I use Anker charger and cable with the 10. They work perfectly fine, quick charge also works.

okay so i literally looked everywhere for an Anker charger but couldn't find it anywhere, although they had a Samsung adaptive fast charger for 2900tk (around 35 dollars). well i'm not sure how good or bad it'll work with htc 10 since it uses Samsung's quick charge technology not Qualcomm. Should i get it? need your opinion guys.

Hi,
I'm the owner of a new Z1C and I'm wondering if it would be harmful for the battery to charge it with a normal usb cable different from the one supplied by Sony. I can imagine it should not be an issue, but I also tried to connect a older headphones to the Z1C and a popup warned me about a "Non-Sony headphones", so... I prefer to ask to be really sure.
Can I charge the phone with a normal usb cable? Thanks in advance,
I've actually been using the cable that came with my Kindle and it works perfectly, no issues at all. It charges quickly and I don't get any errors on my phone. I've also used the cable that came with my Ipega bluetooth controller and it works as well.
I would however recommend staying away from the wall adapters they sell at CVS/Walgreens near the front, and possibly the cables too. I noticed that whenever I plugged in my phone using the wall adapter, the touch screen wouldn't function properly and acted like every time I touched the screen, even if it was to quickly swipe, that I was pressing instead. Horrible.
I also use a non-Sony charger and it works fine. As long is it is a micro-usb charger it will be fine. Headphones on the other hand are different though like you said. I tried a pair of earphones from my older Sony Ericsson X8 and it tells me it is not a supported so yea...
Since the USB specification is quite rigorous there should be no problems, except for very cheap adapters which provide an unstable voltage.
Hello @dramatictone;,
It's safe to charge it with another charger as long as the ampere of the charger is not higher than 2A. However, most aftermarket chargers are rated at 1A, which means that it'll charge slower.
It's also important to buy a quality charger with the safety marks; if you don't want to risk burning down your house while charging over night. Don't buy those generic China chargers, they're not safe to use.
I hope my answer cleared any doubts.
Have a great day,
GethPrime
Thank you very much everybody, I'm more confident now

No problem, but remember to buy a quality charger and you'll be fine. However, any MicroUSB cable will be fine for charging, even cheap China ones

Yep. I had planned to use the official Sony charger at home and the oldie Samsung Galaxy S charger (or even a microusb cable) when charging the phone at the office, but I wanted to be really sure first: I've been using the phone for three days now and I have only had to charge it just once, so I don't want to damage the battery now that I have a phone that lasts more than one day

Note that the old Samsung chargers are rated at 0,7A, so it'll take some time to charge. Other than that it'll work just fine.
Hey everybody.
I just got my Z3 Compact yesterday and it came with sony's quick charger. That was nice of Sony... Now charging is so quick that it's awesome. <3
However, I plan to get a magnetic charging dock. Perhaps Sony's one or the one by Kosee (search for it on Amazon. I can't post links). I wish to know if there would be any problems if I used the quick charger with the dock? Anybody here with the Kosee dock and using the quick charger with it? I don't want to buy the dock only to get it overheat or something and then become a paperweight in the future. That would be very sad.
Btw, I'm from Canada. Bought the phone right after launch day. My very first, proper, flagship Android phone (I used a Blackberry Curve before). It feels awesome and scary at the same time.

I don't see why there would using it with the dock. Essentially the dock is the same as a normal charger, it only allows your phone to sit in a certain position.
Sony Quick charger? do you have a pic & model number, I wasn't aware that Sony have yet bought out a quick charger.

What's the Moto fast charger like?
Btw, when the battery level gets higher, the charging slows down. That's normal, right? I never owned a fast charging device, so I wouldn't know.
Is there any long lasting issues using a Quick Charger as opposed to the normal charger?
also 0-100% how log does it take with the quick charger?
I checked Samsung charger 5V/2A. From 0% to 10% - 10 min, 50% after 1 hour, full after 2,5 hours. I'm going to buy HTC fast charger witch is compatible with Qualcomm's fast charging 2.0 and will try it.

Interesting, the standard Sony charger that comes with the phone only takes around 3 hrs to full charge, saving 30 mins isn't that great, wonder if it can be improved on.
Sony's recommendation is to use the magnetic dock with a wall charger aka EP880/EP881 "quick charger." I regularly charge using a magnetic cable plugged into either a wall charger or USB 3.0 port, and I have not had any issues.
Just a heads up: I've noticed that the lower your battery level is, the faster it charges. As the level gets higher, the charge rate slows down. I've seen my phone go up 1% in 10 seconds (from 4% to 5%). However, when my phone was at 98% it took well over a minute to get to 99%. Maybe the fast charger isn't meant to make your battery fly from 0 to 100% as fast as possible, but to provide a fast (but short) boost when you're close to running out.
I wish I had done proper scientific tests, with apps and timers and stuff. But, I was lazy and chatting on my phone at that time. I can assure you that my above statements are true and not made up to impress people.
Another thing I've learnt: Even the Motorola turbo charger does the same thing. It's even mentioned in their website that the battery level has to be substantially depleted for fast charging. The rate will slow down as battery level goes up.
Yes that's correct, presumably a battery protecting measure, reasoning behind it will be that you may be in a hurry and want to get as much as possible in a short time on a very empty battery, hence the very fast charging at low battery levels.

The dock dont use the microUSB port
You only get the benefit of quick charge 2.0 when plugged in to the usb port on the phone. It has to negotiate the connection through data. Using a quick charger in conjunction with the dock will be exactly as fast as a 2 amp non-qc charger.
Wrong. Dk48 and presumably some magnetic cables ARE qc2.0 compatible. Tested on dk48 - negotiated 9v/1A
Quick charge 2.0 is 9v/1a?
So if I buy the original dock with cable i should have fast charging?
Can you please share charging speeds?
I'm struggling to decide if to buy regular wall charger or buy magnetic. Charging cable

We would gladly enjoy some demo.
There is no way it can negotiate.

Sorry Think i posted in the wrong thread

Does anyone know if the VOOC charger (and car charger) comes with a VOOC compatible cable as well? It's not shown / mentioned in the sales site at all (EUR).
Really keen to have more than one fast charge option for my device when it arrives today :fingers-crossed:

Actually the Tronsmart car charger is one of the few that will charge your phone, and allow constant screen on for navigation.
Probably the best choice around.

i bought mine from alibaba. it is original but doesn't work in my asus zenfone 2. Green battery show +(fast charging) but lock screen doesn't show fast charging message as it shows on original wall charger. So it is quite expensive charger. i paid 19$ but doesn't work. it charges slower than none-fast car charger. just let you know

LOL. The one on the lock screen disappears when you hit 70-80%. Only the + sign on the batt icon will appear. Also, charging from 80-100% will be slower than 1-79%. That is how Quick Charge 2.0 works.

aukey is good but Tronsmart is the best, work very well, when have a promotions in aliexpress we wins more the price low.
Tronsmart has so many models. I do not need 4 ports though. Which other models would support our phone?
I also just recently bought the [Qualcomm Certified] Tronsmart Quick Charge 2.0 18W USB Car Charger. I haven't tried it yet but based on reviews I've read so far I can't wait to start using it & see if it's as advertised. Thanks for sharing.
Can this be used with a USB-C cable to charge the LG G5?
So I lost my charger some days ago and since our phone supports proprietary fast charging I wanted to know if there was a way to get a similar charger to work. I tried going to the service center but they don't have the replacement charger. Thanks.
