Connectivity issues - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Hello,
Last week, I updated my device to OOS 5.0.3 (well, first 5.0.2 and then 5.0.3) and since then, at times, there's an exclamation mark next to the 4G and signal icon. While I can still use Whatsapp or Messenger, any browser or the Facebook app are acting as if I didn't have any connection.
It's actually happened twice (today being the second time) and the first time, at the end of the day, switching the network back to preferred 2G/3G and then 4G again did the trick. Today, it didn't help.
Has anyone heard of similar issues since the Oreo update? Or do you think it could be related to my carrier?
Thanks.
NB: my device isn't rooted.

I had the same problem. Did a factory reset and it worked a little better. But then it came back..only airplane mode on-off made the trick..
I think it's something stupid and needs to be fixed ASAP.

For what it's worth, this time, I deleted my carrier's mobile date settings and added them again and the exclamation mark disappeared. Let's see if the issue pops up again in the next days.
If so, I'll update the thread.

Try dialing *#*#344636#*#* absolutely worked for me !

WiFi on the G3 headaches [SOLVED]

I just got an LG G3 last friday (Black Friday) on T-Mobile (got tired of Sprint). Anyway for the most part this phone has been great. A minor glitch with a game (possibly from porting it's data over from my S3). The main problem I have is with the WiFi.
First off WiFi calling sucks. If I don't have 3 or more bars on my WiFi connection the call gets fuzzy. During one call that was clear it just randomly dropped. So that isn't cool.
Secondly, if I connect to a WiFi network at home or work or where-ever and then go somewhere else and come back or go to another place with a network I want to connect to it won't connect at all. It will show all the networks and give me the option to connect. But instead of connecting it will try to connect for a long while and then just give up. I cannot get connected again until I reboot.
I have tried the suggestions found on this thread (and other places): http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/lg-g3-wifi-issues-t2829811
No luck with those suggestions. Which include the following:
Turn off and back on the wifi radio.
Disabling the "wifi signal is weak" option.
Disabling the battery saving for wifi.
Forgetting the network (my network list was automatically imported from my Google account).
Installing the "WiFi Manager" app and enabling the 5GHz channels (US) and changing 2.4GHz channels to "Complete".
Made sure that "Internet unavailable" option is disabled.
Made sure that "Keep Wi-Fi on when screen is off" is set to "Yes".
Disabling NFC.
Disabling BlueTooth.
Disabling Wi-Fi calling.
I don't have problems with a weak signal. So I am perplexed. My Samsung Galaxy S3 worked just fine on these networks. Restarting always seems to allow me to connect again. But I shouldn't have to restart every time I want to connect to WiFi.
All of my other wireless devices connect just fine in the household (a PS3, my fiance's Moto X, my old S3, MacBook Pro, Lenovo Windows 8 laptop, an HP running Ubuntu 14.10, and another Lenovo running Ubuntu 13.04).
Why is an older model phone doing so much better than the G3? Both phones are rooted (old and new). Does anyone have a fix? My phone is currently running LG's factory rom "D85110m". That is with Android 4.4.2 (my old S3 is on a cyanogen rom of the 4.4.x series as well).
Please help me fix this. Otherwise I might return it for an S5.
Thanks!
**** Update ****
Per my below post, it seems I have fixed my problem. I ended up doing two factory resets, unrooted, and did a final factory reset to fix the problem. Then I switched to the PurpleDrake method to root it the second time (and it worked really well without any issues).
Good luck everyone!
**** End of Update ****
Try to factory reset the phone. I don't know what version you are on but I assume its 10m

