Thank yoU!
Just wanted to stop by and say this info is still working well in 2018, much better than the junk they have on the official site. Thank you!
My MMS hasn't worked for 3 months with the info Virgin gave me themselves, but this did. A+

Hi guys!
I rooted my phone by flashing the xperia play firmware from the uk with a tutorial and everything is working PERFECT except for I'm stuck on EDGE (ew..)
Can someone who is a lot smarter than me help me out?
Plus 25 internet karma for anyone who helps
You need to add in the Rogers APNs.
you need
to manually add the apn data as well as messaging
Google Rogers apn and enter then in the fields in network settings

This is not working for me. I did a reset and added this APN but still no Data.
My phone can make calls but no internet.
Then you're doing it wrong. Try it again. It works fine. Also, make sure you select the Rogers APN after you've input it. (Don't just input the data, save it and then not click on the APN.)
It is the only one I have.
I put exactly what is in the above post.
Edit: I deleted it and started over. This time I left out the Proxy IP and it worked.
First Hi everyone.
I'm not too sure where to post this.
I also do not know if this is old news or not.
I have searched EVERYWHERE and could not find an answer and after countless hours of research and experimentation AND looking/calling all local t-mobiles stores for a non gba (50.01) sim card with no luck, I have gotten edge/2g data to work using the newer micro sim that comes with the HTC One S.
Here are my APN settings:
name: T-Mobile
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc

MMS port: not set
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: not set
APN type: default,supl,mms
Bearer: Unspecified
Then turn on the APN setting and Mobile data and magically I saw it saying conecting...connected!
Sorry if this is OLD news but somehow i could NOT find this anywhere and the apn settings were all different each place i looked.
Not only that I could not tell if ppl were talking about the international version or the one x and if they were different when regarding data connection and the infamous NON GBA sim cards.
Hope this helps.
If this is old news someone let me know
Must be different on the att version because it won't let you even select a apn that you create on the international version with the micro Sims that came with the one s

I got a brand new T999, and had it unlock on ebay. It can make phone calls, but can't access AT&T network, and it can access wifi though.
I called AT&T a couple of times, and I think they had done everything they could, including input an AT&T APN manually, but still could not make it work.
Do you guys have any idea to fix it?
Thanks very much!

I tried everything: factor reset, check/uncheck data package, power on/off.
Do you think it may be caused by the unlock process? it was not through an unlock code, and somebody connected to the phone remotely and did some work on it.

The AT&T CSR told me to input the following (I am not allowed to input outside links on this forum yet) and it didn't work. But I will definitely try yours. I don't quite understand "Stock tmobile everything.. kernel/rom. ". Did you mean I need to replace tmobile ROM before I input APN? Thanks a lot!

What I meant to say was that my phone was stock with no modifications, just unlocked. Just punched in the settings and was good to go. I don't see why it wouldn't be the same for other roms though. Hope it works!

Hi there,
Just a small correction I found.
"APN TYPE : INTERNET + MMS" should be "APN TYPE : DEFAULT,MMS". I found the setting at http://androidforums.com/hero-support-troubleshooting/45005-mobile-network-apn-settings.html
Also that thread set the following proxy, port:
Proxy: 74.49.0.18
Port: 80
Once I made these change, I finally got Telus LTE data working again.
Thanks!

You don't need to set the proxy and port. Getting rid of the proxy is only really a concern if you want to block (some) adverts.
I believe "Internet + MMS" is for a device original to Telus. "default, mms" or "default, mms, supl" is for devices not from Telus. That's been my experience, anyway.
YMMV
I never get disappointed with XDA this thread saved my behind
The OP settings work great for me on my HTC One X+. I dont use a proxy/port settings for the APN and I get LTE.
maybe you guys can help me!!!
Hi ! i have a galaxy s3 with miui.us 3.2.8 on it . Maybe you can help me with something wrong . I cant get the LTE ,my apn and everything is fine but in network type selection i only get 3 options
1- 3g preferred
2- only 2g
3- only 3g
but no lte option? please help me im on that thing for about 3 weeks i tried anything fix modem / return to stock rom and kernel (that i get the LTE) / try a new install with new rom and a new kernel but still nothing :.(
someone can help me?
Good day!!! well this problem has been driving me crazy for the past 6-7 hours. i bought an unlocked tmobile s3 and i'm trying to get data(4g) on this phone with straight talk. calling and texting work fine but data is a no go.
I have litterally tried over 10 diferent apn combinations found online, provided by stratight talk rep and this website and none have worked. with most of them i get the small 4g label to light up next to my signal strenghth implying that my phone is connected to data, but when ever i try looking for somenthing with the browser or the playstore it says i have no internet connection or it redirects me to a website
here are some of the apn combinations i've tried:
NAME:STRAIGHT_TALK
APN:wap.tracfone
PORT:8080
MMS_APN:wap.tracfone
MMSC: ttp://mms.tracfone.com (H at the beggining)
NAME:STRAIGHT TALK
APN:wap.tracfone
PORT:8080
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.40
MMSC: blank
NAME:STRAIGHT TALK
APN:wap.tracfone
Proxy: 216.155.165.40
PORT:8080
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.40
MMSC: blank
I'm starting to think that the permanent APN settings for tmobile, which i can't remove, are maybe causing conflict with straightalk's apn settings despite the fact my phone stays on straightalk apn settings.
please someone help me, i'm about to smash the phone and move on.
Try:
Name: StraightTalk T-Mobile
APN: wap.tracfone
Port: 8080
MMSC: http://mms.tracfone.com
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: default,supl, mms

Make sure that APN is actually set as default.

you do this by making sure the green dot, the straightalk apn is selected correct? if so it is and still not working.
I assume you are able to make and receive calls just fine. Silly question but I assume, your Straight Talk account is all set for data and what not ?
EDIT - What baseband do you have right now ?

yep i'm able to receive and make calls just fine and data is also configured. my baseband is 800/1900 i believe...
Baseband is not the operating frequency. Its the text you see when you go to Settings > About>Baseband. Please provide that value
Have you confirmed with Straight talk that your account is configured correctly for data and the sim is a newer sim ? Also try the sim in some other phone to see if you get data there.
