Anyone else having issues with MMS working since the latest update? I updated to NX659J_ECommon_V3.13 and ever since I can't get my MMS working. Everything else works like SMS and internet, but I can't send picture messages or group text. Before the update I was able to send MMS just fine, but I had stopped using the phone for about 2 months. This is because there were to many issues with the OS for me to use it as my daily driver (no custom Launchers, can't have battery percentage in the notification bar, NFC didn't work with google pay, no face unlock). I saw that this update fixed all these things, so I quickly grabbed my phone and updated to it. And I can say that all of those issues have been resolved (well I don't know about google pay as I haven't gone to the store yet to test, but I guess it is). The thing is now, my MMS doesn't work. I have gone through all the messaging settings on the phone and looked at my APNs and made sure they were correct. Spent an 1 1/2 hour on the phone with T Mobile going over those same settings and APNs yesterday. I'm pretty sure the issue is the phone/update because the SIM works fine in my other phones. I really am hoping for another update or that someone has a quick fix because I would really like to make this phone my main phone. It's a great phone, with a good build quality and get specs. I got 5G on this thing and with the custom launcher, all the grips about the OS are pretty much mute. But it just seems to always have 1 (or more things) that don't work. Anyone else dealing with this or have any ideas? Below are my phone specs.
Model: NX659J
Red Magic OS: V3.0
Build Number NX659J_ENCommon_V3.13
Launcher: Nova Launcher
Message App: Messages by Google
Cellular Provider: T-Mobile
I'm on ATT in SoCal and am not having any issues with MMS.
Have you installed any VPN or ad block apps?
MMS working fine in Canada with v.3.13 - I'm using Textra though, but I'm sure Messages is working fine too.
APN settings would be my first suspect, otherwise, double check your carrier has it enabled for your account.

Nope. I had a couple different messaging apps on it, so I uninstalled those to make sure that those weren't causing the issue. I might just do a factory reset on it.

I did all of the APN settings check and I have MMS enabled on my account. I ended up just doing a factory reset on the phone and now everything works. Thanks for you suggestions.
Hello everyone, I'm in Canada and as soon as I did the software upgrade to 3.13 3 days ago I can no longer connect to my mobile network for data and mms, calls and text work,WiFi is fine so far, I did a factory reset. I did call my provider and double checked that all was good on their end and apparently it is, except the fact that my EMEI number from my phone can not be entered on their system. I was wondering if that is the problem. Also setting up APN address does not work I get an error message " carrier does not allow APNs of type *. Any ideas of what is going on...
Thanks everyone

I got my G3 today and everything seemed to work fine until I realized none of my texts were going through. Whether I use Verizon's junk Messages+, the stock sms app, or hangouts, none of my texts go through. However, phone calls work, and I even received a service text from Verizon. Any ideas? Same deal on both Dalvik and ART.

Double check your APN settings and/or give big red a ring. Possibly more of a network issue than a device issue.

Ended up working just fine about an hour later after activation. So I think you're right... Just had to wait it figure itself out.
Had the Same Problem
After installing my SIM and calling Verizon to initialize the phone number it took a good while for the SMS to start working. I was getting concerned and it eventually started working on its own. So, if you have a new Verizon phone you may need to wait a while after initializing for the SMS to start working. I think it was about half an hour for me, but I was messing with a lot of stuff with the phone so I may have a bad perception of how long it took.
Hey guys, does anyone have any input on sending MMS messages through Verizon? I can receive messages but I can't send them. I'm using Textra and it says it detected my settings and all that good stuff. I also tried the default messenger but neither will send. I tried rebooting, sending to different people, etc, etc.
I'm not sure what I'm missing.. I looked through the general guides as to what the settings are supposed to be and it looks like they are all what they should be. Not sure what to try next.
I have a Pixel XL, running NDE63V, rooted, with the ElementalX .08 kernel. Nothing else really special.
EDIT: Btw I tried sending group messages also which won't go through either.. in order to confirm that it wasn't a file size limitation error..
Thanks guys,

