HTC Music can't update album art anymore. - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Did this happen to anybody else?
I tried installing a newer version of the app, but it just doesnt work. All the other versions crash.
(Stock ROM, Lollipop Sense 7)

Make sure the options are checked in settings within the music app. You can try deleting the cache and data of the app and let it reload or go back to the original app (uninstall updates) and update it again.

Mine ain't downloading some of them either, even with legit ID3 tags. Are your ID3 tags on the songs proper?
If you just want to have your album arts (like I do) there are nice apps on the store that download them.

How do you reinstall certain apps after flashing another rom?

Recently I've flashed a bunch of roms, what's keeping me from keeping them is certain apps they remove (like HTC FM Radio and Navigation). Is there any easy way to port these apps back in? Usually if I just find a copy and try to install it says "not installed." In the case of Navigation, uninstalling and reinstalling the updated google maps doesn't make the Navigation app show up.

use titanium to back up the apps that you needed and then transfer them to other roms if you wish.
Another option is to download "System panel" from market the full version has an archive option. this will keep all apps on your sd you can restore them later.
However: +1 for titanium backup, it is much better, allows you to keep all data associated with the app and its market link so you continue to get updates from that app.
I use Titanium Backup but I don't see where I can restore the Navigation app. I read it was part of the Maps app when you download it but still don't see an entry. Can I just restore my backed up google maps and it'd show up? Reinstalling maps from the market doesnt seem to do it either.
the actual navigation.apk, if I remember properly, is actually a part of the HTC side of programs. So I think some developers actually remove this apk from the rom. In that case, if you want navigation.apk back you will have to find it and then install it back onto your phone.
I skimmed this so I hope its not off track
...errr ok just re-read it. If you find you can't install it because of an error, you may have to get into shell and copy it from the sd card to /system/app

[Q] Offline Google Music when changing ROMs?

When I flash a new ROM and tell Google Music to download some music for offline, is it overwriting the old music I had told the previous ROM to download for offline? Does that make sense? I just don't want 10 copies of each song because I update ROMs fairly frequently.
Thanks.
That's a good question.. I guess the only way to know would be to download some, find the directory they are saved in, then switch ROMs and check the directory for duplicates.
I would imagine google music keeps a record of what it has downloaded and doesn't scan the directory. When you change ROMs this list gets wiped too and thus it redownloads the songs. Of course I could be wrong but I would imagine backing up google music data with TiBu and restoring it might fix the issue?
Each time when you flash a rom or remove the google account from the music app, the system automatically erases everything(music, album art, etc) back to the stone age. So each time when you flash, you gotta download everything again. It's a PITA for me because I have about 10gb of music in my playlist.

Yeah, I'm currently redownloading my 15GB of music with google music. I might just find the directory with all the files and move it, then use a different player or something. I can't deal with redownloading this every time I flash a new CM10 nightly.
/android/com.music or something similar.

Problem with gallery and music in Gen.Y B5

After full wipe I flashed latest beta and pics aren't shown in gallery and also I'm unable to pick mp3 as a ringtone.
I've done the trick with mix player and it doesn't help.
Can someone help me with this?

Check for the file named “.nomedia” (without quotes) in the root folder of your SD card. This file tells media scanner not to search for media in this folder and its subfolders. If you find this file in the root directory then simply delete it. The issue is caused probably by newest ROM manager. Some users report that this file is recreated after reboot. In this case I would temporary downgrade the ROM Manager to older version. Hit the THANKS button if I helped you
I also have the same issue. There's no stray ".nomedia" that I can find in my SD card. Logcat entries contain no related error message.
If you use MXPlayer, in settings there is an option about .nomedia. Diasble it. Sometimes that cause this kind of problems.
Try Wiping Dalvik and fix permissions
Clearing cache, dalvik cache and fixing permissions don't work. Strange thing is that newly captured screenshots and photos appear in the Gallery app right away. The disappearance apply just to the existing images and music files in built-in Gallery and Music app. Third-party image browsing apps like QuickPic are behaving correctly (showing all images, respecting .nomedia on selected folders appropriately.) Third-party music players (Google Play Music, Winamp, etc.) however can't find any music tracks, behaving exactly like the original Music app. Bumping so that yozgatg might take a look.
Alternatively you can use QuickPic and set up included folders manually.

