Hi,
I've installed a new android headunit today. Running android 7.1 out of the box.
I have a few problems with it and a few thing I'd like to know how you do it.
Problems:
- Not all buttons work like they should. Temperature adjusting works fine but changing the air outlet on the passengers side doesn't.
- The car settings app is doesn't work. The toggles go from on to off and back...
Question:
- I'd like to use bluetooth tethering for internet, but that doesn't seem to work. the bluetooth settings look different and I can't choose to use the internet connection. Usb tethering would be a great alternative but I don't thing its available.
The only other option would be to use the wifi hotspot but I hate the fact that I need to switch it on and off all the time.
Hopefully you have a solution for these problems.
Thanks, Frans
I've just installed an Erisin head unit with Android 7.1 in my VW Passat.

My solution for tethering was to use the wifi hotspot on my Nexus 5X. I've used Automate to enable/disable the hotspot when my phone connects/disconnects to Bluetooth so I don't have to switch it on and off all the time.
Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Everything works as it should. I've replaced the default launcher with Car Launcher Pro which seems to be the only car launcher specifically designed for use on an Android head unit rather than a phone. I think it looks a lot better than the default one.
I've installed Waze and Spotify which are now linked together so I can switch between the two really easily. I'm using TuneIn for the radio, but my mobile signal sometimes drops out so I'm tempted to buy the additional DAB unit.
The only real issue I'm having is some slight buzzing interference when the engine is running. It's not terrible but I'll be looking into how I can earth the head unit better to try and suppress it.
Hi,
Do you have found a solution for this problems?
I'm thinking buy an Android head unit for my Peugeot 407, but I'm afraid that many options doesn't work, without original screen...
Hi guys,
I've changed the oem Head-Unit of my Peugeot 407 with a new PX3 with Android 7.1 and all main functions of the original system are ok.
Original Head-Unit was a WipNav (RNeg) with a 7" color display.
Now with the new Head-Unit set I can controll the dual zone clima (all controlls, pilot and passenger) and consumption indicator.
Some pictures at below...
What's your problem for the controls or buttons?

Hi trudtilp
Thanks for the photos.
I appreciate if you can answer a few questions:
- The unit, show external temperature, as the original screen show?
- Are the car messages displayed? Like "Low exterior temperature", "Front left seatbelt open", "Doors open", "right headlamp failure", "esp malfunction", ...?
- Original parking sensors are working? Beep and graphics or only beep?
Thanks in advance!
Hello everyone, I'm very interested in this because I would also like to install a head unit: the latest version androïd 8 on my Citroën C5 (RC_) (of course the screen should be adapted ...)
I ask myself some questions also about the sensors of recoil because the car has 8!
I know there are interfaces (look for "DanyMecano" on Youtube) but no way to know if this interface can accept as many sensors
And finally, my car is equipped with amplified JBL sound ... I saw that there were JBL CanBus decoders for Toyota (Aliexpress) but again, nothing for Peugeot 407 (or C5 with the same configuration)...
I'm French so I use the Google translation and I apologize if you do not understand everything!

As I know, JBL sound on Peugeot 407, works great with any canbus, also with the old versions that do not support reverse parking sensors. In a Spanish forum, there are an user who confirm that.
Ok I'll watch this thank you very much
#EDIT:
Do you have a link please?
I just watched 10 pages in Spanish language and I did not find anything ...
Hello everyone!
I found some information ... In ".es" as Peixeiro said!
A sale (too expensive) but the first info is very clear! :
"With this equipment, functions are not lost.
The steering wheel controls, vehicle information, parking sensors, climate, even the JBL system are retained.
With Android 7.1"
I also found a Chinese seller (Seicane) who gives an interesting info in his description, it say:
"Please note: this unit only can support your original car's reversing radar if your car's origin CD is a small screen less than 4.3 inch, then this unit can't support your car's reversing radar."
Below there is a photo of the RD4...

