[Q] Phone is not seen in the playstore account - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

hey guys, so a month or so ago I flashed a new rom. I think I messed up with the restore though because I remember that Titanium Backup asked if I wanted to update my android ID.
I did.
Everything that i use everyday works fine - EXCEPT - two things that I have noticed.
chrome to phone doesnt work (instant unable to connect error)
And pushing apps from the app store on the web doesnt work (although the playstore on my phone works fine)
I also noticed in the settings of the play store (web based) that it is not showing my phone as being connected anymore.
To be more precise, the "last used" column just has " - - "
So I'm guessing I boned the android ID.
So I did a complete wipe and reinstalled the rom from scratch. Did not restore any apps from the market or from TiBu.
The phone will not show up on the webbased version of the store.
I added my secondary gmail account and it saw it! I was able to push. This is good, but I have purchased apps from the other account.
I wanted to test it out, so i factory reset and added my secondary gmail account as my main.
Now THAT wont push! I have no idea whats going on and how to correct this issue.

[RESOLVED][Q] Unable to add a Google account - A long story [Edit hosts file]

So it started a couple of days ago when I noticed that my Google Maps is not downloading data at all. Google Maps used to be my great companion while trying to know my way around in a new place. I used to mark places and do what not. So, when it stopped working on mobile data, I thought let me wait till I connect to WiFi and fix whatever is bothering it. But no, it didn’t work.
I noticed in Accounts and Sync that my Google account is not in sync any longer. I try but the last sync time/date stays unchanged no matter how I try: WiFi, mobile data, internet pass-through. It just does not sync. Assuming it to be a problem with my Google account, I fire up my laptop and type my credentials on Gmail. Behold! After a wait of more than usual time, I see that my browser cant find the page. I leave the tab open, and try to enter Gmail and I am in. No glitch. I sign out and try again. Same thing: it never logs in when I hit Sign In button. I link this issue to my phone sync and forgot it. Since I work (and live too) in China, it was safe to assume that Google is under heat.
I sync my other personal Gmail account with Windows Live Mail. I noticed that I can login to my personal account (web browser on a laptop) effortlessly. When I try my other Google account on my laptop (account I use with Android), it does not log me in. I work-around it and change my password. I tried to log in but same problem.
I go to my phone assuming it will ask me for a password change, IT DOESN’T. I just doesn’t sync. I try to remove my account from Android to add it again but IT WONT DELETE or be modified. Every time I try to add a new Google account, I get the message: “Can’t establish a reliable data connection to the server” on WiFi, Mobile Data, Internet Pass-through. Nothing works and all bring up the same message. I get pissed off. So then on, I spend two days doing all this ****:
1. Create a new Gmail account and try to add a secondary account on my DHD: FAILED
2. Delete the which-was-working-earlier-account from Google (laptop) and try to sync Android: FAILED
3. Try to add account in MARKET, GMAIL and GTALK Apps: FAILED
Being a happy to go flasher and happy with RCMix Runny 1.3, I get really serious:
4. Wipe using recovery and restore to month old RCMix Bliss 1.3 nandroid backup. FAILED to sync with deleted Google account. Does not ask for change of anything. Just connection reliability error. Add new Google account: FAILED.
5. FULL WIPE and reinstall RCMix Runny 1.5. New setup. Add newly created working Google account during setup: FAILED
6. Try step 4 again after double wipe and everything. FAILED
7. Download ‘Revolution Super Wiper’ and wipe DHD twice. Install RCMix Runny 1.5. Try to add Google account: FAILED
8. Wipe with Super Wipe and install ARHD 6.1.2. Add new Google account: FAILED
9. Super Wipe, almost format SD Card, install ARHD 6.1.2 without SIM card Add Google account: FAILED
10. Give up and rant here in the forum.
Here is what works:
1. I CAN add a Google/Hotmail account in MAIL app. Everything works fine. No issues whatsoever.
2. I am connected on WiFi, Data Connection, Internet Pass-through. Checked and verified. No internet connection issues whatsoever.
Here is what I cannot try:
1. Use the Youtube workaround mentioned almost everywhere: though I did try to fire up the Youtube App.
It leaves very little to guess: if I can write about this for 10 straight minutes, I have ‘wasted’ a lot of my time trying to look for a fix and trying to fix this issue. I may be missing something terribly stupid or something really is wrong.
Who can help?
RESOLVED:
Updated the host file with a line :
74.125.93.113 android.clients.google.com
and I am through adding my new Google account.
Thank you so much... After reading a lot on web, n wasting my whole 2 days i finally got the solution.. I had to root my phone, but that was nothing to solve this problem.. thanks a lot...
I wonder what caused the issue in the first place.
This shouldn't happen by default, but I'm glad you found a workaround and I'm sure a lot of folks will find it useful.
Cheers

