Great news. I have V300L, I hope to get Oreo soon.
Nice, are there any UI changes? can you please set the default theme and post some screenshots? Would really appreciate that, thanks!

UI seems to be the same just the settings menu seems to change that's it.
Is V30 still lagging even on Oreo?

Nothing new posted a pic of the UI change which is only in the setting menu. It is very snappy though compare to 7.1.

All devices that launch with Android 8.0 Oreo or above must fully support Project Treble.
All devices that upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo are not required to fully support Project Treble.
Right now, with the way LG has implemented the security for the LG G6 and LG V30, it may be too hard to roll out Treble AND get a quick Oreo update.

Yes im fully aware of the upgrade policy, but you never know, if they decide to include it in the update, which may turn out not to be the case with most OEMs to avoid extra hassle.

I noticed that the LG V35, which apparently is just a rebranded LG V30+ launched in Japan last week with Oreo. So would that device support Project Treble and other versions not? Situation seems a bit confused.

The definition of "launch"is actually a bit fuzzy for the end-user, because it means the first google certification of the device.
The device could very well have been certified with Nougat, but released to the end-user only with Oreo.
It's sad that the V30 doesn't get Treble
Can you extract the Oreo ROM from your V30 and share?
The no treble support is kind of disheartening though.
Is the OMS theming engine from substratum present?

Yeah I mistakenly assumed treble support with Oreo.
I sent my V30 back to my carrier because I thought the radio was faulty, but more people in my area are reporting poor reception (I live in an area that has some of the best LTE coverage in the country). My plan was to get another V30, but now I'm not so sure. Popping ROMs on the phone myself is not a big deal and usually fun, but I'm wondering if it does anything to warranty and Android Pay support. Have to research that some more.

Considering how Lenovorola was sending out a Feb patch in the same month to the G5S+, I'm betting on this coming out mid to end of March and rolling out in about twelve days to all regions (based on the Jan update rollout)

Nice. But it would be much nicer if they would roll out Oreo. I was hoping they would do that in combination with the march security patch. But it seems we'll have to wait some more time.

Honestly, I don't see what the big fuss is about Oreo. We have it already by way of custom ROMs, and it's stable enough for daily use at this point. The only issue I've seen is that certain camera functions don't work properly without the proprietary firmware, so if you want to adjust ISO or shutter speed you have to use a stock rom. That's exactly what I'm doing, btw, and I have yet to see anything 8.1 has that makes it functionally Superior to 7.0 and aside from security patches, I'm unlikely to change anything about my rom because Oreo just doesn't "wow" me.

I am of your opinion that there is no big "wow" about Oreo. But it's an update Lenovo/Motorola promised to their users and under these circumstances something one has paid for.
About custom roms: I'm a big fan of custom roms and use them on my other devices. But as there is no Oreo source for the Moto G5+ imo there are still several problems with AOSP or Lineage based roms like users losing volte, IMEI or even mobile data when returning to stock after being on 8.1 custom roms and also the roms I've tested lack of stability and features beside the mentioned camera issues. No daily driver material for me.
That would not happen if the kernel sources of stock Oreo for potter would be available and as we all know this will only happen when our devices will be upgraded. The Moto G5+ stock rom is really good in terms of battery and performance and I'm very satisfied with the rooted 7.0 stock but I won't unroot and flash stock everytime just to get a security patch. Don't get me wrong, security patches are good and important but for me it's not worth the effort against the background that a major update is about to come in foreseeable time.
And that's the point why I'm waiting for Oreo for the Moto G5+. For stable custom roms and a good reason to unroot and reflash my device.

Stable enough although not ideal. There are always a couple hacks and other shenanigans that may not deliver the complete experience. Either missing blobs or proprietary functions that some people need it.
Warranty. I did unlock my bootloader within 3 months. My G5 Plus started to act stupid, the power and volume buttons would get stuck and not press down anymore. This is not my fault. I'm no *insert stereotype here* to handle my phone as if it is some piece of brick.
Result: I bought another one, extra 800BRL.
Also, not everyone has the knowledge to flash ROMs, as easy as it may be. Some people **** up the most simple stuff, such as downloading the right zip for the right device.

