After updating to 8.1, I lost the first row of icons on the home screen. I put them back.
But today, these first row icons vanished again.
What happened ?

Getting the clock in title par on homepage?

On my Vario II the clock was in the title on all pages including the today screen..
Now I've flashed to the WWE Tytn WM6 it's sitting lower down on the today screen, next to the date. I've ticked the box in time settings saying "display the clock in the title bar in all programs" - and it does on every page EXCEPT the today screen?
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Edit: I've just noticed I have the battery icon in the title bar on the today screen, which I never used to have. This isn't really needed as there is also a battery indicator at the bottom of the today screen. So how can I lose this and replace it with the clock. Thx.
Never mind. I did it as per this article http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/04/28/586453.aspx
Cheers.

Tilt 2, Start Menu Icons have changed size, arrangement

I have a strange issue. After a soft reset, the Start Menu when in portrait mode is now only showing 3 icons across, and larger icons. Stock ROM, it was originally 4 icons across, with slightly smaller icons just earlier today (with 3 icons across in landscape). The only thing that really changed, was that I installed Advanced Config 3.3 and played with some of the cache settings. There doesn't seem to be any setting for the icon sizes. But seeing as this is the only thing that changed, I tried the Advanced Config menu choice "Restore all settings" and uninstalled the program. After soft reset, still only showing 3 icons across.
Anybody seen this happen, and know how to change it back to 4 icons across in portrait? I would prefer to see more programs on the page, without having to scroll down.
For that matter, I didn't like how it switched to 3 icons across in landscape. So I would change that to 4 across also, if possible.
I did some searching on this website and on Google, and didn't come across a fix.
Got it. Took more searching around, found the right cab in the thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=573947
RRE 4 Per Row.cab gives 4 icons across in portrait, and 5 in landscape. Just what I was looking for!

Unusable home panel

As you know, arc has 5 panels that can be scrolled through, 1 central and 2 to each side. My issue is with the 1st one to the left.
After I have updated to the latest version of the YouTube app from the market this panel and more specifically the position were its widget used to be placed is grayed out whenever I try to place a widget on it.
So let's say one home panel has 4 rows for widgets, in my case row no. 2 from top to bottom is grayed out and does not accept any widget on it.
Have you encountered this before?
Try settings>applications>manage applications>tab 'all' find Sony Ericsson Home and choose 'erase data' (or something similar.....translated from dutch, sorry..).
This will clear all your widgets on all your homescreens, so you have to add them again, but then you can use the part of the screen that's greyed out again.
Thx
I did not have the patience, so I re-installed the whole firmware which was pretty overkill. And took some time to get everything back again.
LOL...to bad i was to late with my answer, well..next time you'll remember

No more Status Bar?

Hi - I just set up a new S9 (AT&T). I installed my apps and went through some out of the box software updates so its now running 8.0.
Last night I noticed that when on my homescreen my Status Bar is now gone. It comes back if I open an app or go into the Apps drawer, but I cant see it from any page on my homescreen.
I can still swipe down from the top of the screen to get to the settings shortcuts, but I cant see Notifications, Battery, Signal, etc from any homescreen pages.
Its actually making me crazy - was hoping someone might have some thoughts on how to remedy this?
Thanks.
Hi after trying all morning I finally solved this - I found a lot of other posts outside XDA struggling with this issue so just wanted to update in case anyone else is having this problem.
I was using a picture as my wallpaper. For some reason this was making the bar invisible (or somehow the color changes to blend in to the background completely?). I changed to a Samsung stock wallpaper and it was visible again. I then changed back to set my picture as the wallpaper, and now the status bar is still visible...
Whatever - dont know why, but it worked!

General New System Update 62.1.A.0.617

Hi, this morning I received a notification of a new system update, release 62.1.A.0.617.
Wasn't able to find any info on the web, so I'll wait for a while before proceeding to update my Xperia.
Do someone have news?
Ciao!
Updated today, can't see any difference so far, other than the security patch level, which is now July 1, 2022.
Dito. No (new) bugs so far.
I had one problem so far - home screen now shows one row of apps less than before the bottom ones just disappeared to my confusion.
@De Greedy same experience here, before the update, my 5x9 app drawer would fit on one screen, now i have to scroll to see the last row.
I used the default display size and font size from settings before and after the update.

Right after the update the phone started acting weirdly, graphics were not smooth but kind of jumping, the wifi was off and couldn't turn it on, notifications history always crashed, but this all were fixed after multiple restarts. However, the software update history only shows previous two updates, but not the current one, despite the fact that software was actually updated (based on quick settings menu version number, checking for updates, security update date, and baseband number).
I've been using it for four days now. Haven't noticed anything bad so far.
I confirm that the spacing between the icons on the screen and in the app drawer changed a little, rows are more separated. Not a big deal for me.
The last update appears regularly in the history.
No other issues at the moment.
edit: there are new emojis

does everyone know how to change UI Color?
To my knowledge, you can't choose, it follows the main color of the desktop image.
Unless you install a different launcher(!)
