Hi everyone,
I just bought my G4 the other day I am running the stock ROM still. This morning I ran into an issue where no one is receiving my text messages. My wife is on sprint also with an iPhone and she is able to send messages just fine so we're pretty sure this is not a network issue. I don't get any errors. In fact it looks like the message is sent but the recipient just never gets it.. I tried calling sprint. They did some she of reset to fix it and had me reboot but that didn't since the issue. I Aldi reset the profile and that didn't fix it either. Shirt of at a loss at this point. Any suggestions would rule.
Issue resolved. Somehow the network setting under settings > more > network mode was set to global. I changed it back to LTE/CDMA and messages went through

I got a friend of mine to switch from an iPhone to an S3 and he called me yesterday explaining that he is having trouble getting all MMS text messages ( and sometimes regular texts too). He eventually gets them but they are hours later. He is using Go SMS but the stock messaging app is not working any better.
I went through all my settings with him to make sure he was set up the same as I am and he was. So I cannot figure out why he is getting all his MMS texts so late.
Sometimes he gets a message that says there is a media download and gives and expiration time but there is no attachment with it.
Anyone have any ideas?

I had the same issue when I switched from iPhone to my s3.... Ask him if his mobile data is ON. if not the phone will not download the attachment even if on wifi the mobile data has to be on for it to work.
Also make sure his data plan has been changed to a lte plan.

Make sure that the date, time, and time zone settings are correct
I switched from the iphone 4 to the SIII and I too had this same issue.
My buddy who also had an iphone was trying to text me but I would get it hours late. Remember when Iphone users could start messaging each other without the cost of text? I have a strong feeling this was the issue. I actually didn't do anything to fix the problem, it last about 5 days and with enough usage of the phone I finally started to get my texts on time.
I've got an AT&T GN2 running the stock 4.1.2 rom on top of the Perseus 3.0.36 (Alpha-36) kernel. I don't receive many MMS, so at first I thought it was a network issue. This evening I got several notifications that I had MMS that failed to download. It appears that I can not receive from iOS devices at all, and a picture sent from my friend's HTC OneX failed initially, but downloaded on the second attempt. I'm using the "Messaging" app that came installed on the device, not the AT&T Messaging app. I've rebooted and pulled the battery. I've tried switching WiFi on and off, and connected to my home network with no apparent change in symptoms. I can send pictures through MMS just A-OK. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Any ideas?
My friend has the same issue some say go to settings/more settings/mobile networks/access point names then press soft key press reset to default then reboot. It didn't solve my problem but it might solve yours. Or use Google hangouts. I know that it's been awhile but maybe someone else will stroll by.
Update: it turns out that he had a bad imei number set up, ATT is sending him a replacement.

So I switched from Sprint to T-Mobile about 2 months ago...
Ever since I switched, I have been having massive issues.
The first issue happened while on the stock ROM 3 weeks in. For 2 hours, my phone didnt ring or receive any texts. When I made a phone call after those 2 hours, I got a dozen texts in and a few voicemails all in the span of 1 minute. My friends had been trying to call and SMS me for those 2 hours and my phone only received them when I "woke" it up with that phone call.
Then last Friday, I had 3 different people tell me they had SMS'd me and I hadn't received those texts.
Then today, I sent a simple MMS text to about 20 people wishing them happy Thanksgiving. Everyone on T-Mobile got them. On AT&T and Verizon phones, most of my friends got blank texts. I tried to resend it, but they either received a tiny version of the image or another blank text.
On top of ALL this, I am getting duplicate texts from people randomly.
It can't be the phone, as I had to replace it under insurance a week ago (when i accidentally cracked the screen). And it can't be the ROM, as this has happened to me under stock ROM, DarthStalker, and Wicked.
I called T-Mobile and entered a ticket last night about this. This is a HUGE issue. While I love my phone and the fast data speeds, missing SMS (and phone calls) is a game ender.. On the first night I had this happen, I had a date waiting in my lobby for over an hour thinking I stood her up when I didnt respond to her texts. I've gotten in similar trouble with other missing texts.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
I would try clearing the data from the sms mms app data in settings/general/application manager and see if that does anything. You may loose your texts though or you can back them up using helium text backup in the play store. If that doesn't work I would completely remove the sec.Mms.apk and re-install it. I like to use the sec.Mms.apk from the darth rom as it adds in the option for screen on/off notification when a incoming text arrives,
I haven't had serious SMS/MMS issues, except that it's slow and the occasional double message. It has always been that way, no matter what phone or ROM. Some T-mo thing when the data signal is ifffy, maybe their server didn't get a receipt acknowledgement from our devices because of the low signal quality. (My guesstimate anyway). Make sure your APN settings are good.

I agree that it's service issue rather than a problem with the phone itself. For the last three weeks, I've been going back and forth with T-Mobile because suddenly two of my kids and I couldn't send texts or get caller ID on our S3s. And when I first received my Note 3, I didn't receive any mobile data for a week. They've had me swap SIMs, rebooted countless times, had the engineers 'reset the rate plan' a few times, and we're still having problems on one of the S3s. I'm in the NE Illinois region, if that's any help.
I got my G3 today and everything seemed to work fine until I realized none of my texts were going through. Whether I use Verizon's junk Messages+, the stock sms app, or hangouts, none of my texts go through. However, phone calls work, and I even received a service text from Verizon. Any ideas? Same deal on both Dalvik and ART.

Double check your APN settings and/or give big red a ring. Possibly more of a network issue than a device issue.

Ended up working just fine about an hour later after activation. So I think you're right... Just had to wait it figure itself out.
Had the Same Problem
After installing my SIM and calling Verizon to initialize the phone number it took a good while for the SMS to start working. I was getting concerned and it eventually started working on its own. So, if you have a new Verizon phone you may need to wait a while after initializing for the SMS to start working. I think it was about half an hour for me, but I was messing with a lot of stuff with the phone so I may have a bad perception of how long it took.
Activated Pixel 2 XL on Sprint a week ago and everything has been running well. on 10/30 I noticed some incoming MMS picture messages have been unable to download. Also noticed that I cannot send out MMS messages. I am using Signal (but have also tried the stock Messenger app and Textra).
Have done a couple of chat sessions and phone calls with Sprint tech support and after many reboots, factory reset and network updates I am still left scratching my head on what has gone wrong.
I did see the T-Mobile thread similar to this where people mention changing APN settings but I do not seem to be able to see any APN settings on the Pixel 2.
Wanted to update:
Mysteriously mms started to come through correctly a couple of hours ago with nothing done on my end.