It is on 10m. Do I need to unroot before I do the factory reset? I have never had to do one before.
So it appears that doing a factory reset does not fix it. I guess I am taking it back and having them replace it. And I will demand it be a brand new one since I just got this phone a little over a week ago.
SOLVED!!!!
Ok, so I finally got it fixed. Albeit accidentally as I didn't expect it to be fixed at this point.
Here is what I ended up doing:
Two factory resets.
Unrooted the phone (via these instructions: http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-unroot-lg-g3-all-variants.html).
One last factory reset at T-Mobile store by me (because they forced me to).
The wifi did not start working correctly again until after that very last factory reset that I did. The unroot process also does a factory reset. But, and this may be key, it downgraded my phone to 10c from 10m in the process. I then did an OTA to 10m after the final reset.
I unrooted it because T-Mobile's diag software detected it was rooted and said that made the warranty invalid. And after I unrooted it I took the phone back to the store and demonstrated the problem to the employee that sold me the phone in the first place. He tested it for about 10 minutes and came to the same conclusion as myself. He then had to go to his manager to approve the replacement.
They got out the new phone to replace it with then the manage told me that he was required to have us to one more factory reset. So I went into the settings on the phone and did one last reset. And for some reason, since this point, the wifi problem has gone away.
I think it is possible that something I did to the phone caused the problem in the first place. But since I did so much to it in the first few days (rooted and installed a ton of apps) I am not entirely sure. My two current theories are it was either caused by this malware infected flashlight app I installed that kept popping up the Play Store to install a particular app. Or it was caused by the rooting method I used.
The original rooting method I used was "Stump Root". So the second time around I used the PurpleDrake method. This is a tiny bit more tedious, but very effective and it didn't seem to break anything. Further, when I installed TWRP I made sure that I grabbed the recommended image for it that is specifically for the US T-Mobile LG G3 device and installed that using Flashify.
After I got it safely rooted I tested the crud out of it and it seems to be working fine.
One last thought. It is possible that somehow Titanium backup caused the problem when I restored text and call logs. But I seriously doubt it.
Anyway, if anyone has any questions for me about this please shoot me a message. I am more than happy to help.
Thanks,
Patrick

Strange Bluetooth/WiFi interaction after MM update

Hi everyone, I'd really appreciate any help anyone could give me in solving this problem...
I upgraded to MM a few weeks ago and at first had some odd WiFi issues where the phone would not connect, or stay connected very long. After about half a day of tearing my hair out, clearing my cache, and reinstalling apps it all seemed to "come good", and had been ok for a few weeks.
A few days ago, however, everything went bad again. Here is what is happening:
On my 2.4Ghz wifi network, when the phone is woken up using the power button or double tap, WiFi does not work. The phone reports that it is connected to WiFi, and (according to the Ping Tools app) has an IP address, but there is no connectivity to the outside world (or even to my router or NAS box). After about a minute or so, the connection magically "comes good" again, and the WiFi works normally. This is very frustrating as while the phone is asleep it has no IP connectivity so I don't get any notifications for email/messages etc. I have the default "yes" setting for the "Keep Wi-Fi on when screen is off" option BTW.
I have discovered that if I switch to the 5Ghz WiFi network on my router then I do not get this behaviour - the WiFi stays connected while the phone is asleep and there's not the same period of no connectivity when it wakes up. Unfortunately the 5Ghz network doesn't reach to the front of my house so this isn't a viable solution.
I have also found that the odd behaviour does not occur if I disable Bluetooth on the phone. Since I use Bluetooth audio in my car, it's a bit of a pain to disable/re-enable it but it's the workaround that I'm currently using.
The strange behaviour does not occur if I reboot the phone into Safe Mode... the WiFi stays connected while the phone is asleep, and 2.4Ghz WiFi works straight away when the phone is woken up. This seems to indicate that an app might be the culprit.
To try and diagnose this I have
- cleared the cache and rebooted a number of times, to no avail
- done a factory reset and reinstalled my apps from Google Play, but end up in the same (broken) state
- changed the default channel for 2.4Ghz WiFi on my router several times
So I'm at my wits end now. I guess I could do another factory reset and reinstall my apps manually, one by one, and see which one (if any) breaks things. But I'd like to to try and avoid this. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to determine what could be causing the problem?
Phone is an H815 running Android 6.0, V20a-EUR-XX. Totally stock, locked bootloader.
Sorry for the lengthy post.
I have approximately the same thing. Switching Bluetooth doesn't help in my case. I had to wipe cache from within the phone to make it get better again.
One other thing was to throw away my aluminium bumper. Do you maybe have one ?

