I tried, but I don't understand everything.
Can I do a backup on recovery and format the partition? But, what partition?
System? Data? Cache?
Another question: stock is compatible with ext4?

You need a kernel that can boot with data as ext4. Take a look at my post here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75099574&postcount=114
Magisk works fine with this.

I tried changing f2fs to ext4, but when I restore the data show: "encryption is incorrect. You only can restore the móvil"

No but don't forget to have an EXT4 compatible ROM ready to flash after installing CWM3.

no it wont wipe data if you stay on stock but if you're flashing another rom and not staying on stock you will be required to wipe data.

I'd prefer to stay on stock. Don't really want to load a custom rom. Thanks for the heads up.

Then i recommend you root with the 2.5.5 version as
EXT4 will be no benefit to you bro i believe you have to be on a compatible EXT4 ROM

I've rooted already on 2.5.5. I was just under the impression that EXT > RFS so that's why I wanted to switch.

Yes it is better as proven by now. But since you want to stay on the stock ROM and not lose and Data then you should stay with 2.5.5
If its just a problem of losing your data you can always back it up with an app like "Titanium Backup" and try an EXT4 ROM but if you want complete stock with root then use 2.5.5
Maybe you should try using a custom kernal. One that is compatible with ext4

Yes you can study on stick tom with EXT4. You need an EXT4 compatible kernel. It's not the rom. Just boot into cwm3 an let it convert your and then flash a kernel like genocide or twilight.

Just so you know, I tried it myself. Ext4 does not boot when 100% stock.

What if you remove some of the sprint bloatware?
That has no effect on the filesystem the kernel supports.

Yes, it's kernel-dependant. I figured as much but wanted to test it out. Stock ec05 will not boot ext4.

[Q] continuous reboots after flashing AOKP 4.2.2

I'm having trouble running AOKP on my phone. After wiping and flashing the ROM then Gapps the phone continues to reboot. Is there anything else that should be done?
Make sure you wipe all caches ams ext partition. Also male sure that you used the correct gapps. I know if you use the wrong gapps it will bootloop.
Are you s-off or just htc-dev unlocked?

I didn't change the kernel. In the first reply it mentions "ams ext"- did you mean to wipe external partition? Do I need to do any special formatting of the SDcard before flashing the ROM?

You will need an ext4 partition for the a2sd and it will need to be a clean flash too cause I'm on it now and I dirty flashed into no WiFi. So partition sdcard and clean flash.

Thank you very much for providing that link. Would you recommend to follow the partitioning scheme in that link or use different partition sizes? Should the remaining partition stay at Ext3 or updated to Ext4?

I'd use 0 swap, 1048 ext and remainder fat. Afterward upgrade to 3 then upgrade to 4 yes.

One more thing. There is an inbuilt file manager in TWRP recovery. You can use it to restore build.prop and set permissions.

How to decrypt?

Hey guys,
I got a rooted stock ROM with TWRP. When I go to TWRP I don't see any option to decrypt?
So how can I actually do it? Will I lose any data while decrypting?
Thanks in advance!

Simply format the data partition. (once you have to type: "YES", than you are at the right menu option)
It will delete ALL personal files (photos etc..)
Once you've done, you can go to the System settings to verify it.

Confirmed formatting the data partition disables encryption as well as any saved file so back up to pc or cloud if you have pictures movies docs you can't live without

Actually, you must be rooted, you must then flash a kernel that does not force encryption (or no force encryption zip), Then you format data. Yes, you will then loose your data. Follow the link, it's laid out pretty clearly for the N6 but the procedure for any Nexus is the same. There are a few other ways to do it but for the basics follow the link.

correct, however the OP already has a rooted device with TWRP. You can have root rights on 5x if you have installed a modified boot image. Therefore he/she has to format the data partition only.

It will not work, for advanced security reasons the encrypted device is the standard on Marshmallow.
If you want to decrypt your phone and would like to get a bit snappier device, than the only way is the rooted device. You do not have to install a custom Rom, just unlock the bootloader, install a modified kernel and format the Data partition.

This has nothing to do with root. The only prerequisite is a kernel with forced encryption disabled and formatting data after flashing such kernel.
You don't need to be rooted to run unencrypted.
I'm on ElementalX kernel.
If I backup the data partition, then format it to disable encryption, and then restore data, will it work?

This imho is the most valuable information for a newcomer, so this post should be a sticky. Once you know it, you think everybody knows it. I was at my wits end trying decrypt questioning my move to N5X from N5, till I found this post. Many misleading posts around that make you go around in circles. Thanks again man!
So not need to flash kernel? Just root and clear the partiton?

Neither of those have anything to do with any apps. If your using official TWRP then you can keep your /data partition encrypted. To remove encryption you will format which also erases everything in /data and internal SD. What your referring to changes the fstab to allow the choice to be encrypted, and was only necessary before TWRP was able to decrypt.

Hello Skywalker! Can you tell me how I would go about disabling forced encryption for good?(at least until I choose to turn back on). I don't want my device to be encrypted whatsoever, so after I wipe data and flash lineage/stock, what else should I do to prevent the device from encrypting? Thanks!
