[Q] Root jelly bean verizon galaxy nexus phone without using the power button?

My power button died, and I'm trying to deal with it, found my way here about rooting the phone. It seems like all the instructions require the power button to select a mode or something. Is there a way to root the phone without the power button so I can use sweep to wake?

activate adb debugging mode , then go to command prompt and type either "adb reboot bootloader " or "adb reboot recovery" to enter either mode without power button .

Thanks! I tried, but in order to unlock the bootloader, I have to press the power button to continue?

you can always flash back to a older firmware using toolkits

[Q] Unable to enter fastboot mode

Hello!
I am unable to boot to fastboot mode by pressing volume up + down + power buttons. I turn off the device and I simultaneously I press these buttons. The screen remains black.
I unlocked and rooted the device with Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit without any problem. The devices does enter to fastboot mode via the toolkit (adb) but I can't make it work with the buttons. What am I doing wrong? :cyclops:

[Help] unlock bootloader in MM

i got my moto 360 with MM installed
here's what i did
- make a interface cable by rootjunky
- run fastboot oem unlock
- heres the problem, it prompt...
"(bootloader) Press power button within 5 seconds to confirm"
but when i press the power button, it change the boot mode or enter the boot mode, it doesnt unlock the bootloader
what to do?

Have you enabled usb debugging?
try "adb devices". if it says "unauthorized" and you are don't to get a confirmation request on the phone then use the hardware button combination.
hold vol up + vol down + power, release the power key after the screen lights up but keep holding the two volume keys until the fastboot screen shows.

I tried this method for flash twrp but it did not recognise my phone I was given command fastboot devices

Were you able to boot in fastboot?
Do you have the proper drivers installed?

how turn-off bricked redmi note 5?

Hi
I brick my Redmi Note 5 with locking bootloader. Now phone boot into Recovery mode and restart after 2 or 3 minute into recovery mode again.
I can switch to Fastboot mode to, BUT I CANT POWER OFF PHONE ANYWAY.
I use combination of:
(Volume +) & (power)
(Volume -) & (power)
(Volume +) & (Volume -) & (power)
But in all combination phone will restart and don't power off.
How can turn off my phone to use EDL (deep flash) Cable?

Open your phone and disconnect the battery (the last chance i think)
What type of Recovery do you have? Usually recovery have an option to shut down the device.

charge the phone and use combination to off it

Thats the official recovery from Xiaomi and thats not have shutdown menu

Try from ADB/Fastboot this command
adb shell su -c 'am start -a com.android.internal.intent.action.REQUEST_SHUTDOWN'
I've never used it, if you can't access Fastboot mode you need to disconnect the battery
