enough, Remote Desktop from Xtralogic still works perfectly.
I did just see that RealVNC Viewer released an update today to fix the Android 4.2 crash. Excellent. Now if Logemein could get it together...

Yes, you can restore your full nandroid 4.1.2 and be good to go again.
Fortunately I don't RELY on it. It is a convenience thing... but it'd sure be nice if Logmein was a little more responsive considering it IS a $30 app!
I restored back to 4.1.2 last night, it's a shame. Overall I liked the new features of 4.2 (seemed they fixed the low volume issue which is nice, I need to use Volume+ just to hear movies on a plane with bose earbuds). Looks like I'll be running with 4.1.2 until LogMeIn catches up. I have already been through trying all other alternatives and unfortunately some of the options that are necessary are only available on logmein (true blank host screen and pop up keyboard with a sticky shift key option and function keys (F1, F2, etc) are a must for the program I access). Here is the email from LogMeIn, they probably wouldn't care if I jumped ship since it's not a subscription and they already have my $30. Most expensive mobile app I've every bought.

Thank you for contacting LogMeIn.
I apologize for the inconvenience, but I consulted with our product specialist and it looks like we don't support the Android version 4.2 (Jelly Bean) at the moment, but hopefully in the near future we'll be releasing an update that will allow it to work.

this to me sounds like no immediate plan. Which i can see the lack of a need because how many 4.2 running phones are there at the moment? Sucks though :/
Thanks for following up
Yep, it's sad the bigger the software producer gets, the higher the price goes, and the slower the support gets. It always amazes me at the top notch level of support you get from the independent dev's even for a $1 app. Most of the time they are FAST, Jrummy and Chainfire are two of the best examples. Yet you can't get squat from a large company for a $30 app that you had to pay for (when the same iPhone functionality is free, which is a whole other rant...) and that is on top of me already paying hundreds a year for premium subscriptions, but to them that is probably chump change. Sucks for me I guess, No 4.2 on my Nexus since I have literally tried them all and can't find any other with those two features that are a must have. A few others had the blank host screen, just not as quick or friendly as logmein, but none have the sticky shift key or pop up F keys, if you know an alterative to logmein that has those I would easily pay for the app in a heartbeat.
*end ramble*
Maybe I should just buy a second nexus for personal use or get the N10 for work and keep the 7 for personal, oh wait, that probably comes with 4.2 preloaded, ****ty! for me.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but I consulted with our product specialist and it looks like we don't support the Android version 4.2 (Jelly Bean) at the moment, but hopefully in the near future we'll be releasing an update that will allow it to work.

Ok... what the hell? A $30 app and they tell you to basically get bent?
That is super shady.
I've been using logmein for a couple years now, but it looks like I'll look in to some of their competition. That's just plain BAD customer service.
At least they replied to you. They never bothered replying to me.
They didn't even respond to you? I guess I can be thankful for a response then, it's the least they could do considering I have 6 Pro subscriptions on my account. I'm thinking of looking into gotomypc. Someone else at the office uses them and the ios app has the functions I need. Here is an email I jut got. You can bet I filled out the survey, if you get around to trying gotomypc on 4.2 please let me know.

Yes same here, screen does not display on my N4 or N7........... very frustrating as use logmein most days for work. I have emailed logmein support. Fingers crossed..
My reply was;
-----------
Thank you for contacting LogMeIn.
We currently do not support Android 4.2 (JellyBean) with LogMeIn Ignition for Android.
We are working hard to become compatible with the latest Android OS.
-----------
A bit better, but no ETA and not even an apology!
At least you had a reply, I've heard nothing from them! Fingers crossed it's sooner rather than later as is proving to be a right pain for me....

Well, this was certainly frustrating. I needed to use Logmein this morning from my phone, and it appears that the app is broken on 4.2
I unisntalled and reinstalled the app but it did the same thing.
Any one else have the same issue after going to 4.2?

