There is something about the layout of this post that makes me happy
+1 for AOSPA, its mature and well thought out. For the crowd who are done with all the bells and whistles imo

Differences between CM, PA, Slim, Carbon, Euphoria

Hello
Please i don't interstand yet the real differences between the Custum Rom Cm, PA, Slim, Carbon
I want to instal only one for long times and want to know which is the best
I heard that CM is the must but what about the others
Thank's
right now, none are stable, so better wait. btw, all these custom roms are almost same: tweaked, deodexed, extra features missing in stock android and theme support

I agree. Also, right now I believe they are all running barebone features. CM is working on becoming more stable and the others will probably put off their implementation of features until CM is stable (a lot of them use CM as their base). I know for sure Paranoid Android for the Zenfone lacks all defining features of PA (aside from App Ops, which is Privacy Guard in CM). So far, I'm running CM until other ROMs beef up their features (I'll probably switch to Paranoid Android when it gets peek, hover, etc.)

CUSTOM ROMS - Best one?

Hello!
The only Custom Rom I've tried is AICP and I really liked it, but since the project is dead (and I can't bare anymore the Chrome resizing bug). What is the best ROM you've tried by now? Considering the different aspects of them (stability, customization, whatever).
Also, any tips to don't lose my data between flashes? I'm too lazy to back up everything and I always keep forgeting something important.
I really want to switch now but not without some opinions first!
Thank you in advance

BeanStalk is and always will be my favorite rom because of all of the customization features and the weekly updates are sweet as well. I can almost guarantee you will like it. Here's a link to the rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/development/rom-kernel-beanstalk-6-07-t3313835
Now I use Dirty Unicorns - many features, customization. Cyanogenmod - official, stable. I like BrokenOS and AOSP-CAF but their apps are very old.
I like Resurrection Remix Rom. It is stable and fast. Amazing customization and so many features.

OrionOS is preety stabe
Thanks guys, really appreciate it.
And they also with 7.0.x?
Tesla N (looks childish is that the normal theme?)
Tesla N is official and stable but has a few very minor bugs(which are. Also present in all other N ROMs at this stage.
Still Tesla would be your best option. For the theme, you may flash the Pixel Launcher and stuff and you can be more stock.

All AOSP ROMs are CM based so unless you're running OOS, you'll be running some sort of cm based ROM. Also OOS is a lot more stable and has a better camera than CM/AOSP. Pretty much everything else is the same
I'd recommend Tesla N. Camera sucks on this ROM but I use a ported OOS camera app. There's minor issues with the ROM but you can really use it as a daily driver.

Not all AOSP roms are based on cm. There are many non cm based roms available for op3 like slim, pa, orionos, tesla, and more.
Most of them are fast and stable so try to find one that suits your preferences.

Hmm I thought the underlying base was cm and then it the respective devs customize it to their liking... Well at least it was like that on the S6 but probs different since we actually have all the sources for this phone.

Many custom ROMs are based on CM, which is itself based on AOSP but heavily customised. There are a number of other custom ROMs as previously mentioned that are based directly on AOSP code.
We don't really have all sources for this phone. OnePlus has only released the essential sources (kernel, dash charge, etc).

Difference between ROMs - any with OTA updates?

Hey guys,
new OP3 owner here - coming from a Galaxy S2 running 6.0.1 and I have to say I just love the idea of 'unofficial' developers and they're doing SUCH a great job!
I just unpacked my device after the OP3T reveal and finding the upgrade isn't worth the money for me and now I have a few questions:
on my S2 I had not exactly the biggest variety of ROMs to choose from so I haven't had this problem before: I have no idea where the basic differences are between CM14.1, Freedom OS 1.10.0, AICP 7.1 and CypherOS 7.1
I know switching ROMs for a few days would be the safest way to say which suits me the best, but I'd like to have some info beforehand - the threads for those ROMs do list the features, but I honestly can't really see the difference most of the time.
So, if anyone here with quite some experience could say 1 "unique selling point"/special feature or what the ROM is known for in one sentence each, I'd be overly grateful
And another question: is there any ROM supportin OTA updates so one has not to flash the whole ROM again to get the next version of said ROM?
Thanks in advance for any advice incoming
Gwiel
CM14.1 - cyanogenmod itself
Freedom OS - based on stock oxygenos with additional mods
AICP 7.1 - based on CM14.1 with more features added
CypherOS 7.1 - based on AOSP with extra features
If you want to know the special features of those roms, go to their threads.
And I don't think incremental OTAs are supported.

I would say AICP if you want just some extra features and OTA, in terms of updating I think AICP is the best. Although I never flashed CM so i don't know about OTA on CM.
Hydrogen, Oxygen, FreeDom. Official or CB, CE, best. You only dislike them if you are a CM fun.

What is the best Nougat rom?

Hello everyone,
I would like to know what is the best rom between Paranoid, lineageOS and OMNI?
Stock
Too open ended of a question. Unless one of them is missing a function you really need, or has (a) critical bug(s), they're all good in their own way.

for me smoothness is very important and in that case omni is the best choice for me.
btw if you can't choose just try them all and use them for a couple of days. when you have found the one you like just flash that and you are all done
Cheers.
Jim
Omni is the clear winner. It's smoother than stock. My opinion ofcourse.
I've tried Lineage, Paranoid Android, etc... Nothing beats Omni. And the support is also great.
Carbon is only in testing, and GPS is broken (should be fixed soon) but I think you should give it a try
