Apps missing after flashing first ROM - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Missing apps after Flashing my first rom
Hi
I did everything I was supposed to do, used CWM manually to wipe data/factory, went from jellybean 4.11 to CNA 3.6 and chose the gapps package without picassa + camera extras.
I used TBackup Pro (apps and data) and did a nandroid and saved my complete Sd card contents to my pc for safekeeping. Then I did the flashing
I thought gapps had ALL the google apps included...
Some apps did not reinstall like Google Play (music player) which was a system app and the play store says it isnt available in my country (canada). I never had the cloud feature as far as I know in the official JB rom, just the music player.
Other system type apps were probably different versions ie email client, clock, gallery, stock browser, currents, android keyboard, exchange services...anyway all of those have a line through them in TBackup.
Also,, I thought all my desktop layout/folders would be preserved like it did once before when I unlocked bootloader and rooted.
So... looking at Tbackup in the restore section it has restore all system data 73 instances..is that the same as app data? Is this the data/settings I restore for the apps?
I thought all my settings and stuff would/could be preserved, I even tried to pull it out of the nandroid via Tbackup.. sat there for an hour trying to restore 1 app (email) while the busy indicator kept swirling.
Seems like backing up apps is redundant as my google account restores them. I want the data /saved settings etc.
What am I missing here?..obviously it didnt go like the videos i watched.
And HOW the heck do I get the stock google music player back onto this install?
BTW this is a nice rom. no problems so far and very customizeable.

Use something like Market Enabler to spoof a U.S. carrier, and then download it.

As for your other issues, you need to read up on Titanium Backup.
1) You shouldn't restore system apps/data across different ROM versions;
2) You should only restore user app data when the app is the same version;
3) Yes, you are correct, you do not need to restore apps if you are going to download them from the Play Store.

Thx Efrant...well I was able to find and download 3 different versions of it and place on my sdcard, It launched but would not install...even when I was completely offline. I read in one thread where someone suggested putting it in /system/apps but I never saw any results in that thread regarding the suggestion.
I saw a few proxy type apps which seemed only to work with a browser.
I found market enabler...loaded it with T-Mobile info..cleared my play store cache, and was able to download...but got an unknown error -24 during install.
any suggestions?

Market enabler is found here: http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/
I use it and it works just fine.

How do you reinstall certain apps after flashing another rom?

Recently I've flashed a bunch of roms, what's keeping me from keeping them is certain apps they remove (like HTC FM Radio and Navigation). Is there any easy way to port these apps back in? Usually if I just find a copy and try to install it says "not installed." In the case of Navigation, uninstalling and reinstalling the updated google maps doesn't make the Navigation app show up.

use titanium to back up the apps that you needed and then transfer them to other roms if you wish.
Another option is to download "System panel" from market the full version has an archive option. this will keep all apps on your sd you can restore them later.
However: +1 for titanium backup, it is much better, allows you to keep all data associated with the app and its market link so you continue to get updates from that app.
I use Titanium Backup but I don't see where I can restore the Navigation app. I read it was part of the Maps app when you download it but still don't see an entry. Can I just restore my backed up google maps and it'd show up? Reinstalling maps from the market doesnt seem to do it either.
the actual navigation.apk, if I remember properly, is actually a part of the HTC side of programs. So I think some developers actually remove this apk from the rom. In that case, if you want navigation.apk back you will have to find it and then install it back onto your phone.
I skimmed this so I hope its not off track
...errr ok just re-read it. If you find you can't install it because of an error, you may have to get into shell and copy it from the sd card to /system/app

[Q] Internal memory and contacts

Hi,
2 question if anyone doesn't mind anwsering.
As I understand the DHD has 1.5GB of internal memory. I'm runing ARHD 3.3 with no extra apps isntalled and my availible space is only 0.93GB. Where did 1/3 go? When I was running stock I think I remember having about 1.3GB
Second, it is very anoying seeing all those facebook contacts clutering people I actually know, and I actually can't seem to figure out how to remove them!!
Thanks for anwsering!
Maybe the ROM was token that memory. And for facebook contacts just go people-menu-view, and check what you need.

