My two music apps, deadbeef and poweramp, stops playing randomly. I tried disabling the power saving feature for both apps, but it didn't work.
I went to this thread for solutions, by using the background process limit.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s7/655691-music-streaming-stops-pauses-galaxy-s7-3.html#post5569966
What did you set the background process limit to, and is it still working for you?
I just got the phone and it's having the same issue with shutting off apps when the screen is off. Very annoying when trying to use it as an activity tracker, music player, audio book reader and many other 'normal' use cases for a smartphone.
It didn't matter what background process limit I set it to, it didn't work. The picture below happens when it the music app stop working. A message that shows "high power consumption apps" and "fast battery drain apps." Only poweramp doesn't stop as far as I know, that's probably because I only play a opus file though.
Being talked about over on zte's forums, happening for the axon also. It seems to be a buggy power management coding.

I was just about to say the same thing......should be fixed soon I hope
I gave up and sent my back. It's a shame as I got in on the nice bundle with headphones, battery pack and vr headset from B&H, but without the ability to use the phone as I need it, it's just not a good deal for me.
I do hope they fix it fast for the folks that are sticking with the phone. It's concerning to me the the Axon seems to have similar problems since November and still no fix, and most of the posters with 'influence' - ex - the little 'CPA' tag - can't replicate the issue on their devices.
Yea I am about to send mine back to B&H for a replacement since some who have gotten theirs from the same place are having no issues. If it happens again, I will send it to zte for a WORKING replacement so they can have a hands on with my phone. It is a shame too because this is a nice ass phone.

Google play worked for me.
I have a feeling the apps that came as system apps work fine. Its just the ones added after are having the issue. Its def a power management thing because policies aren't affecting the apps we add after.
Some though ( like others posting on the zte forums themselves ) like the CPAs and just other users aren't having the issue. So I dunno, its weird. Made me think it could have been a hardware issue or a coding issue on a certain batch of phones made on a different date. I returned mine today to to B&H to get a replacement so ill have to see if it does it again. I asked if others had the same issue and he said there were some returns for the problem but not many. ZTE does know about the issue, there is a 9 page thread on their forums that support and CPAs there are following and all. Live support knows of the issue too. One mentioned to me it needs to be patched but no date on it.
I would say contact newegg. Explain there is an issue with media apps shutting down after a certain time frame, that its a known issue to ZTE and you would like a replacement as not all phones are having the issue. They SHOULD honor it, considering it hasn't been 30 days yet since it was released.

if the sony smartwatch is anything like my motorola motoactv, then the answer button only pops up if you have headphones connected to the watch itself. if no headphones detected, it will default to decline.

It works, but not flawlessly. There's an issue with the OS that can activate talk-back (or parts thereof). It only comes into play if you install some of the third-party notification apps, like Watch It (really good). It can be fixed permanently (in a non-ideal why) or temporarily fixed (less convenient but does not require disabling Engines). You'll know when you've got this issue, because your phone will unexpectedly say to you "the folder is opening..." when you open a folder. It's a minor irritation, but it gets on your nerves very quickly.
The watch itself works very well with my Note 2. Never dropped connection so far, seems to reliably get notifications (I have actually started to turn some off - as I get more than I thought I did!).
I like how it works with my phone. I see the Smartwatch as an evolutionary step to a decent version, which hopefully Sammy or Google will release. And at $100, you can't really go wrong.
Quite a few apps, and one or two of the paid ones are worth it, but mostly the free ones will do you just fine.

Actually i just wanted to know that the apps for smartwatch are perfectly working with Note 2 or not, as i tried the call handler app in smartwatch with note 2, then i find that there is no accept button on smartwatch to accept the call only decline button is there and also find the issue with the music app. So the issue is just with mine or every one facing the same . If you are facing the same issue then is there any way to get rid of this.
Please please please reply.

The SmartWatch is not fully compatible with the Note 2 for the phone answering App. It only works fully with Sony phones. There is no accept-call option in anything other than Sony phones.
Regards.
Considering you probably will want to take the phone out of your pocket before answering it, I don't see that as a real issue. "watch it" (and other programs that use accessibility settings) clashes with some other settings on the phone causing unexpected voice feedback and disabling the continuous input on the stock keyboard.. Other than that its fine..

