Formating data does not help, i'm thinking that by removing encryption there should be some speed improvement but want to test this for myself

I tested this on my OP5 and I did not see any noticeable difference. Since the 5T has the same specs, I'm pretty sure the results will be the same.
Personally, I don't think it's worth the hassle, especially because once ROMs start coming out, they will ask you to be encrypted anyway
Removing encryption used to allow the phone to perform better but that is no longer the case with the high end phones. Removing encryption is not going to provide any better performance and really compromises your data.
i believe disabling encryption, if not makes phone faster, at least makes battery time longer.

No its not true.
Decrypting doesn't do anything as far as battery or performance. Maybe a little performance in the old days but definitely not anymore. You notice zero difference. If u do format internal to keep it decrypted u have to flash no verity and a kernel that doesn't force encrypt. These r the correct steps

If I want to encrypt back how do I get it back on oneplus 5t.
Hi there I decrypted my 5t ,running Oreo Stock beta1, and performance but more battery life inproved
I wiped flashed beta1, formated data, reboot recovery, flashed magisk beta and no verity encryption v2 (https://www.google.de/amp/s/forum.x...-how-to-decrypt-data-partition-t3642144/amp/l
After booting I have strong impression performance is better, but for sure battery life..

I've compared the two, there is no gain in battery life or performance of read/write speeds. Sorry, but this may be placebo effect.

Hi there how did you measure this ,
Sorry but this doesn't sound logical, after all System has to de- and encrypt Data this can't be done without resources, meaning CPU and power, bits just physics, but I
Agree this might be not much relevant on this high end devices
, As in the older ones

i've partitioned the card and stuff, am S-Off and on mildwild, i wanted to ask that does removing the battery corrupt apps? i was running vj's 4.1.2 rom and when i removed the battery and reinsterted it, it caused all the apps to malfunction, they were kinda greyed out, what's the theory of this?
Hard to know the exact 'theory', also depends on what you were doing when you removed the battery. Things just get corrupted sometimes, was it all your user apps?
On your previous thread you stated you used gparted to partition the sd card, so this shouldnt have caused any issues as long it was just a FAT32 and ext4 partition, no swap.
Anyway, try not to remove the battery unless there's no other option..
Probably wrong installation caused a misunderstanding between the phisical memory and mounting point for the OS. Another possibility is that the OS change, by a fail, the name of the SD card.
Try to no retire the battery unless it's completely necessary

thank you guys, yes, i partitioned using 4ext this time, and i had to remove the battery to change my sim card, it corrupted all the apps, the ones which i installed myself like outlook, whatsapp and stuff, the ones in the phone's system were ok

As in you pulled the battery while the phone was on, just to change SIM?
Next time power off the phone properly before you do this (hold down power, select power off). If you did that probably wouldn't have caused any issues..

Thanks for replying dude...I did turn off the phone before removing the sim card. I think it's just a faulty rom... can you suggest me a stable, fast daily driver ics rom? Tired of being on gingerbread now... need a fast and smooth ics rom that is stable, ics everything working and can be used as a daily driver

Not sure you can conclude it was definitely the ROM unless lots of other people have the same issue on reboot, but still does sound strange.
Never used an ICS ROM myself, though I don't think it ever reached fully 'stable' as development shifted more towards JB. People still swear by whichever ROM they settle on to be honest: what is "fast, stable, smooth, daily driver" requirements differ between people.
I'm still on GB ROM personally. Don't think all JB ROMs will have the same problem as you, and like I said may not have been due to your ROM. Read a few of the threads and try a few, is always the best way to find out yourself. Sorry can't give actual experience.

Hi.
I've played around with a few ROMs in the dev section, and everything has been fine.
But lately, I have noticed a strange behavior: both my CPUs are locked at 100%.
So basically, it's always laggy, and the battery life is really poor.
I've tried to restore nandroid, or change ROM, change kernel, even to go back to true stock with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459734 but nothing. My CPUs are still at 100%
I also tried emptying the battery totally, but the problem is still here.
Here some infos from CPUz : http://valid.canardpc.com/a/1gnijk
Do you think it is hardware ?
Thank you for your help!

