I was wondering if anyone else has this issue. I think most people know by now the issue we all ran into with 4G after we flashed roms with the new OTA update. The 4G would just be stuck at "scanning...." and never connect.
Anyways, I did manage to fix the 4G issue using bigbiff's steps here. So now the 4G connects with no issues but there's one problem: when I leave 4G area or go indoors and come back into 4G area it won't reconnect by itself. I have to either turn on and off 4G or hit the "Scan" button.
If anyone can give me any insight or ideas as to what's going on that would be very awesome.
I have the same problem, and I have seen at least one other person mention this problem (it's kind of hard to search the forum for this problem, since all you get are the folks having problems connecting to 4G).
This started after the OTA update. If the 4G signal fades out, the 4G status remains in "scanning" even in known 4G areas. I made one 4G change to try and fix this - I changed the wimax_idle_sleep time from 10 to 300 as was recommended in the 4G problem posts.
I am wondering if anyone knows what the other 4G settings do and if any of them would fix the problem. So far the only way I know to reconnect to 4G is to turn the radio off and on.
I posted this in another forum, the more frequented one. I thought it was more applicable there since this might be an issue concerning rooting, custom ROMs, home ROM flashing, or all the above. Until I see a wave of non-rooted users complaining about this, I think Sprint has found a gotcha for rooters and flashers. Input from some ROM developers would be nice if they happen to visit this forum.
I can enter a 4g area, turn on 4g, and connect. When I leave a 4g area, turn off 4g, then turn 4g back on before re-entering 4g area and enter a 4g area, it is stuck scanning. It never attaches to the 4g network in the area I entered. If I turn 4g off and on while in 4g area, it will connect.
Are unrooted stock users having these problems? It is a real let down and PITA. Is 4g working perfectly in all scenarios for any rooted user?

I also think it's related to one of the images we have to flash to get root, as the behavior is definitely different than stock. I noticed this after I first rooted / nand unlocked my phone, but before I applied the new radio & wimax. On my phone, however, 4G does eventually come back up. It might take 5 minutes or more, but it does eventually reconnect.
I'm not sure that it's really a bug though. I actually prefer this behavior because it results in fewer dropped connections when switching between 3G and 4G. For streaming apps (Rhapsody, Pandora, Youtube, etc) the frequent switching forces you to have to start the stream over. I think it might have been an attempt to increase the stability of the data connection at the expense of having a 4G connection less of the time. Could be a hold over from one of the older engineering builds we had to flash during the rooting process? It's strange that the behavior persists after flashing a new radio/wimax, but maybe it's actually controlled elsewhere.
Add me to the list. This is from my post about 20 hours ago which hasn't received any bites:
I have seen various issues reported:
1) 4g won't turn on. PERIOD.
2) 4g turns on but only scans - never connects.
3) 3g/4g alternate so there is never a stable connection.
4) 4g turns on and connects but after a while disconnects and won't reconnect until it is toggled on/off with the widget or check box in settings.
I used to have #3 until I did whitslack's "start over" method and now I have #4. I've changed my wimax idle sleep time to 300 in ##data# and verified a good MAC so other than the 2 evo last resort method I think I've tried everything other than the above.
So, does anyone know if renaming/moving macaddress.tree.xml is for my issue #4? Or does anyone know a specific fix for #4?
If it matters I rooted with toast 1/2 and am still on the rooted stock ROM from whitslack's "start over" method.

Some Observations:
I've noticed the following differences since the OTA (with Root-from the "How to Start over with 1.47.651.1" thread):
1. The 4G reconnection problem.
2. Bluetooth no longer auto connects when my headset is in range.
3. I have been getting "Error 67 Data Connection Lost" errors. This error blocks me from 3G data connectivity for a few minutes. During this time, "Mobile Networks" shows "Turning On" in the settings.
I suspect it is one of the following:
a. There is still a radio problem with the rooted OTA
b. the PRI that has not been updated since the root crack matters with this release.
c. Sprint/HTC introduced some new bugs.
d. Some hardware settings need to be tweaked (like the timeout that folks are changing from 10 to 300).
So we need to figure out who is having this problem, and under what circumstances.
I did however note something very interesting. I have repeated this 4 times today. If the 4G disconnects and stays in scanning, if you then place a call it will immediately reconnect. This leads me to believe that it is indeed a setting, and a voice call triggers it (if you recall in May, Sprint was saying that they hope to have Simultaneous Voice and 4G - so there is probably some code to trigger 4G at this point).
What do you folks think.