Yes you can control music: start/stop, last/next, volume up/down.
No, there is no earphone port (use bluetooth headphones - who needs cables?)
I have found the watch controls music flawlessly, albeit not very conveniently in all honesty. Personally, I use the watch more to screen incoming messages and notifications. I don't try to do anything too fancy as it's easier to just use the phone.
On the subject of incompatibility with the TTS engines, there's no doubt this is an inconvenience, but not a great one. What happens is that the Note II (and I think other Android phones) starts talking to you when you don't want it to. For me, the biggy was it speaking out aloud "the folder is open..." (or "...closed") whenever I opened/closed a folder containing Apps. To say the least, it's distracting. If you disable the TTS engines (as I have done, undone, redone etc.) to fix the "folder is open..." issue (which fixes it for me, anyway) then you lose "DRIVING MODE" capability (which I rarely use) at least, and probably other speech apps too. The good news is that Navigation still works fine, even with the Samsung and Google TTS engines disabled. This is clearly not ideal, but only Google can fix it at the OS level, and they seem to be in no hurry at all.
I still think the Sony watch is a good product, as it allows me to receive and screen emails, RSS, tweets and to read them discreetly. It's much less distracting (and much less obvious, e.g. at meetings) than trying to read a phone.
I do still hope Samsung looks at this market though, as they will clean Sony's clock if they ever launch a similar product.

Heh. No it's very common. I know of two fixes: one is TEMPORARY, but does not require you to disable any apps; the other seems to PERMANENTLY fix the problem, but it results in disabling TTS apps. You have to figure out which of these two evils is the lessor:
Temp fix - go to setting-> applications and find the two TTS Aps (Google and Samsung). Clear the cache on both. It temporarily fixes the problem (on my Note II anyway). Bad news: it comes back, seems to be random. I have never figured out why, and now I don;t even try...
Permanent fix (the one I have today). Go to settings->apps and DISABLE said google and Samsung TTS engines. Problem goes away, but you may lose some important functionality (I haven't - Driving Mode is killed, but I don;t use it anyway). You can always re-enable these apps, by going to settings->apps, scrolling all the way to the bottom and re-enabling them. I have tried re-enabling, but this little bug comes right back after a random delay, so now, I just accept it.
Regards,
Andrew
PS - don't blame Samsung, blame google. This is their problem.
PPS - all SonyWatch notification apps seem to trigger this - on my Note II anyway. I tried 'em all.
Had to resurrect this thread, are you guys talking about the smart watch 2 or 1? I am thinking of buying smart watch 2 atm.
Anyone here noticing random Audio Ads on the new ZenFone 2 US versions? I've had the phone less than a week and have heard two (identical) audio ads for Toyota. One of them happened in the middle of the night when I was sleeping, and the phone wasn't doing anything. The other one happened just now I was a taking a pic of it. I couldn't see any running apps that would have Ads like this, and I'm not running any new apps that I didn't run on my last 3 phones...so the only thing I can think of is it's some sort of Asus built-in app? Or this phone is cheap because it's Ad supported??

I have had the phone a little over a week and have not had any issues like this.
Ad-supported phone.... That is an interesting idea... I really like this phone and if it turns out to be ad-supported, I would have to consider sending it back.
I suspect you have an app or a webpage open in your browser that is causing this issue.
You can bet I am going to be watching this thread closely.

