Activated Pixel 2 XL on Sprint a week ago and everything has been running well. on 10/30 I noticed some incoming MMS picture messages have been unable to download. Also noticed that I cannot send out MMS messages. I am using Signal (but have also tried the stock Messenger app and Textra).
Have done a couple of chat sessions and phone calls with Sprint tech support and after many reboots, factory reset and network updates I am still left scratching my head on what has gone wrong.
I did see the T-Mobile thread similar to this where people mention changing APN settings but I do not seem to be able to see any APN settings on the Pixel 2.
Wanted to update:
Mysteriously mms started to come through correctly a couple of hours ago with nothing done on my end.

So I switched from Sprint to T-Mobile about 2 months ago...
Ever since I switched, I have been having massive issues.
The first issue happened while on the stock ROM 3 weeks in. For 2 hours, my phone didnt ring or receive any texts. When I made a phone call after those 2 hours, I got a dozen texts in and a few voicemails all in the span of 1 minute. My friends had been trying to call and SMS me for those 2 hours and my phone only received them when I "woke" it up with that phone call.
Then last Friday, I had 3 different people tell me they had SMS'd me and I hadn't received those texts.
Then today, I sent a simple MMS text to about 20 people wishing them happy Thanksgiving. Everyone on T-Mobile got them. On AT&T and Verizon phones, most of my friends got blank texts. I tried to resend it, but they either received a tiny version of the image or another blank text.
On top of ALL this, I am getting duplicate texts from people randomly.
It can't be the phone, as I had to replace it under insurance a week ago (when i accidentally cracked the screen). And it can't be the ROM, as this has happened to me under stock ROM, DarthStalker, and Wicked.
I called T-Mobile and entered a ticket last night about this. This is a HUGE issue. While I love my phone and the fast data speeds, missing SMS (and phone calls) is a game ender.. On the first night I had this happen, I had a date waiting in my lobby for over an hour thinking I stood her up when I didnt respond to her texts. I've gotten in similar trouble with other missing texts.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
I would try clearing the data from the sms mms app data in settings/general/application manager and see if that does anything. You may loose your texts though or you can back them up using helium text backup in the play store. If that doesn't work I would completely remove the sec.Mms.apk and re-install it. I like to use the sec.Mms.apk from the darth rom as it adds in the option for screen on/off notification when a incoming text arrives,
I haven't had serious SMS/MMS issues, except that it's slow and the occasional double message. It has always been that way, no matter what phone or ROM. Some T-mo thing when the data signal is ifffy, maybe their server didn't get a receipt acknowledgement from our devices because of the low signal quality. (My guesstimate anyway). Make sure your APN settings are good.
Name : T-Mobile LTE

I agree that it's service issue rather than a problem with the phone itself. For the last three weeks, I've been going back and forth with T-Mobile because suddenly two of my kids and I couldn't send texts or get caller ID on our S3s. And when I first received my Note 3, I didn't receive any mobile data for a week. They've had me swap SIMs, rebooted countless times, had the engineers 'reset the rate plan' a few times, and we're still having problems on one of the S3s. I'm in the NE Illinois region, if that's any help.
Alright, here's my story, after switching from Sense to CM11 when I first got my HTC One a few months ago things were working alright, then at some point I lost the ability to send or receive mms messages. I looked online and found that there were a few people with the same problem, most said the problem had to do with the apn settings, the solution to was either modified apn settings or using an alternate messaging program, such as 8sms.
Anyways, I tried several different apn setups to try and get my mms back, my LTE internet worked, but no mms. Eventually I found a setup that allowed me to send a mms to someone, but not receive one. I figured that was a good as I was going to get it.
After a few OTA nightly updates I decided to tinker with the apn settings again; my hope being that one of the new nightlies would have fixed the problem if I restored my apn settings to default. This didn't help and cost me the ability to even send mms. Needless to say I scoured the web to find usable apn settings again (I prefer to use the stock messaging app), eventually I ended up Frankensteining several together and found a solution that allowed for me to send and receive mms, as well as my LTE internet!:laugh::laugh:
[TL/DR]
Found APN settings that enable sending and receiving mms, as well as LTE internet (with a lte subscription, it's not a hack or anything).
Android Version - 4.4.2