I would take C out because I have not read complaints by non-rooted users.
The latest PRI is 1.40_003. Right?
Who can bring this over? ROM developers say those features are not part of what they do. If not them, then who?

I think being rooted currently sucks. One of EVO's greatest strengths, connectivity, has been crippled.
sw99, did you try the move the xml file with your mac address solution? If so, I guess it didn't make any difference.

I will try making a call tomorrow when this happens and report back.
I had the same problem pre-root.
I wont be able to help anybody too much with technical stuff 'cause I'm basically a non-technical guy, but I've had the same problem with wimax dropping & not reconnecting ever since the OTA update (1.47....). I went to a Sprint store & the guy just went cross eyed, so it may not be too common.
In my case the connection will SOMETIMES come back on its own with a really strong signal, but rarely.
I just rooted tonight so I have no idea if it's worse or not, but I'll find out tomorrow, eh?
I've also had difficulty with Bluetooth automatically connecting, but I have a new stereo so I don't know where the issue lies.

Nope. Didn't touch the xml file, as my 4G was connecting, and the fix was for 4G just scanning.
I still think we can tweak the WIMAX settings and make it come back faster.

Well at least its faster than toggling the 4G radio - just find a friend with a mobile phone so you don't waste any minutes.

Just dial your own number which takes you to voice mail and shouldn't waste minutes. I'll probably put a direct dial shortcut on my home screen until a solution comes along. Not that I'm worried about wasting my regular minutes....I used 29 of 450 on my last bill!
I can now confirm that moving/deleting the xml file does nothing for our problem. At least not on my EVO.
So, I've been looking at the WIMAX settings (using ##DATA# and my MSL).
There are some settings that look like they could be effecting this problem. Be forewarned, however, that some of the values preset are not considered "valid" when you make a change (leading me to add credence to my theory that HTC/Sprint goofed), so I'm hoping a nandroid backup will recover them. Open each parameter and deleting the values, gives you a popup of the valid values and units.
Here is what I tried so far:
wimax_idle_sleep(s) changed from 10 to 300 seconds - effect: little to none.
wimax_scan_attempt_timeout(s) changed from 1 to 20 seconds - effect: little to none. (note only 5-300 are valid values after this change).
Other parameters that look interesting and their default values:
Wimax_scan_retry(s): 300 Seconds
Wimax_entry_delays(s): 300 seconds
wimax_exit_delay(s): 2 seconds
idle_mode_timer: 60 seconds
Standby Time: 10 Minutes
handoff Threshold: 6
Anyone willing to mess with these (at the risk of losing Wimax, of course)?
That is one place I'm not going to mess around. I saw a stern warning about that recently on the dev forum.

Does anyone ever have an issue with their LG Nitro HD's WiFi dropping off when going into certain apps like Kijiji/SongPop etc..., this happens quite a bit and have to try to catch it by pulling down the drop down window to hit 'WiFi' again in hopes that it stays up and I have pulled the SIM & battery but no resolution so any one else and what do you suggest? I am not rooted 'yet' but I'm on 4.0.4 ICS not that matters, any hope is welcome?

How strong of a signal are you receiving? Is WiFi actually turning off or do you just lose connection? Are you dropping WiFi signal with the phone awake or does it drop when you lock the phone? Are you using an app such as Juice Defender, which can turn WiFi off?
Maybe it's because your wifi signal is not strong enough and your data plan take over because the signal is stronger/faster than your wifi!

Finally, this question came up. I'd had same problem here and researched a lot before, but there is no way to solve it yet.
LG said there is a problem between phone's firmware and specific wifi's firmware so they were supposed to release a new firmware maybe in September I noticed?
But I don't think they released..........
I don't even use wifi at home. But I remember it worked with Gingerbread.
Hope this helps.