Yeah, the first time it happened at 3:30am I thought it my be a rogue app or open webpage. but nothing was found. the fact it was the exact same commercial has me suspicious. I did realize I had one new app I didn't have on my nexus, the comcast xfinity app. But I don't know that to have audio ads unless you're watching content. I uninstalled it anyway, and scanned with malware bytes (clean). so I'm also very interested to see if it happens again.. I had my phone on vibrate only today too when the ad came on, and it was quite loud! A friend said it sounds like a rogue app, but it just doesn't make sense since I haven't gone with any other new apps, other than what's bundled on the Asus.
Anyway, I'll report back if it happens again, right before I wipe the phone and send it back to Amazon.
The phone is certainly not ad-subsidised. You've got a rogue app generating these.
First off, I disabled adaptive battery in Android P. Ever since the upgrade from 8 to 9, I noticed that notifications are right around 5 minutes late. I have a couple time-sensitive apps that I need notifications right away. Gmail and another app for my home automation. In Android 8, the were flawless. However, ever since going to 9, not so much.
I also noticed that when I delete messages in the gmail app for gmail and an IMAP email server I have it does nothing with the messages on the server. I login to webmail from a computer and the messages are still in the Inbox.
Anyone have any ideas? I am going to try a wipe again to see if it resolves the issues, but I am out of ideas. I had the above issues in Android 9 beta as well. I would downgrade and it fixed them.
I have the same thing and it turns out it is a common issue with Pie. I have not found a solution yet. I have read all kinds of things people have tried and nothing seems to help. Sorry that I can't be more positive. Hopefully Google will figure something out and fix in an update.
Here is a two page post I started about the issue but there are also many others online describing the same thing:
https://forums.androidcentral.com/android-pie/904647-notifications-delayed-stopped.html
My thought is that the delayed notifications are due to Android Pies implementation of adaptive battery. Maybe try excluding the apps you want to receive notifications from in a timely manner?
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using XDA Labs
You don't happen to have data saver in the quick tiles turned on by accident do you? That does prevent notifications from getting pushed. Both my parents had this on and a bunch of notifications came through after turning it off. I made sure to remove it from even being an available option.

been fighting with this issue as well, but it only seems to be gmail, and a couple other apps, my sms notifications seem to come through fine, at least as far as I can tell. I've turned off adaptive battery etc, nothing seems to make a difference. sometimes i can turn my screen on and all the notifications will come flooding in, other times they come through 10ish min later.
yes i have also these issue
and i opened thread on these https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/help/gmail-sync-problems-pie-t3839357
also i tried many apps, but instead of gmail but yet i didn't find any solution

Made sure it was off early on. No change.
The best way to describe my issue is that once the screen times out and has been off for at least about 5 minutes, notification sounds are delayed. It is sort of like the phone goes into a deeper sleep or something and then the problem arises. As soon as I use my fingerprint to wake the phone, all notifications blast through.
The delay can vary. Sometimes it is only 15 minutes or so, but often it is much longer. It is almost like once in a while an app wants to call home or something and to do so wakes up the phone just enough to allow some notifications through.
There also seem to be some issues with individual apps and notifications that may be fixed when a developer updates their app for Pie. For example, most apps notify immediately when the screen is on or within that first 5 minutes or so after the screen goes off. But since installing Pie, Kuna always has a delay of 5 to 10 minutes before notifying. Kuna does this 100% of the time. In fact if I have the phone awake, looking at the screen when walking out the front door, when the motion sensor is triggered, immediately there is a notification icon. But the sound notification is always delayed. This seems like an issue with Kuna and they are well know for being very slow with updates and fixes but eventually they do fix things. But the notification sound delays described in this thread do indeed seem like a system issue with Pie. Hopefully enough people will have the issue that Google will figure it out and fix.
I am having same issues after updating to Android P. At first, notifications came late about 5 min, but then they started to vary some coming in 15-30 minutes later. Can't figure out what is causing the time difference but either way I can't find a fix. I spoke with Google support and they had no fix as well.

Nope, they didn't mention anything about existing issues or being aware of the issue.
Any one found any solutions or fixes? I feel like my notifications are becoming even more delayed now and have also realized I'm not getting a lot of various notifications at all (through many different apps).
I am guessing you all are aware of this, and have tried, however I just found this recently and thought I would share for anyone that doesn't know.... Settings > Apps and Notifications > Advanced > Special App Access ..... Lots of options here with one of them being battery optimization for individual apps. After I upgraded to P, hardly any of my frequently used apps were given full battery use. Haven't played with all the other options there, however just granting apps full battery seemed to help me out.

