I was about to get Mi A1 when I found out about Honor 7X... I always wanted a budget device with Project Treble and was really disappointed to find Mi A1 (which was My only hope in 2017) doesn't have Treble support even after Oreo update... I read that with Oreo, Honor 7X will have Project Treble support and Im super Excited about it... I have a few doubts... Even though it has been answer, I just want to be sure...
1. Will there be Treble for sure in Oreo (since its a Budget Phone and not a flagship like Mate 9 or 8 Pro)???
2. Is it for sure that it has a separate Vendor Partition which is necessary for Project Treble (There are methods to verify it and has anyone done verification)???
3. Will there be Good Development here as I Love trying something new and flashing new ROMs all the time (Im using Redmi 3S and it has Wonderful Custom ROM development with very active Developers and Im concerned I read complaints that Honor 6X had very less development)???
4. With Project Treble out, will ROMs created for Snapdragon devices with Treble work fine with Kirin powered Honor 7X (Since I have read only about ROMs developed for Kirin devices only working in Treble enabled Honor Devices, sorry if Im wrong as I didn't do intensive research)???

1. Yes there will be project treble when oreo is out
2. Yes one of the reason for treble to work is to have the seperate partition and it does thats the reason treble will work
3. No one can tell u this yet, but since Huawei is spreading its honor 7x all around the world more and team openkirin has the device so theres a better chance to have good development soon..
4. Why would there be a mix and match of roms? There are roms already available for our device but we are still skeptical if they would work so we havent tried them yet since it depends on the kirin processor number which matches with almost all the other devices having good development.. So they should work on 7x as well but again, we are not sure so nobody has tried it yet..
Good luck for you to chose your phone!
Treble should come (95% it will), because all Honor devices that got updated to Oreo (Beta or official) have Treble support
Since Huawei makes their own SoCs, porting Treble should be fairly easy. That, combined with the fact that they have ported Treble to even older phones (like the Mate 9), makes me fairly certain that yes, they WILL be porting Treble, and I would be genuinely surprised if they did not. Also, the fact that Treble separates the "low level" code, it shouldn't matter too much whether or not there are not many developers for this specific phone, as a OS developer (Like Lineage OS, Paranoid Android, and the like), can make a single flashable system.img for any Treble device! Thus, if somebody makes a ROM for the Pixel 2, it can run on any other Treble device, and this has even been proven with the Mate 9, running a clean generic AOSP ROM. Personally, I think it would be interesting to see Android GO ported to these midrange devices to see how fast they can be (and running, potentially, other non Android operating systems like Ubuntu, Sailfish OS, and others).

when are we getting Andriod 9 Pie GSI for honor 7x .
As we know all the snapdragon SoC got the ported gsi image of DP5 why are we lagging so much behind . Now the source code of Aosp is out .i hope our team have started the work on honor 7x port . Very much exicted .
Next year hopefully

The problem is 9 needs a 8.1 vendor partition, honor 7x emui is a 8.0 vendor partition and not directly compatible.
Might have to wait for a official update to before a port can be done.
It's not about the chipset it's about the vendor

so if i get this right official stock roms now (thanks to Treble) are going to be built just like custom roms ... based off an already existing firmware and just updating the partitions that needs to be updated instead of rewriting the whole rom and almost all partitions from scratch ... well that makes building a stock om easier ... faster and lighter in size not to talk about custom roms .... but will probably also kill rom ports

Something like that, Google wants end users to get latest updates & security patches without the need for all the various vendors to tweak it for their custom layer.
Things like vendor camera & sound apps will get ported - Sony sound & Huawei camera for example.
Custom ROMs might become more mainstream, easier to install even official options given by vendors.
Right now we're in the transition phase, so still some snags along the way.

The honor v20 supports treble however honor hasn't enabled it.
And emui 9.1 is in beta stage not magic UI 2.1 (skin of emui 9.1 which is what the honor view 20 is set to get in may)

From where did you get it?
All devices launched with Oreo should support treble or else they won't get certified by Google. V20 supports treble.

I phrased it wrong.
The honor view 20 does support treble however it doesn't support treble ROMs as well as seamless updates.

Seamless updates are not much a issue. For that you need two partitions A and B which implies more ROM space is reserved for system . Only a few devices have A/B partition.
Supporting treble and being able to flash treble compatible ROMs are completely different things.. If you want to flash a treble ROM or GSI (or any custom ROM) you need to have an unlocked bootloader.. Which is officially not possible now.
You could flash a treble ROM which was signed by Honor.. But there are none which I am aware off..
I am looking to buy a new phone. My options right now are Redmi Note 10 pro and Moto G60
I want a stock android phone but am also looking at installing custom ROMs after the warranty date. Redmi Note 10 pro has extensive ROM support. So, once the kernel source code for this phone is released how good do you think the ROM development for tis will be?
I don't know the technical terms
I am new to this stuff
A dev said
Moto devices under sm6150, already have great rom development
Moto g40 and g60 also come under the same
So, 50%of the rom work is already done
Developers only need to tweak some settings here and there and release the rom
But as of now, HANOIP is facing Bootloader unlock issue, Moto said they are gonna fix it soon via an update
So, we can easily expect development but a little later, cause moto community is very small
Btw LIBER has already received A11 official P.E
I asked one of the developers. They said it might be slow coz this phone already runs on stock android
Yeah, it runs a stable A11 out of the box
So we don't need A11 custom rom
And It would receive A12 as well
So, we are saved for 2 years
Even if the development is slow
We can adjust as we have options ,unlike other meme devices
Hi. What you think can we have some custom rom in the future?
The recovery tools for OnePlus have not been publicly available since the OnePlus 9 series, so development is going to be limited. If you search the forum, there are a few people working on a custom ROM but it's unknown what level of success will be had.
So far, the current options include a GSI which is generic, and doesn't include many device specific drivers, so not all features will work. The other option is rooting and using a Magisk ROM which can make OxygenOS look more like a Pixel ROM and boost customization. Both of these options require an unlocked bootloader.

Yes it will happen, I hope in a few weeks. We're working on it. We did the LineageOS device trees, and kernel is compiling but it's still missing a few modules that make it non-bootable. For my part, I'm very determined, and will make it happen at all costs.
I'm still using my OnePlus 8 Pro daily despite having received my OnePlus 11 Pro. I absolutely LOVE the 11 hardware-wise (the fact it's a Marble Odyssey I imported from India to France helps) but I can't withstand Oppo's OxygenOS.
I'd really like more devs to join to make it happen.
Regarding MSMTools, I haven't tried to hack it, but as an experienced network hacker, I should have a look to it as I've recently learnt it's using auth now.

Good morning ,
I come to you because I currently have a xiaomi 11t and I would like to install a custom rom on it but I cannot find a compatible rom for the 11t I find that for the 11t pro
Cordially

No or few development for Xiaomi with Mediatek processors.
Alternative
Project Treble
The Android 8.0 release includes Project Treble, a major re-architect of the Android OS framework designed to make it easier, faster, and less costly for manufacturers to update devices to a new version of Android. Treble is for all new devices launching with Android 8.0 and beyond.

Yep, avoid buying soc MediaTek devices.
Custom rom MIUI better than stocks with for example the call recorder and other features absent on stock roms.