I can't figure it out and it probably is the jump from GB to ICS but I was never on GB so have not experience with it then, I find it funny that 'Google Play/Twitter/FaceBook/Poynt' all work fine just others as I mentioned don't and drop off and also do not pick up LTE or even 4G/lol so I'm just going to root and hopefully it changes everything?:crying:
Stock T-mobile S6 Edge, AOCG. I have disabled I think 21 bloatware apps. I'm also leaving WiFi off full-time right now because of the cell standby bug.
However, in addition to the cell standby bug and, perhaps the real reason I refuse to turn WiFi back on at all, is that my phone fails to receive any push notifications while connected to a WiFi network.
I'll leave my phone on the table for a while, come back, hit the home button, and a flood of notifications will pop up (I use groupme a lot so in extreme cases my phone will buzz and make noise for about 30 seconds to catch up with ~50 missed notifications).
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any ideas at fixing it?
I haven't rooted or played with the recovery yet. I've been on the sidelines waiting for an official TWRP build and a debloated custom ROM.
Just a quick bump here...
I have since rooted and installed the 5.1.1 ROM available in the T-mobile S6 Edge Android Development Forum.
I still don't get push notifications while on WiFi. My girlfriend's phone (stock AT&T moto x 5.0) is on the same network and gets push notifications just fine, so I know it's not a problem with my router's TCP heartbeat settings (or maybe I should say I don't think that is the problem).
This is super annoying and frankly just baffling. If anyone has any insight into this issue or any steps I might be able to take to try and troubleshoot it further I'd really appreciate it.
I'll bump again. I have this issue on my home network, but when I connect to another network, I'm able to receive notifications fine. So in my case, it may be some sort of router setting that my phone doesn't like. I'll keep digging around.
I called T-mobile with this issue and they are sending me a new Edge and one of their Asus built routers. Both are on their way to me now, I will update with my findings.
I should also note that I have since done a full and complete wipe of my phone and ODINed back to fully stock. It seemed like it fixed the issue at first, but now it's back to the same behavior: phone sitting quietly on the table at home connected to WiFi, hit the home button, flood of buzzes and noises for 10-15 seconds while it registers all the notifications that have been pushed since it went screen off.

I have the same issue with mine.
Its a crap shoot. Sometimes it will work fine and sometimes it wont.
I turn the screen on and the flood of notifications come in.
If you dig around the web this problem is happening to a bunch of people with the S6.
Keep us updated.
How did you get the T-Mobile Asus router? A friend was telling me about that over the weekend and I'm definitely interested, since I read another thread (for a Note Edge and Note 4 that had the same issue) and they claimed that older routers had issues with GCM/Samsung push notifications.
Strange enough, last night I was receiving them fine, even during deep sleep, so it seems like a really random, sporadic issue. Still utterly annoying, however.
Yup, it's hit or miss for me on WiFi.
As for the router, they pushed it pretty hard from the start of my service call. They claim it's totally free, I will report any deposits or hidden fees that I encounter once I get my next bill.
As for why T-mobile wants to give us free routers, this Engadget article should answer your questions:

I am thinking more and more it has something to do with Samsung software and lollipop.
I have the S6 Edge and the Note Edge and a Nexus 9..... Note Edge was working perfectly until yesterday when updated it to lollipop now its having the same problem as the S6 not as bad but still misses at times.
I have all 3 devices side by side connected to the same router, the Nexus 9 doesn't miss a beat notifications are instant while the screen is off. The S6 i have to turn the screen on to get them and the Note Edge is hit or miss.
New edge got here today. So far it's a champ with WiFi notifications while the screen is off.
Although I fully expect the new phone to promptly resume the odd behavior now that I've made this post.
Haven't received the T-mobile router yet, still using the same one as before.

I did a full reset yesterday and the phone worked perfectly for half the day and then started acting up again at night.
I just spoke to T-mobile, they are also sending me the Tmo asus router, but before they replace the phone they want me to try keeping it on wifi calling for an entire day to see what happens. I dont know what that will do but we will see.
I am curious about this t-mobile router what thats going to do. I already have a top notch router and anywhere in my house i am getting over 24mbps download speeds. SO i dont even know if i am going to use it. I have read that they are giving these things out like bread to promote them.

Well, it was working great... until it wasn't. Called T-Mobile again and they're sending the report to Samsung. I urge anyone else having this issue to call T-Mobile so that they can continue to push (pun!) the issue with Samsung.

I can say, however, that the Asus built router is really great. Over 200Mbps download speeds over 802.11ac 5GHz
Just a quick note, after ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES on the phone (finally got pushed to samsung tech support after tmobile confirmed it was a manufacturer issue), I ended up hanging up with the issue unresolved.
Samsung had me download an app that allowed the tech to remote in to my phone to try and diagnose the problem.
I was able to recreate the issue by leaving the call live, locking the screen, sending myself an email from a different account, waiting five minutes, and then hitting the home button. Lo and behold, the notification popped up after the phone had been awake for 3-5 seconds, clearly demonstrating the issue. She then says, I'm glad we have resolved the issue, you see the notification on your lock screen. Uhhhhh, have you been listening at all? It didn't register until I woke the phone... you just saw it! Incompetence.
The tech then relentlessly went through each app's notification settings to make triple sure I didn't turn off notifications by accident. Not the issue. Then she asked if it was only with downloaded applications... yes, those are the only applications I use? Not using the garbage built-in email client and I can't think of any other pre-installed app that would get push notifications on the reg.
Anyway, she then says, oh well if its only downloaded apps you'll need to get in contact with the app developers for each app. What? how could? what?
Worthless.
For the record, tmobile was great... the tech was very knowledgeable and helpful. Samsung... worthless. Couldn't understand the issue (I think there was a language barrier to some extent) and then after she suggested I contact each app dev, I hung up. Might try again tomorrow, maybe get a different tech.
Still, no solution!
Thanks for the update.
I am waiting on the ASUS modem but I know that wont do anything. Since your new phone is doing the same thing i guess I am not going to ask for a new phone since it wont matter.
This problem is occurring on Verizon models as well if you do a google search.
I really think its a software problem with Samsung and lollipop. MY Note Edge was perfect before Lollipop now its acting exactly like the S6. My Nexus 9 is perfect and doesnt skip a beat.
Maybe the issue will be fixed with 5.1.1