One of the first things I tried was giving full useage, (no battery optimization) for all apps that I want notifications from. Did not help. Many other apps are still being optimized. I thought I had previously found a way to turn off all battery optimization but because I do have many apps in that list that are being optimized, I obviously did not. Right now I can't find a global setting to turn off battery optimization even though I thought I did before?
So I noticed this morning, that the main app/notification that's super delayed (5-10min after the event should have triggered) it doesn't happen when my phone is plugged in or i have the screen on in my hand. Even after going through all the battery save features and making sure this app is exempt from them, it still happens if the screen is off, or my phone is off the charger. super annoying. wish there was a fix for this already!

Verizon sent me a replacement because of this problem. I was apprehensive, but got a very nice re-furb. Still have the same problem, but I got a phone that is indicated as Verizon on the LG site. In developer mode, the bootloader unlock button works. I guess everything isn't bad. I sure hope Google straightens this out soon.

This happens only with Gmail on my phone - WhatsApp and Messages send instant notifications. Messages isn't optimized, the other apps are.
I can live with that, no big deal. Perhaps disabling battery optimization for Gmail would fix this, though.
Interesting note: I was talking to YouMail support today about something else but I asked about an issue where I get an email and transcript of a new voicemail but when I go to the YouMail app that voicemail is not shown until I drag down from the top of the screen to refresh the list. Support told me they are aware of this but can not do anything because it is a problem with the "latest Android version causing delay". So it is becoming a more widely known issue and hopefully Google will fix soon.
Thanks for all the feedback. Speaking of delay, I think I have tried just about every fix here and then some and still no luck. Wiping the phone did nothing as well. At this point, I would almost like to revert back to v8 to get this fixed.
I tried this supposed fix, (reply #51). https://forums.androidcentral.com/a...ifications-delayed-stopped-3.html#post6355714
No idea if it worked for me as when you restart the phone you need to do it again and less than 30 minutes after I went through the steps, my Pixel2 got the October update for Pie and required a restart!
Almost every Samsung android phone I've own has this problem after using it for a period of time. I've had the note 10+ since launch and the dreaded issue has return.
For some apps, I would tap the notification for the app. It would take a few minutes before the app will open.
Anyone has this issue?
I've had it on my note8, Note9 and now the note10+.
Hard reset will fix it but I don't want to reset and start again..
Continuation from note 8 thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/app-lag-clicking-notification-t3781356/page2
I don't have this issue.
Some people prefer to perform an hard reset as soon as they got the phone, before starting using it for the first time ; maybe they had some issues like yours at first, then wanted to avoid them.
Personally I didn't got any at first run.
That's odd, I have not experienced what you say in any of my samsung devices dating from my beloved S3 to this note10+
Yes..i am so confuse why it happens.. When the phone is new or just had a hard reset.. I don't have the issue.. Over time I always get it.
I also have this issue and it's incredibly annoying. Apps will take a full minute to open after being tapped on from the notifications banner. I too have had all but one Note product since the original (skipped the 2nd gen), but this is the first I can recall this issue happening. I'm also experiencing the issue of Google Play store apps getting stuck at 99% or 100% and not installing for 10 minutes or longer.
Is it all apps or certain apps only? Are you running stock or rooted? Exynos or Snapdragon? I haven't seen this issue shown up in a while, but have had it happen on Android devices in general in the past.

I don't have this issue, but as @dhorgas, more info would be helpful if it's a problem that can easily be fixed.
Two have the issue here, It could be a common app both of you are running.

It seems to be related to pendingIntent type notifications as if I tap a notifications that is a collapsed version of all the notifications, the app will load instantly. Have a look at this video I created:
(I didn’t include the tap showing on screen unfortunately, will attempt to do another video next time)
Initial tap was when the notification is collapsed for reolink and that will just open up the app. Happens instantly.
I close the app, expanded the notification and click on specific notification
The app doesn’t open until 8 minutes + later towards the end of the video.
Issue is happening across a fair few apps so I doubt it's common app..
I also have the issue of delayed notifications as discussed here:

Have the same issue with the play store. One way to speed it up is to force close play store... Then reopen it..
The app will redownload and should install this time.. Not always..
Quick update: Got fed up and did a factory reset and restored everything. Everything's working fine now. Obviously that's a last resort, but so far it's the only solution I've seen.

