I reboot my phone and immediately received a notification ping. Pulled down the list and it said that a system update was available and tap to download it.

Also, I am in the Midwest United States on an non-carrier branded phone. I don't know if that matters.
This might be the update us on Three got but can you post build number and kernel build date?

Thanks for that it's a newer kernel build I assumed the last 3 digits on the build number would be the same as the one on the Three software but ours is 853. No update here anyway.
Picture for anyone wondering
Cany anyone share their review of it after they update? I'm still on my original battery life test... :| (don't want to charge the phone yet so I don't want to update because I don't want to have less than a full charge for any update lol)
It seems they adjusted the speaker volume, it's not quite as loud as it was before update. Any one having problems with video playback? Everything I try to play shutters. I've tried Netflix and a bunch of video players, but they all do it. I was hoping this update would fix this but no dice.
I would hold off on patching. - Post edited because of double reboot
I plugged the phone in at 5pm with 49 percent battery, at 6pm showing 94 percent, phone never got warm while charging. Is it me or does that seem slow? Seemed to charge faster and get warmer before update.

Do not patch!!!! Speaker seems softer because the update broke Atmos, it is not working. Also the "updated ringtones" are also broken, most of them play the same sound. My biggest concern is there still isn't battery percentage for status bar

You can get the battery percent by activating the "experimental" UI tuner. Pull down the notification shader and long-press the gear icon next to the date on the top. This activates the System UI tuner in your settings, right over "About Phone".

Ok so they replaced all the ring tones with really quit ones. Half the volume they use to be. I'm thinking people were blowing out there speakers and now they took away one of the really cool features of the phone. My Note 4 rings louder now.

Pre update here, verified hulu works fine. Netflix just says error 1.1 for everything except the stuff i've already downloaded, which seems to be playing fine as well. Haven't actually attempted to play stuff before now.

I noticed that problem with videos too. Only way I found to resolve that was to add the video player app such as Netflix etc into Razers Game Booster and set any profile. That is what I had to do with my MX Player app.
Odd how Game Booster would fix the issue, but maybe its assigning the app more cpu utilization? Either way, try that and let me know how you get on.
I installed MX Player and added it to game booster and seems 90 percent better, thanks. Still having issues with Netflix, will play with some more settings.
Hello,
Since the update, the volume is really low.. Its almost like the bottom speaker doesn't work anymore.. I tired it in youtube and also google music.. even when i go into Dolby atoms and try the demo the bottom speaker doesn't work.. anyone else having this issue ? the other thing is that i cant seem to set different notifications for different email accounts under gmail app .
An fyi with the netflix error I was getting, I had to uninstall and reinstall it. Works fine now.
For the volume, I've had access to 3 phones. 1 phone had the bad/blow bottom speaker, not sure if it was oob defective or atmos had a bug and blew it when I was messing around with Atmos's eq.
Phone to replace that one works perfect like the other. Pre-update, sound loud as hell. Did the update on the blown speaker one, it removed 95% of the crackle, but at loud volumes the crackle persisted.
Comparison of pre and post update sound volume I made a post for, it's pretty bad. Not sure if they did this to prevent more rma's while they fix it, or if they'll try to quietly sweep it under the carpet, so please everyone be sure to do a live chat with customer service and report the crappy low volume from the update.
Still majorly impressed with the phone and very impressed with a 5 days after release patch 1.0. Though it seems a few individuals are having some bugs yet. Overall I'm not getting rid of this anytime soon.
Btw, square trade is what I went with. 300$ for 2 phones for 3 years, drop/spill protection is included. (so 150 a phone for 3 year "warranty"; also notes it cover 'sound issues')

Anybody have a fix for ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML) being so sluggish with Android Auto (at least in the Sonata)?
I was thinking maybe a power managment thing that slows down CPU while charging or when USB cable is attached. Dunno.
But it's not just me as I just read this review that confirmed what I am experiencing. I still have 15 days to return my phone but love it other than the Android Auto performance.
I know the Android Auto app itself could be geared toward Arm and an update could fix everything but hoping that happens and losing the opportunity to RMA it might not be wise on my part if it never gets fixed.
Any ideas? And this is the article that mentions the trouble with the Zenfone 2 and Android Auto in the Sonata...
Ok can't post link but it is on androidpolice website called "Android Auto: A Second Take On Google's In-Car Efforts".