Didn't work. I've tried both fixing permissions from CWM and from ROM Toolbox Lite. I don't think this is a temporary problem that can be resolved by clearing cache and fixing permissions. For images there are plenty of alternative apps that can be used, but it's currently a dead end trying to list music tracks
COPY ALL SDCARD FILES TO A PC FORMAT THE SD CARD AND COPY BACK ONLY THE IMPOTANT FOLDERS LIKE ANDROID AND THOSE CONTAINING THE PICTURES AND MUSIC FILE LEAVE THE REST
HIT THANKS IF IT HELPED:good::laugh:
I have this problem too. On over ROM (jelly bean) .

Guys, I found the solution posted here (from the Galaxy Note sub-forum) works for me today. All music tracks and pictures are back :good: Give it a try! Credit goes to matius44 on that thread.
Edit: AFAIK, the steps listed in this fix apply to ICS only. I haven't tried it in a JB build yet.
No. Not workng for me. CM10 JB HTC DESIRE Z.

Apps missing after flashing first ROM

Missing apps after Flashing my first rom
Hi
I did everything I was supposed to do, used CWM manually to wipe data/factory, went from jellybean 4.11 to CNA 3.6 and chose the gapps package without picassa + camera extras.
I used TBackup Pro (apps and data) and did a nandroid and saved my complete Sd card contents to my pc for safekeeping. Then I did the flashing
I thought gapps had ALL the google apps included...
Some apps did not reinstall like Google Play (music player) which was a system app and the play store says it isnt available in my country (canada). I never had the cloud feature as far as I know in the official JB rom, just the music player.
Other system type apps were probably different versions ie email client, clock, gallery, stock browser, currents, android keyboard, exchange services...anyway all of those have a line through them in TBackup.
Also,, I thought all my desktop layout/folders would be preserved like it did once before when I unlocked bootloader and rooted.
So... looking at Tbackup in the restore section it has restore all system data 73 instances..is that the same as app data? Is this the data/settings I restore for the apps?
I thought all my settings and stuff would/could be preserved, I even tried to pull it out of the nandroid via Tbackup.. sat there for an hour trying to restore 1 app (email) while the busy indicator kept swirling.
Seems like backing up apps is redundant as my google account restores them. I want the data /saved settings etc.
What am I missing here?..obviously it didnt go like the videos i watched.
And HOW the heck do I get the stock google music player back onto this install?
BTW this is a nice rom. no problems so far and very customizeable.

Use something like Market Enabler to spoof a U.S. carrier, and then download it.

As for your other issues, you need to read up on Titanium Backup.
1) You shouldn't restore system apps/data across different ROM versions;
2) You should only restore user app data when the app is the same version;
3) Yes, you are correct, you do not need to restore apps if you are going to download them from the Play Store.
Thx Efrant...well I was able to find and download 3 different versions of it and place on my sdcard, It launched but would not install...even when I was completely offline. I read in one thread where someone suggested putting it in /system/apps but I never saw any results in that thread regarding the suggestion.
I saw a few proxy type apps which seemed only to work with a browser.
I found market enabler...loaded it with T-Mobile info..cleared my play store cache, and was able to download...but got an unknown error -24 during install.
any suggestions?

[Q] why playlists empty after a ROM flash?

Does anyone know why playlists empty after a ROM flash? How to prevent it?
So here is the story:
- I have playlists with songs in them
- I flash a new version of a ROM (wipe cache & dalvik).
- playlists are still there but are empty
- MP3s at still there as well

I have somehow similar problem, so maybe instead creating another thread I will hook up on this one.
So I use latest (5.04?) version of 4.4.2 AOSP by slv96 and Google Play Music. I've discovered that everyday my Music Libary is resetting, so I have my playlists but they're empty, and 'Liked' playlist is gone aswell. I'm wondering what's causing this to happen.