Wow. That would drive me crazy. Try backup, hard reset and restore like @Aaron J did and see if that fixes the issue.

Yes.. It will fix it.. But it's temporary..
The issue won't happen straight away.. It takes a few weeks/months and will return.. It has happened to me from the note 8, note 9 and now note 10+.
Initially everything will be good and fast.. Then eventually issue will return..
So need to try to get to the root of it..

Hope the issue doesn't return for you.. It always returns for me..
I have been dealing with 3 issues in my phone:
-delayed notifications
-slow app opening when tapping notifications
-apps installation through play store delayed after download
So recent development, I have been following this thread on Samsung forums regarding delayed notifications
https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...ting-all-range-of-Samsung/td-p/738070/page/28
Have tried all the fixes which has given minor relief..
But the last suggestion to disable dynamic lock on windows 10 seems to have fixed the issue for me. Early days but all 3 issues have not reoccured yet today.. Usually my Samsung reminders will not show until I reboot. But today been good so far.
Apps install instantly and apps open from notifications straight away..
Will report back in a few days if anything changes..

So ... did this do it? I've been dealing with this for a LONG time. My Note 8 started this crap after the 9 'upgrade', motivated me to get a new Note 10. A few months later, the SAME exact problem is cropping up.
Slow notification reactions, stuck installs, notifications coming in repeatedly, notifications coming in late all at once.
If this isn't resolved soon, my next phone will definitely not be a Samsung.

Yes, my issue is gone now. Try removing windows dynamic lock and unpair your phone from your laptop if you have this setup.
If not, try slowly removing other Bluetooth devices.
For me, a Bluetooth yeelock also caused the delay to return..I have to reboot each time after using the lock to get it back to normal.
I also think a plantronics desktop headset was also causing the issue as I was getting the lag everytime I reach home since removing windows dynamic lock. I have since unplugged it and unpaired. So far been good for a few weeks now.
I heard this issue wasn't specific to Samsung but might be an Android issue..i think it started with Android 9.0 as you have mentioned as I never had this issue when I was using the note 8 before one ui.. But note 9 and 10+ both had issues..
Similar issue mentioned on pixel phone support:

I don't have Dynamic Lock set up, nor do any of my computers have bluetooth enabled. BUT I do have this cursed Plantronics PLT W8200 series headset that has been nothing but buggy since I got it. Not surprised if this is the cause. I just unpaired it - fingers crossed.
I hope that's it because otherwise, it's just 2 other pretty crucial devices I have paired.

Would be good to hear if this fixes your issue. Please make sure you reboot after unpairing too and if possible completely unplug the plantronics as I think it might try to connect to your phone still (but fail) and potentially still bring the issue back as my yeelock doesn't even show up as a paired device, the app just sends msg to it via bluetooth and I still have delays after using it.

So after the weekend of having the Plantronics headset un-paired, it *seems* better. Hopefully it stays that way.
I don't know exactly what I did that made this start happening, but right now every time a toast message pops up it stays on the screen for over 10 seconds. If there are other messages queued up then it will display all of them one after another each for over 10 seconds. I did a Google search and could not find a solution. Has this happened to anyone else?
I've tried everything short of a factory reset. I rebooted and safe mode and it still happens. I reset all of the application preferences, as far as permissions and that sort of thing goes, that fixed a few issues I've been experiencing but the toast problem persists.
Is this a bug? is there a solution? Can you adjust the timeout for toast messages? Are there any third party apps that change this setting on an unrooted phone that I unwittingly may have used?
Will I be forced to do a full factory reset to fix this problem? It's really annoying, haha!
thanks in advance for any help
I did everything including a factory reset and those toast messages still did the same thing, so I am thinking it definitely is an OS system upgrade problem!!! It is so annoying !!

