[Tasker][Root][OOS5] Alert Slider Mod - OnePlus 5 Themes, Apps, and Mods

This Tasker project will set your Alert Slider as follows:
Top: None
Mid: All
Bottom: Vibrate
Things required:
OOS 5 (tested and working), root, Tasker.
1- Go in the alert slider settings and set it like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2- Download the attached tasker backup and restore it via the top right menu.
3- Enjoy and modify the tasks! You can do almost everything, just don't modify the "Read Slider" task, since it's the one that manages the slider position's reading. For example you can set Silent to also put the phone in airplane mode for the night.
Why root? Root is required to read "/sys/class/switch/tri-state-key/state", a file that contains a number that varies from 1 to 3 (from top position to bottom position).
In OOS4 you can't freely change volumes manually, as it is locked by the system. OOS5 unlocks this and makes the mod possible.
Don't have root/have OOS4 but still want None/All/Vibrate? Here's a guide i made that simply uses a play store app to set the "all" setting to 0 volume and vibrate.

Nice. Is it possible to modify to the following easily in Tasker?:
Top: ring
Middle: vibrate
Bottom: silent
I'm not very good with that app, but that's me favourite combo.

Unfortunately you can't set the middle setting to 0 volume, so no.

Thanks a lot....with this profile i created a secret recorder using the alert slider.... thanks ....been working on it

Thanks! Would it work with setting a scheduler to imitate the DND from stock Android? So that I get only the priority notifications from let's say 11PM-7AM?

No, you can't change the buttons' positions via software. I think there was a thread somewhere in here where they discussed using an app that forced DND and some other things on OOS4 but I don't know if it could be automated nor if it works on OOS5.

Vibration Setting

Hello..
anyone can explain where i can find "Vibration Setting" ?
Don't found nothing about it
Depends on what you're trying to adjust. Messaging, calls, keyboard or did you just want to adjust the vibration intesity?

Already know it.. but can't increase or decrease vibration level !!
It is VERY rare for a STOCK ROM to have Vibration intensity, # of increments of volume rocker, increment to % ration of brightness settings, etc. They never add settings where you can modify the default setting numbers directly. :/

Oh really?!? Thats amazing ... Not even my Nexus 7 has it.
In the settings, I did find something that was great (at least for me). If you go into the keyboard's settings, it shows "vibrate on button press" and it includes OFF, LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH. I always put it to OFF on devices because their "low" settings is way too strong, especially when you're pressing 3 buttons per second it adds up and sounds like 1 constant vibration stream. However, the LOW setting on the ZF2 is EPIC. It is extremely light, barely felt at 1 button press, but there nonetheless. As you start typing paragraphs, it feels great to have constant feedback without it sounding like a stream.
The only area for keyboard and intensity is the keyboard settings. Settings> Language & Input> ASUS Keyboard> Vibrate on keypress. Then you'll see option to turn it to low, high, normal and off.
As for altering intensities for notifications, incoming calls and haptic feedback, you won't find that here without root and/or 3rd party app.

Try the PreRoot ROM ... I got it PERFECTLY functioning on my ZE551ML 4GB/32GB Chinese variant. It actually changed my firmware from CN to WW! Also got rid of Chinese apps/settings, made it easy to install Google apps/services, and best of all it got me ROOT.

Notification Related Question App Suggestion Request

Hey guys,
I have a question about how to do the following:
Let's say I have WhatsApp installed. When I receive a message notification in WhatsApp, in the notification panel I want it to show as a custom notification from some other app instead of WhatsApp notification. This way I'll know that I received a notification, but if I temporarily handed over my phone to a friend he won't know that it was a WhatsApp notification. I don't care of the notification is clickable or not.
So the task is two fold.
1. Block/clear the notification of the original application.
2. Put a fake notification in the notification panel when 1 happens.
I have tried installing Tasker and AutoNotification, but I can't figure it out. Any help is appreciated!!
Thank you so much in advance.
There should be an option to block notifications within the AutoNotification app (no need to create a Tasker profile for it).
As for a "fake" notification, you can use the option "Notify" in Tasker.

If I block the notification using autonotification, tasker's notify task doesnt get triggered and no fake notification shows up, if there is a way to intercept the notification from tasker's then I can fire up two events, one for blocking notification and another for showing a fake notification. Is that possible via tasker?

Not too sure about your method, but maybe try adding a wait?
So, once your real notification shows up, put a wait of maybe 1-2 seconds to allow enough time for AutoNotification to see it. Once it sees and the wait time ends, the task would continue as normal.
This is all in theory as I'm not testing it myself, but I hope it helps nonetheless!
I don't want to add a delay, because it'll show the notification for the delay, right?
But I did figure it out, on how to achieve it.
1. In Tasker, setup the autonotification intercept event to show the fake notification.
2. Block all the notifications from the autonotification app settings.
Below are the two images to show my setup. Now all I need to do is to hide the app from launcher and I'm all set. That'll make it completely stealth!

Yeah it would show the notification for those 1-2 seconds, glad you got your method working though!