I thought it was 'cause I was connecting to a Windows 8 machine for the first time! I ended up switching to Jump Desktop which is free for single computer use and had gesture support for Win8.
Well, Logmein at least updated the description for the current app on the play store with a message saying they're working on a fix for 4.2.
Not really happy that they can't get this update out with a quickness, especially when smaller companies like VNC can get it fixed the next day.
Latest update is confirmed working on a rooted stock 4.2

New to the Droid World

Hello world,
I just purchased an Samsung S3 but I haven't done anything to it yet because I am deciding if I want to keep it or sell it. I have always used iPhones and know how to jailbreak, tweak and customize it the way I want it but due to the ongoing battle with Apple and jailbreakers and having to wait for a jailbreak I think it's time to switch. An iPhone is nothing without a jailbreak and I am tired of the cat and mouse game.
So now I am here. I know I need to root the phone and can find useful info on this site but what I want to know are the tweaks for the droid phones just as good as the iPhone or better? Please don't be bias especially if you never owned an iPhone.
Can I customize the phone so if a friend ask to use the phone and wants to know the password I can give a dummy password? Can I create a secret account that won't show any of my apps, emails, photos, text call logs? Something similar to an iPhone app called igotchya?
Privacy is my number one concern but I would also like to add tweaks similar to what you would find in Cydia on an iPhone.
Before you rip me a new one for bringing up iPhones or Apple just note I am here to learn and not compare. Everything is foreign to to me which can lead to frustration but if I can have full access to my phone then it's worth it.
Before Apple I use to use HTC window phones like the 8525 and Fuze and came here to flash my roms.
The best way to know would be to root it and explore the different custom ROMs out there. Aosp or touchjizz . you can always revert back to fully stock if you decide to sell it.
Customizing a rooted android device is in no way comparable to a jailbreaked iPhone. Way more customisations posibilities and control over your phone hardware(CPU/internal memory)

I guess I am more concern about privacy. Prying eyes going through my stuff and accidentally deleting something. When my iPhone was jail broken I used a tweak called Protecti were I can lock certain apps from being launched and have a second passcode so I don't need to give up my real passcode.
The one thing I do like about the droid is how you have more options. You payed for the phone and allowed to do whatever you want with it. Unfortunately with the iPhone, Apple wants to control everything. I am really disliking Apple and waiting for the day when when the next big thing happens and Apple struggles to stay alive.
In my opinion if Samsung would make their phones feel solid instead of plastic they can really do some damage to other cell phone company's.

For the security, I'm sure you can find an app or something that will do the same thing you were used to on your iPhone. You will just need to find the app that does it check for lookout in the play store I think it will do want you're talking about. If not search security in the play store and I'm sure one of the all will suit you. Root my be needed tho. So don't be afraid to root your device and try. As I said you can easily revert back and be able to sell it after.
oops. eyes tripped on themselves

Thanks for the info.
So the play store has tweaks such as these? I don't need to go through a different source (similar to cydia for iPhone)?
Is there anything comparable to Installous (iphone cracked apps / try before you buy)?

You can search for the .apk on Google or XDA and install it manually on your phone. You put the file.apk on your sdcard you select it from a file manager like es file explorer and it will install the app on your phone and you don't need root to install app manually.
And yes the play store has tweaks such as these and many more. And if you look on the main page of XDA-developer(not the forum) you can find apps that are not in the play store yet. So instead of using cydia, you just need Google, XDA and the play store
Android is the land of endless possibilities

Thanks for useful info,
That's cool you can just put the file on your sdcard and don't have to use a third party installer.
I guess my next stop is to buy an SIM card adapter since the iPhone 5 uses a smaller SIM card. Once installed I don't need to do anything like call AT&T, it should just work right?
Hopefully the keyboard and the auto spell corrector on the S3 is much better than the i5. I wonder if I should sell the S3 and get the S4 or do you think the S3 is better for now since the S4 just came out and is still a little buggy?
Much thanks in advance.

Looking For Software

Can someone tell me if there is a software program that can be used on Samsung phones that all you have to do is plug the phone in, connect the phone and click a button to save ALL data of the phone.
Not user lever stuff but service level data.
Like creating a complete profile of the phone.
Thank you,
John
Are you wanting a system image equivalent or just backing up user data and apps?
I think he means everything underneath tge hood. Like meid bootloader haa keys. Pretty much everything. Op I am unsure because I have never needed it. But please give details to what exactly you are looking for.