I still don't understand if this happens on everybody's Pixel 3 or if it's just ours. if it's just a few people then there has to be a common thing that caused it to start doing this. I haven't thought about it too much but my first suspicion was SystemUITuner. did you by chance install that and change anything using it?
I can't think of anything else that I have had to enable permissions with ADB for on here that would have messed with the display settings.
I've been rooting every phone I owned since cupcake. usually owning more than one at a time because well that just makes your power level go up exponentially ... through carelessness and not reading what I needed to before purchasing my Verizon Pixel 3 XL, This is the first phone I've had in my life for more than a month or so that was a daily driver without root.
my point is, I really can't think of a reason why the timeout for all toast messages system wide would suddenly change to be 30 seconds long instead of three. I would have bet on it that that is something that you need root to alter. ??*

looking at Google's past release schedule and also starting to hear rumors about Android 11 (they did put a system image up on Google's page but you cannot install it without an unlocked bootloader), we should start hearing official announcements about it soon, with beta1 probably end of April beginning of May.
Even if there are a few not annoying bugs I think it would be worth the upgrade to get rid of these toast messages covering all kinds of stuff that I need to be reading NOW! not in (in the case of three or four toasted pop-up great after each other) 2 minutes later when I've already Ben distracted and can't remember what I was wanting to be able to tap on that was under the eternal-1 toast message timeout.
it's very interesting to me that if you Google this problem there's maybe one or two results. I'm very curious what we are doing to cause this issue. if you or anyone from the future is reading this and knows This information please leave a little response or just post a link it, so maybe I can die happy having finally solved this riddle
thank you in advance

I stumbled upon this after googling the same issue.
I'm not sure if we had the same issue, but I just noticed that it was the "Time to take action (Accessibility timeout)" option, under Settings > Accessibility that made my toasts be long than 3 seconds.
Although it should be on "Default" by default (duh), so if you didn't change this, it must be something else.
Just thought I'd mention it.

I wish there was a way to make it shorter than 3 seconds but from my research it can not be changed can it?

Just an FYI, coming from AT&T prepaid 6 years during the covid party the depth AT&T is it has taken me 9 months to move to postpay. It is a corporation a complete morons above customer support. All my problems are met with an upsell attempt and I have bit once or twice in return I was kindly bitten all this to say that they put a Motorola one 5G Ace 64 4G ram in my hand and I have the same issue except might hang for 20 to 45 seconds it seems like 90 seconds! May well be. Obviously they're not translucent but the desktop or any operation underneath it will take a finger command if you know where the hell to push. I did not get it from Amazon but I was looking to upgrade to the 128 prior and post this phone and one of the main salesman there with Motorola America which of course is not a Motorola product it's just a Motorola name. The ruination of a long-standing pioneer groundbreaking company! and he wanted to know more information from me and wants me to become a free paid intern or some crap and help them figure out what's going on so there you go? I am sure I am not the only one and just as sure as I am of that, I am sure that the people that make them and sell them and talk about them all day to potential customers or two customers have no freaking idea what their products do.!!

dude... thank you.
i dunno how leaving a toast message on top of the buttons you need TO take action helps but that is what caused, likely, or at least what corrected the issue for me.

I can't find this accesability option on my note 10 + g975fd bubi know it was some kind of setting somewhere because I remember turning it on trying to see some message it waS throwing while I was setting up some Tasker task. Which makes me think it might have been turned on by option for a tasker action but I'll be damned if I can find it again. It's actually nice most of the time but lately it's been really annoying to me because it shows over the keyboard and most of the time an OK or cancel prompt. And like previously mentioned if there are ten of them its quite a long time to wait. And I also turned something on that does a toast every time an intent is launched so you can see how this has multiplied the issue. I think it's one of those situations like (in Tasker you can say launch so n so app, one of the potions is to make the app launch a new instance and another is to have the app not appear in recents. That's all fine gravy for that instance but nobody anywhere ever says that from now on any time you launch that app that it will launch a new instance and it won't appear in recents) whether it's in Tasker or from the Launcher or if you just switch to another app and back. It quickly becomes an issue when you are trying to enter passwords or watch Netflix and do something else real quick. And if you don't put 2 together with 2 because you didn't notice right a way it can be a brain bender trying to figure the little problem out. I'm thinking that's what I have done is set some obscure option for God knows what experimental task and now its stuck that way. But it's really not something I want to bother joã (Tasker de"sorry for spelling") with and he may not know anyway. But thanks for the thread and any other suggestions would be appreciated.