Yes, practically all of them. Even the stock one :/
I did proper wipe too (/system, /data, /cache, dalvik ...)
Hi
I changed my previous file system in data and cache ext4 into f2fs. I still get the same writing-reading speed as previously file system. I have 3/64 mi5s
As far as I know both the kernel and ROM have to support f2fs for you to get benefit of f2fs, even then the performance improvement is not that noticeable, take a look at https://www.xda-developers.com/f2fs-put-to-the-test-against-ext4/

I got it. How can I revert it without losing data then? Would staying with f2fs do any harm? Thanks for your efforts. And can I backup my data with titanium after reverting it

F2fs wont do any harm, it will do you good as it reduces the amount writes your phone does in the long term which actually increases the lifespan of the storage device. Also your read speeds seem really slow. Here are my results with f2fs

You will be fine, f2fs is there mostly to take advantage of flash storage by writing it how it should be written. Like making all area of the flash storage used evenly. Speed will be mostly restricted to the hardware itself.

Agree with this guy, it will prolong lifespan but speed increase is not its main advantage for now, it's still early in its development.
Here is mine, 128/4 model on Resurrection Remix Ext4, it is.. Compared to you both, Kind of slow I guess. Not sure where to start looking.
What's the best way to switch from PureNexus to Android O? Download the factory image, then run the flash-all.bat file? Is there anyway to do this without losing user data or is that the best way for optimal battery & performance?

To do it right, then you would wipe EVERYTHING via TWERP.
Including user data /sdcard.
Then do the flash-all.
Anything else is just asking for trouble, IMO.
It might work, but then you may end up with little issues here and there.
If you do it without wiping user data then remove the -w from the flash-all.bat before running it. I recommend backing up apps via TB though and do things right by wiping the everythingsssss.
Then root and restore apps via TB.

Yeah I was just reading the sticky post about this update. Strongly recommends doing a full wipe. Now I'm trying to decide if I should jump from PN to O haha. How is the battery on O? A huge improvement over (P)N?

Heck if I know.
Oreo is useless to me until Xposed supports it and Resurrection Remix has a ROM for it.

You can try but it's not recommended because there *might* be issues.
For me battery life is better on O than PN. GPS high accuracy , sync always on auto brightness Sot now 3,20h 41%battery left. Full wipe stock october rooted Su, EX kernel latest.
I understand the reasoning behind wiping system, data and cache in twrp when coming to a new rom...but what's the positive to wiping the sdcard?

Who's your cell provider? On O, I was constantly having issues with GPS accuracy being garbage and my cell reception was far worse (on T-Mobile). For example, my wife has a Pixel running Nougat, mine was running Oreo, and when we went on vacation my phone was always roaming or getting no service while she was getting LTE coverage (she is also on T-Mobile). I reloaded Nougat on my phone and we're heading back to the same area this weekend so I'm curious to see if my problem was soft/firmware related or if there's an issue with my phone.

sdcard or do you mean internal? It's not necessary to wipe internal when upgrading from N to O other than it'll clean all the unnecessary garbage from the phone. However, if you're downgrading from O back to N it is necessary. I tried downgrading from stock O to stock N with wiping and my phone was stuck on the boot animation screen until I decided to wipe everything.
Hi, i am using Ice.net Norway my signal is perfect always 4-5 bars. My wife's S7 is 2-3 bars on same network.
Thinking of a full reset to see if battery life and speed improve. Haven't done this maybe ever on this phone since release.
Currently: Rooted with stock Recovery but might install TWRP seeing as it's available now. Stock latest Android P image. All apps and data backed up with Titanium Backup. All data (pics, etc.,) backed up to PC folder.
Should I just install TWRP and wipe data and cache partitions and start copying data back over/restoring apps?
Anything else I should wipe?
Maybe it would be better to reflash the latest Factory Image and keep the "-w" to wipe data?
What if I just reflash the latest Factory Image and don't wipe? This would save a lot of time. Think this might help?
The phone isn't that slow and I get about 5 hrs SOT time. I just replaced the battery too. I thought it might be higher.
Can anyone provide any thoughts on this please? This would be hours of wasted time if it didn't work.
5 hours SOT is probably quite good. You may be able to get more if you use the ex kernel and underclock your CPU. I did find in the past that Oreo could get some more SOT than Pie and Q for that matter. I guess what I'm saying is not too expect too much more than what you're currently getting.

Thanks man. I think you are right. Maybe I will go with EX. I used to use it on my 5X. I do think Oreo was better too as you stated. But it's kinda hard to go back, mentally.