Well there is PIP (Picture-in-Picture) there may be a lot of people that would actually love to have this feature.
There is a new interface, some people like looking at something different. Blame them
I think they improved the File Manager.
More precise notification settings. (Notification Channels)
Unknown Source APK settings revamped. (Now you don't need to go back to that APK file because the system won't dismiss everything.) [And you can choose only your file manager in case your browser gets attacked and the attacker finds a way to install APKs from it, security+)

It should "wow" the fact that Motorola promised something as a company and did not deliver.
Would you trust them again? Do you believe they are caring enough about you as customer, or do you think they see you more as money than other OEMs?
I'm out won't due that stuck button problem I had and the delayed updates.

Companies lie. It's a universal constant. LG lied when they said all LG G4 devices after a certain serial number were free of the bootloop solder defect. Lie. They said it wouldn't happen in future devices. Lie. HTC lied about certain phones getting Gorilla Glass... They all lie. Motorola/Lenovo didn't give an exact date, they just said it would happen for a specific list of devices. They've reiterated the list, and then started a rollout in AUS/NZ for the X4 which is on that list, so now they can say they kept their promise because they started the rollout on one of the listed devices. They're going to say the delays are because they can't, logistically, rollout to all of them simultaneously. They've still come closer to keeping the promise than any other OEM, but they're all liars about something.
And I never take anything as a personal attack unless someone says something personal about *me* in an insulting way, so we're good. You're just sharing your opinion, same as I did. There's no harm in that.

An official Oreo release helps with custom Oreo ROM stabliity.
Unofficial LineageOS 14.1 is stable enough for daily use. I've been running it the past week weeks without GAPPs just fine.

You are OT. We are talking about March security update not about how pretty is the oreo UI.
Afte rall you can choose to not update to oreo, use a lineage of Nougat. Many choices for android users, you have nothing to worry about.

If you're referring to buying a factory unlocked version, that doesn't guarantee quicker updates. The US unlocked variant of the LG G5 was the absolute last one to get the Android M update. It seemed like LG didn't give much consideration to the factory unlocked version because that sold so few of them. The update finally came several months after everyone else.

couple of things. it didn't screw up my lg package installer. and no AI thingy on the camera. seem standard old oreo 8 year ago release.

There isn't any official announcement but. Seeing the pattern of providing update and the maintenance release notes for June patch. no one can expect Oreo till August/September as. It would take July to get updated security patch on every retail channel after which they will release another release which MAY be oreo. Which would actually take another month for full implementation.

I really want to, but those camera bugs on Oreo custom roms annoys me, so I'm using stock rom again and one reason that I bought this phone months ago is because Motorola said that it was going to update to Oreo, which is frustrating to not seeing it yet.
Oreo will happen.
It's just a matter of when?
We're just lower down the priority list than newer phones (like any other manufacturer).
We should hopefully be next after Moto G5S, so watch for when that starts rowling out.
OK, so Android Pie is officially released. I know it will be a while before it starts showing up on our Nokias, but when it does, I want to know when people start getting it, where they are located, what model they are using, which carrier they are on. This should give the rest of us an idea when we can expect to get it.
Thanks.
It should start on September, so I hope we will get it soon.

Probably not for a good long while, the main reason being the Chinese version gets what the Chinese government says they get, and the Chinese government is very picky about who gets what, especially if they don't make any money off of it.

Except they are not all in the Chinese market. Nokia 6.1s are being sold all over the world. It sucks for the Chinese market, but the rest of us will be getting updates. Specifically those who have Android One versions.
A solution for pie simulation
How about simulating Android pie by using a user interface similar to the Google pixel phones that has received the update? Then we can get pie like notification and recents (at least). If possible, a tweak for gesture or simple nav bar can be added. This can be applied to other non-pie ROMs (I meant ROMs of Oreo).
There's a reason I didn't like Android pify. It's p style recent is extremely buggy with pixel launcher.

For those who weren’t informed, Nokia 7 Plus was joined by the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 Sirocco in using the beta version of Android P. But this trial was limited to the Chinese market only. Speculations are that these devices might be amongst the first to get the new Android Pie and might even be ahead of Nokia 3 and Nokia 5.