I'd love to be able to send audio (FM Radio, Sound player, podcasts, etc) to my mono bluetooth headset.
I have a Scala Rider headset in my motorcycle helmet, and I'd love to hear music from my Galaxy while riding.
I found "Super BT Mono" in the Android Market, however the free version doesn't seem to work. It doesn't do anything other than show an icon in the notification bar...
So, is this even possible?
possible yes
quality will suck
back in the old days, when they did not sell single sided A2DP BT headsets, many programmers created apps to send audio via BT to non A2DP capable headsets.
but not sure if any developer is going to take on the challenge, as it's so easy to buy a single ear A2DP BT headset now in days

I understand about the quality, and am willing to live with it.
With regards to the headset statement, trust me, the motorcycle community will love the developer of this app.
The SCALA RIDER Bluetooth headset attaches to the motorcycle helmet. So we can't just get any A2DP single ear headset. We're stuck with this.

I'm putting together a simple program that will do this. FYI, it will be Froyo only.
Might be a couple weeks before I can get around to it though. I'm swamped with work at the moment, and I'll be away from home for the last two weeks of September.
It will probably be free on XDA. Might ask 99 cents for it on the market.
That is truly awesome!
I really appreciate it, as I'm sure others will!
I'll put it on my task list but cannot make any guarantee on when I can get started on this.
I'm currently working on a fix to get stereo FM radio, but while working on this I found lots of interesting stuff on all kinds of things audio related.
This is what Im looking for and cant find. The music plays in the ear piece during phone calls fine so seems like it would be easy to fix.
I've been looking for that as well. I used BToggle for 3 years on my WM5 HTC wizard. and was REALLY disappointed when I got the G1 and found... what?? NO BToggle!! so I bought a stereo A2DP headset. but with 5-6 hrs play/talk time = workable but less then happy. then I found, tested and bought Super BT mono shortly after it hit the market and use it alot!! only thing is now I miss the notifications "Pushed" to my non A2DP headsets. and this is what I want.
I think it can be done by changing parts of bluez but I dont know what yet. if anyone can point me in the right direction I'm willing to stumble my way through.
Peter.

Sorry, forgot about this little project. Put together a first release today. Find it in the market: BTmono by me. It's free. Detailed post later.
nice app
i tested it on froyo and have the following problems:
*) when using skype, it always changes back to normal phone speaker, i have to start your app again and press yes a few times, to route back to BT-headset again
seems that some actions switch it back to phone speaker
*) microphone of bluetooth headset is not routed yet, i hope this is also possible
but thanks fo the app, i hope it will work fully soon.

Awesome, Thanks! I'm going to take a look at it over the weekend.
My first proposal to it would be to have a small widget allowing to turn BTmono On/Off with a single press of the widget.

Hmm...sounds like Skype is trying to manually set the audio routing itself. Not sure if there's much I can do about that.
As for the microphone, I hadn't really considered that. I was thinking of this as purely a means of getting audio from the phone to the BT headset. Does Skype not work with a BT headset using the standard headset profile?

Ya, a widget is definitely on the to-do list. I need to add that to the market description. I wanted to get the basic functionality out there for now, and then add on over time. I probably wouldn't even have made it if the existing apps on the market weren't ridiculously overpriced, hehe.

VW cars that have right hand controls from factory, are those buttons able to send CAN signals to the radio?
My car came only with the controls on the left. They function as intended. I have retrofitted the right hand controls and seem to be functional, I'm able to change the dash display. No VCDS coding was done for this to work.