It has to be a proxy / SMS setting. Go to settings - Wireless and networks -> Cellular Net - Access Point names and post a screen shot.
That will tell us exactly what is wrong :good:
That's what I thought too.. right now it's all set to whatever is set by default. I tried changing the settings to represent what is here and still nothing.
https://bestmvno.com/apn-settings/verizon-wireless-apn-settings/
Right now I have it reset back to the default settings. (shown in the attached screenshots)
I tried using textra's mms override settings also.. same problem. Not sure what the heck is going on here.
I just moved my sim card from my nexus 6p over to my new pixel xl a few days ago.. everything else works voice, data, receiving mms, etc.
Would there be a setting on their end that needs to be reset for some reason? I hate calling them but if I need to I will.
Stupid me.. one of the host files in my adaway lists was not allowing the connection. I knew it had to be something silly like that. Problem solved.. thank you very much for your response however.
I'm having a frustrating issue with the stock Android Messages app. My work sends notification texts via email, ie. from a gmail account to "mynumber"@tmomail.net.
The Android Messages app (stock android sms app), will not download these texts. I've been troubleshooting this all week and continue to come up empty, here is a breakdown of symptoms and what I have tried:
-My phone does notify me that a message is received, but requires me to tap to attempt to download the message, but the download always fails.
-Auto-download MMS is enabled, app is up to date
-third party apps WORK (kinda, see textra screenshot. message is delivered along with a weird code)
-if there is a subject in the email, the subject WILL display in the text, but not the body
-Safe Mode does not fix it
-phone is Pixel XL from Play store on T-Mobile
-issue happened on stock unrooted phone with all updates
-after exhausting all options I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and Pure Nexus rom, issue did not go away
-have deleted and edited all APNs countless times changing damn near every option to no avail
-have tried on and off wi-fi, with and without wi-fi calling, no changes
-normal MMS works fine (picture texts, group texts)
-have tried same APNs and apps on two different devices on my plan (V20 and S6 edge), and this issue cannot be duplicated. tmomail messages works fine on those phones with the exact same settings as on my Pixel
That's basically it. Hopefully I'm missing something simple. Please help if you have any suggestions, I'm open to just about anything. I know the easy fix is to just use Textra or another third party app, but I really don't want to. Also I can't stand not knowing what the problem is!!! Thanks in advance!
What do your apn settings look like
Right now they are reset to default.

Can you edit? Add MMS to apn type, reboot, make sure it sticks and try again

It stuck upon reboot, but no change. Tried it twice.

Hey so I know your post is literally years old but I had been going through the same problem for YEARS before someone at T-Mobile finally figured it out. I figured I would post this to give you a hand and maybe someone else with this problem.
After going back and forth with T-Mobile for, no joke, 2 years on this issue, the fix was finally discovered. It has to do with T-Mobile "Digits". It's a "free" "second line" which is really just an alternate phone number for you to give people on sites like CraigsList if you don't want people to know your real number. You can just use Google Voice for this. Anyway, call T-Mobile and tell them you don't want your Digits number linked to your cell number (at least not for texts) and it will fix the issue.
Drove me crazy for YEARS. Hope this helps you or anyone else out there!
I have a Verizon N910V running LOS 16 and have tested most builds between 8/4/19 to 9/17/19.
When I first install LOS 16 of any build, mms works fine. I can send and receive pictures, etc. But after a few days, just out of the blue, I get this error under my notification bar: "Your carrier has a temporary MMS problem. Tap to retry MMS download"
I use Textra, but I have tried the default messaging app, which gives the same error. What ever causes this, it seems permanent as there seems to be no way to fix it. Any mms I try to send always fails. Usually mobile data and mms are linked to some degree, so if data is working, then mms should be, yet my mobile data still continues to work, just mms fails. Looking at my APN settings, nothing has changed, and anybody that knows anything about Verizon phones knows the APN fields on this model can not ever be changed by the user. Since the error message states the issue is with my carrier, which is Straight Talk, I contacted them. I got transferred to level 2 support and even then, they say everything looks fine, there's nothing else they can do, saying it must be my phone.
So what else can I try, other than just reflashing, which seems to be only a temporary fix. How should I test or try to log this change? What services or apps on a phone could potentially disrupt mms like this? I really don't know where to start.

Anyone else have erratic results with this app? Using it on my s20+ with Tmo us, I can't send txt messages. The store replaced the sim card, still no luck. App works fine on my wife's A71 5g. Switched to the Google messages app and it seems to work fine. I'm a bit puzzled by this. The store tried to tell me that messaging wouldn't work with Wi-Fi calling enabled, but disabling it doesn't seem to be helping. No real problem using Google app, just seems strange.

I have the S20 dual SIM with both Google Fi (TMO Network) and AT&T. I actually switched from Google messages to Samsung messages and have no issues sending our receiving with either Network.
I have the 9810 model.
Thanks for the info. Must be something to do with the version I have or other software on my phone. My messages app is version 11. 1.65.17

I had the same issue before. Biggest pain in the butt. I tried changing sim cards too, asking tmobile to refresh my phone signal with no luck.
What worked for me was deactivating the chat features from the google messages app then waiting like 5 min, just to be safe. Then use my sim card on another phone and turn it on and wait like 5 minutes, for me the refreshing sim data prompt showed up twice. Text some people that use the advanced messages(rcs) with the stock app to make sure it works. Then switch the sim back to my phone and i was able to text the people i used to have issues with fine.
What i figured was the issue was that since you used google messages which used the google jibe servers for rcs, your phone number is still stuck in the servers. I did all that before this form was available to unlink your phone from the jibe servers. Give it a try too.