Oh, I got excited at your case suggestion as I got a new case a couple of weeks ago which does have an aluminium bumper. But I just took the case off and alas the problem remains.
Unfortunately clearing the cache doesn't work for me. I also found a setting under Backup and Reset to reset network options but this didn't help either.
Next step might be to reinstall the OS or try the repair option in LG Bridge. Unless anyone else has a better idea?

Tihs issu not MM specific exist on LP
Try another chanel (In router)and use only N 2.4 Ghz
But is see you try..
Go and use warranty.!!!
I think I've fixed it. I just started uninstalling apps and checking to see if the behaviour persisted after uninstalling each one. After uninstalling TuneIn Radio the WiFi started working with Bluetooth enabled again. I reinstalled all the apps that I uninstalled (including TuneIn) and everything seems to be working again. I doubt it had anything to do with TuneIn - just a weird interaction of who knows what. It's not terribly satisfying and I suspect it will happen again, but hopefully this thread will help someone who might have the same problem.

wifi keeps disconnecting on nougat

Anyone facing this issue
Does anyone know any fix
Yes mines the same, wifi works fine for a short amount of time then disconnects, after it cuts out goto wifi settings and all I see is scanning and no wifi devices. only way I can get wifi working again is a reboot but then I get disconnecting again after short period of time!
EDIT: I would just like to add until I updated to nougat yesterday I've never experienced this issue and I did a master reset straight after installing nougat.
I am having this same problem. Any fix for this?
Same thing here. It happened to me after the first night. I thought maybe something was corrupted after the upgrade, so I did a full factory reset yesterday morning. Everything worked fine until I got up this morning. Looks like something over the course of the night causes this to start.
Things I've tried without success:
- factory reset
- rebooting
- removing and re-adding wifi network
- tested all other devices in the house (no other device is having an issue)
- tried both 2.4 and 5ghz networks (issue is affecting both)
UPDATE: After a few hours, I turned wifi back on yesterday, and it's been working fine since. I made no changes to the phone.
Faced same problem with developer preview
Before the official release of Android 7.0 I installed two Android beta preview, 3 and 5, and had the same issue I uninstalled the previews and had no problems with version 6.1. I hoped that this would be fixed with the official version but It wasn't, Im still facing the same problems with wifi disconnecting.
Edit: When I had the previews the only way that the phone would seem to remain connected was to go into the router options and change the client lease time. I never fully tested this because I uninstalled the previews within a couple of days. I guess I'm going to have to test it this time.

Maybe this thread could help you guys, didn't try, and as it is for nexus 5, do every operation carefully.
Flashed back to 6 as the WiFi issue was unbearable, working perfectly fine again now. I was also getting major battery drain on 7.0.
Hi
I found a strange solution working for me. I had bluetooth disabled, since I have enabled bluetooth today, 5 GHz connection is stable - Pls test it and update. And pls don't ask me, why these two protocols are in any way related...

Didn't work for me.
This problem had disappeared for weeks and then started rearing its head again yesterday although I had made no changes to my phone. For the record, it's happening on both frequencies for me.
Last time, the issue magically disappeared. After it didn't go away over night, I restarted my router this morning, and now it's working fine.
To clarify, I don't think it's router related, though. I have an R7000 that's working perfectly with all other phones and other devices in the house. It's the same router the 5x was connected to before Nougat started causing these issues.
Apparantly 7.1 solves the issue

Anyone experiencing constant Mobile Data Disconnect?

