ZVD starts rolling out today - Sprint LG G2

It is the knock code update
Edit: I should probably include a link..
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...h-support-for-lgs-knock-code-security-system/

Got the update an hour ago. Im on zvc stock rooted so ill have to wait for the awesome devs to post it here.

awwwww yeaaaaaaaaaaaa finally we need this thanks for the info

And I'm assuming there's no wifi calling since it's not even mentioned?

Anyone captured the OTA update?

Has anyone released the ZVD radio yet?

I'm just waiting for someone to take the OTA and do a ROOTED BACKUP, and then put it on XDA....!
I'M NOT TRYING TO LOSE "ROOT" FOR KNOCK CODE.

I'd be happy to. My device shows the update is downloaded and waiting for install.
Point me in the right direction and I'll post it up.

you can just download it and dont reboot, should be in the cache folder in root.

The software update, which brings it up to Sprint’s version ZVD, also includes a new icon for HD Voice (something that’s being added to other devices as well), a patch for Google, and an updated email signature. Owners will also see improvements for group messaging.

From my phone, without using a PC, how do I get it from that folder to Dropbox or another file sharing Avenue?

use a root explorer to copy it to an sdcard then use dropbox app to upload it there.

I accepted the zvd update about an hour ago and lost root.
ioroot25 works with the zvd update.

I like how there is no WiFi calling.... especially with the crappy network and occasional issues with the Airave, you would think they would enable it for the G2 already, but no.:crying:

Why would you need to grab the 'working' wifi calling files if this is an ota. Why don't you just install the ota?
And from what I remember(too lazy to double check), the problem was with the kernel, which has nothing to do with the wifi calling app.
Your post is confusing because you're telling people to get logcat ready so they can pull the 'working' wifi calling files. If that's all you're waiting for, just install the ota.

Okay, we need somebody to capture the link to get the update files. Once the developers got the updaye files and settings, they can develop a installable and working wifi calling update.
It's not affordable to spend $450 for mytouch or $500 for G2 just for wifi calling while nexus one works 100%.

Might be a patch don't take it. Or it could be camera related.
Could be a patch to get us up to 4.3 speed. Definitely advised to not take it.

Flashing another ROM with built in OTA blocker should work or any ROM but you may get prompted repeatedly if it doesnt have OTAs blocked.

I got notified for the update after it automatically downloaded at 11:38AM CST. It downloaded into /cache/fumo/ as OTAPkg.zip, just like the last update.
I have uploaded the file here for whomever would like to take it apart.
I hit check new, and it downloaded it but then nothing happened and it didn't give me the option to apply it. Clicking check new now does nothing. Weird.
EDIT: never mind, it prompted me. I'm installing it now (I don't care about root)

*Disregard* Got my 4.6.3 (620) 3 months later LOL

Update:
It was 4.6.3 - 620, I just never got it 3 months ago LOL
Hey guys,
I'm just getting prompted to install an update on my phone but it doesn't says which version, I'm assuming it is 4.6.4 because it says it will reboot to install update (and I'm on 4.6.3), if it were an apk update it wouldn't even prompt me..
Question, how do I pull the update file before updating? Does anyone received this update too? Any changes?
Bump
I doubt it will be 4.6.4 as that build was updated to 4.6.5 on AT&T so why would they give it to us?
I just tried to update and didn't get anything, take a leap of faith...update and let us know what you get !

Use any (root) file explorer and check the internal storage root folder, if it's not there, check the download folder, or let the file explorer search for big files on that partition.
I guess more people will report back soon, since they just started rolling out the update.
Details of the changes are not known yet, I assume it will include most of the "improvements" that we saw on the 4.6.5 AT&T variant.

Alright, alright, alright... I was focusing too much on the AT&T remark and I thought: here we go again with someone confusing builds / variants but I didn't mean it in a condescending way... *****.

I didn't post saying yeah they are releasing this or that , I was questioning his assumption nothing more.
I've been in the forum world "cars mainly" for sometime so I wouldn't confirm on anything unless I know it for sure
Ok so it was not 4.6.4
I'm trying to upload a picture but don't know of a good service, imageshack seems not working for me.
Previous OS was: 4.6.3 (463001420)
New OS is: 4.6.3 (463001620) *rootable, strapable, flashable
So it upgraded inside my pocket, so it is unclear to me if it rebooted or not, but I can tell it was a huge file since it took a couple minutes.
There is also a bunch of APK updates waiting, but that I don't care. No visible changes, probably under the hood tricks to further lock this device.

well i think i'll wait till someone manage to root zvi .. XD
just received the ZVI update this morning. On one hand, I guess I should be pleased that LG cares just enough to keep updating this old device with security improvements and updates. After Toting back to ZVE and updating to ZVH, my GPS seems to be working finally. Was flaky to non functional since I got it(refurb from Freedompop) on ZVG.
However, it;s a pain in the butt to restore the firmware back to ZVE and lose root.
Please let us know if you figure out how to get root back on ZVI and thanks again
Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the OTA update nag message or prevent the download of the update.zip file? Is there an APK I can freeze using Titanium Backup? Most annoying thing about the OTA update is that it doesn;t seem to care if you are on wifi or mobile data when it downloads/redownloads(which it will do infinitely).
It seems that ZVI non-rootable for now Shame! Security fix from 01-11-2015, so they fix holes in system = no-root. Back to ZVH, or cm13...

you root zvi?
Sorry to hear all of you weren't able to achieve root with the new update using the older method. I'm glad I stopped by here to do some reading before I updated. I was going to TOT back this weekend and take ZVI. Root is a must since I use the hotspot mod so ZVI is gonna hate to wait.
Hopefully someone will figure out a way around the newest security patch soon.
Need a little help disabling the ZVI OTA notification. I've tried several older methods but none have worked. I've selected the install later option but as you all know, the notification persists in the drop down menu. If possible, I would like to do away with it entirely until a method of rooting ZVI is created. Any info on disabling the notification would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Biker

Sharing is caring if you have rooted device to extract the OTA update zip. I don't know any other methods of extracting the OTA updates.
On a locked phone you can do nothing.
Possibly one might use network trafic monitor to catch the link where the file is hosted.
The person could get the OTA, then unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, make a backup and share such backup.

To start off with to upload an ota you have downloaded you need to be rooted as it's downloaded to the cache partition only accessible by root
The updater app won't work if you are rooted so you have to go to the bother of hiding root which you can't do on stock rom unless you have a modified kernel or change partition type
Only phones that have been registered via imei can download the file
The person who has been accepted to the Moto soak test has signed a legal document saying that they can not share or disclose the OTA or its contents
Motorola have forced xda to remove such ota zips in the past
There's no point in flashing ota zips that are not for your region - you risk bricking your phone
Take into account all the above can you not just wait

I think sharing The Beta Files isnt so nice for motorola... You can get away with damage, as The Update will Be sent Out for a specific IMEI. i contacted Support. So its worthless, unless you Register to MFN.

Sharing the actual ZIP might be illegal, but not a backup of the system partition. When I participated in the Moto MAXX subforum, people used to share TWRP backups of soak tests with no consequences.