Zenfone2 is dog slow with Android Auto. Why?
What do you mean dog slow? When I tried it last month it ran fine. Google maps and music worked without issues. The only minor thing is you had to scroll the screen to hit accept when the Android Auto disclaimer popped up - not sure if that was fixed or not but let me check with Hyundai.

Maps and Music work. But when in iHeart Radio for example clicking top left on the screen to choose a station is 10 times slower than my Nexus 5 or OnePlus. This results in choosing the wrong station as the list hasn't completed scrolling up when I choose a station listed.
The best way I can describe it is with other phones it displays at 25-30 frames a second but with the Zenfone2 it may not even be 5 frames a second. This is obviously not noticeable once the screen is drawn and no changes are needed.
Also performance switching songs via voice commands within Google Music is very responsive. It is just the screen draws that are unacceptably slow.
Like I said the review on androidpolice echos my frustration with the Zenfone2 and Android Auto in my Sonata.
Noted. I'll discuss with Hyundai.
My two music apps, deadbeef and poweramp, stops playing randomly. I tried disabling the power saving feature for both apps, but it didn't work.
I went to this thread for solutions, by using the background process limit.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s7/655691-music-streaming-stops-pauses-galaxy-s7-3.html#post5569966
What did you set the background process limit to, and is it still working for you?
I just got the phone and it's having the same issue with shutting off apps when the screen is off. Very annoying when trying to use it as an activity tracker, music player, audio book reader and many other 'normal' use cases for a smartphone.
It didn't matter what background process limit I set it to, it didn't work. The picture below happens when it the music app stop working. A message that shows "high power consumption apps" and "fast battery drain apps." Only poweramp doesn't stop as far as I know, that's probably because I only play a opus file though.
Being talked about over on zte's forums, happening for the axon also. It seems to be a buggy power management coding.

I was just about to say the same thing......should be fixed soon I hope
I gave up and sent my back. It's a shame as I got in on the nice bundle with headphones, battery pack and vr headset from B&H, but without the ability to use the phone as I need it, it's just not a good deal for me.
I do hope they fix it fast for the folks that are sticking with the phone. It's concerning to me the the Axon seems to have similar problems since November and still no fix, and most of the posters with 'influence' - ex - the little 'CPA' tag - can't replicate the issue on their devices.
Yea I am about to send mine back to B&H for a replacement since some who have gotten theirs from the same place are having no issues. If it happens again, I will send it to zte for a WORKING replacement so they can have a hands on with my phone. It is a shame too because this is a nice ass phone.

Google play worked for me.
I have a feeling the apps that came as system apps work fine. Its just the ones added after are having the issue. Its def a power management thing because policies aren't affecting the apps we add after.
Some though ( like others posting on the zte forums themselves ) like the CPAs and just other users aren't having the issue. So I dunno, its weird. Made me think it could have been a hardware issue or a coding issue on a certain batch of phones made on a different date. I returned mine today to to B&H to get a replacement so ill have to see if it does it again. I asked if others had the same issue and he said there were some returns for the problem but not many. ZTE does know about the issue, there is a 9 page thread on their forums that support and CPAs there are following and all. Live support knows of the issue too. One mentioned to me it needs to be patched but no date on it.
I would say contact newegg. Explain there is an issue with media apps shutting down after a certain time frame, that its a known issue to ZTE and you would like a replacement as not all phones are having the issue. They SHOULD honor it, considering it hasn't been 30 days yet since it was released.

