Sharing is caring if you have rooted device to extract the OTA update zip. I don't know any other methods of extracting the OTA updates.
On a locked phone you can do nothing.
Possibly one might use network trafic monitor to catch the link where the file is hosted.
The person could get the OTA, then unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, make a backup and share such backup.

To start off with to upload an ota you have downloaded you need to be rooted as it's downloaded to the cache partition only accessible by root
The updater app won't work if you are rooted so you have to go to the bother of hiding root which you can't do on stock rom unless you have a modified kernel or change partition type
Only phones that have been registered via imei can download the file
The person who has been accepted to the Moto soak test has signed a legal document saying that they can not share or disclose the OTA or its contents
Motorola have forced xda to remove such ota zips in the past
There's no point in flashing ota zips that are not for your region - you risk bricking your phone
Take into account all the above can you not just wait

I think sharing The Beta Files isnt so nice for motorola... You can get away with damage, as The Update will Be sent Out for a specific IMEI. i contacted Support. So its worthless, unless you Register to MFN.

Sharing the actual ZIP might be illegal, but not a backup of the system partition. When I participated in the Moto MAXX subforum, people used to share TWRP backups of soak tests with no consequences.

Well that's a dumb-ass comment isn't it, what if he WONT get it because he has a htc branded device?
1.15.405.4 (generic HTC ROM) = T-Mobile updated ROM
Hence no update needed. And if he's on T-Mobile he'll get it in time, patience is the key my friend
Ultimately, an HTC generic SIM-free phone will get updates before the operators
I won't get the update, my phone was from the second batch it already has the update on it.just wanted to keep this update so I can mess with generic rom and have it as a backup incase something goes wrong and I need to return the phone.
Can you not 'dump' it or something? The updated ROM wasn't a download so I don't think anyone has it (I've come from cooking WinMo ROMs where they're easy to get hold of so dunno about Android)
if no-one has it yet, then just use the 1.15.405.3 in the development section, which you can then update OTA to the latest version.
simples.

OK......ill repeat it slowly with pictures
I assume the OP wants someone to upload the T-mobile update for future use! (as we already have a way to get the htc rom as advised by rhedgehog)
This update will help people who have t-mobile device but have installed a stock htc rom.
If someone is kind enough to upload the t-mobile update those people who have installed a htc rom onto a t-mobile device can re-brand their handsets
If the op has a HTC branded device he wont receive the t-mobile update
No the Op cannot dump his device into a htc signed rom, and it was a download as the phone downloaded it onto the phone prior to flashing it
Apologies for the double post, but as the Op asked
If anyone gets the t-mobile update on their device, could they please upload it and post a link
Just 2 explain. My phone came with this update already installed(it was from the second batch of tmob phones) I want to put the unbranded htc rom on it and keep this update incase I need to send the phone back for repair. I didn't think I could dump the phone and restore from that. The update would make the process simples.

Yes we know its not abouts, that's why we want it posted. We don't have either of the T-mobile roms
Anyone who has a t-mobile device who hasn't yet received the update can take a copy of the update file from their phone when they receive it.
We just need someone to make a copy of the update file once they have received it via OTA
Why bother? The T-Mobile update is no newer than the ROM on the HTC branded devices. It's just bringing the first batch devices up to speed with the ROM already send out to the HTC ones.

If you be on 98.18.94 do the OTA of the same name!
....98.30.1 do the OTA likewise.
More:

I was on 98.18.94 and updated to KK 182. I froze system apps and it refused to boot. Then i RSD'd to 98.30.1 and that gave me the KK 183. update. NOTHING on the phone changed. Bootloader still unlocked and everything. I believe they're pretty much identical and it doesnt matter which update you take.
I was kind in the same situation, I was on 98.18.94, but was rooted and couldn't take the OTA. Used House of Moto to go to 98.30.1 and then was able to take OTA. I still have the original KitKat OTA Blur_Version.98.18.94.XT907.Verizon.en.US.zip that I pulled before going to 98.30.1. Are you saying I should be using that version 182.46.10.xt907 instead of 183.46.10.xt907 since I originally had the 98.18.94? Any idea what the difference is between the 2 versions?

I no longer have a M. I did check the recoveries & they have different md5's.
There have been just too many borks associated with this neglect of name/build subtlety to ignore it.
Since I have the original OTA could I either down grade and apply the correct OTA or since I have an unlocked bootloader would I be able to reinstall the original without the down grade step?

Yes, I talked to our mutual friend about it a few days ago and was told the same thing. How stras1234 managed to acquire the FXZ so quickly is beyond me but truly amazing. We were highly skeptical when he posted that he had it on droidrzr. I guess we should have looked into it a bit further. LOL. But that's what prompted me to ask our mutual friend about it and when he said it wasn't out, my skepticism grew. Ah well. Most impressive!

Since the FXZ for KK was posted, I've updated my thread with instructions on how to use it. I'd just flash that and call it good. The whole 182 vs 183 nonsense is a red herring. There's no difference between the builds except the build number and signing keys. Personally if I still had a Moto phone I'd be sticking with the FXZ path regardless of what anyone says.

