Hi.
I've played around with a few ROMs in the dev section, and everything has been fine.
But lately, I have noticed a strange behavior: both my CPUs are locked at 100%.
So basically, it's always laggy, and the battery life is really poor.
I've tried to restore nandroid, or change ROM, change kernel, even to go back to true stock with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459734 but nothing. My CPUs are still at 100%
I also tried emptying the battery totally, but the problem is still here.
Here some infos from CPUz : http://valid.canardpc.com/a/1gnijk
Do you think it is hardware ?
Thank you for your help!

Yes, practically all of them. Even the stock one :/
I did proper wipe too (/system, /data, /cache, dalvik ...)
Related
I have rooted HTC evo. Using sprintlovers rom
I just installed netarchy kernel on my p hone and I accidentally overclocked too far and my phone froze. I waited and tried pressing the buttons etc but eventually had to pull the battery.
Now it says for many apps that "linked program is no longer installed on your phone"
I backed up everything just before this happened with AMON RA or whatever its called. What is the best route of action for me to recover from this? Just reinstall my apps or should I use a recovery option?
MY RSA key is still present which is good..
I guess I shouldn't have messed with the overclocking lol
If you just restore your latest backup, you'll be okay, or restore apps from titanium. Also, anything over 1.2 GHz, will make your phone spazz.

Restoring now. Will this also restore my stock kernel or will I remain on netarchy.
OOPS just realized I forgot to clear my cache and dalvik before restoring.. hope it will be alright. Is that very bad? I guess I got excited...
E: Error in CACHE:recovery/log (No space left on device) is an error I got but says restore is complete. It actually said that like 4 times .
any input?

Why thank you
And it'll restore whatever kernel you had when on the backup at that time, so I will say the netarchy kernel, also you don't need to clear your cache when restoring, cuz the restoration puts it back to what it was at that time. I never wipe when restoring and never had a problem.
Edit: apparently you didn't have enough storage to complete the cache, but try booting up and see what happens.

Eh I already went ahead and wiped both and re-restored so now its restoring again. I didn't figure it would hurt to be on the safe side. Thanks a lot for your help this stuff makes me nervous its my first time doing it but I'm getting accustomed to it.

Wow, Okay my phone is perfect again. Also I did a setCPU benchmark and its much better on the stock kernel.
Short bench on netarchy was around 500ms, long around 700ms
On the stock kernel i have
Short bench - 230ish ms consistently and long is 370ish ms consistently
What gives? I tried all different clock speeds on netarchy/toast kernel and it was much worse?
Also my phone is smoother with stock kernel by a lot I think I'll leave it be.
Any explanation for this? I'm stumped but pumped its so easy to go back to everything being perfect!

Personally, you don't need to worry about bench marks, just of how it actually performs. And every phone is different, in that it'll take to kernels differently. So if you had better performance on the other kernel, then that's the one you need to be on.

Yeah the stock kernel was much smoother and all around faster, I really wanted the full HDMI feature of that netarchy kernel though.
Just to follow up on this. I reflashed the kernel and it worked great.
Apps that disappear I got to come back with a cache/dalvik cache wipe.
Hi, I need some help with that, because i'm up of this...
At first, sorry for my level of english
A while ago i flashed a new rom, with a new radio, and a new kernel. When i'm using it everything is OK, but after a continous use, the Desire HD start getting hot some processes stop (everything about Google, or htc.com.phone, htc.com.messages ...) Its very annoing, i have to unplug the battery, wait for a while, and start again.
Can this be related with the radio i have installed? its the last option I know. I flashed a lot of different roms withouth success (Cyanogen, LeeDroid, KingDroid...)
Thank you
Have you overclocked it?

Not I think, some roms install setCPU, but its up to 1024 Mhz.
At the beggining, i used to set the speed auto between 240 - 768 Mhz to save battery. When i saw it was wrong, i choose the normal option, 1024 Mhz, and now, for example, with the LeeDroid mod, i dont have installed any overclock program
It sounds like a hardware fault... Did this happen with stock ROM also? Also, check the temperature(there are a few apps that can do this, I use temp+cpu pro, but you can try and find a free one) at which these anomalies occur, and paste them here...

Okay, i will try some apps about temperature, and setcpu with the stress test and see what happen... i think it starts when i tried to flash a radio with rom + kernel.
May be restoring the whole phone to his original brands may be solve the problem.
If this is happening with different roms, your best bet would be restoring it to factory settings(unroot, s-on, etc, you'll find guides here how to do all that), if problem persists, send it for repair...
Hi, Now i provoke it to get warm the Desire HD.
Its about 38 degrees, but when I try now to make any benchmark with the setCPU, the program stops. All google apps now stops too, and the option I have its wait to get cold.
The setCPU frequenzy is between 245Mhz-1036Mhz, so its not overclocked.
Hmmm when did you said where could I find one manual to restore the whole phone to default?
38 degrees is not that hot as far as I know, maybe there's another issue, not overheating, but flash stock ROM, just to see what will happen...
Start with this, it really depends what did you do to your phone(radio s-off/eng s-off), but just follow these few links from the thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
Thank you, i gonna try to restore everything. Hope that works... thank you !!
No problem, report back once you fix it, I'm curious about what was happening...

RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.3_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.15_M3_release_155032_signed
(Europe Version)
So that means that the Radio, Kernel, Rom and Firmware are now default?
Sorry for being ignorant Now I install Visionary to install CWM
So finally I flahsed RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.3_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26 .03.02.15_M3_release_155032_signed
Super CID: 1111111
S-On
...
S- Off
Eng- Off
Via Bootloader, I made "Factory reset"
S- Off (again)
Eng- off (again)
And I'm installing LeeDroid HD 3.3.3
I just have one question: The Radio and the Kernel is the standard or the LeeDroid related, is it?
Thank you !!
Leedroid will install his own kernal. This is not causing a problem.
I cant see how it could be the radio either.
If problem persists then it will be hardware fault. Restore to stock send for repair.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
It continues not working. Today, while it was charging, all programs suddenly stops again :\
This time I had luck, because I could open setCPU and when i did a stress test for a while, it report no errors. And I saw the battery temperature was 41ÂșC
I think may be is the battery, in 25 minutes the battery was charged about 50%, it's impossible because its too much. when its getting full, the charge is more slowly and the device is not so hot as at the beggining.
The device was restored to original brand new firmware, so I discard is something about software.
And hardware... its very difficul to show this problem to SAT, and i dont have the warranty paper filled, because I bought it to another person half a year ago
PD: I say its the battery because last month I used it as GPS and it was very very very hot because the sun. May be that affected the battery cells, if the hot affects the whole phone, i shoud have more problems, is it?
Hello guys,
Dunno if you are experiencing this, but i am having some problems with my nexus. After clean installing a rom, everything works perfectly smooth and fast, but after i install my usual apps and copy some music, the phone starts to be verry sluggish.
Is there any way i can get rid of that. This happens with allmost every rom and kernel combination out there. :silly:
Thanks

Also, set your processes max to 3 w/i your settings:developer options.
Allready tried that, and my rom still lags.
Curriously, on stock rom everything is ok

YMMV, I suppose, and everyone defines their interpretation of lag differently...but keeping your cache clean and minimizing the number of processes you have running @ any given time is the best approach to smooth sailing, regardless of stock or custom.
If running stock, disregard this next piece of advice, but if custom...up your minimum gov. on your kernel, and give it a go. You'll sacrifice a bit of battery life, but increase response time.
rebbot on recovery and clean cache and dalvik cache always works for me.
I recently just unlocked my bootloader, rooted my phone, and flashed a new kernel onto my Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi.
Ever since flashing the kernel, I realised the tablet does not charge more than 92-93% anymore, any idea how I can fix this issue, because I'm not sure if it gives me fewer SoT and battery life in general.

Did you Flash ElementalX or Glitch Kernel? Both the kernels have "Battery Life extender" option in which the battery charges till 93%!
Its Normal don't worry.. it will improve battery life though I don't use that option very often

That option isn't selected by default on installation of the kernel, and would've had to have been selected.. You would think someone would remember doing that

Lol! I know that option isn't selected by default. He must have selected! But he didn't knew the consequences of that
Flash the stock kernel to see if it's a hardware issue.

Hello guys,
Since I updated to 1.40.401.8, I flashed viper latest rom. The phone heats up on minimal usage, and oh the battery....ultra drain. I can barrly make it to the middle of the day.
Anyone having the same problem after the update?
I tried to flash it again, factory reset but no use. Any ideas to fix this or should I flash the old firmware?

Check over the apps you're restoring mate, keep the install clean, let it settle, set your CPU up right, install something to keep apps from starting up (auto starts) then see how the battery is, my guess is it'll be a lot better.
From that point just install the apps you need, followed by the ones you want.
Did you change up your firmware too? Obviously that should have been done but I thought I'd ask..
Hope this helps, seems obvious but its easily overlooked.

what do you mean by change up the firmware? if the firmware and the rom didnt match it will fall into a bootloop . I flashed the latest firmware and a new rom with the new base. I didn't install any different apps I only use several app which are whats app, appy geek, 9gag,tasker and twitter that's almost all the app and I ran more apps in the older firmware.
I have 30% now from only 6 hours and 30 min. there is a huge difference. I will try ARHD since its almost stock but I really love viper rom its full of customization
.
Anyway, thanks a lot m8, ill flash and new rom and ill update you guys.

I was under the impression that you could, some people had boot loops others didn't.
Leave all apps off, full wipe, then test.
If none of this works then I would try your luck in Viper thread.

Hey,
Its looks like an issue with viper rom, ARHD is way better, less heat and more battery for sure although I miss the customizations on the viper rom:crying:.
One thing I noticed, after flashing both roms I got the "android optimizing apps" for ARHD is was about 160 I think, while viper rom had like 240 -.-" There are a lot of things under that rom and i'm assuming they're causing the heat and battery drain.
ps. I always full wipe before flashing any rom
thanks

Just pick the ones you need mate, I know about viper, it is a little heavy but that's just to ensure that people get what they need.
As for a different base with a different firmware its definitely possible as I'm running the 1.40 ROM with the 1.32 firmware, no overheating and no problems.
Glad your back up and running. Try leedroid too, that's the ROM I'm currently running.