Yea it doesn't work. When you lock the phone, it overrides whatever power management settings you put. ZTE knows about the issue though.

they just released an update apps no longer shutdown after 15 mins anymore of curse it has never happened to me tho
So I was quick to jump on the Android beta O as I was on the N rollout. I should have known there would be issues from when I was on the N beta but nevertheless I couldnt resist.
So far my issues are few but frustrating.
1. Anytime I get a call when the phone is locked it does not wake up the phone. I have to unlock the phone and click answer. Even after doing that theres still a notification that theres a call that I can either decline or answer even after Im already talking to the person. On the same issue, the proximity sensor doesnt work in the fact that when Im on the call the screen is still active and my cheek activates apps and whatnot. When on the call I cannot get to the actual phone app in order to change to speakerphone.
2. This might be silly but when using snapchat there is a significant lag and black screens between clicking on a story and it actually starting. Also in same app, when I try to take a horizontal photo it gets hung up and I have to close the app and take the photo vertically.
3. I dont know if its because Im using a launcher, but I dont get any notification dots on any of my apps. Maybe I have to be using pixel launcher in order for this to activate. Also, maybe I have to disable number notifications in the launcher for the O notifications to take over.
Those are the most noticeable so far but I figured Id get a thread going.
I keep getting Settings FC every now and then reboot doesn't fix it. Sometimes the FC disappears and settings works fine then it comes back again not sure what's causing it

PIP does work in YouTube red for me just not duo. After the beta update yesterday my phones alot snappier. Still significant lag in Snapchat. Also Bluetooth audio does not work when playing music, only works with calls.
For PiP to work I followed this thread

I don't have YouTube red but it works for me perfectly now. also Bluetooth has been working for me with my jaybird X3. so it might be some devices.

To get P.I.P I had to flash factory image instead of take OTA update. I have YouTube red so the background play can be a little funky with PIP.

For me, Android Pay stopped working. Says that the phone is rooted, but it is not. Also some apps lag and battery life seems worse. I was thinking of opting out, but it will wipe out all user data, so I decided not to. Too lazy to restore everything back.
Anybody notice the radio signal is worse? Tried flashing older radios and modems. It got a little better but not as good as nougat.

Its going to be different for everyone. I was just curious. I get average 90 on nougat and 110-115 on O
I've noticed that there are several apps that have newer version available, but won't update or install. You tube, Google App (beta), Calendar (stock), Maps & Transit (beta) won't install when downloaded from APK Mirror, nor are they being updated via the Play Store. They all work fine though, so it's not a big deal. I'm just wondering if anyone else has encountered the same or similar behavior.

If you want to know what is fixed and what is not just check the updates for Mi A1 and Mi A2 standard. They already received the update and they said the following:
Pros:
Screen rotation bug was fixed
A new radio version is installed/Better Reception
Touchscreen sensitivity issues fixed
Performance boost
Faster camera focus
Cons:
Because faster camera, now the camera makes a louder ticking noise when resetted
Auto brightness bug is still there
That's about it. We should receive this update sometimes this week.

Thanks Dear For The Comprehensive Prompt Response.
I want a DT2W toggle. This phone I butt dial A LOT with for some reason.
Got security update today in USA. 65.2MB size, seems small.
Got it also today, in Sweden. Nice that the rotation bug is fixed
I can't use dt2w after the update. I was looking forward to it being enabled again after the update as some sites said. Can anyone that received the update confirm or deny? Is there an option for dt2w that I can't find?
Update is now available on the phone. The OTA is about 65mb. A little bit small if you ask me, but installing right now and will edit the post after I test it a little.
Received In Pakistan
Downloading Now Its Only 65.2 MB.
After Update Will Let You Know That What's New...
I Can Confirm That Screen Rotation Bug Has Been Fixed Now After August Update