I dont now why..but i found bug with version 183..sometimes i got my phone cant turn on from lockscreen..and can only fix it using hard reboot (press vol up+vol down+power in the same time)..i hope with version 182 can be solved..and another question is after ota update my model number is XT905 NOT XT907 OR Razr M..dunno why

That's odd about XT905 (since neither the Electrify M, nor the Aussie Razr M got KitKat yet - they're both can be XT905 for some reason), but yes, you could try to flash again via RSD Lite for a cleaner system. It doesn't matter if it's 182 or 183 though, as it's the same version.
OT: But for the Electrify M which is XT901 an update is announced at Moto's site now.
It is the knock code update

use a root explorer to copy it to an sdcard then use dropbox app to upload it there.

Could you possibly make a back up and upload it for me before you make any system modifications. I have boost but my original backup got corrupted somehow and I want to make sure what I'm running is the right firmware. I also want a backup of that original firmware. If you could also do me another favor and pull the oem.img and modem.img and upload them along with the recovery.img? I'm making stock ROMs and for some reason a rom made with what I thought was Sprint firmware works fine, but one made with what I thought was Boost firmware gives me a boot loop for some reason and I'm trying to figure out why? I'd really appreciate it. If you don't know how to pull the imgs I can instruct you, it's really simple. Thanks!

I just bought the Verizon varient. It updated today. I plugged into my PC and ran Kingroot. It asked to "try new root strategy", something it did not ask before. Root still fails though.
"This is the older update, right? Not a new one..."
Probably, it will bring NCQ26.69-33 to NCQ##.##-35 for Boost. (According to meta file in zip)
"I also want a backup of that original firmware"
Since I've already rooted, unrooted, lost cell service, lost system, and, just today, bringing it back to a usable state, I can vouch for the NCQ26.69-33 located here
Use the RSD XML-to-flash tool. Found it on Google somewhere.
My best advice is to use the "dm-verity-opt-encrypt.zip" located in root guide before any flash, especially if it entails a system related modification (ie magisk, scripts, etc). If ya get a non-flashable state, flash the boot.img again in twrp, reboot and redo the flash "dm-verity-opt-flash.zip"
Many thanks for kartik verma for posting the OEM device files link.

Using Motorola's company website to get the unlock key and using fastboot to flash, as stated in the rooting guide, is most thorough. Less 3rd party spam too
I have Boost but digging in the device files has shown a lot of 'verizon' being in various system files. Sprint, is Sprint, especially in prepaid flavors, imho.
...35? I have NCQ26-69-48 on a Boost E4. So yeah, older firmware.
Yes, the newest Boost firmware is this one from the link posted above.

I Do Believe You Need To Be Rooted To Install Magisk...
And to root you have to Unlock your Bootloader.
Your device will Reject Any and All O.T.A.'s with an Unsecure (A.K.A. Unlocked) Bootloader.
That's why you get that hidious *Warning!* message everytime you reboot.. your device knows it's unsecured.
You can sideload all the upcoming O.T.A.'s when someone makes them available.. I kinda doubt that is going to be on day one though.
The Nice thing about those of you that are rooting is, you can just pay the $18.00 bucks and bring your phone back to stock with that D.C. tool that is being discussed in the Q & A.. I assume it works on all variants ?
Anyway.. good luck to you if you do decide to go ahead and unlock that Bootloader.

Magisk is a rooting method, I know from experience that you don't already have to have a rooted phone. Also magisk v14 added a feature where you could patch the boot image and flash it via adb.

Magisk is a rooting method, I know from experience that you don't already have to have a rooted phone. Also magisk v14 added a feature where you could patch the boot image and flash it via adb.
What's this "D.C. tool"? It sound interesting

You Are 100% Correct...
You're conversing with an old "SuperSu" guy here.. I totally forgot mag's is a rooter like Su.
But you still have to Unlock that loader to make it happen.. You are not going to get any O.T.A.'s
I know Magisk can hide root for things like netflix... But not to recieve Vendor Updates.. unless things have changed drasticly.. please correct me if I'm wrong..
But again.. sideloading is always an option.

I'm probably wrong, but from what I've read, you can still take ota's with an unlocked bootloader?
A Virgin...

When It Comes To Huawei.. I'm A Virgin...
Every other phone I've seen, the O.T.A. will notify you that your system has been "Modified" and will not attempt the update.
When you root.. Your Phone Becomes Insecure.. and is vernable to Malware, Virus, Hacks and god knows what else.
O.T.A.'s are Signed Packages.. They Ain't Going To Da Hood To Do Business...
Keep it locked if you want everything on day 1.. Then you can Root to your hearts content.

Note u definitely can't take OTA updates with Magisk installed. What's worse is the normal recovery doesn't have a proper update option so u'll have to use Huawei's Dload method which fails if u have tampered the system. Restoring to the stock ROM with a locked bootloader is also incredibly hard on Huawei/Honor devices.

Here's how to take ota updates with magisk. But what your saying is Huawei doesn't use recovery to update, they use proprietary methods that detect system modifications, right?

Thats not what I meant, Huawei does use the recovery to update like any other phone but their recovery doesn't let the user to sideload their own OTA files. U'll have to use their Dload method which is an absolute pain.
Further, the Magisk page u posted here mentions the system and vendor must not be modded so that means you can't use any app like Titanium Backup to block or uninstall apps since it tampers the system. Thats really annoying since the whole point of rooting is to modify the system. Also if u used TWRP then u will have a hard time trying to find the right recovery file corresponding to the firmware u r on. It is really hard for Honor devices since u'll have to download a large file and, using a tool on XDA, extract the images u need. IMO rooting this phone is worth it right now especially since it is new and will constantly be recieving OTAs in the coming months.