I would like to control the Android HU with the right side SWCs. Using CarService or logcat, I can see that no button presses are seen by the head unit. I'm trying to determine if some VCDS coding is needed (Don't have a VCDS cable yet) or that if this can bus option is just not possible. Thanks for any information.
*Title redundancy has been noted
Hi,
I do have the same SWC on my 2010 Seat Altea (Seat brand in the VW group in EU), but the keys icons are a little different. I tried to make the keys on the right side working but without success on my JY unit.
I have VCDS and was looking for a coding but without success.
I emailed Joying about this issue, but it seems that the CANBus decoder is the real part of the problem.
The layout with the CANBus box on Android units seems to be :
Left keys :
- Up & Down for VOL+ & VOL-
- Arrow keys for Prev & Next preset on the radio or track on any music app (original is for radio seek and prev / next track on CD but not sure)
- Phone key opens the BT app on long press, or answer & end call on short press
- The mic is used for mute
Right keys :
- Up & Down for dash display control
- Left & right are useless and not functional at all (you have some little squares, i do have some double arrows left & right; original is for radio switching in presets and fast forward / backward on CD but not sure)
- OK is for the dash display control
- Bottom key opens the BT app in my car, maybe different on yours because it's not a 'back' logo on mine
Remaping with the internal app doesn't work and is useless with CANBus decoders, and as you said, CarService doesn't detect key presses. I don't know if there is a software which handles the decoder or if everything is inside this box... After looking in different threads, seems that all cars in VW group with SWC have this issue. Sorry no help, but maybe some people with more knowledge will be able to help us.
Thanks, was hoping to hear from someone that has explored VCDS coding before I went down that rabbit hole.
So it's possible that the CAN decoder is too "dumb"? I'm wondering if a Joycon unit can add some flexibility of options.
http://www.rcjoycon.com/base_3/menu...e1=&com_board_search_value2=&com_board_page=&
My last resort option is to rewire the the right SWC buttons to the IR remote that came with the Joying head unit. The IR remote PCB will be housed in the steering wheel with the IR emiter just poking out the side. Initial testing seem promising, has just enough line of sight to work.
Before a hardware mod, I think it might be interesting to get back on VCDS and do more searches.
I was able to test an other headunit in my car, the DNX520VBT from Kenwood. Not an android one, seems to be a WinCE or something even more software closed.
There is with this unit a CANBus box similar to those that we have. After all the wiring done, same thing again : the right arrows keys are unresponsive.
After some web searches, I found that : http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=317369
This page concerns the Kenwood unit. On page 3, #57 & #58 replies are interesting. For the same brand cars but different models, the results for the SWC are different and are the same as our issues.
I think it could be interesting to dig again on VCDS to know if there is something with those controls...
I bet the controls on the right are only linked to the dashboard commands so you won't be able to use them on your head unit. Maybe unless you connect additional wires to the buttons an directly to key 1 or key 2 signal of the HU as long as the buttons work via resistances.
The added, right side controls send signals to the radio. The Canbus decoder box just doesn't understand them. All of that was solved with the Joycon device posted above. It intercepts my SWC and mimics them as a HW keyboard connected to the Android HU. When used with Xposed Additions, the options are almost limitless. A single button can have multiple functions, double tap, double tap hold, triple tap, and etc. All of this is with application context too, SWC functions change based on what app is running. It's very nice, just can't remember what they all do.

That sounds good.
So you can use both remote controls left and right with your unit? Is there no double input because of the canbus signals to the android unit?
Do the right controls still work with the dashboard settings? How can you switch from dashboard to HU control?

Yes, both sides can be used. Double input does happen. You have to craft your setup around it. For example, the volume down key could be left stock. Then have the Joycon system look for a tap and hold, for mute. Most of my left side controls are stock/mtc-key functions, right side used for the Xposed Additions stuff.

The retrofitted, right controls only replicate the buttons on the right stalk. After car start I can use RH SWC to change dash info. If I use the original stalk buttons, the SWC will no longer work for dash info but continue to work for the HU. You can avoid mapping the OK button to avoid any big issues with dash settings....or tap the stalk controls every time you start. I've been lazily looking into having this by default, still have no VCDS cable.
Hi all,
I've just installed and got everything up and running on this unit in my E46 and had a question regarding the audio quality when playing music.
I use GoneMad music player as it's got one feature I haven't found in another music app, standard star ratings support embedded in the music tags (all my music is rated), and as such have set up smart playlists that only play songs rated 4 stars, 5 stars etc. This way I can carry and sync my entire local library between phone, car and PC.
Now, I've toyed with the GoneMad EQ settings and can't seem to get the sound to be as crisp as I used to have on the Parrot Asteroid Smart I used to have before.
I installed PowerAmp just to see how much of a difference that makes to the sound quality, and indeed after tweaking the PowerAmp EQ settings, the bass is much richer and treble is clearer.
I have already set the Android headunit's "Amplifier" preset to bass and treble boost by the way.
I have enabled root on the unit, and essentially all I want is to be able to use GoneMad, but with the audio quality of PowerAmp. In the past on my Android phone's I'd installed Viper4Android sound and that's improved the phone sound output to headphones, but Viper4 doesn't seem to install the audio driver on this headunit once the app is loaded.
Can anyone advise on what I can do to improve the sound quality of the headunit without resorting to soldering the IC bypass? I know the sound can be improved via software, since PowerAmp does something the other are not doing, so can this whatever that is, be done via a root app?
Thanks!
No matter, fixed it, installed Viper4Android FX, updated Busybox and tweaked the Viper EQ and clarity modes to suit. Night and day difference. thie cheap Chinese head unit is now excellent everywhere.

what is Busybox? also, thanks for updating your thread with your answer. I'll be getting my Android head unit in a week or so, and I may need this fix too.
It's what various root apps like this use to run their features.