do you want to remove all the facebook contacts or just a few?
you can remove the data and re sync with facebook for htc sense to just sync cntacts
to do this you go to application manager and choose all
scroll down to facebook for htc sense then clear data
open facbook app and re sync
Storage issue:
It is possible that you have back-up, say, your stock ROM and that takes up the space of your internal storage. If you delete the back-up at ROM Manager itself or any file explorer you will notice that the storage will be freed once again. [Think carefully before you delete them, you may want to keep the stock ROM if whatever purpose in future(if any). Lol.]
Facebook contact issue:
Facebook contact you can remove them by signing out from Facebook and then sign in again, and you may wish to "Don't Sync" them. As a result those contact in your Facebook account will not appear in People app.
Cheers. =)
one more
Huge thanks! Everyone!
Yes I had 3 backups! Guess that was what was hogging my internal.
Facebook fix worked
Got another issue today, lol
I reflashed another ROM today and as soon as I logged into my Google and Sense account it reinstalled (restored) about 30 apps from my old ROM, which I don't want . I uninstalled them all, but when I went into Android Market they were still under "installed" and again I can't figure out how to remove them. Now everytime I try to flash a new ROM and sign in with my account it restores all those apps. Not signing into my account works though. How do I remove them, when I flash a new ROM I want it to be fresh, not cluttered with stuff (Kinda like fresh Windows install )
Any thoughts?
Did you do a full wipe when installing the ROM? It shouldn't reinstall the apps then, although any paid for apps will appear in your market by default but not installed.
Yes, I did a full wipe
Even when uninstalling them, they still appear as "installed" in market.
I still haven't been able to figure this out.
Every time I reinstall a ROM/Reset phone and sign in with my account it reloads 30 apps for whatever reason.
I've tried with another Google account (or w/o signing in) and those damn apps didn't install then.
Uninstalling apps doesn't even put them of the "my apps" list.
I somewhat suspect Titanium backup is causing these issues. Under settings I checked "remove market entry" in freezer and un-installer settings, and it still loads those apps. I also tried completly formating my SD card.
Any thoughts, guides,... whatever
The applications are installed because Android Market uses your google account to identify you and keeps a list of apps that you have installed. (Go to Android Market, login with your google account, choose "My Market Account" on the top of the page) This is to help users restoring their apps after an update. The list isn't always up to date though.
To avoid installing the apps after flashing a new rom, skip adding your google account until you go to Settings -> Privacy and uncheck Automatic restore. This should do the trick.
And the uninstalled apps will disappear from My apps in the market after a while.
What backup u deleted and how u deleted that backup,do u checked available internal memory after deleting back up.pls reply i am having same problem

[Q] Re-enabling RSS Apps

I backed up all my apps in Titanium and CWM before migrating from EG22 to EH06. The new version works fine after restoring apps and data using Titanium. The problem is that now both of my RSS readers (D7 Reader and gReader) get stuck trying to sign into my Google Reader account. The odd part is that the widgets seem to update the unread count, but I can't actually read them because the apps themselves won't move past the sign-in loops. I've tried deleting the data for the apps, and I've event tried uninstalling and reinstalling the apps, but the issue still persists. Internet browser applications work perfectly, so I know that it's not my internet connection. My only conclusion is that something else in the phone software (something that controls app access to the internet or to Google accounts) has the problem. As such, I should be able to go through Titanium and freeze/wipe anything that could cause the problem and proceed from there. However, I don't know where to start isolating the culprit.
Any ideas?

After you completely uninstall both apps go into /data/data and see if there are any leftover files for the apps if so delete them. And then reboot and reinstall and let me know what happens. I had it happen to me sometimes filesystem changes such as that retain their problematic nature until rebooted a few times.

Same sign-in loops as of early this morning. I'll try Odin'ing back to stock EH06, and trying again from there.
I've gone all the way back to Odin the stock EH06. I then flashed maddoggin's CleanBlue mod, and used Titanium to only restore any apps that weren't already loaded onto the phone. This should have stopped any system files from being overwritten. From there, I tried to open the D7 Reader. Same sign-in loop. I uninstalled the program, looked for any lingering data files (there were none), restarted the phone, then reinstalled the app. Still the same sign-in loop.
Am I missing something here? I've tried everything I can think of to isolate the problem, but there has to be something lingering that I'm missing.
Any other thoughts?
EDIT: Google Reader (the source) logs in fine, as does Pulse (3rd party reader). That means that it HAS to be something deep in Data concerning D7 and gReader that I'm unaware of.

[Q] Phone is not seen in the playstore account

hey guys, so a month or so ago I flashed a new rom. I think I messed up with the restore though because I remember that Titanium Backup asked if I wanted to update my android ID.
I did.
Everything that i use everyday works fine - EXCEPT - two things that I have noticed.
chrome to phone doesnt work (instant unable to connect error)
And pushing apps from the app store on the web doesnt work (although the playstore on my phone works fine)
I also noticed in the settings of the play store (web based) that it is not showing my phone as being connected anymore.
To be more precise, the "last used" column just has " - - "
So I'm guessing I boned the android ID.
So I did a complete wipe and reinstalled the rom from scratch. Did not restore any apps from the market or from TiBu.
The phone will not show up on the webbased version of the store.
I added my secondary gmail account and it saw it! I was able to push. This is good, but I have purchased apps from the other account.
I wanted to test it out, so i factory reset and added my secondary gmail account as my main.
Now THAT wont push! I have no idea whats going on and how to correct this issue.

Question Play Store: unable to log in to account

Hello everyone.
I can't install or update any apps because Play Store doesn't see any Google account - it says I need to log in but I am already in.
I think I know what happened. My friend wanted to delete some apps (docomo, Google) which he doesn't need and after factory reset docomo apps were installed but some Google weren't.
So, could you tell me which apps are installed (with APK names if possible) on the device at start?

If your friend just deleted those apps from within your devices settings app, a factory reset will restore those apps again.
System apps are only permanently lost if they are removed with high privileges (having root access).
Can't you log in manually in play store or remove your current account from the phone and then reconnect it?
Also, did it help to delete the data of play store as well as cache?
