Yeah, I did that before even contemplating on getting my stuff over. Now I'm just waiting for the custom recovery and supersu for this phone.
I opened the box and turned it on

I stared at it for hours...
since this is my first usbC device, and the cable provided is C to C, im having to wait for some adapters to take my USBa to mini to C , so i can hopefully ADB into it since i cant find any of my other adapters (would look like a stacked mess), for now, im just playing with it as a boring ole regular person. yeah, those people. regulars. blah. must have case, i feel like i will fart and the screen will shatter. oh, on that note, not one of the over published issues about screen and ticking is on my phone, flawless and impressed so far (coming from the N6).
all we need now is .......ROOOOOOOOOOOT (said by Shatner). no pressure, no pressure *shaking a little*
edit : dongles are in, phone is unlocked. yay. longest ive gone without unlocking.
FanTEK 3-Pack USB Type C 3.1 Male to Micro USB Female Adapter if you have to know, they worked great, testing with other cables now to use for charging at my desk since my tylt charger is now useless and stock charger is bedside for certified sleeping "safety". the other is in a tiny adafruit bag with the provided dongles.
Lick it!
Jump on xda and tell everyone how bad the screen is... then I'll turn it on

I bought one of these: HERE
It doesn't work, so I'm wondering if any one has experience with this cable, it says it's an OTG but I get no power from it.
Does anyone have any ideas?
I tried to plug in several things like my PS3 controller and a HDD but nothing.
I'm wondering if the pin that is supposed to be shorted to ground is on the mini end and not the micro end like we want it to be.
Otherwise I wonder if I I can modify it work rather than send it back?

I lol'd at these two getting owned
But anyway I built my own usingthis and a usb extension. Followed this instructions. So my guess is that the cable you have doesn't have the 5th pin (brown wire) grounded. I butchered a regular micro usb cable just to find out it didn't have the brown wire at all.
Hope this helps!

This is my guess also, but the eBay guy as you can see clearly sells it as an OTG cable. I have been in touch and he says his supplier says it's an OTG but he doesn't have the technical expertise to understand, let alone advise.
I guess the solution is as you say, I went to the workshop, and even tried the local electronics store and it seems you can't buy the micro-usb plug as an individual component so butchering other stuff seems to be the solution.
As for the tutorial, thanks, but I shouldn't need it, otherwise I should probably send back the certificate for my degree in Electronic Engineering that's on my wall, cause I really wouldn't have earned it

Well, the iGo is no good, because they probably don't have the data lines connected, as it's for charging.
The one in your next post on eBay won't fit if it's an CA-157 substitute, I got hte real Nokia CA-157 and the connector is squared off at the end, picture: HERE
however, I did get a file to the end of my CA-157 and filed it to fit, and YES it works (taking a picture now)..... attached.
The cable you linked to on ebay is just a micro usb to a mini usb, an OTG cable is a Micro male to USB female.
4 bucks free shipping: Ebay
Spend 4 more dollars and get one with a cool blinky LED in it:

No problem. I have this and the cable from my OP now working too. I opened it up and found the ID pin was not connected so I soldered it to ground and that works now. SO I have a direct cable for my HDD and a female USB (the filed Ca-157) for other stuff.

So last night (TY Ambien) I decided to use my Logitech Harmony cable to charge my phone... Minutes later the phone kept going in and out of charging mode and now currently will not work at all.
Anyone have any idea what I could possibly do to fix this? No experience with this kind of thing.
Thankfully I forgot to cancel my crap insurance through verizon a few months back and just ordered a new one just in case. Will they say anything about the fact that the phone is rooted?

Don't panic just yet. I have gone through 3 cables already with my Nexus. For some reason micro usb cables get real loose real easily in the Nexus. I have one from Verizon (desperate and paid too much) that fits in there very tightly and always works. So just try a new cable and make sure it has a tight fit.

