I have a strange issue. After a soft reset, the Start Menu when in portrait mode is now only showing 3 icons across, and larger icons. Stock ROM, it was originally 4 icons across, with slightly smaller icons just earlier today (with 3 icons across in landscape). The only thing that really changed, was that I installed Advanced Config 3.3 and played with some of the cache settings. There doesn't seem to be any setting for the icon sizes. But seeing as this is the only thing that changed, I tried the Advanced Config menu choice "Restore all settings" and uninstalled the program. After soft reset, still only showing 3 icons across.
Anybody seen this happen, and know how to change it back to 4 icons across in portrait? I would prefer to see more programs on the page, without having to scroll down.
For that matter, I didn't like how it switched to 3 icons across in landscape. So I would change that to 4 across also, if possible.
I did some searching on this website and on Google, and didn't come across a fix.
Got it. Took more searching around, found the right cab in the thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=573947
RRE 4 Per Row.cab gives 4 icons across in portrait, and 5 in landscape. Just what I was looking for!

So I let my son (about 18 months) play with my tilt 2 for a few seconds, and when I grabed it I saw that the clock on the main screen changed to an analog style, rather than the default style. I've checked all the settings I could think of and I can't find anything that manages this. I'm using a custom ROM, Cell Pro. Does anyone know where to change this setting?
Do you have CHT on it? If so, you can use the CHT editor to change it back

Try swiping down on the home screen to restore the default clock.
Don't the Cell Pro ROMs have this unique theme-/clock-switching app that changes the appearance of the clock?
And, yes, if it has Co0kie's Home Tab Mod built-in: Home Tab > Menu > Edit Home Layout > (choose whatever "level" you're in) > Advanced > Clock: (choose the clock you had before).
Thanks for the advice, but it has not worked. I tried to install the Co0kies tab, but no new options showed up. The home menu only has a Phone and Camera option. I just did a hard reset and now it's back. Thank for the responses!
As per title. I rooted my dhd a couple of weeks ago and installed cyanogenmod. It's great, although there were a few things I missed about sense. The camera app, the people widget, the high quality profile pictures pulled from facebook for my contacts, and the phone app. But cyanogen pulled a surprise on me by allowing me to move my status bar to the bottom. The cover I have for my phone has a strip that runs along the top of my screen that makes it hard to grab the status bar, so having it on the bottom is great. But the one thing I miss most from sense is being able to zoom mobile web pages. I downloaded and flashed honey sense last night, and while the new lock screen is lovely, all I want is a rom that lets me zoom mobile websites, and move my status bar to the bottom. Any ideas?
Any of the Sense ROMs should alow you to zoom and automatically resize web pages.
As for the Notifications bar, you can use Menu -> Notifications
I know I can click menu/notifications but that doesn't work unless I'm on a homescreen. All the sense roms I've tried have allowed me to zoom, what I was looking for is something that has sense so I can have the zoom functionality on mobile web pages, but has the option to move the status bar to the bottom like cyanogen.
None that I know of.
One of the earlier CoreDroid ROMs did have 360 roatable Rosie on all screens, including Home (5.3 I think).
But I have not come across any that let you to move the notifiaction bar, sorry.
I convinced my dad to get a waterproof smartphone for the free wifi calling.
Its his first smartphone and he wants me to lock down the phone so he doesnt mess anything up. Hes quite talented that way.
This thread says some of the roms dont have tmobile uma wifi calling
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931972&page=3
I dont have the post count for that forum.
In new to android and dont know which rom to use? Motorblur has to go lol.
Phone has a red lens.
He doesnt have a data plan only wifi. He will mostly use wifi for calling but might read email and check weather once in a while but wont be surfing the web or playing games or anything.
If i could i would like a launcher with a single home screen with only about 10 apps and they would be locked from moving. There would be a largish call dock icon on the bottom and a clock widget near the top. The notification bar would have the date and a longer battery icon.
While on the home screen, the menu button would turn a flashlight on and off and the search button would launch the music player. Hitting the home button five times and entering a password would bring up the list of all the installed apps so i could go to the settings or market etc to change things.
The notification bar woud have slightly bigger icon and when swiped down would also show wifi and bluetooth controls like on my moms samsung galaxy. Also liker hers the lock screen would change to the puzzle piece swipe when theres a new message.
Get a custom launcher like Go Launcher EX and hide all the apps you dont want to use from the launcher
Stuff like browser I is a bad idea to remove, just hide the icon to launch it.
For WiFi intensive, I'd suggest going with a stock Blurless Froyo, since CM7 could have some issues when using WiFi.
Adw ex has an option to lock the homescreen so nothing moves. You can set it to be one page and lock it.
Sent from my MOTWX435KT using XDA App
adw launcher works pretty good! I was able to remove all but the one main desktop screen and then lock it. Had to set desktop overshoot to 0 to stop screen from bouncing when flicked.
Where would i ask for the following requests.
-Wider dock bar icons. having 3 or 5 dialer icons on the dock looks crappy lol.
-taller dock bar icon.
-menu button turns a flashlight app on and off
-search button launches a music player app
-home button works normally and goes home, if pressed 30 times in a row then brings up menu for me to get to settings/wallpaper/unlock/app drawer.
I am not sure on ADW EX but Go Launcher EX have the option of changing the dock background. Just use a picture with just 2 or 3 icons as back ground and use transparent icons. I set this way to mimic original DEFY launcher home with just Phone and Contacts in the dock bar. Attached the files here. Got it from here only but forgot the original post.
*** Note sure if I have explained it properly here
Try Launcher 7. You can lock the screen so icons can't be moved, and hide the rest from the app list. MIUI it's simple and easy to use, was great for my wife to learn Android, CM7 can get kind of confusing for some people.
Swyped from my MIUI 1.9.23 Defy
Angelus47 I dont like launcher 7 cant put enough icons/tiles on one screen.
Does MIUI have tmobile wifi calling app?
pprakash Is it better to have button image on the dock background and transparent icons over or is it better to cut the button image across several icon sized wide pieces.
In adw launcher the dock background is set by the theme. Im not sure how to create a theme. On the other hand if i didnt scale the split icons pieces to the right size there would be gaps between them I think.
Right now i have one visual voicemail on the left, one messaging on the right and three dialers in the middle.
perhaps i could find where the images for themes are stored and replace the dock backround image for the default theme.

