I have tried several popular themes and they all work great, but the Google keyboard never gets themed on any of them.
Is there a specific setting I'm missing ?
You can theme Gboard with backgrounds in the app already. Not as much as Swiftkey but still.

Know Issues
Keyboards may not appear themed or may look discolored or distorted if you are using a theme that also themes the keyboard. Some Theme Chooser themes such as Crimson Cobalt, color the keyboards as well and can cause problems.
These keyboards may not work on phones that have Google Keyboard pre-installed and ARE NOT rooted. If this is you and you dont understand, send me a PM and I will explain.
ENJOY!!

Hi, i have ocd with white system ui and would like to change it to dark mode. As our device is currently on 8.0 that means there is no system support builtin for theming.
I know zenui offers its own theming but lets be serious here , changing wallpaper and icons is not called theming.
Here in this thread i would like to know if anybody has tried andromeda support for rootless substratum theming on zenfone 5z. If yes, then how it works. Also would like to know if it would be bad option to go this way. Any other theming method suggestions are also welcome.
In past root had been my daily friend so i had no struggle with theming. Hope, that will be true here. Just waiting for development to settle.
Update : Ok so i went ahead and purchased andromeda for rootless substratum.
So far i have tried swift dark theme. I was able to theme most of the google apps but no success with system ui. I believe that it a drawback from asus that zenui is not OMS ready.
I will try bunch off other themes and see where i can get.
I did the same thing 2 days ago with the same results. Sucks. I also paid an tried another theme, same results, it's was Sai's Oreo dark. The Swift dark theme also crashed my Outlook from opening and affected other apps negatively as well.
Please let me know if you find one that changes the system UI a well!!!!
I am not sure about the system UI but I can get the Settings page to go dark using 'Dirty Dark' from Playstore. You guys can try that. Andromeda and substratum works fine for me. I also have swift black. It does the heavy lifting for me. I miss AOSP. I just don't see myself liking the zenUI. It lacks A little elegance for my taste.
Attaching a screenshot of the settings page.
Hey guys, I really love dark themes but it's really hard to find one that you like. So here Im sharing my personal favorite setup of a dark theme for the stock emui users.
If you are on a rom try out omni rom as it has cool themes.
So for the theme use 'Line-Art EMUI 8/5 theme' from playstore.
But the icons that come with it aren't that good so I use 'UX S9 Black Amoled Icon Pack' from playstore. Use a custom launcher like nova launcher to use the icon pack.
I used to use Gboard but I found out that the SwiftKey Keyboard that comes pre-installed has a cool dark theme so I switched.
For the wallpaper I'll link it below or use some other one that matches.
Check the screenshots, it's really good.
You can find the wallpaper here

Cool
Does Huawei EMUI have any theme installer like Swift installer for Samsung that can apply a 'black' background to apps like Google home, calendar, etc...?
Just got my L29 Mate 20 X so very excited to set everything up like my Note 9!
Any help is appreciated.
Well, you have "darken the interface colors" under the battery settings. This generally turns all your colors to black, even Huawei apps. But not Google apps. You have no tool to make them dark for now. You had substratum before (till Android pie) and I used it but Google killed it with P.
It's not all that bad. It looks like Google is slightly returning black mode to it's apps itself. I already use dark messages and dark dialer and I use dark email instead of Gmail till Google implement the dark option too. It's not all but it's a lot. And I believe that more is coming with the next Android.
Substratum still works after pie

Has anyone been able to get swift installer working?
I really miss my all blacked out theme
Thanks!!
As far as I know, none of the Swift themes are compatible with Android 12. In fact, I'm not even sure if it's compatible with Android 11.
There are a few Substratum themes compatile with Android 12 that might give you a similar effect.