Unless you can find a way to transfer stock rom files over the network to your usb and flash it from there, but I am not sure if you can lock the bootloader that way.
As a last case resort, I am not advocating this by any means, if your phone let's say weren't able to boot up or turn on at all then verizon wouldn't be able to say it's been rooted, right? I read of a guy who messed up his so bad it would just boot loop and he couldn't even get into recovery. He just took it to the store and played dumb.
as odd as this sounds, get a cocktail stick and push it down onto the left most pin of the usb port (on phone) apply a bit of pressure and then try charging again.

Update - Found my standard battery and popped that in... Phone works, when you try to charge it, it says charging but does not charge and goes down if being used.

You can transfer them over wifi.
Both of my batteries are totally dead now. Looks like I'll be giving asurion $100. Ugh.
Been playing with the watch for about an hour.
First boot:
Needs Android Wear and Moto Connect apps.
Downloads an update.
Needs to be around 80% before it can be used because it needs that battery to install the update.
Android Wear is Android Wear so all the swipes needed to get to things are here.
Size : Not bad at all. I thought it would be bigger but its a nice size. It depends on wrist size of course.
Band : Didn't seem like it is easily replaced. But I don't know a ton about watches. It seems to connect into the watch somewhere, that might be something standard though. Didn't look in the manual to see if there were instructions. (Edit : Included manual doesn't say anything. Site - www.motorola.com/mymoto360 - doesn't seem to be up where there is supposed to be a full user manual)
Battery : Way too early to tell, some drain right up front but there is a lot going on with syncing and all. Need to look at some Android Wear info to see how to get notifications beyond email and Google Now.
Charger : Comes with cable connected to the adapter. (Not a USB cable + Adapter). Screen dims while on charger. Button brightens the screen. Would be nice to see notifications on the charge screen.

Can you flash a picture up of the charger and associated cable please. When looking at the image below it looks like a SB cable plugging into the charging cradle... if so then its a possible way to get fastboot connectivity, if not then I'm back to the drawing board (not that I can do much until late October anyways).

Gotcha, cheers. So looks like PC connectivity would go through the charging cradle. Curious to know if the inductive charging standard they adhere to allows data transfer as well... Motorola must have had some way to debug it when creating firmware etc.

That would mean it would transfer data via bluetooth from the PC. I'm not seeing it connect like that. There would have to be another method.
Thanks for providing pictures and giving some insight for what to expect!

I believe Qi does have data. But it is limited to 2kbps and is used for basic communication.

It seems like you would pop the back off somehow.
Actually seeing how the strap connects to the watch, and seeing exactly what the deal is with the metal straps, is like trying to solve a National mystery. I swear, the Illuminati are laughing at me, wringing their hands, and saying to themselves, "...And you will never know, DUSTY.".

There was a picture of the metal band and it looked like the connecter was non-standard. Like the end was a bit longer. Seems like they could have put some kind of door so you could switch out the bands easier. There has to be a way if they are going to have both leather and metal band versions. And in the Verge interview it seemed like they were planning on having options.
So far my only complaint is just with Android Wear. Like swiping away a gmail from the clock but then wanting to bring it up later. Seems like once it is swiped, that card is gone.

Dead Pixel
Drove all over North Atlanta and got the VERY LAST ONE with the Grey strap...everything seemed cool except for a DEAD PIXEL but I have my receipt and am hoping for an exchange whenever restock hits the stores.
One more thing to note...the device had like 35% charge which allowed me to pair to my Nexus 5 but then started displaying a charge battery notice.
I like the Motorola app that gives me a quick update on the current charge levels...connected to my Energizer QI pad so I think that I will just ditch the cradle charger that it came with unless I travel.

UPDATE: Figured that this may have been a crappy unit...the dead pixel is still there but I did a factory reset and it is downloading an update. When I unboxed and I first turned it on it seemed like it was having issues from the get go...now it seems to be running smooth like a champ albeit 1 bad pixel.

They all do that if not fully charged before turning on. You should be GTG now.
They should really mention the need to charge it before trying to set it up.

