Hey guys! I have a Verizon Note 4 i just got from a buddy. I am wanting to root it, but i have some questions. I have read all the guides and im wondering if there is a simpler way to root it other then having to flash roms and such. I have not flashed roms before, although im sure i could figure it out. I am running MM 6.0.1 on it right now, that's the stock firmware as i just restored it to factory. What exactly would i have to do to root this phone? It is not a developer edition. Could you guys point me in the direction of a safe method of doing it? Or do i need to read up on flashing roms? Would i have to go back to lolipop to do it? And if i went back to loli, would i be able to upgrade back to MM and still have all the features (like Hotspot ect...) and root?
Thanks guys! I just want to be sure to do this right so i did not waste $200!

Hello,
I own a N5110 (Wifi) version of the Galaxy NOTE 8.0
The warranty is void since the first day... So I don't have a problem with rooting
I saw this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpMY1xqXBhU
But I've read the comments, ppl have problems!!
And I'm not sure if it works with N5110 or for N5100 variant only!
Another Q:
Will the UNROOTING Process be easy, or it'll require flashing?
Won't I receive updates from SAMSUNG while being rooted (Without custom ROM) ??

For the first question, I am not sure never rooted with that.
For the second question you do need to flash the stock. Usually people just do that to hide that it has been rooted. If it is for that purpose that you are asking, and you have flashed roms, I recommend using Triangle Away, because that erases the counter of how many ROMs you have installed.
If you are at the stock you will receive updates, and if you do the update you will lose root. I have done that in the past with my Droid Bionic. I do not recommend it though because it lagged the hell out of my phone

Well, what's the point in installing the STOCK ROM if I wanted to UNROOT in my case?? (I mean I've no warranty anyway)
Can I just unroot without flashing?
And Yes I know about Triangle Away, I've read about it recently.
For the first question>> what do you recommend for rooting NOTE 8.0 N5110 ?
Thanks

As far as I know(being doing this for 3 years) There is no way to unroot without flashing the Stock Rom. The only way to flash the stock is using odin.
Honestly I do not know the best easy way to do it. All depends on the version you are at. I was on the updated version(not sure the build number). That framework apk didn't work with the version I had. The way I rooted was by first unlocking, then installed the TWRP through odin, then flashed a zip that rooted my phone. I do not recall any of the links. For the files, I lost them all because I just got a new computer and I was dumb enough to not do the back up on the other computer. Also I dont remember if there was steps in between, so I dont recommend following what I mentioned .
the way that I did is very similar to this one:

Thanks for your big help :good:
You can just install a nandroid stock rom for your device which is non rooted...
My mom accidentally upgraded her Note to Marshmallow. She hates stock because of how slow it runs. I've had @hsbadr's CM on my Note for a while now and I really like it. She's willing to try it out, but now that she's upgraded to MM, there's no root.
Is it possible to flash the full Stock 5.1.1 tar, or do I have to wait for KingRoot? I remember someone saying, in one of the threads I'm subscribed to, that it could be downgraded, but I want to make sure, since this time it isn't my phone. I would try it myself and maybe soft brick my phone, but mine is already happily running CM.
The phone should be on the CPF3 firmware right now.
Sorry to bump this, but it would be really great to have a definitive answer. Everything's backed up, but I still don't want to hard brick the phone.
OK, so I went ahead and tried flashing the StockRestore BPA1 firmware. That led to this error: [tz] fused 2 > Binary 1. Apparently I can't downgrade the bootloader, and that's why I got that error. I'm now trying to flash the N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVRU2BPA1_VZW firmware.
That one worked. I was able to boot into 5.1.1, but since it still had the 6.0.1 bootloader (I think this is the reason), KingRoot wouldn't work. Using the Kingo Root desktop app (it's been updated; looks a lot nicer) allowed me to root and unlock.
I'm a little confused about the conflicting answers I'm reading in the threads here and was hoping someone could give me a simple answer. As of now I am rooted on 5.1.1 running oscar_kernelv2.0. No special rom just regular touch wiz. I would like to upgrade to a ROOTED 6.0.1. My question is in order to do this do I factory wipe my phone, make sure I'm rooted on 5.1.1 and then I can just flash a rooted 6.0.1? I have no problem rooting into 5.1.1 I'm just confused about what the next steps are suppose to be after that in order to upgrade to MM. If anyone could help I'd appreciate it because the MM guides here are too vague.

Flash the safe upgrade by hsbrad which is rootable. The upgrade guide is in verizon note 4 general forum. It invoves relocking your phone temporarily . You will need mobile data to run kingroot the upgrade will leave Your wifi unusable at this point but unlock is almost the same as the process u used if u unlocked 5.1.1
I had to get a "new" phone sent due to the screen on my previous one starting to push out from a swollen battery. It came with Marshmallow already installed. Will this unlock and root method work? The version number is 6.0.1.

Is the no wifi issue just a temporary problem UNTIL the rooted 6.0.1 is installed? Or will wifi never work as long as I'm running hsbrad MM?
The wifi problem is only temporary. It's because the bootloader is incorrect, but you'll fix that in one of the following steps. Just follow the instructions to the letter and it will work. Be patient and don't skip anything. I just rooted two note 4's in less than a week. Never thought it to be possible, but I'm extremely happy now. I don't even miss the Note 7 I had for a few weeks.
Hey everyone. I'm moving on to a new device, and I want to provision this Note 4 so my daughter can use it. Obviously however, I don't want to hand her a rooted phone.
Is there a guide on how to return a rooted Verizon Note 4 (currently 5.1.1) back to full stock? I can't seem to find one.
If there isn't a guide, can you tell me what steps need to be done? Will taking the OTA that I've blocked restore it back to stock? I think I know what steps in theory, but not seeing some explicit steps laid out has me wanting to make sure I understand what needs to be done before I attempt this.
I want the boot loader locked as well, with the custom boot screen gone, though I suppose that goes without saying.
Please help, and thanks!
Just odin whatever android version you want on the phone. Just make sure the file is your carrier specific.
Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Or you could just download kies and do a factory reset

I just uploaded the newest update if you would like to flash it with Odin. Just unzip, flash it in the AP slot and then do a factory reset. Download in the link below.

Hey all -- I just got a Note 4 from FreedomPop (Tanga deal). I used the following service and it is successfully unlocked. It's running a bloated 6.0.1 currently. In the unlock process, the phone was rooted. He mentioned I would need to throw on a stock ROM, but didn't give me much more detail. Just said we were done unlocking and didn't have much to say after that. Now, the phone IS working in 6.0.1 which I'm fine with. But if I wanted to clean it up, what would be my path? TWRP, backup, restore a stock TMobile ROM then do OTA updates? Or just run a debloater (Titanium) and get rid of stuff I don't want (right now feeling that's where I'll go)?
Any help appreciated. I've done plenty of rooting and messing around, but typically not without following a detailed guide on forums like XDA Thanks.
Unlock service?
Can i ask which service you use?
