Hello! I updated my 5x to android 8.1. But I would like to downgrade angain to android 6.0.1 because I think I can control better the battery life with xposed.
Is possible downgrade it safely?
Thanks!

Accept the terms and conditions, then find your device, Nexus 5x Bullhead. Download 6.0.1 factory image and use flash all. That way you will be safe as you flash everything, bootloader, recovery, radio and the factory image. Then you can root and do whatever you like.

you can downgrade to any version you like if you're on 8.1 you just need to remember the current password pin or paternt you have in 8.1 and xposed is released for 7.1.2 so you can downgrade to that version and control the battery with this mod

Thank you!
I flashed 7.1.2 and I think MM is better for me. What do you think about android 6,7 or 8?

I'm currently on MTC20F rooted with TWRP and was wondering if there's anything different to upgrading to Nougat? I usually download the stock image from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images and remove the '-w' in the flashall.sh and run it. But since i'm going from 6 to 7 i'm wondering if there's anything special I need to do? Has anyone had any major issues with it and should I wait to upgrade or anything? Thanks!

just use this HowTo and go through section 9, thats it. of course, it also works for upgrading from MM to N.

no, attack!
Hi, I'm a long time Android enthusiast, owning, rooting and modding a Nexus 4, LG Optimus V, and Honor 5X. However, the HTC 10 is really confusing to me because of its new Nougat update.
I currently have a US Unlocked HTC 10 with a freshly unlocked bootloader, S-On. I was wondering if I should root it with TWRP Recovery, and install an RUU to keep root, or is that not how it works? I'm jut very confused as to how to keep root going into the Nougat update. Thanks
Thats not how it works.
When you use an RUU, it will not keep root. It will wipe your device full factory reset.
I dont really recommend the 7.0 update just yet as there is no TWRP for it.
Since you are S-ON, you wont be able to downgrade back to 6.0.
You CAN root 7.0 using Magisk if you need to.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/development/root-magisk-autoroot-magisk-phhs-t3507505
If Still you want to upgrade, then you should S-OFF FIRST.. so you can downgrade if you want. You can NOT S-OFF from 7.0 yet, and you can not downgrade without S-OFF, so it's a one way ticket if you don't S-OFF first. (for now.)
You cant really Keep root (AKAIK), you'll have to re-root after each update. Here is what I usually do (excluding the 7.0 update for now because there is no TWRP Yet)
1) Flash TWRP.
2) Backup System Image / Boot (Clean - before root).
3) Flash the latest SuperSU to root.
4) When there is a new OTA update, boot to TWRP, restore the Last Clean System Image / Boot images.
5) Flash Latest Stock Recovery.img. (You'll need to find it, or extract it from an OTA Zip)
6) Boot to Rom, Install OTA.
7) Repeat Steps 1-3

Is Sunshine still the only way to S-OFF? If so, is it still a paid option?

As far as I know, Yes and Yes.
I was getting along fine without it, until I upgraded to 7.0 and wanted to go back... now I'm stuck.

I see. Seems as it it'd be better to wait for a confirmed root / twrp method for 7.0 first for a guranated method. Thank you, some of these terms are new to me....

I think there are many of us that are in this situation, I will be waiting patiently for a fix to the TWRP issue with 7.0 and then will enjoy the ride...
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
Yep, same here. The best option is to wait for Captain Throwback to get TWRP spruced up for Nougat. Flash Nougat then flash TWRP.

How would I custom Rom to 6.0 without TWRP?

Oh yeah, good point lol. Would need to flash an older boot combination I guess. Way to dangerous for most, this is why I s-off first and mess around after. I imagine TWRP won't be long anyway
Lineage runs the 7.x Nougat base. My phone is still on on Marshmallow, running version 6.0.1. I've not updated or done anything to my software in a year and a half, and am still running Leedroid V2.7.1-Stable. What all do I need to do to my phone to update the software and radios?

Flash this no-wipe firmware
Put it into your fastboot folder, boot to download mode, and:
fastboot flash zip **drag and drop the firmware.zip here**
You'll get an remote 90 hboot update "flush again immediately" error (or something similar). Just re-enter the same commands a second time, then reboot.
Thanks! I did not use the Sunshine app to gain s-off. At one point I thought going to the new base would result in me losing s-off and possibly root. Is that no longer the case?

You'd lose root if you used an RUU, but with the no-wipe firmware you won't lose anything
Thanks for the quick response! My phone is presently encrypted. Will the encryption interfere with the no-wipe firmware? I don't mind losing encryption, but I want to make sure I won't brick my phone.

No, it won't interfere with it.
I have bootloader unlocked on my pixel 2 xl. On android 9 with magisk.
I was wondering if I could flash android 8.1 and keep my user date (apps, photos, settings and everything) in take and just downgrade? Is that possible? Or do I have to do a full wipe and flash 8.1 and install everything?

You will have to do a clean install and wipe. No other way around it.

Hi, I'm not exactly well seasoned with this rooting stuff but was able to root my Mate SE with Magisk and it has TWRP.
My GPS/Google maps have been terrible and wanted to apply the new OTA update
I'm on build number BND-L34 8.0.0.358(C567)
Security patch August 1, 2019
Kernel Version 4.4.3+
Can someone point me to the guide to do this for the Mate se? Do I need to download the stock ROM for this phone somewhere? Thanks

Nothing special is required. Just update normally with stock recovery installed.

Thanks do you know what the commands in adb would be to flash new recovery? I know when I rooted nougat to oreo recovery2 was actually erecovery or something along those lines.
Do you know how I can downgrade back to nougat and then root that? My GPS isn't working at all.
Thanks

If you're on Oreo, the command is "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk [recovery]" where [recovery] is the name of the file you're going to flash, whatever it may be. twrp_3.1.1.img as an example. I'm not sure if it's possible to go back to Nougat. I have an L34 that came with Oreo. I think there is a thread that may be able to assist.