Ok while writing this I'm testing various functions of the phone and here's what I get:
-The rotation bug is now fixed, animations work fine and smooth.
-Screen sensitivity is now extremely high, even keeping my hand near the bottom of the screen triggers back button (I have a thick glass protector on, and I didn't experience faulty sensitivity in July update)
-At a glance option in stock launcher is still there and cannot be used. No toggles, no nothing.
-Launcher animations and responsiveness is great now, switching between recent apps and drawer is quick and fluid (just give it 5 mins after the update) and animations are now smooth and not stuttering at all.
-Switching between applications and opening new apps on top of already opened apps seems faster and animations are more fluid.
-Let's say signal reception is a little bit better, until now I was getting only 2-3 bars of LTE in my home, after the update there seems to be 4-5 bars of LTE
-The camera noise that the Mi A2 users were complaining last week is not present on Mi A2 Lite. Switched between all modes and from front to back and there is a little tick made by the AF mechanism when it resets the focus, but you have to keep the phone about 2-3cm from your ear in a quiet environment.
-Front camera works ok, doesn't overexpose like some users were complaining.
-Sensors seems to be working just fine. Rotation works smooth, almost instant. Light sensor works ok. Gyro seems to work just fine, tested in VR games.
-Sound quality seems good enough and it seems more full, and loud on speaker, no more clippings (before the speaker was clipping sometimes - same setup as before, I'm using Noozxoide as DAC and Sony Music as player).
-Seems like the phone is not overheat so much when under heavy use (36C after heavy use now, 42C on july update)
-Experienced minimal GUI stutters (just a few frame drops while switching apps in animations, not really bothering while day to day use, but worth mentioning) with a lot of apps running in the background, unlink hangs like the past 2 updates.
-Fingerprint sensor takes aprox half a second to a full screen wake, and about 250ms to lit up the backlight.
-Wi-fi conectivity seems ok, speed is ok, downloaded 2 office suite updates flawlessly and fast.
-Bluetooth seems ok, connected to my BMW ConnectedDrive system via BT and the car is outside my house, about 20m from the phone location.
-IR works fine, no problems there.
-Headphones works as expected, loud, extremely vivid sound and punchy bass (check sound setup above) and both L and R channels have the same sound amplitude. Tested with 3.5mm Apple EarPods.
-From the time of update (100%) the phone is now 93% which is great (50 minutes of high usage and continuous testing)! And by the time I am writing this the phone never went over 36C in a 26C environment.
-Still no DT2W (yet my phone never had dt2w)
-Everything else seems untouched no new settings and couldn't find the test version of 2fa that Mi A2 users were talking about
So that's that. I am very happy with this update, everything seems to be so smooth and fast. I love this phone again!!!

I can't use dt2w after the update. I was looking forward to it being enabled again after the update as some sites said. Can anyone that received the update confirm or deny? Is there an option for dt2w that I can't find?

I can confirm that the August update don't bring back DT2W!
There is no option for dt2w in the settings app either, so most likely Xioami is getting rid of this future.
Anyone knows if the missing Bluetooth codecs were added in this update? I'm not holding my breath, since the size seems too little to include them.

I don't know what bluetooth codecs but the only time I use bt streaming is in my car. And my car supports aptX, AAC and SBC and works just fine, and the quality is absolutely great. I can't see any difference between MP3's from the car's hard disk or bluetooth audio.
I have only one problem with bluetooth. I can't get to connect my iQOS device to this phone. I download the required app and then in the setup page it gives me a toast message about a PIN code being invalid. I got this error since I got the phone. On my old Sony I could connect it without a problem. I can't find a solution... Every other BT device work just flawlessly, except the god damn iQOS.

It's probably defaulting to SBC, the lowest quality BT codec available.
Does anyone have the august boot.img to patch with magisk?
Any link to the complete rom? the last one I download was daisy_global_images_V10.0.10.0.PDLMIXM_20190613.0000.00_9.0_f1adc81d8e.tgz that I found in official download miui page (now I only see V10.0.9.0.PDLMIXM) http://en.miui.com/download-354.html
Here... I found the link (in a russian website) hope its the good one: http://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.0.12.0...0.PDLMIXM_20190717.0000.00_9.0_59368ef014.tgz
i want back dt2w
So sad they did not fix DT2W, seems like my phone has to stuck at June security patch.
The software in 6 pro is buggy as hell, Now I'm getting random refresh rate drop in everything, Gmail, Play store google now all apps, Just whenever it feels like it.
Nothings changed app wise but now randomly when I wake the phone or just scrolling around it's stuttering like it's at 30hz not 60hz, Even with forced 120hz in dev settings it still does it makes 0 difference.
And do not disturb mode wow do not disturb means do not disturb not waking my screen at every notification while I'm asleep, I've tried custom options here as well nothing works there either, It's either no notifications at all on lock screen or status and no screen wake or everything together.
Honestly this is the worst phone I've had for bugs, I'm on November so they have already done 1 update.

