Hello everyone i'm new here, some time ago i have updated my tablet's android version from 4.3 to 4.4.2 through ota update, after about one month later my tablet started having a weird wifi problem (i don't know if it is related to ota update or not) my tablet shows good wifi signal but it wont connect (it connects only when it is near router's antenna though and this is really weird) and no it is not a router problem because it is the same problem everywhere, i tried EVERYTHING to fix this problem (wifi fixer apps, factory reset, reinstalled android firmware with samsung kies, rooted my tablet and even installed a custom rom) but none of these methods didn't solve the problem.
Does anyone knows how to fix this problem? did i miss something??? could it be a bad kernel? or maybe a bad configuration that should be changed manually, or is it just a hardware problem?
Did you try with stock Lollipop firmware?

Yes many times but this didn't fix the problem, anyway lately i left it to a smartphone service and they said/confirmed that this is a hardware issue, i really hope that they will fix the problem.

my wifi keeps turning off and off when i use it, could it be a hardware problem? how can I fix this?
it could be.. or could also be software.. have you got any battery management apps or task killers set to auto?

im having the same problem, i think it happens for users who have a LT15a and flashed the LT15i firmware, im not sure, but it vould just be the new firmware

No, I don't have any battery management apps or task killers set to auto. How can I find out if its software or hardware?
well for me when i had the rogers firmware, wifi worked without any issues, whenever i flashed the hong kong firmware, it started to cause problems, so im sure its software related
Are you away from the router? I think WiFi turning off because you're too far away from router is common (at least for me).
if you've not unlocked your bootloader then I would recommend a repair via SEUS or PCC.. bit of a pain to set everything up again, but worth it if it solves your problem.

any solution to this problem? I can only stay on wifi for a minute or two then it keeps on disconnecting even though the indicator at the top says im connected. No issues with 3G it is just the wifi that disconnects. I've tried sitting real close to an AP but it doesn't help.

Have you upgraded to 2.3.3?
This supposedly fixes the issue.
I had minimal problems on 2.3.2 when I first bought the Arc but have had none since the upgrade.

I have not yet, I will asap. I guess that should have been my first solution. Been busy at work the past week.
But also I have read some other threads that was not the solution. Anyone else experience this?

I had the same problem, sent it back to vodafone who flashed it to 2.3.3, did not help one bit. I've sent the phone off to sony ericsson now, hopefully they can sort something out.
Hey,
I noticed that around two days ago my HOX started acting up.
It has low to no signal most of the time, no data connection, or it shows the data connection with the "E" letter.
I have rooted it long time ago, and ran RENOVATED rom, and had no problems. it started without me doing any alterations.
So I switched to Revolution to make sure it is not rom related, and the issue persists.
Any ideas what could be the problem? tried searching for it, nothing seemed useful.
Phone details:
Kernel version: 3.1.10
Baseband version: 5.1204.162.29
Build number: 3.14.401.31 CL128187 release-keys
Thanks!
SOLVED: Read below for details.
i suggest changing networks to make sure its not a network related issue
Changing the network, by that you mean trying to change the SIM?
I have tested another SIM and I still had the same issues. and my SIM seemed to be working fine on another device.
GetLIR reported that I have the correct versions. I am really clueless as to what is the problem..

yeah that's what i meant - did you try a factory reset ?
And if that doesn't help either i think you should backup everything and get back to stock then start everything again from square 1 .
why fix it if it ain't broken ?

i cannot say for sure that its a hardware issue but that seems likely as you've said that this whole thing began all of sudden without you messing up anything so you better check with nearby service centre .

Thanks for the help, I have managed to fix it.
I have opened it, and saw that the signal cable was not connected all the way. connected it, put it back and I now have 5 bars. YAY

hi!
thank you for your post, did you by any chance take pictures of where that cable is?
and how dificult it is to reach it?
my phone is under warranty, actually just came from service, and now im having bad signal reception, in the same areas where my previous "i" phone had full bars allways and no problems with signal, no drop outs, nothing,
and with Hox is almost very low, or no signal, and constant breakups in withing calls.
sending it back to service is pain in the ass, its far, postage, time to wait for them to fix it, again....
Ok so in the past hour I've noticed that my phone has disconnected from my wifi a few times. It does connect straight away however when I try to load a page it won't load and I have to wait a little while longer until it works again.
Has anyone else had wifi issues with this device?
Any body have any wifi issues at all?
Yeah I'm having the same issue with my home's wifi.
Doesn't seem to occure at work though(or maybe I haven't noticed it since I do work there).
Talking about the 4g version.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
Apparently this is a common issue with the S4 as well. I did update my routers firmware yesterday and it didn't disconnect at all last night however ill keep watch on it.
have you tried anything to fix it?