Good to know. Hopefully any bugs were worked out and when we officially get Pie it will be a smooth transition.

I think the latest one on NTool is the B05 but I am not sure if it Pie or not.
Edit: Deleted some bull**** because I realized that actually the B-Numbers have nothing to do with the month....
September 26 and I just got the September security patch. Still waiting on Pie.
Downloading and installing the September security update on my TA-1050 currently. No signs of the Pie update as of yet.
Same on my TA-1045 (north america), just got the september update ~ 81MB
Got September patch in Poland. I think will get android Pie no sooner than in 2 months time.
Is updating to pie right now. (Friday, Sept. 13th 1240 EDT in US). (ota to non rooted stock). How' is it working for others on stock unrooted?)
Keep us updated!

@JohnFawkes will make TWRP flashable zip as soon as KDZ hits in a couple of days.
What features on LG Pie do you need immediately, right now? Nothing, that I can think of.
"Use volume keys for Media".
Uh, I already have that on my rooted V30+.

Would you mind trying this link out? https://lg-firmware-rom.com/ it'll walk you through getting a kdz. I'm curious to see if you'd get a pie kdz because you're on pie. If so then it means kdz's are released by IMEI

No, its showing an O kdz, 20k, I think I was actually on 20l before the update. So unfortunately no Pie kdz there yet.

This is exactly what I asked you not to do even when the thread was open.
Plus, she doesn't have the VS996 Pie Update yet. KDZ will be released in next few days.
She didn't close the thread because she didn't have Pie. She closed the thread because she doesn't need people bugging her.
It wasn't a real "development" thread, it was a "release" thread. Here it is, take it or leave it. You either want it or you don't. It was her personal module she was sharing with the world, when and how she wanted to.
She tested every version for days or longer on her phone before release. There were versions she did not release because they didn't pass her tests.
So when anyone complained X feature didn't work right on their phone, their comments were not only irrelevant for the purpose of the release thread, but also annoying. Her omnibus module works well on HER phone, and she tested it before release. Either go back to a previous version which does work or don't use at all.
Ideal scenario would be post Anxious V30 module release, lock the thread, post new release, lock the thread. No user comments needed.
The only problem is that would lock out people who had legitimate questions, not just people who don't understand she doesn't need feedback or testers for the personal module already running quite fine on her phone.
When she closed her thread she requested I take down all my AFH mirrors. So, people lost out on that vast past inventory also.
(If she ever opens it again, please do NOT annoy her with any comments about her personal module. ETA, feature requests, "bug" reports on YOUR phone, what you did to change her module and now it doesn't work for you, etc.)
____
Sorry for hijacking the thread to explain this yet again. It was stated over and over and over in the Anxious V30 thread.
Might as well post this here. Verizon is extending CDMA until end of 2020, instead of the much-stated deadline of end of 2019:
https://stopthecap.com/2019/08/01/verizon-delays-shutdown-of-3g-cdma-network-until-the-end-of-2020/
Verizon Wireless customers with older devices still reliant on 3G CDMA technology will be able to continue using them on Verizon’s network until the end of 2020.
The wireless giant confirmed this week it is postponing its retirement of 3G service for a year. The company had planned to switch off support for 3G at the end of 2019.
The company originally warned customers and its reseller MVNO partners back in 2016 that it would end 3G service on Dec. 31, 2019.

For people who are wondering the point... VS996 V30 has always had Verizon VoLTE on stock firmware. Even rooted stock firmware.
The issue for Verizon users is no V30 Lineage-based custom ROMs have VoLTE. So Verizon VS996 Lineage-based custom ROM users NEED CDMA to make phone calls.
So end of CDMA is the end of custom ROMs for V30 Verizon users, unless in the next year that issue is solved. The deadline has been extended.
However you can always run rooted stock firmware with Magisk (like Anxious V30 mod) and edXposed mods (like Gravity Box), and still have VoLTE.

How do you figure? VZ runs VOLTE on all modern phones (including the VS996) so they'll just turn off the 3G towers and the V30 will still work...? Hello my older Droid Turbo will work as well.