Apps missing after flashing first ROM

Missing apps after Flashing my first rom
Hi
I did everything I was supposed to do, used CWM manually to wipe data/factory, went from jellybean 4.11 to CNA 3.6 and chose the gapps package without picassa + camera extras.
I used TBackup Pro (apps and data) and did a nandroid and saved my complete Sd card contents to my pc for safekeeping. Then I did the flashing
I thought gapps had ALL the google apps included...
Some apps did not reinstall like Google Play (music player) which was a system app and the play store says it isnt available in my country (canada). I never had the cloud feature as far as I know in the official JB rom, just the music player.
Other system type apps were probably different versions ie email client, clock, gallery, stock browser, currents, android keyboard, exchange services...anyway all of those have a line through them in TBackup.
Also,, I thought all my desktop layout/folders would be preserved like it did once before when I unlocked bootloader and rooted.
So... looking at Tbackup in the restore section it has restore all system data 73 instances..is that the same as app data? Is this the data/settings I restore for the apps?
I thought all my settings and stuff would/could be preserved, I even tried to pull it out of the nandroid via Tbackup.. sat there for an hour trying to restore 1 app (email) while the busy indicator kept swirling.
Seems like backing up apps is redundant as my google account restores them. I want the data /saved settings etc.
What am I missing here?..obviously it didnt go like the videos i watched.
And HOW the heck do I get the stock google music player back onto this install?
BTW this is a nice rom. no problems so far and very customizeable.

Use something like Market Enabler to spoof a U.S. carrier, and then download it.

As for your other issues, you need to read up on Titanium Backup.
1) You shouldn't restore system apps/data across different ROM versions;
2) You should only restore user app data when the app is the same version;
3) Yes, you are correct, you do not need to restore apps if you are going to download them from the Play Store.
Thx Efrant...well I was able to find and download 3 different versions of it and place on my sdcard, It launched but would not install...even when I was completely offline. I read in one thread where someone suggested putting it in /system/apps but I never saw any results in that thread regarding the suggestion.
I saw a few proxy type apps which seemed only to work with a browser.
I found market enabler...loaded it with T-Mobile info..cleared my play store cache, and was able to download...but got an unknown error -24 during install.
any suggestions?

[Q] CWM backup causes device-manager problems

Good evening,
I just bought a second (used) Galaxy Nexus as a reserve and restored a CWM Backup from my main device.
So far no problem, but both in the Play Store and in the android device-manager, the two devices get listed as only one.
When I install apps using my desktop PC and the Play Store, the app ends up on both devices, and when i let the device-manager call the device, also both devices ring.
I would prefer if every device have got its own entry
Deleting and re-entering my Google Account on the reserve-device wasn't a solution, exactly like the un- and re-installing of the Google device-manager-app.
Do you know how Google identifies the devices and i can fix the problem?
Have you changed your device host name?
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
Thanks, but it didn't help, i added a "new" to the hostname, rebooted the device, deleted and re-added my google account, but there is still no change in the device-manager

Make sure Titanium Backup is installed. Then remove all Google accounts.
Open Titanium Backup -> Menu -> Under Your Device "Manage Android ID" -> Create new (random) Android ID
Hopefully this works.
Mh, thanks, but it didn't help either...
I installed Titanium Backup, deleted the google Account, rebooted the device, created a new Android ID, rebooted again and added the google account again, but the android device manager still knows only one device.

[SMT310] not downloading attachments through android email app. 4.4.2 kitkat

Os is rooted stock build with sd write enabled. It's my mom's tablet she only uses it for basic surfing and email with family and it's been running ship shape for about 2 years now. I only rooted it to regain sd access and xposed it to kill ads on youtube and apps but just recently the stock android email app has started refusing to download attachments namely (and I haven't tried with pdfs or audio files) pictures. It shows the picture size in kilobytes and I hit preview in the email app, it does its thing with the downloading progress bar and proceeds to show me the attached image below. It also shows this within gallery. I have since moved over her address to the Gmail app and it works fine downloading attachments and saving them to the gallery correctly.
So what gives? Like I said it is rooted but the only things I've done are what I said and she hasn't done anything. I tried removing and re adding her account and quintripple checked the sync settings and download attachments setting with no success. Any ideas on what the issue is? I'm hoping to avoid a reflash but if I have to I will twrp it and get a nandroid back up of everything just in case and proceed to only restore user data afterwards once a reflash is successful. But I want to avoid that. I've also cleared data on the email app only to have to re add her email account with no success in downloading attachment like it used to before. And btw it's been rooted all this time nothing has changed other than her email app suddenly doing this when it was fine a week or 2 ago

Some Google Services Refuse to Sync

Hello Everyone. I have a Samsung Captivate Glide i927 (AT&T). It was running Omni ROM 4.4 but since the latest Google Play Services update keeps 'crashing' the phone (multiple pop-ups stating that Google Play Services has stopped), I have decided to go back to stock ICS 4.0.4
The problem now is that my Google account isn't syncing properly. My contacts, calendar, Keep notes are unable to sync. I keep getting an error that states that 'Sync is having problems.' I also can't connect to the Google account from certain apps like WhatsApp & SwiftKey keyboard and as a result, I can neither back my chats to Google Drive nor download my customs words for the SwiftKey keyboard app. I can however use the Google Drive app normally. The Play Store also works properly.
I have done everything that I can think of (& read online). They are:
1. Deleting the Google Play Services cache.
2. Emptied the phone's cache. I also formatted it & the Dalvik cache in CWM.
3. Removed my Google account from the phone. Restarted & added the Google account.
4. Reset the phone to factory settings.
5. Re-flashed the official/stock 4.0.4 ROM by using Odin.
6. Changed my Google account password to 'force' everything to 'reset' and resync.
7. I have added a hash prefix to the localhost IP address in the hosts file in the 'etc' folder. I have also deleted it.
Syncing still doesn't work for those services. I am at my wit's end. Please can anyone suggest a solution?
Thanks.