I am looking for an app that will do 2 things for me.
I am talking about carrier specific data only, I think.
Like, MEID, MIN, MDN, AAA and HA keys, SPC, server addresses and the like.
I have all the standard software, like DSF CDMAWS QPST, and the like.and I
know I can go in manually and get the data.
But I want a program that I can just plug the phone in and click something
like... "Copy Profile" and it will copy ALL the data that would be needed to
flash a phone back to the same carrier.
I am not talking about cloning. I would change all the main data, MIN, MDN,
AAA, HA, and the like.
I have tried to use programs like QPST to just simply make a backup of a phone
but I can never get it to restore. If I could that would be all I needed.
I could judt make a backup of say MY phone and when ready to flash someone
elses phone, just load it up, make the nesscessory changes and click write.
Wa-La, done.
And to have backups of my own data off my phones of course.
Sorry again about the confusion.
Thanks,
John
If you ever find the program please post the name. I have no need to flash my phone but would love to have a complete profile of my phone for safe keeping. Goodluck.

Well... after thinking about my initial post, I realized I could have composed it better.
If someone knows of a CDMA service tool like, DFS, CDMAWS, QXDM, QPST or the like that would make a dependable backup (one where the restore actually works), that would be perfect, please let me know.
As long as it backed up EVERYTHING including the AAA and HA keys.
That would be awesome. That way, not only could I get a safety backup of my own phones but I could just load a profile on someone's phone, change appropriate data and wa-la, done.
Thanks,
John

What we probably need to do is just tweak CWM to include the additional partitions.
That would get all that you're looking for. You can also dd them via ADB and get what you need.
Thanks a ton for the kind reply and offer. That would be a good idea for CWM.
However, for me, I think I would rather have an installable Windows program.
And as far as the ADB method, would someone be kind enough to explain to
me exactly how that would be done?
Thanks alot guys/gals

Yes, destroying it is the only option now.
Please make a video of the destruction so we can ensure you do it right. It's important that you are thorough, otherwise the phone could come back to haunt you.

Are you talking about a forced login to existing credentials, or asked to login to any Google account? Because all Android phones ask you to login to a Google account to use the phone, but you can skip it if desired.
Activation lock is new in 5.1 I believe.

say this phone was stolen and the thief tried to do the same.

Its a new feature in android 5.1 if you have a google account setup (which you most likely do if you are using playstore) and you have setup a screen lock Then after flashing anything it will ask you to "login" that google account you were using earlier. In my case i didn't remember the account i was using as i always make a new random account to download apps, i never had this issue before so i dont enter any recovery phone numbers to my google account, another thing when making google account it asks you to enter phone number and stuff if you have done that then you maybe able to unlock the phone by clicking "cant find username" button it will take you to another page where it will ask you to enter your recovery number...and then all the accounts linked to that number will get displayed you can try one by one....each of them unfortunately i had not done this i coudn't get the email account that was linked to this phone.

Serious question - why on earth do you sign up for a new Google account every time you set your phone up? That seems absolutely ridiculous to me (and to your contacts, who will in all likelihood see multiple copies of your details in their contact lists for every Google account you've signed up for!
Extremely suspicious.....

You posted both the serial number and the imei number of the phone. See attached screen shot. So I assume the phone actually isn't stolen, otherwise it would be quite stupid to post these pictures.
I personally don't get what people are really trying to be so secure against... Unless you're an international criminal or terrorist running from powerful governments , seriously what does anyone truly have to worry about? What are the chances some hacker is gonna invest his time and effort into any close to normal one of us and chances are there's people out there with way more money that's accessible online that you or me lol most people are way too paranoid about their location of all things ..like so what ? How is anyone gonna profit or benefit from knowing where we are ...I have nothing to hide anyone wants to waste their time knowing where I am they can come on down to southeast Georgia USA in the heart of har. Mkd core imbread cousin f..kin redneck country where I was unfortunately born and raised and see what all the security measures are really for and its just as lame as it sounds lmao and I personally would never put anything I didn't want anyone to see , hell the world to see , anywhere near an internet connection.. I can't believe people put their entire lives earnings in online banks, I won't a regular bank...my point is it doesn't make sense to waste security measures on nothing important ...this is just my opinion ya know ...just off like 2+2 don't equal 5 lol