With Go Launcher EX I find having the single image as background provided slightly bigger images rather than using individual icons. But I have attached individual icons as well here hopefully it helps you ..
I have configured a bottom navigation bar using UCCW to get to different home screen pages by clicking the screen number on the said bar.
Each screen number has a box with a fixed width and a hotspot assigned to the same box width to take me to the desired screen.
I use Nova launcher.
Everything was working fine when I added the widget to the first home screen page and I was able to navigate to all of my screens.
I then proceeded to make 4 copies of the same widget and added them to each of my screens.
That is when I noticed that the hotspots were not all working as expected.
Only on one screen they seemed to work properly; on the rest there was something wrong - ex: no action when clicking on the screen number or being taken to the wrong screen.
I tried removing all widgets and creating separate skins for each screen and then putting them back on - but the result is the same.
Only the screen where everything used to work changed.
Anyone got any ideas? Am I missing something basic here?
Thanks in advance for any pointers.
Hi - I just set up a new S9 (AT&T). I installed my apps and went through some out of the box software updates so its now running 8.0.
Last night I noticed that when on my homescreen my Status Bar is now gone. It comes back if I open an app or go into the Apps drawer, but I cant see it from any page on my homescreen.
I can still swipe down from the top of the screen to get to the settings shortcuts, but I cant see Notifications, Battery, Signal, etc from any homescreen pages.
Its actually making me crazy - was hoping someone might have some thoughts on how to remedy this?
Thanks.
Hi after trying all morning I finally solved this - I found a lot of other posts outside XDA struggling with this issue so just wanted to update in case anyone else is having this problem.
I was using a picture as my wallpaper. For some reason this was making the bar invisible (or somehow the color changes to blend in to the background completely?). I changed to a Samsung stock wallpaper and it was visible again. I then changed back to set my picture as the wallpaper, and now the status bar is still visible...
Whatever - dont know why, but it worked!