I'm on the cm11 nightlies for m7vzw and did this and still can't send MMS. any ideas?
Hi everyone,
I just bought my G4 the other day I am running the stock ROM still. This morning I ran into an issue where no one is receiving my text messages. My wife is on sprint also with an iPhone and she is able to send messages just fine so we're pretty sure this is not a network issue. I don't get any errors. In fact it looks like the message is sent but the recipient just never gets it.. I tried calling sprint. They did some she of reset to fix it and had me reboot but that didn't since the issue. I Aldi reset the profile and that didn't fix it either. Shirt of at a loss at this point. Any suggestions would rule.
Issue resolved. Somehow the network setting under settings > more > network mode was set to global. I changed it back to LTE/CDMA and messages went through
Hi folks,
I've got a new problem that started after I updated my D851 from (stock/rooted) Lollipop to (stock/rooted) Marshmallow.
When I'm home, I've got a decent LTE signal (ATT, though using the T-Mobile phone variant). But since I'm home, my phone connects to my wifi and uses it for data. I have no problem making/receiving calls or SMS texts to a single person at a time.
However, as long as I'm connected to WIFI (with my cellular signal present but not used for data due to the WIFI), neither MMS nor group texts work. In the stock Messages app, or the Messaging app I actually usually use, these MMS or group texts sit there as "sending..."
If I turn off the wifi, the cellular data signal is used immediately and the texts go through. Same goes for receiving MMS.
Again, this only happens since the marshmallow update that I applied a couple weeks ago.
I have not found a fix. I found lots of people complaining, and a few proposed solutions, like changing the APN so that the APN Protocol would be set to IPv4/IPv6 instead of the default IPv4. See here for that reference, though it didn't work for me:
https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/61843?tstart=0
Anybody have a fix for this? it's a real problem particularly for incoming messages. I can always toggle wifi off if I want to send something, but not knowing when something is coming in gets to be a problem. SMS from single conversations come through.
Please help me troubleshoot this. I've googled my fingers to the bone and while I've found reports of issues like this going back years, no actual solutions that work for me.
HELP!
There's one workaround so far... using Textra as the messaging app. It has an option called the T-Mobile Wifi Calling fix (in Settings/MMS/scroll down to bottom). Even though my wifi calling is set to off, since I'm on ATT, enabling this setting in Textra automatically toggles off WiFi to send MMS/group sms, and it does the same when it detects an attempted incoming MMS.
I much prefer the Google Messages app, for a variety of reasons, and I'm looking to figure out a real fix rather than this workaround. Any help most appreciated.
Anyone else having issues with MMS working since the latest update? I updated to NX659J_ECommon_V3.13 and ever since I can't get my MMS working. Everything else works like SMS and internet, but I can't send picture messages or group text. Before the update I was able to send MMS just fine, but I had stopped using the phone for about 2 months. This is because there were to many issues with the OS for me to use it as my daily driver (no custom Launchers, can't have battery percentage in the notification bar, NFC didn't work with google pay, no face unlock). I saw that this update fixed all these things, so I quickly grabbed my phone and updated to it. And I can say that all of those issues have been resolved (well I don't know about google pay as I haven't gone to the store yet to test, but I guess it is). The thing is now, my MMS doesn't work. I have gone through all the messaging settings on the phone and looked at my APNs and made sure they were correct. Spent an 1 1/2 hour on the phone with T Mobile going over those same settings and APNs yesterday. I'm pretty sure the issue is the phone/update because the SIM works fine in my other phones. I really am hoping for another update or that someone has a quick fix because I would really like to make this phone my main phone. It's a great phone, with a good build quality and get specs. I got 5G on this thing and with the custom launcher, all the grips about the OS are pretty much mute. But it just seems to always have 1 (or more things) that don't work. Anyone else dealing with this or have any ideas? Below are my phone specs.
Model: NX659J
Red Magic OS: V3.0
Build Number NX659J_ENCommon_V3.13
Launcher: Nova Launcher
Message App: Messages by Google
Cellular Provider: T-Mobile
I'm on ATT in SoCal and am not having any issues with MMS.
Have you installed any VPN or ad block apps?
MMS working fine in Canada with v.3.13 - I'm using Textra though, but I'm sure Messages is working fine too.
APN settings would be my first suspect, otherwise, double check your carrier has it enabled for your account.

Nope. I had a couple different messaging apps on it, so I uninstalled those to make sure that those weren't causing the issue. I might just do a factory reset on it.

I did all of the APN settings check and I have MMS enabled on my account. I ended up just doing a factory reset on the phone and now everything works. Thanks for you suggestions.
Hello everyone, I'm in Canada and as soon as I did the software upgrade to 3.13 3 days ago I can no longer connect to my mobile network for data and mms, calls and text work,WiFi is fine so far, I did a factory reset. I did call my provider and double checked that all was good on their end and apparently it is, except the fact that my EMEI number from my phone can not be entered on their system. I was wondering if that is the problem. Also setting up APN address does not work I get an error message " carrier does not allow APNs of type *. Any ideas of what is going on...
Thanks everyone