Let's hope! It's quite frustrating but I will hold out hope.
I have exactly the same problem.
When the screen is off and the phone is connected in a WiFi network, I stop receiving push notifications after a while.
I do not receive notifications from GMAIL, E-mail app, WhatsApp, etc.
Then, when I turn the screen on, everything is received.
I have a Brazilian S6 Edge with Stock ROM.
I have tried everything: Wipe cache, factory reset, etc. Nothing has helped... :crying:
---------- Post added at 03:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:28 PM ----------
Guys, I think I solved my problem, at least temporarily.
I realized that I had enabled in my router DHCP with IPV6 and the Edge was using it.
When I entirely disable the IPV6 in my router and restarted it, I let the screen off for almost 30 min. and I still receive notifications from WhatsAPP, Facebook, and Gmail. Thus, I really think it must be the lollipop problem with IPV6 that people are reporting.
Maybe you should try this.
I have Comcast and unfortunately they wont let you disable the IPV6.
I am getting my T-mo Asus router today, I am going to hook that up and disconnect the IPV6. I will report back what I find.
I think the IPv6 fix has solved it for me.
I am hesitant to say for sure because of so many moving pieces and the hit-or-miss nature of the issue, but ever since I turned off IPv6 on my T-mobile Asus router, I have had perfect WiFi push notification behavior (... I think).
You are not alone check this out, me specifically, this happens when im using wireless charging and the phone sits.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/help/push-notifications-stop-screen-off-t3071248
Well I have been going a full day now on the T-mo Asus router with IPV6 TURNED OFF, and the notifications have been instant.
It does seem that IPV6 is the culprit.
On a side note, I can not believe how fast the Asus router is. I have a 3,000 sq foot house and I am getting over 90mbps download speeds all over the house.
Very very impressive.
If anyone has Comcast you MUST get your own router. Put the Comcast router in bridge mode and use your own router. Its night and day
Alright so this seems to be random. Some days its not an issue. Others its an every ten minute occurrence. Since I flashed to Us Unlocked, which keep in mind I had just received the phone so I had no real drive time prior to..., but My phone will appear fine. I see full 4G and full signal strength, but nothing will work. no calls, SMS fail immediately..... Once I reboot the phone, it will work fine and I will receive all the messages and such that I hadn't been getting. This may work for days, this may fail in 5 minutes. I have rebooted 5 times today and I have only been using it since 7:00am. I also have not seen or received ANY update at all after the initial update once I flashed.
Anyone else having these issues or similar?

It's a radio problem, I have the exact same problem on a US Unlocked HTC 10. In the mornings when leaving for work, as soon as wifi disconnets, I can't do anything because even though it shows signal, i won't be able to send/receive texts or anything until after I turn on/off airplane mode. It is really annoying and hopefully a firmware update will fix it, I'm still on the 1.80 one and I am not sure when the 1.90 will be available. Super annoying annoying because i can be on wifi not knowing my signal is lost, so sometimes I disconnect wifi on purpose to be sure I can receive texts/calls.
I suggest flashing back the TmoUS firmware. You can get a no-wipe version from here that includes TWRP 3.0.2-5
The fix will be released for HTC 10 US unlocked phones on August 15th ... That will include the August security patch as well.

Mine doesn't show that there is no service, the service just doesn't work. I hope the fix comes real soon and the last post was right about the 15th. In dire need now. LOL
Same issue here on T-Mobile. Leaving house on wifi it does it and doesn't when I leave my office on wifi. Definitely radio and looking forward to the 1.90 update.
Unlocked HTC 10 Update 8/15
Just an update and reminder... the latest update (including the August security patches) was approved and will be available tomorrow 8/15 (as we hoped for). Thanks for your patience.
I'm having issues with downloads on my 5ghz wifi connection. 2.4ghz works fine. Downloading anything on 5ghz takes forever. A speed test shows I have 90mbps download speed on 5ghz. All my other phones work fine.