That's the exect same as me!! Exectly! Even on the play store it's defo below 60fps seems to be moving into other apps, and on the YouTube app I'm getting purple lines going through my screen like it's a screen fault

I had to flash proton aosp ROM so I can have a smooth experience, and my god the apps open like lightning, no lags or jitters

I'm seriously getting fed up with it, If this January update doesn't drop before my return window it's going back, The worst Pixel experience I have encountered to date with Android 12 it's still beta imo, Shoddy, So many software issues disgusting from Google to be honest.

I may try that at some point, I mean what's the purpose of having forced highest refresh rate in dev settings when it does jack **** not to mention it shouldn't do this full stop, This is my third 120hz phone and by far the worst in terms of smoothness and refresh rate all over the damn place.

If defo does not run at 120 all the time even forced, something's making it drop, I made a post like yours before, lots of others having the same issue. I'm not sure on what to do, I don't really want to have to run custom ROMs tbh, yeah if Jan's update doesn't fix it then I can't possibly stay with this device

To be clear, it's likely not Android 12 itself that seems like it's still in beta, it's Android 12 on the Tensor CPU. After all, no previous Pixel phones running Android 12 beta would be able to test how it ran on Tensor.
I will say that Google should've done more internal testing of Android 12 on Tensor before the release of the P6P, since they couldn't possibly receive feedback from the public about it.

Try it before your window. Unlock the bootloader, flash stock ProtonAOSP 12.2 and play around. Safetynet passes right out of the box and everything save one or 2 things work. Plus tweaks. Then if you don't like it Android Flash Tool back to stock and send 'er home. Stock Android 12 on this device is simply awful all the way around.
Easily the worst performance on a 120hz phone I've used this year. Google for whatever reason seem to be really struggling getting this thing to work as it should. I really don't want to root because I just haven't got the time anymore to be doing all that stuff and I really shouldn't have to but in its current state the phone is so disappointing.

I'm on Dec update and the jitter and smoothness has improved but it's still not like other flagships around today. I'm praying the Jan update fixes a lot of it.
After a while of using proton it still has a little bit of jitterness about it, not sure what's causing it

Yeah I agree it could be Android 12 itself but then Google should have tested more and not releasing just for the sake of it, I mean look at OP they had to pull the 12 update, I am getting constant refresh rate drops now when I unlock my phone and start scrolling in apps even after restarting the phone it is ok until I lock the screen and then unlock and bang 30hz it looks like, Terrible just terrible.

I may do cheers but as one other posted it is still jittering in proton but I am not sure whether that is the same refresh rate drop, I cannot believe this wasn't picked up in testing it is basically rendering my phone useless at scrolling because of the massive refresh drop at the min, I wouldn't mind it was all good for a couple of days and I haven't changed anything just started doing it on it's own as many others have reported.
Simple they released the phone with rushed out Android 12

It is definitely curious why so many folks are having so many problems and then there are those like me who don't have any issues. Maybe it was a quality control issue where not all components were closely enough alike.
Internal testing lmao. No way Google did. They had to of had prototypes of these phones, no? Preorder day was a disaster and next year it will be exactly the same. It's been a trainwreck from the start for many of us but not all with this phone. Imagine the average user, not an xda user, who have so many issues. Think they'll buy another Google phone? Nope
Those having refresh rate problems better make sure it's not a installed app. I used an app called Kinscreen and it forced 60hz. I read others here saying they had the same issue with other apps.
It's definitely not component parts because I just flashed the updated November update from Google web installer and it's smooth again, btw the November firmware has all the December fixes as I haven't come across any of the old November bugs, some little we jitters here and there but no where near as bad as I had on the December build, revert back to November and then wait on Jan build

I don't think that's conclusive that it isn't (or is) component parts. All it confirms is we don't know what the root cause of the difference in experience is. I never had any problems on October, November, or my current December update.
I've had random drops in frames when scrolling web pages on chrome and other areas of the phone, and you can easily see how it'll jitter a bit. Idk what causes it but I don't think I've seen it recently.
One bug that drives me nuts, is if I go into the messages app and open a conversation, the keyboard will not be on screen but the app thinks it is, so I'll have this giant open space where the keyboard is supposed to be. I have to swipe right to "lower the keyboard" then tap inside the text box to bring it up again.
I'll be installing proton tonight and see if I notice a difference with anything, as I'm always thankful for custom roms that do a better job than stock.