If you can afford it, worth spending a little more and going for the ES4046 model. It uses newer hardware (MTCD instead of MTCB in the above), runs on Android 5.1 and supports DAB+ (if you spend an additional 50 dollars on the DAB module). I have the above which is good for modding but development focus is moving to the later model so probably a little more future proof.

I've got another Erisin (ES3015V) and I'm pretty unhappy with the sound quality as well. Installed Viper4Android, which makes it better, but I'm still not happy. It can't compete with my original low end stereo (RCD310/Skoda Swing). Could you share what you did with the clarity modes specifically? Thanks!

Sure thing, my settings that seem to offer the best quality to my ears are shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgkqYFXAjUE
So i have Dasaita unit for Outlander, Android 8.0 PX5 8-core, 4gb Ram, 32Gb Rom, 8"
My question is does anyone else have managed to some how change car settings throw this device, settings, like light, wipers sensitivity, door locks, folding mirrors etc.? Or is there any other option-throw ODB2? Those settings are available in original unit.
And my second question is, can I adjust rear camera guidelines, because lines what i have with factory camera to dasaita unit are off. Have gone throw all reversing settings and no options found. In the settings there are option to see also active guidelines but it is always curved to one side and not moving as i turn my wheel.
Thanks!
I haven't done this myself, I am actually looking at installing a similar device in my outlander y14, but I understand with a OBD2 Bluetooth device and the mitsubishi Phev app installed on the head unit you can access the car functions... I'm not sure the mitsu app works on android 9 though.

No unfortunately not. But what I noticed is that I'm having Control settings app on my head unit and it have exactly the needed settings in it, problem is that those are greyed out or when touching only sound will heard but can not change anything. The app itself is coming from CAN bus. I didn't install it myself. I have choose canbus nr. 57 for Outlander, if I change it to 111 (another canbus for Mitsubishi) then the app disappears. So there is something that looks promising, but it does not work. Might be that it needs some more steps to do in Factory settings (in canbus and under other), there are some type0,1,2,3 that can be changed. Tested those also, but changing under other type 3 it messed up my screen, it was in vertical, managed to fix it with attached mouse and keyboard.

Yep, press and hold the screen, move up or down the image untill the settings changed disappear, and the bring it back.
P.S. my canbus is MT SS 07 and I am runing the latest firmware on the unit.

I have a Dasaita PX6, custom fit for Toyota RAV4 2016. The car came with factory camera which included dynamic guide lines that away along with the steering wheel. After taking the car for maintenance, they changed something so that now whenever I tilt the wheel while in reverse, the lines curve all the way (so no longer a gradual curve, they just swap left or right).
While reading about it, I found this topic that explains how to recalibrate those guides. However, that option was with the original head unit. How can I get in the Toyota service menu on the Dasaita, without dismounting it and connecting the original?

You brought a aftermarket unit that differs to the factory unit and expect it to operate with the same feature set, is that correct?
Also, what did the reseller suggest you do?
I am looking for a feature that might be exposed differently, or that could be accessed in a different manner (such as ODB software). The original HU was changing settings for the car/camera, but I reckon they are stored elsewhere, because the original camera still works with the new system.
The reseller told me to check the vehicle app that comes with the unit, but that does not have such settings.

No all the stock features are included into the aftermarket custom unit...
In my case...for mazda vehicles ... the menus where included...
That's the price to pay for going to aftermarket solutions (not necessary for one brand or other aftermarket...but aftermarket in general)

The original HU also had a camera menu which I cannot find in Dasaita, see pics attached *Back camera guide line setting*

I also have one of the units but for a Toyota Corolla, so your settings might be similar or different to mine. But I went to Settings > CAR > Extra Settings > then there's an option for Reversing Trajectory Display set that to on. I never had this on my stock unit just the stock non moving lines. I will admit it's not integrated with the lines from the camera as it in it's another set that moves by itself, but it's still better than not having them.

My guess is the camera itself has a cpu that handle these, so in order to access the menu you need to reconnect the old headunit.