I don't want to void the warranty though... I'm thinking it maybe a router issuer and not a firmware one...

Haven't tried anything yet.
I'll probably try flashing the latest fw at some point - which I think doesn't void your warranty.
If you find something out, let us know. I'll do the same.

I've got a new router coming from Sky. (Sky Hub.) I'll see how that acts before I flash my phone.
Let me know how you get on.
Can anyone explain how to get the MH5 Firmware and what steps need to be taken to flash it?
Yes I am too. I made another thread asking if people knew if the 9190, 9192 and 9195 have different wifi antennas. I am really bummed out over this.
Can you describe the wifi issue you have? What FM are you running?
No Wifi issues here.
So I did have issues, but that was the fail of Xposed-Framework, without that framework, there is no problem.
As a matter of fact you are able to stop the Wifi Power Safe Mode und the Service Mod (*#0011#) ... That stops a lot of Issues

I think is hardware related since your WiFi was unable to turn on... Like previous S2. After they updated to ICS ROM, a battery leak which causes their WiFi to malfunction. And by the way. did you dropped your phone before?
See this blog:
http://www.stampede-design.com/blog/2012/07/samsung-galaxy-s2-wifi-issue/#.UoAu5XCD91Y
yes I did drop my phone previously but the malfunction does not follow that ...in both times.....previously and now the malfunction followed my discovery and usage of long touch on the WiFi icon in the sliding menu to reach the WiFi setting and choose network....any way the problem have been resolved previously by "more than firmware installation" as the service center worker told me ......I still do not understand what type of software that remain unchanged after complete firmware installation with re-partitioning.
hello , i have problem with my new htc m9 it cant connect to wifi networks ???
wifi turned on but cant see or connect to any network
my android os 5.0.2
please help
Have you tried a Factory Reset?
Same Problem
Exactly the same problem I think the problem from sim.. Slide out and do restore factory settings... Wifi will appear relates and you can contact. But if you put sim you cant contact and dont see the network.we need update from htc because this problem in some contry
I from syria ????
I'm not having the exact same problem but I am having a problem with WiFi
Yesterday I received my wife's M9 upgrade and started setting it up. I noticed it was going REALLY slow downloading over Wi-Fi, so I activated the SIM and it dropped off the home network. It immediately picked up pace and apps began making download progress. I have more than a dozen other devices working without issue on my home network. When I reconnected it and attempted to reach any website, it just stalls.
Tonight I'll try pulling the SIM out and / or Factory Reset to see if I can get it working.
same problem
i have the same problem what should we do?
I returned my device and got another new one. Immediately out of the box it seemed to be working better but developed similar issues. I disabled a setting named minimize battery use on Wi-Fi and that seems to have improved it, but it still seems to have issue with my 5mhz 802.11AC router.
I think we can live with it the way it is, until they push a fix. Hopefully a fix anyway.

We need update form htc ????
Seems to be an issue with N only 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz band networks. I set my 2.4Ghz to auto (g/n) and removed the 5Ghz SSID from the list of known networks and it's working great. YMMV

DNS issue?
My problem is similar to what Jason V described. My phone connects to my home WiFi okay, but the internet connection alternates between working very slowly, or not at all. Strangely, removing the SIM card from the phone fixes the WiFi connection, but as soon as I reintroduce the SIM card, the WiFi issues return.
I'm going to attempt changing the DNS server to see if that helps at all. If it does I'll let you know.

problem completly solved with new update (1.32.401.17) from dear htc
Still...
Mine version is 1.32.841.15 but the problem is still there... I can't use Wi-Fi....
I could before but now after a few updates I can't... ( Just to be sure that we have same problem, I can turn Wi-Fi on but it doesn't show any networks.)
Solved
Simply update to latest build which as by now is : 1.32.501.17 and fortunately solve 2 M9 devices wifi for me.
you can find these Ota updates in here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/ota-1-32-401-15-firmware-noredtext-t3072571

I had this problem as well. I end up changing my channel to 11_and it helped, but when I changed it to 6,I went from 17mb to 32mb.

I've got the same problem, we have 2 M9s and both of them cannot find any wireless networks

should we wait for hTC or what else can we do that won't require root ?

I was chatting to HTC for about one hour! But our biggest problem was that they don't know there is such a problem! They thought it's a problem just for me.
I informed them about it (at least, informed the chat person!) so I think we can expect an update from HTC in few weeks...
And that's weird that we can use Wi-Fi Hotspot but not connecting even finding networks!
I think the best is to wait a little...
But I'm still really confused that how did some other people updated their phone to 1.32.501.17 not 1.32.841.15 ?!
