After the October update, my 5X now refreshes all apps all the time. The simplest experiment is have zero apps open, now I open a web browser (chrome, firefox, etc) and then switch to the home screen. Now when I switch back to web browser it reloads a web page. The same happens with all other apps (e.g. podcast player). I have eliminated all background apps. After rebooting the system reports 720-ish free MB of RAM. After I start a web browser, it reports 600-ish. So there is still plenty of memory, but the apps just can't stay in memory.

I'm hoping someone can help me. On my old HTC Advantage, I used to have my Windows Live Messenger and my twitter application opened from boot up. I would regularly watch videos, listen to music, surf the net all while both appliactions remained in the background. On my Advantage I had 128 mb of RAM and had no problems juggling these apps. On my Tilt 2 I have double the ram but my background applications keep closing on me. When I check my available ram, I have more than I had available on my Advantage. I've had to resort to using Everapp to keep my windows live open. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
I went trough an odyssey since I bough my Archos G90 Turbo some years ago.
If you have this device you may be familiar with this: constant application freezes and crashes, big keyboard lag, system reboots, can not wake up from sleep, fast battery drain, and a large etcetera of nuisances that make you sad and willing to crush this piece of ****.
After trying almost all the firmwares on the forum thread dedicated to this device I have come to a solution and I wanted to left it here so maybe it helps someone.
The problem with this device is the lack of ram, 512mb is very little and system comes full of bloatware and a lot of applications leave daemons running even when they are not running.
I have installed the stock rooted version of firmware 4.0.7 as some pointed out that is the one that runs better on 512mb devices, and then I have installed root uninstaller and started to remove all apps and services that I don't need.
For instance I have uninstalled:
clock, contacts, contact storage, DRM protected content storage, exchange services, gallery, Gmail, Google+, Google contacts sync, Google play store, Google search, Google tts engine , media center, media storage, media scrapper, talk, talk back, voice search, Japanese keyboard.
There are some system applications that can be replaced for others that use less memory and don't leave daemons like:
play store -> aptoide
gallery -> quickpic (solves problem of being unable to enter deep sleep)
media player -> mx player
browser -> opera mini
Gmail app -> email app
I have also avoided synchronizing anything, or installing applications I use sporadically.
I'm using the tablet since a couple of weeks after doing this and it finally works fine.
I started noticing images taking 25-30 seconds to load in Instagram, and Twitter the other night. I was having other issues with my Google Play Services failing at the time, so I decided to just reinstall the latest build, with a wipe.
After the wipe, I'm still noticing the slow image loading in a lot of apps.
Everything works fine in browser (excluding the instagram and twitter sites), so I don't think it's a hardware issue, since Facebook and a multitude of other apps continue to load images just fine.
Instagram & Twitter load images just fine on my computer, and every other device on my network, so I'm at a loss with this problem.
Has anyone else had a similar issue?
7.1.2 Pure Nexus.
I've been running this ROM for a couple of months but in the last 48 hours I've been getting a very low success rate typing URL or clicking on links in Chrome.
Often when I try to open a website I get thrown back to the launcher with no error message. Reopening chrome finds that my last page is gone, or my last search is not even in recent searches.
I'm getting the behavior from the persistent search bar, chrome browser and chrome custom tabs.
I've tried rebooting but no change, getting real hard to use the browser or Google search anything and it's not even acknowledging the crash.
I'm facing longer loading time of the in apps pages or slide whatever you say them, for example if I open YouTube and then search something it takes like forever to load, same happens in chrome, twitch, YouTube,
Both on WIFI & MOBILE NETWORK. what to do now