Sorry man and not to turn this into any tech support forum but just want to confirm that even if the battery got charged to like 65% there was no way to get past the "Charge your battery" screen unless it is either fully charged or charged to a certain capacity?
I did a factory reset and was able to get to the part where it downloaded an update again, rebooted and then immediately came up to that screen which can't be dismissed. The unit is pretty warm so I have placed it on the dock and will check every hour to see how if fairs...just frustrating that it couldn't even start. I am contemplating getting a refund and seeing how others react to everyday usage. I say this based on the fact that you go to the Moto 360 support site and it doesnt have anything under Help Topics...even after you login with a G+ acct or a Motorola acct.
I understand that statistically 1 out of every 100,000 may be the defect and if that is the case then it is what it is...was really hoping to test out a physical watch finally for an app instead of an emulator.

And BTW thank you very much for your help! Patience will be a virtue in this case.
Not having a single problem with it charging, just surprised you can easily move the cable when plugged in from left to right or up or down, tried 4 different cables, all the same, is this just normal for micro USB to prevent it from being broken by a yank? Thanks in advance.

Same thing for me as well. Doesn't really bother me.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using XDA Free mobile app
I noticed it immediately but I'm trying to ignore it.
Alright so apparently it is normal? Just bothers me as on my Note 2 I eventually had to end up wrapping the charging cord around the phone to hold the charging cord in the port otherwise it wouldn't charge at all (port got SUPER loose), and didn't want that to happen again.
I guess maybe there is "play" in it so that if someone does yank the cord it doesn't just snap off inside, but I have no idea, glad to know I'm not alone though and apparently it is the norm for the Note 4.
Doh, just noticed we can always use the warranty @ AT&T stores to exchange\swap out for up to an entire year, I was paranoid as I thought I only had 14 days and after that it was in Samsungs hands (people that have to deal with Samsung's support seem to end up very unhappy) so I'm far less stressed about it now. I still am considering a Squaretrade warranty, anyone here used them? I keep hearing good things but wasn't sure if they are worth it, but most people seem to get a new phone even if water damaged\broken with 2 days. Anyone here have experience with Squaretrade?
My original device had an issue with charging 2 months ago. Connector would only work in one direction. That ended up with USB charging not working at all and SMOKING hot connector. Headphones didn't work and no connection to PC.
Got replacement obviously. Thought all was well till I tried the headphones adapter. Didn't work. Got new adapter which didn't work either. (Works fine in my Chromebook).
So now ready for factory reset (AGAIN) to verify faulty device/port.
Are these ports/connectors an issue for us? Don't see too many complaints here.

Haven't heard of this. You most probably have a connector/ usb board failure and contacting google will result in a replacement. Sounds like only the power leads have survived, with the data ones dying somehow.

Do you mean, only one side of the USB-C cable can charge your device? Like if you turn it upside down it doesn't charge, but when you flip it back up it does? Only asking as I have that issue and Google doesn't seem too bothered as I've been waiting for their engineers for over 3 weeks now to reply.
This seems to definitely be a problem. I've actually seen a lot of people talk about similar issues. I just got a replacement about a month ago due to my phone not charging with a USB C to C. It wouldn't connect to a computer right either. If you have a second phone with the same issue, unfortunately, I would suggest having Google replace it as well. Request a brand new phone this time letting them know you have the same issue on a replacement. Not sure if a brand new one will be better, but worth a shot. My replacement so far has been great.
Good luck

Yes on my first device, the initial symptom was no charging. Then flip the C connector upside down and it would charge. That situation seemed intermittent. Eventually no charging at all and everything got smoking hot with crispy burn smell at Port.

Yes on my first device, the initial symptom was no charging. Then flip the C connector upside down and it would charge. That situation seemed intermittent. Eventually no charging at all and everything got smoking hot with crispy burn smell at Port.

Thank you for confirming. That's exactly what I am afraid of - I don't want to risk my device to get really hot, start smoking and perhaps even blow up. I'll go ahead and try my best on discussing my options with Google and to get a replacement.
