I have metroPCS and they use MNC of 16 and every time I try to change the MNC and save the profile, the profile disappears. Currently running Lineage OS 14.1 but it happens on other roms as well.
Don't have my phone with me at the moment, but might be able to edit the apns_conf file under /system/etc maybe system/vendor/etc (it changed recently). You might be able to add MetroPCS config into that file and save it as one of the defaults.

It looks like MNC is wrong in the prebuilt template. As you say, it should be 016. What happens if you try to manually add a new APN (within the APN menu on the phone) with information from the 2nd sites source?
So alter the two middle ones? Cause the top and bottom ones I am not sure what to do with them.
So after altering everything and screwing with everything and pushing the phone till it literally broke I did what I should have done at the get-go.... brought it into metropcs. My bloody SIM card is defective. I have a feeling that there is some sort of BS associated with it, but the fix is literally a new SIM card for me.

They should give you a replacement sim for no charge.
FYI: You can manually add the apn your self.
Try these: ( add all of them) then you can click the check box for the one that works the best. On my phone, I have 10 different APNs that all work. Some better than others. In fact, I don't know but I get better internet than I pay for with one of them.

What Carrier r u using your phone on? If it's Verizon try to do the OTA again *228 option 1 cause that should set everything to the proper settings. If you are using a different carrier the we need to know what carrier so we can give u the correct info to manually put in2 the phone.

I have an factory unlocked/ OEM One X and use it on at&t network in NYC. No data. I have a plan with voice + unlimited text messaging.
My problem: I cannot receive picture people send me via text and I cannot send any either.
My APN settings are untouched and were set/ detected by the phone from the SIM.
Here they are. Help me please if you have any idea on how to solve this.

Here is the solution that worked for me. Hope this helps someone.
Attaching a picture to a SMS makes it a MMS and the transmission channel on the network is then different.
I also had a data block on my account on the at&t's end. That's what prevented any type of data to flow to/ from my phone.
Removing it allowed MMS to work even though I still data turned off on my phone in the settings.
I'm on a post paid plan but still use the Cingular APN. Here's my settings. The phone picked them up directly from the SIM and I didn't have to tweak anything. If you get funky results using the same settings it's probably due to the prepaid accounts being routed through seperate billing and administrative systems.
Thanks for posting. Same settings as mine.
Wondering where I can find the APN MMS settings for Virgin Mobile. I have a Bell Galaxy S3 that is unlocked and using it on Virgin Mobile. Flashed Cynagenmod10 on my device.

Hi there,
Just a small correction I found.
"APN TYPE : INTERNET + MMS" should be "APN TYPE : DEFAULT,MMS". I found the setting at http://androidforums.com/hero-support-troubleshooting/45005-mobile-network-apn-settings.html
Also that thread set the following proxy, port:
Proxy: 74.49.0.18
Port: 80
Once I made these change, I finally got Telus LTE data working again.
Thanks!

You don't need to set the proxy and port. Getting rid of the proxy is only really a concern if you want to block (some) adverts.
I believe "Internet + MMS" is for a device original to Telus. "default, mms" or "default, mms, supl" is for devices not from Telus. That's been my experience, anyway.
YMMV
I never get disappointed with XDA this thread saved my behind
The OP settings work great for me on my HTC One X+. I dont use a proxy/port settings for the APN and I get LTE.
maybe you guys can help me!!!
Hi ! i have a galaxy s3 with miui.us 3.2.8 on it . Maybe you can help me with something wrong . I cant get the LTE ,my apn and everything is fine but in network type selection i only get 3 options

To keep the development threads clean, you can post your APN data and steps taken to remedy any LTE data related issues.
Thanks,

For the longest time while on Fido (Fido is a Rogers Sub-brand), I could not get the Tethering to work. It seems that (at least for Fido guys) the the APN for LTE Tethering should be 'ltemobile.apn' just like the regular data one.

I left that as <NOT SET> and it was fine.
