mobile hotspot timeout setting SM-t217A - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi ,
i have the AT&T version, which has the moble hotspot removed from the main settings , i have added foxfi and modded the settings database with SQL editor to gain access to notification toggle. If you long press and hold on that , it will take you to a blank entry in settings, you can move back one .. and its the main settings where the mobile hotspot is not avalible , well my problem is the timeout setting is set to 10 min, i want it set to NEVER, but i cant find the timeout settings option where it should be under mobile hotspot , nor can i find it in the settings sql database.
how can i edit the mobile hotspot settings to NEVER , with no GUI option , im looking for maybe an adb option but prefer to just edit the file. I have googled and located the locations of wifi settings and search all of those files but its just not there.
someone halp!
thanks

Can't configure Telstra version for another carrier

I have a Touch Pro 2 Telstra (850/2100 version) that I can't configure the data connection for '3' (2100 roaming to 850) in Australia. The voice over UTMS works fine but the internet does not connect using the carrier specified settings. I have used the same settings and SIM in a Touch HD and Tytn II with no issues.
Try... Settings > All Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced tab > select Network. Create a new connection in the first box, call it Three. In the Modem Tab create new connection, dial *99# and leave all the other optons blank.
I haven't tested it but worth a try. You can delete the connection and go back to original if it doesn't work.
Worked it out (with the help of the Whirlpool.net.au forum). It was a combination of Telstra proxy settings in the Opera.ini file and the default for ActiveSync connection being dedicated rather than Internet.
Yes it took me hours to work out that 'Dedicated' instead of 'Internet' to get my exchange sync to work but your description sounded like a different problem.
BTW my Telstra TP2 does not have any Proxy settings in Opera.ini??
Thank You
I had the very same problem and i figured there would be a config file some where but couldn't find it, ended up just flashing to a winmo 6.5 rom so all good but it was def getting to me. The thing that tipped me of was that internet explorer was working fine but not opera so i ended up using opera 9.7 beta for 6 weeks. Just in case i flash a new htc rom in the future where was the file?
Regards Nick
solution
I have worked it out for myself when fixing another customers phone.
Use activesync to "explore" device, go to the windows folder then to opera9 folder
copy opera.ini file to computer (drag and drop)
edit the file using notepad and remove paragraph with proxy settings approx 3/4 of the way down the page
make sure there is only one space between the remaining paragraphs
drag back into the folder it came from
click yes to overwrite the file
fixed!

You can access the menu by click: setting>wireless&network>mobile network> access point name

what option? if you mean "it's not there", that's the whole point, you need to add it >menu >new APN
you need to check with your telco as to what their MMS settings are
in mobile network settings what i get is data roaming, data roaming sound, enable always - on mobile connectivity, and system select (cdma roaming mode). thats it
i see the settings if i go to the messaging menu (inbox) then press menu - settings - connection settings. but they're inaccessible
Do you have a CDMA or GSM phone?
cdma...................
you really should have mentioned that, it's really very significant!
you need a ROM that supports CDMA phones, you can't just put whatever on there

Proxy Setting Problem

I am trying to set up on my HTC One M9+ to use a proxy.pac file online.
But when I go to my WIFI network e.g. WIFITesting hold the connected wifi network and choose modify network, scroll down to the bottom, press Proxy and choose Proxy Auto-Config, I expect to see additional option which would ask for my pac file URL, but it doesn't show up. I tried few times even on my HTC One M7, neither of them have this option. And after you choose Proxy Auto-Config, the save button is disabled. So the changes can not be saved.
I am wondering if anyone else have the same problem?
I checked Xiaomi 2S, OnePlus One, they are OK.

Vodafone (UK) Wifi Calling on Android 10

Sorted wifi calling on Vodafone UK using https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78858125&postcount=6
Updated to Android 10 (Keep typing Windows 10 which is scary!!!!) and now the option is gone.
When I enter the code and go into phone information Wifi provisioning is greyed out and cannot be turned on.
I have turned wifi calling off via the vodafone app and turn back on again but still no joy.

I didnt have wifi calling at first, i did search for it on settings tab and it re appeared, im vodafone UK also.
Make sure carrier settings is up to date aswell.
Wifi calling is still here
Can someone on vodafone uk compare your wifi calling settings with mine please? Was working before update. Cant move the settings to on.
Thanks to anyone who can
Show your IMS settings, there u see, if u're registered for VoLTE or WFC.
Perhaps anything went wrong with APN settings after update?
Choose back to default on APN settings, or check them manually with the providers one.

Mines provisioned, but they are administrator only, hence greyed out and you cant toggle them yourself, only your carrier unless you root it, try adding clearing carrier settings, if you do you will have to clear the message app aswell, but sync will bring back messages, download shortcutter, navigate to carrier settings and toggle wifi , and also add ims apn, name ims, apn name is ims, set to ipv4 and ipv6 on both, dont fill anything else in and save it. now toggle it, it should jump back to default after you toggled it. If you disabled the wifi tab on vodafone website, each toggle takes 24 hours to register
All sorted. Took 3 attempts with vodafone. The last person said they would force the settings through the server and hey presto. All sorted.
Am now on vodafone settings version ending in 305.2 (It may be of use to someone!)
