The honor v20 supports treble however honor hasn't enabled it.
And emui 9.1 is in beta stage not magic UI 2.1 (skin of emui 9.1 which is what the honor view 20 is set to get in may)

From where did you get it?
All devices launched with Oreo should support treble or else they won't get certified by Google. V20 supports treble.

I phrased it wrong.
The honor view 20 does support treble however it doesn't support treble ROMs as well as seamless updates.

Seamless updates are not much a issue. For that you need two partitions A and B which implies more ROM space is reserved for system . Only a few devices have A/B partition.
Supporting treble and being able to flash treble compatible ROMs are completely different things.. If you want to flash a treble ROM or GSI (or any custom ROM) you need to have an unlocked bootloader.. Which is officially not possible now.
You could flash a treble ROM which was signed by Honor.. But there are none which I am aware off..

We all don't know yet, all we know is that we're going to get an update to Android O.

Android oreo comes in as an update and we get treble but the question still remains if we have more developers to backup this device for updates.. Cz with devs more active here with device.. Then anything is possible..

dont worry, the H7X is backed by OpenKirin.
My guess on treble - 95% sure it comes to BND aswell

Hi, anyone heard anything about Android P beta for MI6 ? Would it be provided as a custom rom before (if) it's available from Xiaomi?
cheers!

Yea probably. I asked because it's officialy available for Xiaomi MI Mix 2s --> not sure as how the Xiaomi ecosystem works - these might be compatible ? https://developer.android.com/preview/devices/
cheers!

Probably Mix2S is Treble enabled by default?
I hope that someone will port the mi2s's beta to our mi6!
I'm starting to feel backward...

Mix 2s has treble so they just used the generic system image of P which had been out for a while.
Basically nothing special for a treble device.
It doesn't seem to boot on our treble port from Nils or Verevka so idk what's different about it.
Eh.
We will probably get LOS P in the future but for now we only just got Oreo and P is way off being a full release.

Having closely watched the LOS development for a year, I think it's gonna take a while for LOS in P to be as stable as current LOS in Oreo. And regression bug can still keep coming, regardless how mature it is.
Hi All,
thanks for your replies and input into this thread. I appreciate it, and hope, we will get some Android P
have a nice day!
Mi Mix2s Android P Beta is not a GSI. It's a specific image for that system. If it was a GSI then would we able to use it already on our Mi6.

I wan't all the goodies available when it comes to the google assistant, my take is, the new assistant features like calling a hair salon will be available on P first.
I also like the suble changes in design that come with each iteration of android.

Don't use firmware!
1. Install rom.
2. Format data.
3. Enjoy!
In that order!
Now that the 5t has official trebel support could it be possible for the .img of the P Beta from the 6 to be ported to the 5t with little effort? Maybe be even possible to boot without any kind of modifications if it's like a GSI.

Don't think so. It will most likely have Treble with a-only partition.
Hopefully not.

Why's that? A/B partitioning has many benefits

Well it may have some benefits for OEMs that try to update their phones as soon as a new android version releases, like OnePlus or Samsung, but it doesn't really have a lot of benefits for Companys like Xiaomi, which have a lot of devices that have to be updated because of the long support cicles, and Xiaomi is focusing more on MIUI anyway. That's why Xiaomi android version updates always take longer than other OEMs.
That's the OEM side - on the custom rom side flashing a-only Treble ROMs is just easier

But the LOS team has said A/B partitions has made it easier for the devs once they learned how to develop for it. Plus how would A/B affect the OEM? They can release A/B updates for supported phones and A partition only updates for phones that don't support them. It's in fact more advantageous for a company like Xiaomi who release a large number of updates to adopt A/B in the future as they can be sure a bad update won't brick the device like what happened with the recent anti rollback protection fiasco

Nope Nitrogen doesn't support A/B partition.
LOS has (or is working on) own recovery with native support a/b for LOS's OTA needs.

That's only for devices which natively support A/B. Devices which have only A partition should use TWRP
does mi max 3 A only? or a/b?
to download img which choise?
Now it does...
As of most recent CHN beta FWs, the Mmx3 is being converted from SAR A-only, to A/B non SAR.
Latest China beta is system as root (sar), a layout that was initially used for a/b. But there is still no b slot in mi max 3.
when are we getting Andriod 9 Pie GSI for honor 7x .
As we know all the snapdragon SoC got the ported gsi image of DP5 why are we lagging so much behind . Now the source code of Aosp is out .i hope our team have started the work on honor 7x port . Very much exicted .
Next year hopefully

The problem is 9 needs a 8.1 vendor partition, honor 7x emui is a 8.0 vendor partition and not directly compatible.
Might have to wait for a official update to before a port can be done.
It's not about the chipset it's about the vendor

so if i get this right official stock roms now (thanks to Treble) are going to be built just like custom roms ... based off an already existing firmware and just updating the partitions that needs to be updated instead of rewriting the whole rom and almost all partitions from scratch ... well that makes building a stock om easier ... faster and lighter in size not to talk about custom roms .... but will probably also kill rom ports

Something like that, Google wants end users to get latest updates & security patches without the need for all the various vendors to tweak it for their custom layer.
Things like vendor camera & sound apps will get ported - Sony sound & Huawei camera for example.
Custom ROMs might become more mainstream, easier to install even official options given by vendors.
Right now we're in the transition phase, so still some snags along the way.