[GUIDE] Make a stock "screen off" shortcut that works with Fingerprint/SmartLock

[GUIDE] Make a stock "screen off" shortcut that works with Fingerprint/SmartLock
Hi!
One thing I've always thought that was missing in this phone was a "screen off" shortcut that so many brands currently have.
Third party options have caveats. Using device administrator locks the phone but disables fingerprint or smar lock, using timeout often didn't work well as the black screen sometimes continued to show the status bar or was responsive to touches during the timeout.
This method shuts the screen off as if you pressed the power button using bixby.
To do this:
- Open Bixby - Click the 3 dotted menu - Quick commands - My commands - Click on the plus icon to add a command.
-Name it as you wish in any language, the name you give it here is the name of the shortcut on the home screen.
-Then in what bixby does choose "type a command" and write "Screen off".
- Save it
- Then click the 3 dotted menu in front of the command you've just made and choose Add to Home Screen.
That's it, enjoy!

Great
doubleHome
There's an even easier way to do this and it works anywhere on the phone, not just the launcher shortcut. I've been using this utility called doubleHome from Jawomo since my S8+ days, and it lets me double tap the home button from anywhere to turn off and lock the screen. Just installed it on my new A50, still works great!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-doublehome-double-tap-home-to-off-t3611220
It's no longer on the Play Store or even supported anymore, but the above thread has one of the last versions (v1.30). There was one last update to v1.31, which is the one I've always used since I originally updated it through the Play Store before it was pulled. This last version can easily be found with a Google search.
There are a few miscellaneous options to customize its behavior and some Pro features that were unlockable at one point but no longer. One little "glitch" if you can even call it that, the status bar will stay on for a second or two before turning off like the rest of the screen. This didn't used to happen until Oreo and later, but it's not a big deal at all - actually looks kinda neat.
Give it a try!
This is great!

Question How to use automate app to turn on AOD during notification?

I am using the app automate in hopes of having the always on display turn on when I get a notification. Currently none of the scripts in the community work for poco f3/MIUI 12. Do any of you guys know a script that works?
Did you find an answer? I'm looking for a way to get notification light on LineageOS, I was liking the Always on breathing notification of MIUI.
I got it working with macrodroid, thanks to an old macro I've edited few months ago.
This is the code extracted from macro:

Thanks, good to hear you got it working.
How do you import this macro in macrodroid? I tried to save it as text file and also changed the extension to mdr but it fails to import it.
Is this format also compatible with the open source app 'Automation' or 'Easer'?

Search for "Selective Always on Display" in macrodroid example and import it (save).
Then edit apps list inside the macro, according to your needs
Thanks! That works great and smooth.
I tested it with telegram and works like a charm.
i found one glitch with telegram and k9-mail. When I look at the message from the desktop version (not touching my phone), the notification disappears on my phone but aod effectively stays on, screen does not go black until I unlock and relock my phone, after that screen is black. Gonna fiddle with that some more. Maybe i need to add a screen off or something to it.
Update:
I edited the macro a bit and splitted up some actions. Adding a turn screen off did not do it. I first had to turn on the screen and then turn it off. So now when I read a mail or message on my desktop, notifications on my phone are cleared, it disables aod, turns screen on and then off and my phone turns black.

Question Changing quick camera open shortcut

Hello,
I want to launch a 3rd party camera app when double pressing the power button.
However, when disabling the stock camera app, the double press shortcut is doing nothing neither asking for anything.
The stock camera package name seems hardcoded.
Where can I change the apk name this shortcut is using?
Thanks !
Replying to myself :
It can easily be done with Tasker using this profile:

The double press shortcut still need to be enabled in Settings -> System -> Gestures

Thanks for the info, that's interesting to know and might help someone else later on.
Always nice to see that the solutions to problems get posted here. There are enough OPs out there that never update their post and it just gets forgotten, even though the problem has been solved at some point.
@Thibale That link won't open for me on my Pixel. I get: "taskerserver.error.ExceptionUserNotAuthenticated". I'm new to Tasker, btw. Trying to figure it out. A question: do I require root to implement this function?

I don't know I never used Tasker before as well but for such a simple task it was pretty straightforward, just specify the gcam apk in the tasks properties.
Tasker is getting a root access but I don't know if it's mandatory for this task.

I get this. Now what to do?
The UI of Tasker for me is the exact opposite of intuitive. I have no clue why it is necessary to create a profile to create a task to launch an app. I'm totally lost.
I'm glad that there's now the possibility to do stuff via taskernet. I few years ago I was happy when I found the solution when somebody made a step-by-step guide to achieve the intended actions in Tasker I was looking for. Kudos to those people.
If the direct link doesn't work, just search for "double press power camera" on taskernet public profil and you should be able to get it
I'm not able to find it. There is only one camera related task to import. But that's for quick settings.
Button mapper can do this.

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Try this Tasker profile: https://taskernet.com/shares/?user=AS35m8lVhcOaGKZz/GWc7NgvIt2AxLZ8vmPse1zqSHFH7jZHS101OvNEymTLPwosP7Hb3zvB&id=ProfileoublePress
I'm too lazy to figure out how reset the app for double-tap, so this task just kills the stock camera and launches "Camera 8.3". You'll need root. If you want it to open a different app you'll need to change it in the task
Edit: if you don't want to import the profile, just create one that triggers from event>system>logcat entry:
For component enter "GestureLauncherService" (no quotes! capitalizion matters!). For filter enter "Power button double tap gesture detected, launching camera"
Then just assign whatever task you want
Is it possible to use double tap to wake up phone when asleep? or double tap for screen off when awake? Basically replace the tap button as a power button...
