Hi there.
I have a problem. I installed a kernel called ElementalX-m8-1.04-GPE.zip.
Now my phone wont display anything other then the HTC logo when turning on the device.
After the logo has disapered. the phone goes dark. I can hear when i touch the display that something happens. (i can hear dial pad sounds).
I can also hold down power and volume down and hear a screen shot sound.
I can restart the phone my holding down power + volume down + volume up.
I wish to enter recovery so i can undo what i just did. Hope someone can help me.
My phone is a brand new HTC one M8... so this sucks.
Yeah, hard situation. I had the same on my Live with Walkman, but I went to a service where they ressurect my phone. Anyway I think you installed a wrong type of kernel that's why you see dark. Can you tell me when you plug usb to your phone and computer is LED on red? When yes, try to charge the battery. I heared that sometimes work
Yeah the light does turn on.
I'll try charging it then.
The computer can see the device btw, if that's any help.
i just tried HTC sync manager. Just to see if i could restore the phone that way. Sync manager can see the phone, but it says somthing about it's not connected properly. So the restore button is grayed out. I can't press it.
Please post to the apropriate forum for your device

It is SDS and you need to replace emmc.
You can read about first models with faulty emmc chips.
The issue im having is with the screen. After the June security update the screen will only come on but it won't detect touches. The recent and back buttons work. Power button and volume buttons work.
If i try to boot into download from recovery it just boots the device. I will upload some videos to YouTube and provide links shortly.

First video is lobg winded and sporadic but shows my issue.
I would try recovery mode via volume up home and power button all at once from powered off state.

I have done this already and it still wont work. Taking it in to Sprint store today.
try replacing the device from sprint its permanently bricked if u cant go into download mode
So Sprint would not touch the device. They claimed there was water damage, as the sensor had been tripped (per their "professional" repair service lady who couldn't get the phone to boot. This quickly made me lose faith in their team)
I had to send it to Samsung. They have replaced the screen and are sending it back free of charge (the device is still under manufacturing warranty). Go Samsung!!
Problem. Solved.

Looks like your device has a short, IMO. Your LED in the second video, should never look like a Flashlight, lol. Best of luck on your Sprint voyage. As long as you mention nothing about root and so forth, they've always been very friendly and helpful to me with defective devices.

For the record, what you were seeing was the proximity sensor. It uses infrared light to detect if it is blocked or not, and since he was using a video recording device to make the video, we could see the infrared light coming out.
You can experience this by taking your TV remote, and turning on your phone's camera, point the TV remote at the camera, and press the buttons. You will see a white light on the camera, but nothing will light up on remote.
HI all my tab s will not turn on, but if i plug it in to a wall outlet it turns on fine, but it does not boot into android it boots into recovery menu. Long story short i sent it in for repair to Samsung last month the day i got it back i went on holiday. that's where the same issues came back screen flickering erratic battery not charging up properly freezing up etc etc. When i sent it to Sammy it was on kitkat and all Sammy service center did is update it to lollipop ran some diagnostics and sent it back to me.
Due to it not booting up i had a old 4.4.2 firmware file on my computer so i flashed it since then it don't boot to android it boots to android recovery menu and it will not turn on with out a wall outlet as a power source, also soon as i remove the wire it shuts off immediately..
i'm downloading lollipop as i'm typing this out, but the problem is it's been plugged into the laptop for about 15 mins or so and it's not turning on so how do i flash lollipop ?
Try holding the power button home button and both volume buttons all at once holding the home button first then the volume keys then finally the power button. If this dont work or your still getting screen flicker open tab up remove battery for 5 mins and plug it back in. YouTube has tutorials

And hold them in for up to ten seconds
Hi, my LG started to turning off the display self. It happend sometimes, but now display doesn´t screen anything (LG logo, bootanimation, homescreen nothing). Touch is dead too in that moment. Is it possible the error is in display (connector, power button etc.) and motherboard is good? Or is it bad motherboard?
Thanks
Hard to tell, I'd try charging the phone and see if the notification LED turns on. If it does then we would know that motherboard is at least partially working, maybe even not damaged (in my experiencie motherboard was either fine or completely broken, nevery anything in between)
As for the connector: Everything inside every smartphone is packed so tightly that it would be rather improbable for tge connector to disconnect, I would rather say that it may rather be broken screen.
If you have flashed unofficial ROMs they also may cause these kind of problems (buggy drivers etc.), you could try to enter fastboot mode or recovery mode to see if screen works there, these two modes uses different software than normal "android" mode.

(for some reason I am unable to edit my previous post)
About power button: if you turn on G4 it should vibrate, that would tell you if your phone boots.
If you have multimeter you could try to measure battery voltage, it should be between 3 and something volts to 3.8V (fully charged)
If everything else fails you can once again try to enter fastboot mode and check if your PC detects it ("fastboot devices" in cmd)