I had the same issue with my Pixel XL, especially when it came to Play Store downloads. I had my 5GHz band setup in my router to use automatic channel management. Switching this to manual and picking a channel based on WiFi Analyzer app information seemed to have helped, for now at least. I'm now using channel# 104 for my 5GHz band.
I don't know if this is an issue with the Pixel line. My Nexus 6P never had issues with auto-channel management.
Give the manual thing a shot and let me now if that helped!
My XL has been having weird WiFi issues since I got it on Thursday. The first half of my full day with it was fine, but later in the day WiFi just kept disconnecting and connecting. I was on my 5 Ghz network, so I switched to 2.4 Ghz, same thing. I sideloaded the NDE63P OTA since it hadn't come down for me (I'm on T-Mobile, so not sure if this is Verizon only). This supposedly has WiFi fixes.
Things were fine for a day, but now I catch it doing the same disconnect from time to time. Not as often as on NDE63L, but still more than my 6P ever did.

I was disconnecting from wifi all morning. 2.4 and 5ghz, I rebooted and fixed the disconnecting. I still can't download apps on 5ghz. I sent a Google tech logs this afternoon. Will see what they have to say. No its not my router. I have 6 devices running on 5ghz
Having rock solid performance here with Asus AC-66U. First phone I've had that connects at 800mbps on 802.11AC to my router.

I have an Asus RT-N66. Performance is not a problem, it just doesn't seem to be stable all the time :crying:

Very stable here. Have you tried to disable beamforming? I've had problems with that in the past on the AC-66U

I don't think mine has that, since it's only N. I don't see it in any of the wireless settings tabs

Well, looks like I was too optimistic. The semi-regularly-intermittent slow down is back. It happens often enough to be annoying but not all the time. I'm using the Comcast provided Arris TG1682G. This is using the 5GHz band. I know I could switch to 2.4GHz band but I would rather try to figure out what to do to get this working problem-free on the 5GHz.
Any ideas?

Same exact issue, Comcast Arris gateway. Sent logs to Google. Heard nothing back yet. I have connected to other 5ghz Wifi with no problems. I don't think its hardware. Has to be software and that Comcast router.

I agree with you. My 6P didn't have the issue with the same router.
BTW, How does one get those logs?
Also, I wonder if putting the Arris in bridge mode and connecting an external router might help? It seems like an overkill for 2016...
I'm having the same issues. Mine is disconnecting from both 2.4 and 5. Seems like it works immediately after a reboot but then will drop. I can seem to get it to consistently drop using the ookla speed test app. I also side loaded the latest and it did not help. Please let us know if you get anywhere. I talked to Google support today and got generic response for generic Wi-Fi troubleshooting.

I downloaded updates from the playstore this morning on 5ghz with no problems. I know it's hit or miss. Last night it wouldn't work. A different router in bridge mode might work. You would still need to lease the gateway fron Comcast. Which sucks.

I had that problem too one morning. A reboot fixed it and I haven't had it since then. Something broken with this device. Alot of Bluetooth issues people are having also. My Bluetooth is working well.

My OnePlus One has had major wifi issues for the two years I've owned it, especially 5 ghz. This is a treat in comparison. No issues to report yet. I see slowness in opening apps sometimes but no noticeable lag.
No issues with my Google store bought XL on either WiFi band
I had the exact same problems with my wifi but now have stable fast connection after disabling Bluetooth scanning under the location settings.

I tried that last night but it didn't seem to work. I thought it might have had something to do with Bluetooth though because I disconnected my watch and it was fine for a while. Once I re enabled Bluetooth in general, it went back to disconnecting. And disabling it again didn't help, but it always seems to be fine after a reboot for a little bit. Not sure if I hope this is a software issue or hardware issue. Would be nice to have a replacement that works, but on the other hand if it's software, it could be patched. Based on how it behaves it makes me think it's software.
I don't have my Pixel yet but many phones have problems with certain 5Ghz channels. Try setting your router to channel 44 or 48 and see if you have better luck.

No luck, still slow downloads from playstore. I also noticed in Google photos, some pictures are blurry. When I tap into the blurry picture, the spinning circle keeps spinning without bringing up the picture. My ookla speed test are normal fast. My Google Chrome speed test are all over the place, with network errors. Definitely weird. All my other devices work.