Hey guys, been a while. Anyway I had my HTC 10 replaced under warranty a month or so back. The replacement I go, I keep getting disconnected after a day or so. So what happens is I can use the phone and all, but Mobile Data appears to break, as if I disconnect WIFI Mobile Data shows Disconnected. ONly way to get it back online to to reboot the phone.
This has been happening more frequently, every day I am ending up having to reboot since I cannot send any text messages.
Any suggestions? Is this a common issue with HTC 10? I'm on Tmobile USA Network. I never had any issues before with other phone (M8, M7, iPhone), and signal is great.
Just started happening to me....Was fine until this week.. Tmobile user also...S-on Viper10 rom.
Yes. Was it after the recent update?
Btw, either turning mobile data off/on or airplane mode fixes it.
So it's from the recent update? It's happening more and more frequent to the point I keep restarting my phone multiple times in a day. Also, the Airplane mode on/off doesn't bring back the data back online, even turning mobile data on/off or even switching the network mode doe not help.
Btw, my HTC10 fully stock, non rooted.
OK a new update just came in for my phone. Ran it, and monitoring how it goes. i will update thread if that update fixes the issue.
It hasn't happened to me since 1.8 update. Using leedroid.

Looks like the update that was pushed yesterday by TMO US fixed the issue, as I have not encountered the issue yet after the update.
Scrap that. Issue reoccured, although not as frequently....
To fix this I had to go into developer options and checked keep data on.

Question Z Fold 4: Losing Network Connection When On Home Wifi (ATT)

Hello all!
Got a weird problem, that at first wasn't much of an issue. But now keeps getting worse and worse.
I'm on ATT btw
I've noticed that when I'm on my home wifi, I will randomly have the following issues:
I can't send or receive phone calls
I can't send or receive text messages
Anything network related just doesn't work
It's very random, but happens frequently, and if I turn on airplane mode then turn it back off, the issue is resolved.
I've tried:
resetting network settings on phone
resetting my home network
soft restart and hard restarting phone
I've tried connecting a router to the stock ATT router and using that as my connection
Everything I can think of, short of reformatting the phone completely which I will probably try later this week
I'm on the latest firmware
When the issue happens, I can turn off wifi and it will show 2-3 bars of network but no lte/5g/5g+ or anything. And sometimes it shows the circle with a line through it.
Thanks!

Nope, using a normal sim card from ATT.
Lucky a simple restart fixed it, I'm at wits end how to fix this issue....making work very difficult lol
Going to run phone without wifi today and see if the issue comes up off wifi.
Okay, so tested today without using wifi. And while not as frequent, it still did lose connection just now. And I had to toggle wifi off/on for it to regain connection....
Guess my last step is to reformat the phone
Just got the fold4 on T-Mobile and had the same issue over the weekend.
Randomly stops getting service, have bars but no data, sim says unknown. Disable then reenable sim and it works until next time.
Cleared cache, cleared network settings, remove and reinserted sim.
Today is my first day without losing network.

Interesting, going to try some stuff tomorrow to see what I can figure out.
I was away from my house and had no issues, so starting to think maybe it's my location....but not sure.
Interesting, I've been getting this occasionally on my fold 4 with tmobile. I'll have apps that wont update data with a 'you're not connected to the internet' error. I recently added duck duck go browser and enabled the app tracking blocker. I've been wondering if the duck go vpn is the cause. Do you use any sort of vpn?

Yeah I use ProtonVPN, used to use alwayson but ended up turning it off as it was interfering with my Tesla Key function. But whether it's on or off, I still get the issue.
I haven't reformatted my phone just yet, but the issue has reduced a bit the last few days. I'm not sold on it being my phone as this literally only happens while at home.....really bizarre honestly.
Also got an issue now with android 13 that it won't work with my Tesla half the time. It just doesn't recognize my phone as my key .-. really tilting xD

Thanks for the info. It's so intermittent it's very hard to pin down. I still haven't gotten the update to 13 so hopefully that helps you narrow your search some.

I've noticed it less with Android 13, but android 13 broke my Tesla Key functionality....so not sure that was worth the trade off xD
Yeah, I haven't been able to pin point any specific cause which is super annoying....
Well it lasted a day or 2 then happened a few times again.
As this was a new device for me, I noticed it wasn't "activated" on T-Mobiles site. I went through the activation process and that seems to have fixed it for me now (wifi calling too).
Likely unrelated to what you're experiencing but thought I'd mention it.

That's interesting though, maybe I just need to go talk to ATT as much of a pain in the ass as it is -_-*
